Hi all, I have HTC desire and I am constantly running out of internal memory I am going to root the phone to solve this. I am a complete noob to this so which custom ROM would be easy to install and stable out of the following Cyanogenmod7, LeeDroid 3.0.5 or MIUI ROM, Thanks
Id try the cyanogenmod or miui.
Cyanogenmod 7 or Gingervillain plus CMHBOOT(from alpharev.nl) can solve your problem I think
Thanks for replies jroc716 & plohoi. I will have closer lock at the ROMS ye have recommended
all these rom's r running fast and stable. internal-memory problems had gone by integrating ext-partition(s). so which rom u take is just a matter of ur personal favors.
I have had look at the ROMS suggested in this tread and I am going to flash MIUI Rom by xavierjohn22 but not sure which version is most stable. Should I flash the froyo version (2.2) or 2.3.4 gingerbread (latest version) or 2.3 gingerbread. . I be grateful for any help on this, thanks
1st of all you better obtain an SD Card at least Class4 then follow the guide with the link I will give below. This will help you move your applications to SD and have more space.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
And as a ROM Choice, better use InsertCoin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940
Thanks alpivelopx for the reply. Ya I have class 4 SD card and I have carefully studied the noob proof guide just can’t make up my mind on which rom to flash.
I likr the look of MIUI have any experience using this rom? Which version is most stable?
I have had a look at InsertCoin and having the new Sense would be cool.
I use google maps a lot and assume this bug “compass doesn't always point north” will be a problem. Is there a stable Froyo version?

At first: One cannot say, which is the best rom. It's a personal feeling. You should read the posts where the authors describe there themes and then you should decide. If you cannot, just try one. If you like it, stay with it.
I think you should install the latest version of MIUI. It's usually the most stable version.
I cannot find a (stable) Froyo version of Insertcoin. Maybe ask the author (baadnewz) if he can upload it for you.
Thanks Matdroid, I think your right. I'll try a few roms and decide which is best for me.
I can recommend Leedroid 2.4.1.
A very good and stable Sense rom with A2SD+!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Like others have said... it's more of a personal opinion with ROMs as to their speed and usefulness but if you can get by with the compass issue until it gets resolved (hopefully shouldn't be too long as devs are working like crazy at porting sense 2.1/3.0 to desire) I warmly recommend InsertCoin.
The chef is pushing updates like there's no tomorrow an also makes time to answer people's questions (how he manages it I don't know...) and also you have all the info you need in the first 2 post of the thread.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940
PS: regarding speed, keep in mind that benchmark apps (Quadrant) don't tell the full tale. Try the ROMs for yourself.
I second leedroid 2.4.1..... fast and stable with a2sd+. I wouldn't bother with gingerbread yet still a bit buggy
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
+1 on leedroid 2.4.1
My first not-htc-rom was leedroid v.3.0.5. It was nice. But since a while i use redux v1.2. I like it much more than leedroid, although you have to readjust a little to use a non-sense-rom.
The best froyo sense rom is the InsertCoinHD 2.0.1 Data2Ext.
The best gingerbread rom is InsertCoin v25 CM7.
Keep in mind that Cynogenmod and Miui don't include Htc Sense on it.
I've been using on Leedroid (froyo) for sometime and it was great and stable.
I'm running now Insertcoin v25 (gingerbread) and it's also great. I got 2 issues that I can live with - the compass issue (not pointing north) and the camera makes my phone boot itself sometimes. but other than that it's great.
Both roms have a2sd+, and if you want something stable than I recommend Leedroid 2.4.1. After some time you can get gingerbread roms based on the official release from htc (something like mid-june or a bit later)
Hi
Hmm running out of internal Space *gg*
I Recommend you use InsertCoin, or an ROM Which fits on CM Hboot, Here is the System Partition smaller, difference space is added to userdata, so "more internal" Memory for you.
Pls. Think if you change your SD Card, or crash of it, your OS Cant booting because 1/3 of our System is stored on it. (sdext)
S-Off required.
If you don´t want to manipulate hboot (afraid of crashing bootloader), use any App2SD Rom.
I have many Problems with DATA2SD and DATA2Whatever Scripts.
App2SD is very good.
*I User Insertcoin GS_V26* and i´m happy with it.
Baadnewz is providing these Rom with STock or CM Hboot.
Just Look at a few Roms, (Download 2-3 Roms and test it) an fix install it, which you mostly like. ))
Sorry for my bad english, i´m from austria *hmp*

@MindVision1Thanks for the reply. I am right in saying the Hboot resizes the internal memory to allocate different amount of space to the system. You can get different hboot's from http://alpharev.nl/ so I am right in saying the cm hboot you recommend is the Bravo CM7 on alpharev site.
So If I go with the CM Hboot I have to get a custom rom that fits the 130MB system memory and will also have 300MB free for apps on the internal memory.
If some of the rom is on the sd card and I remove it or it gets damaged I will have a major problem?
How do you know what size a ROM is?
My desire is stock with no branding

Hi everyone!
In my pursuit of the ultimate rom i've settled for the insertcoin 0.3++......Took some risks to customise the phone and flash the cm7 hboot but now i'm there
I really like the new Leedroid 1.4 and the Auraxtsense 1.84 but i think this shades it!I want to chat in the developers area of the said roms but not enough posts....
Tried the Alpha revision custom sense hboot for leedroid and aurax but it would'nt have it,pity really but now on insert coin i have a load of apps and 175 mb internal memory!
Is there anyone who is using the same rom as me and would care to share their thoughts on the competition?
PS i've tried all the HD roms except starburst i think....Done the vanilla roms, oxygen,cm,gv etc
Cheers Simon
Haven't used said ROM myself, but I'm currently hunting for the right one for me. As great as it is and as appreciative as I am, little things are bugging me with the Oxygen ROM (I actually just came on to get some info on the stock 2.3.3 HTC sense for nexus s on my desire)
Out of interest what's made you choose this one?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have been through most easily, even miui but i got to like insertcoin 1.8h,quick n slick with no memory leaks either.Went to 2.0 a2sd and data ext but thought it was laggy....this one you have to flash the cm7 hboot which just fits all the rom to nand flash...the hboot size is 130mb i think and the rom fits at 120mb so you get a load more internal memory considering the standard hboot is 250mb......used to like oxygen but gingerbread 2.3 isn't that good,i thought froyo oxygen was better.
This rom i'm using goes like [email protected] even while it's installing all the apps on the market upon installation
Then you realise it starts to slow down when you've installed your apps.
Sent from CM7
I'm a big fan of the data++ sensehd roms too. Rcmix densensensenised with launcherpro went like the proverbial off a hot stick. Did notice some slow down once all apps were installed but it is a seriously BIG improvement over other apps/data to sd. Flashing hboot was scary at first but now I dont hesitate at all. If anybody noobs are tempted then download fastboot commander. If there's any demand for it I'll do a walk through.
Having said all that, I'm currently playing with oxygen with custom hboot and found it again faster still. The only thing compares for me was the hiapk rom (based on cm7) which I tried briefly. Anybody else had a go on this one? miss the sense goodness though.
will be back on a hd ginger sense soon what with the ginger bravo leak.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
To be honest i have 43 apps on there ontop of all the ones which come as standard and the phone is fast...Again in all honesty it's not as fast as i thought it would be
I'd love to go back to a vanilla rom again but i keep missing sense.....Can't find a weather app as good as htc...that 90mb hboot flash might just be in the pipeline very soon and have a bit of oxygen this weekend.
PS I recommend fastboot commander also
Beetnubbin......I'm going to ditch this rom,it's not as fast as i thought....Leedroid 2.4 was faster i thought even though there's a few minor bugs.
Auraxtsense 8.4 went well for me too....is there any other rom you recommend mate?....Have'nt tried starburst classic yet,any ideas?
hey there guys, just wanting some advice currently i have mine and a friend i know using RCMixHD v3.6 i think its great, if a little problematic, but my friend whos phone i rooted and installed RCMixHD v3.6 isnt really any good at all this and if problems arise he has no idea how to fix it. So what im looking for is the best rom to get him using that is trouble free, but that also gives more space for apps, IMO the only problem with these desires is the lack of space for apps.
So guys you lot are the experts, whats the best desire rom that gives more space for apps, preferably i think without partitioning the memory card. cos i think thats whats causing the problems he gets.
If You don't want to partition SD card try one of AOSP roms, but the best way to get more spare for apps is to partition SD and flash A2SD+ rom.
Go s-off and flash either Oxygen or CM7 hboot then the corresponding rom. Personally I have CM7 because I find it better. Anyway, I'd you need to, you can setup A2SD later if need be but you do get 300+ MB of storage with these hboots.
I don't like to use A2SD because for 1, I have a slow card, class 2 and second, it can really **** up.

I'd rather go with Redux or Oxygen. and trick them out with apps.
I'm using RCMix S 1.6.1 A2SD+ and it's really fast and stable. I've got lot of, ~50 apps, and phone running without any lags. Updates are very often ~1-2 in a week. It's even work on s-on phones. Only condition is sd partition, but if you want a lot of space you need to have one.
Swyped from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If you want ROM with sense i would go with Leedroid 3.0.6 (stable, fast and has App2SD out of the box). If you want ROM without sense, i would go with Cyanogenmod 7.0.3. It doesn't come with App2SD by default, but you can easily install it.
Well, maybe you should just try out?
Start with oxygen or devnull, install apps, make sure sync all to cloud.
After that try other roms, everytime you flash new rom - get your apps and settings from cloud...
That's what I do when I'm bored and wanna try a new rom....

Might want to check on that, the RCMix team are responsible for some of the best, most stable, and most regularly updated ROM's on the HD/Sense3 side so they DO know how.
I would second RCMix, problem is it's by the same guys..
i go with reflextsense 2.05 by now, and downloading.
for me it's fast n stable.
thanks to Neo..
I have used cm, oxygen, insertcoin, leedroid, but my favourite of all is Reflex S by Neo. Currently using 2.0.5, but may switch back to 2.0.2 as I prefer the newer messages app.

I rooted my Desire I think a month ago now.
Since then I tried Modaco R26, Cyanogen 7.02, Redux, Defrost and since two days I am using F1 Cyanogen.
I like Defrost very much, it's Froyo (love the froyo white statusbar theme) and it's small and fast. I also like Redux, Gingerbread, but also small and fast.
F1 is Cyanogen based, stripped from lots of stuff that you can dl yourself from the market afterwards if you want. Very nice too.
Some odd thing (to me), I have one or two apk's, like simple clock widget, in some ROM's (Defrost) it will install in English and I will see it in English in Market too, in others (Redux and F1) it's only available in Chinese and if I install the same apk it also turns up as a Chinese version on my phone..
im new to rooting and flashing. im ready to root and flash a rom but i dont know what roms will work or not work.
i have a us cell htc desire 2.2 cdma hboot 1.06
gonna use revolutionary to do it.
could someone recommend a decent user friendly rom for a noob
First ROMs I used were the LeeDroid Froyo versions. Very straight forward and easy to use.
Most here would recommend the CyanogenMod ROMs, or Oxygen. MIUI is popular, but I read just as many bad things as good with that one. Of the GingerSense ROMs, you can't go past RCMix, InsertCoin or LeeDroid. There are also CrystalPyramid and CoolSensation, but I would consider those a little more advanced than the others listed.
In all honesty, most ROMs are pretty easy to use. Some require a little more setting up of partitions or the like, but there's not alot to be scared of.
Good luck!!
this there any roms that i can just flash and go?
is there a certain CyanogenMod ROM you could recommend?
i dont know how to do partitions on my sd. just want the easiest thing yo flash, i wouldn't mind a rom with ginerbeard..

you can use gparted, or minitool partition (I used it and it's simple as..)
after a lot of testing im now on latest leedroid. Stable and fast, any issues.
U should give it a try! Install with full cache, davlic, data wipe - and it will work without any probs
from what i found on google this afternoon theres not many roms that work with htc desire (bravoC)?
will this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124810
what does this mean?"You must have an ext 2/3/4 partition on ur SD-Card (512MB - 1GB recommended)"
SGBS is for GSM Desire only ... sorry
That means that you MUSt have an second partition on your SD-Card, because some system files are there and A2SD+ needs the scond one.
damn is there one like that but for cdma ?
this there a rom like the one i posted the link for but cdma instead?
any of these work?

Hello All,
i have a rootet HTC Desire with this custom room ROM][28/06] ✰.Reflex S v2.1.7 Gingerbread 2.3.3. I like it but it is time to change.
I am looking for a Rom which is fast, smooth and stable.
Have A2sd+ and and many background pics
I want free intern storage and use A2sd+ cause i have 16 GB sd card inside.
Also i wanna ask: if the Rom has A2sd+ inkluded do i must do something to activate? Or do the Rom install the apps directly to ext3 part?
I know i have many questions but i hope somebody can help me even with short answers.
Waiting for you advices for the right rom for me
Thanks alot
Best Regards

Google Maps are missing in MIUI rom
Hy guys!
Some time ago I was at LeeDroid rom, it worked very good and stable.
After that I transfered to the MIUI rom which was also satisfying, instalation was good(it went well), but problem occured, google maps and youtube apps aren't there. DOes anybody have similar problems?
Thanks in advance!
i was using Ossrams SGBS 2.x rom and it was superb, fast, stable this is almost like stock DHD port with sense 2.1 off course gingerbread
but now i returned to Baaadz InsertCoin 1.1.0 wich is the best and fastest rom so far for desire, at least for me
I use AceSMod007, it is very fast and stable with good battery life
New version should be uploaded soon
you don't need to do anything about a2sd+ just to partition your SD card

I am runnig cm7.1 .... I was wondering if some one can tell me which room is the smallest and stable and off course the coolest. I just have 81.17 mg left in my internal memory.. i also have a 32gb sd card ... I love cm7 but i have no idea if there is a better and smaller room out there ...thx for you help....
Somenthig close to ics...lol
Try dGB (just klick on my sig).
For nearly unlimited internal memory use a ROM in combination with DATA2SD / DATA2EXT-script.
I believe you have to decide what you think is cool... Check out what other people choose and their motivations in the other thread... here
Personally I left Sense 3.5 projects and went to stable and fast, and installed AN-Droid 2.1.0 data++, that gave me speed, space and (for me) a bug free ROM.
An attic would be very small and cool. hmmph

I want to make my droid sexier.....lol thx
small and stable ? well you can go past aosop based roms such as oxygen etc , if you need more space for apps you could use droid zones flashable data2sd script .zip , does the job well and since you have a large sd card it should work well etc ,dont forget to partian your sd before flashing this script .
Thank u . I'll Try it
Go for MIUI rom by XJ. Very fast, great support and stable.
Miui is very different and you would want to test before using it daily... questions about ROM's are awkward because ithere is no best rom, its your opinion..
My 2 cents:
what ROM is the best it's hard to say, because it depends on what are you looking for.
Usually when it comes to HTC Desire we have 3 macro-families of ROMS:
1) AOSP ROMS - Like CM7 or Oxygen, they are based on the STANDARD Android OS, so there is NO SENSE interface. They are usually pretty stable and light, they are very small etc. but only you can say if they are cool
2) Gingerbread - Sense 1.9/2.1 ROMS - These ROMS are somewhat similar to the stock one, with a newer version of Android (2.3.x) and a version of Sense which is close to the stock one. Most of them feature scripts like A2SD+ of Data++ for storing applications on the SD card, so that you won't finish the space too soon as it happens with the stock firmware
3) Sense 3/3.5 or ICS4 - Here we go advanced, Android is usually 2.3.5 and you have a SENSE interface taken from the latest HTC devices, if you want my opinion these ROMs are the coolest, but since they are very different from what was planned for the Desire, you can get many different issues, some programs not working as they are intended to and so on. For sure the overall experience is slower, since the CPU and RAM are downsized for such an interface. ICS ROMS are based on the new Android 4 OS, there's no SENSE interface and they are mostly alpha or beta releases, so if you want something stable you better leave them alone
Here's the link to the desire index thread where you can find all the ROMS for your Desire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
Hope I've been useful
If you enjoy cm7, I have an idea for you to get much more space for apps. First of all download GParted and make two partitions first will be about 30GB fat32 primary partition and second will be 2 GB ext4 (primary ofc). Then go to this thread and flash INT2SD script. After that almost all space from your ext4 partition will be free for apps (ext4 partition is recommended to be 1-2 GB).
So much info thx
