After flashing a sbf, i'm unable to get into the stock recovery of motorola defy. The exclaimation marks comes up but when i touch the bottom right, the stock recovery doesn't start up. Any idea how i can make this work so i can do factory reset?
If you've flashed a froyo sbf then use both up and down on the volume rocker (at the same time) to enter recovery.

wait, i press up and down both together but it doesn't show up :S instead it just boots...
If you have flashed a 2.2 rom, pressing the vol up & down together should bring the menu. If it reboots instead, there may be other issues.
so what rom are you using now?

i think you have to go through hboot if the device is off. why is that important? it doesnt take that long to go through hboot. if your device iss uo with a custom rom, most support restarting into recovery.
Have to volume down + power to hboot, volume down let the search complete, volume down to recovery, power to select then you will boot to recovery doesnt take too long from a rom with power menu mod you can choose recovery and boot straight in or if your rom doesnt have a power menu mod you can use quick boot from the market to boot straight to recovery

I followed the instruction, and try to upgrade my Malice (2.6.x) ROM to ICS. But now stuck in reset loop...
This is the instruction they provided:
1. Boot to recovery (done)
2. Nandroid backup (done)
3. Wipe data/factory reset (done)
4. Flash the ROM.zip (done)
5. Reboot & once booted wait five minutes for the ROM to settle
(waited for more than 5 mins, the phone just boot to "InFamous bootup screen" and then reset in a loop..
Just wondering how I can boot back to CWM recovery mode or what should I do from this point on...
I tried the "hold volume up key + down key + power button" trying to get into recovery mode, but it doesn't work.
:crying:
Boot into recovery and load this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645985
Download the ROM from here:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1/Jamison904/SGS2/Infamous_2.7.1.zip
Thanks in advance
Are you doing combo right? Hold both volume keys + power, at first vibration release power key, continue to hold volumes until in recovery. Flash darkside cachewipe. Can be found in dev section in any of thederekjay's rom threads.

Sure!
But how do I flash it if I can't get into Recovery mode?
And which radio/modem to flash for this mod?
For now u have to get into the recovery mode ...
Take out the battery
Then hold The volume up and down, and the power buttons . Wait u feel the vibration let go of the power button. Few secs later u will see The recovery menu
Any Ics radio for t989 should be fine look for them under the development section
U have to flash the Ics radio if u r coming for the gingerbread ROM .
Flash the radio before the ROM

I don't think there's radio/modem.. but I found few kernels:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372690
I don't think Kernel includes the radio/modem, right?
Its 2 different things ,
A kernel came with a ROM ...
And u need an Ics radio to install an Ics ROM

Download the right radio for your carrier, and flash it before the ROM ..

Do you see a blue LED notification light? If so, you could try pressing volume down when seeing that

Reboot to recovery doesn't really work that well, it doesn't on my tablet either. Just let it reboot, and when it's booting again spam either the volume down or back key, depending on your kernel.
I have to press the volume up button on my phone to get into cwm

But if you installed via x-parts you may want to try a different version of it. Newest has issues. Just search the x-parts thread.
R800x-unlocked/AOKP m6
I use cwm-installer and then i tap the volume up button to enter cwm that way of that helps sorry kindnof a noob here lol just saying what worked for me

Dude,
If your on v5 like me.
Hold your power button, chose reboot from the menu.
The options should then be reboot, recovery and then boot loader.
Hope this helps.

Thanks bro, I have tried, but reboot menu only have one item. Which is a normal reboot. Btw, I am on V4. I have tried some app like Quickboot, Rom manager etc but when I tap reboot to recovery button it performs a normal reboot. Not booting into recovery...
Is v4 running off the fxp kernel? Using cm10 as a base?
If so when it boots up and shows free xperia logo. And your led goes purple press up on the volume to get in to recovery.

I think it has stock MIUI kernel. And when booting first it shows a sony white logo (not sony ericsson) and then MIUI logo. I tried keep pressing volume up but no luck. And there is no LED lights up at all...
Have you tried the volume buttons when the Sony logo appears?
Try both up and down.

Yes...I tried both. When I press volume down button it reboots into Safe mode.
The only other thing I can think of is to re install your recovery.
If that don't work extract your recovery files and then use flash tool to revert back to stock.
Then install recovery and drop the files back in.

I am running stock rom, I flashed cwm now, it asked me "rom may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?"
No
Yes - disable recovery flash
Go back
I selected yes. and now the device not booting into recovery mode and it restarts normally when I hold vol up+power+home
Should I reflash cwm and select "no" next time?

Hi, friend..
You should look for the answer before posting this question, there are so many answers to this..
Okay.. Let it be..
Nope.. Your option is right.. If you'd selected no, then there won't be cwm recovery, it will only be "stock recovery"
If you selected "yes", then it will "disable stock recovery on boot" only then, cwm recovery will be applied..
So, I think your problem is there is something wrong in flashing recovery or did you exactly turn off your phone, then press volume up + home + power, then release power button when note 2 logo appear?
