From below pic, you can see that I have added something to tightly hold the tablet to the case.
It cost me less than 25US$.

It looks great. Where did you go it? I mean, do you have the link?
Thks.

I found the following from ebay, and more cheaper than mine. But you may require to break the icon lock on the left hand side and relocate it a bit higher or lower as it may cover the usb slot.

WOW! Looks really cool except this USB connector
Is there anything like that available but with Bluetooth connectivity?

7" mini usb version doesn't work with Archos 70
Just an FYI: There's a version of this keyboard+case with a "mini-usb" connector sold for 7" tablets (looks like exactly the same thing as the one pictured for the 101 here, just smaller) by several Chinese companies. Just got one, and the mini-usb connector doesn't fit the 70's min-usb port. So.....if you buy the 7" tablet keyboard+case, it looks like you'd need to buy the full usb connector version, then use a usb to mini usb host adaptor. However......there is no power source in the keyboard, so I imagine it would need to draw power from the Archos.....and it appears the 70's mini-usb port only provides up to 1 mA of power. Not sure, but I would suspect a keyboard might need more than that.

Archos 101 + Leather case & keyboard = really expensive bad netbook.
A netbook to this device is like core duo to pentium 3.
I really enjoy my Archos, and i do not feel the need to add improvised devices to it.
I have my computer, my laptop, the tablet, the smartphone and the stupidphone. They all do what they are supposed and built to do.
I'm sorry but this makeshift case seems to me a waste of time.

That depend on your purpose of using the tablet. If you have notebook and desktop, of coz the tablet is only for entertainment, and keyboard is not necessary. For me, I would like to use tablet to replace most of the functionality of laptop. That's why I add a keyboard to it to ease my handling.

keyboards with android devices are spectacularly helpful. install documents go to premium (or a competing product) and voila, created and edit word and excel docs on the go, in meetings etc, no worries. sit in bed and chat with friends, email, browse the web, without dealing with annoying virtual keyboards.
it's amazing to me that keyboards, even cheap ones, don't come with every android tablet in cheap leather cases like this.
In fact, many cheap chinese models turn out actually do offer this combination at purchase. Presumably that means it's a very popular request.
Anyway, don't knock it until you try it. These devices are fast and nimble when working with office docs or doing qa and I wouldn't be without an android tablet plus keyboard at my workplace. I use mine for scrum (agile) meetings when updating versionone. Compared to a netbook the screen is bigger and easier to read and the OS is far superior for those of us with old eyes. Not to mention much lighter and sexier.

I bought sameone two month ago and feel perfect quality for handcarry

I just bought the same case off ebay for $20, shipped. I am going to add the velcro too, but for now I found that the tabs will bend and make the fit tighter.
You can't hardly buy a case alone for $20...

Chinese products are always unpredictable ...

People !
For the A70IT only use bluetooth devices !
I made my self the same (almostly -,-) case !

I would love to see a dock where the angle can be adjusted dramatically.
Any body have the detail pictures??
The standard dock is a waste of money IMHO. There is no micro usb connection to the computer so you have to unplug the power cord if you want to charge while uploading files.

Don't waste your time and money on the Standard Dock and Port Case
What garbage. The portfolio case will offer none to little protection, plus it will scratch up the unit with use. The dock is silly, no connections to the computer and places the unit at a very inconvenient angle. I'm not a happy camper. I'm going to check into the return of them.

Yeah I noticed that and decided not to buy. We need a third party dock that allows adjusting the viewing angle and a portfolio case that is not cheap and will allow access to the available ports and power button.
That Portfolio case scratched up my xoom! Grrrrr!!! I am warning everyone I know about that damn case!!
I just bought the black silicone gel case from the verizon store. They showed me the portfolio case, but it just looked soooo awkward and poorly made. The silicone case barely adds any thickness at all and looks quite nice. Since the glass on the front is good, I think i'm good to go with just this case. Also, it says on the box that it is compatible with the docks in case anyone was wondering. $29.99 was a little high in. Y opinion, but at this point it is the only viable case and I'm getting paranoid about my Xoom getting damaged.

Yeah, that one was a little perplexing. Theres a damn micro usb on the dock itself, but none to output to a pc... wtf
Best I can figure, they're using the microusb tip to add stability to the device when in the dock and that there probably isnt anything on the backside of the tip. Maybe somebody will crack one of these things open to see what the deal is...
All in all, I saw it as a slightly more expensive way to get another wall charger.
Does the OCNNSB25 coupon code not applicable to the Xoom accessories? I tried purchasing the the silicone case and hd dock, but the coupon code wouldn't go through. Any suggestions?

That is indeed disappointing. I was expecting at least a usb connection - that way there'd be some hope of debugging from a docked device.
Really. See how far $50 goes now. I only paid $30 for my X's dock which has usb (for charging, but not limited to) and hdmi. I thought that was too high for what it is really.
The cheaper dock, while handy, is not good for debugging at all. I'll use wireless adb for a while, but it shouldn't be this hard.

Gameklip PS3 platorm adapter to hold your phone:mini review video

I got this yesterday and I really like it.
Makes me want to game more on my phone now!
Its a quick video but I hope you like it!
Regards
I don't like the GameKlip because of:
-The connection between the clip to the controller isn't tight enough
-The piece is not universal
-The device sticks a little too high, should be angled more carefully
-(and finally) its a stolen idea (can't help myself)
Check out the Andraxis Project:
-Its original
(we had the idea to make a connector between phone and PS3 controller to use SIXAXIS App)
-Its universal
-Clip to controller is stronger connected
-Developer is honest, but broke, but active with the project

I just wished I had a few weeks and $10,000 to blow. We could get a better design with an adjustable arm (like your car-phone holders) and we could get it from a Plastics Company in China. That way its much more durable (than Andraxis or GameKlip) and costs cheaper too ($5 each). Actually sounds like a perfect thing for Kickstarter!
Im really sorry for you that they stole your idea. I saw it on some Android news website and thought to myself and wondered if you just changed the name from Andraxis to Gameklip. I didnt even think about it that someone would actually steal such an idea... Thats just a shame.

I don't mind.
Afterall, I did make the .stl (that's the 3D model) publicly available.
I just wished if someone did pick up this project (I'm working fulltime, parttime study, and got to do normal chores/left home) however that they would improve it.
His implementation isn't the type of quality I had in mind, I want to ensure maximum connection between your expensive device and the controller. I also want it to be universal because lets face it, Android devices come in all shapes and sizes.
Anyways, I'll leave you guys with a picture of the fun times we had:

No you're alright.
What I mean is that, the bottom clip doesn't cover enough surface area of the top.
That's my honest opinion. This leaves it vulnerable to "pop out" if its bumped, like lets say on a train.
The angle is fine, and he's dedicated a lot of space your the shoulder buttons. However, I think its a little "too much" space. He should've pushed it backwards a little to make it easier to access the /_\ button and keeping the unit more compact.
My biggest gripe is that it isn't universal. Why he chose to go with that, beats me.
And he's encouraging people to buy it for non-compatible devices and just apply Scoth Tape... what if doesn't work, the customer would be unhappy, and he's unwilling to refund them.
Yeah I wish it was for multiple phones or adjustable so I could use it with my case for sure.

[Idea. Not a real product] PS Vita style case

Hi everyone,
A few minutes ago I had an idea. A case that gives you game controls and looks like a ps vita. Before I try to design and build this. First I would just like to know if anyone would even want to buy this, next I would appreciate any and all help if I get some interest. If not enough interest, then I would probs just make an instructable. Here is a quick sketch that I made:

Patent it before Apple does!
how much would you plan it to cost?
you can buy a PS vita looking android 4.0 gaming rig for under 90 bucks on ebay.
I'd buy it depending on the price

Th price really depends on costs and I have no idea what it will cost. This is still just a drawing so the final product is a very long way off.
I'd be very interested in it. Looks really cool. Would be great for games with on screen controls n emulators

sounds cool but I'd rather have a universal one since I'm swapping phones very often. Maybe you can change the device "holder" to an expansive type?
something like this BUT, of course less bulky looking something more slim to go along the line of the new devices.

well, then what fabrication abilities do you have? this would involve circuitboards, and at minimum vacuum formed, if not castings of plastic...
what programming do you have? can you set up a USB controller?
make a prototype, and then see how much that cost... and by prototype, I mean essentially a sellable product, not some random duct-taped pile of bits that only was inexpensive due to using used parts.
or is this just a drawing of an idea from a person that has no ability to make it?
You can also try Kickstarter to try to get funds to get this working n maybe get more people interested once you have a workable demo going

i was trying to come up with this for my gs3 with the two sides clamping onto tho phone via the usb dock and headphone jack so i can run an extender for usb and audio out. got a 360 pad hacked but having problems with hacking the usb to micro usb on the phone. gotten a little messy with the mod too.

At this moment I have very little ability to make it, however, I am a quick learner. I feel like there is about a 50% chance that this will be completed. Right now I am working on a rough 3d model of the plastic shell on computer. I was thinking about getting that 3d printed once it is done. I dont know how to set up a usb controller and I can program some basic java.

I really like this, but if you really wanted something like this you can use gameclip and ps3 controller, but the reason that my idea, IMO, is better is because you could fit the whole thing in your pocket.
Very rough "sketch" 3d model. Gets my point across that it will be 2 parts and they will attach to each other and plug into the phone.
It looks like an endangered insect, lol.
looks good. keep it coming
Hi guys,
I have realized that this could never come to the market, at least if it was made by me. If it was made by me then costs would just be too high because of my inability to mass produce all of the parts needed to create this. I just cant afford it and I really cant design it and market it and assemble it all while going to high school and doing homework and studying. However, once this is done, I will make an instructable for all of you to see and make this yourselves and perhaps one of you would be able to perfect it and produce it on a large scale. If that happens, I ask for nothing in return ecxept for credit where credit is due, but I doubt that this will happen...

[Q] Anyone thinking about or using the Samsung Galaxy Smart Dock with an Active?

I've spent the past day or so mulling over spending a pocketful of cash for a brand new phone these days, after so many years of grabbing up used hardware passed down by other people, I'm at a point where the current generation of phones (like the GS4A) are most certainly "powerful enough" to do some of the things that I'd like to do. My idea is this, as crazy as it might sound, is to build myself a nice desktop machine (which is on the planning board right now as well) but also get a brand new high end smartphone which I intend to use in manner like so:
- attach the high end smartphone to a dock (if one is available) that allows me to plug in a keyboard, mouse, and of course a high definition monitor (in this case with the GS4A, a 1920x1080 model to match the resolution, I don't need more than that
- when I'm at home I can simply put the phone on the dock and then it will become my "terminal" powering the desktop monitor, controlled by the keyboard and mouse, and running a terminal services/remote desktop application which then allows me to "remote in" to the desktop computer (which will be in another part of the room on the same network)
Yes, it does sound a bit crazy but it's what I have in mind. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has or owns the Samsung Galaxy Smart Dock Multimedia Hub as seen here:

I know that it's a bit expensive for what it is, but the capabilities it offers are perfect for my particular plans I have in mind. I've found it for a bit less on eBay and Amazon so, it's under strong consideration since I'd prefer to use such a dock instead of using an MHL adapter then that into a hub, etc - which would probably be an issue getting USB signals out at the same time as the HDMI for the monitor, and so on. A single dock doing all that (and offering 3 USB ports and audio output too) is far more realistic.
So, if anyone has such a dock could you comment on your experience(s) with it with the GS4A? I'm going over to the GS4 forum to look around for info - I'm just making an assumption that the dock works with the GS4A since it is a Galaxy device and that dock is supposed to be for all of them, more or less. The recessed USB port on the GS4A (because of the "rugged" casing design) might make it more difficult to attach, perhaps Samsung has one of those adapters to raise the microUSB plug on the adapter and make it flush. It's all part of my research now.
I wish I could get that "Flame Orange" version of the GS4A but I can't seem to locate a seller for it, I believe that's the International version of the GS4A and on eBay it's commanding prices in the $900 range and I simply cannot afford that much. I may even end up buying a GS4A used, who knows.
Already picked out my case, however, it's that Supcase Unicorn Beetle one in Yellow/Black, that thing is simply gorgeous.
Thanks for any input or information, it's appreciated.
Edit: I just checked and yes it appears to be compatible with the GS4A as noted on the "Supported Devices" support page, awesome.
I looked at that dock, and others as well, but have been waiting for someone else to check if it actually works with the Active or not... Maybe you
What I wonder is what happens to the rubber USB plug when the phone is in the dock. Does it just get crushed underneath, or is their a space for it? Maybe the plug will need to be removed completely, which is something I'm close to doing anyway since I didn't get this phone to use underwater anyway.
If you do decide to purchase, please post back and let us know...
If you look on the page you linked to, under compatible with, click "see all", and you'll note that the Active is listed on the second page - at least the AT&T model. In other words, it seems it would work!
I'd consider it myself if I had room for a third monitor on my desk.
Found this giant pic online. It looks like the piece in the middle can be taken out to help accommodate the rubber flap. I don't have one myself but it looks pretty solid.

Gotta love it when the ad says "SHIPS WORLDWIDE" but in this somewhat rare instance it can't/doesn't/won't ship to the US, go figure. Bleh.
Got a friend over in the UK, will ask her if she can order it for me, have it shipped to her then she'll send it my way.
I ended up getting an S4 Active in somewhat "horribad" cosmetic condition: was dropped by the previous owner < 2 weeks after purchase, the Dive Blue model from AT&T, and developed a typical "spider web" crack in the glass but the digitizer is still 100% functional and the LCD suffered no ill effects, missing the original battery cover/back plate and the original battery, but I got it for $100 so whatever, I'm a somewhat happy camper at this moment.
Working on getting an unlock code so I can use it with T-Mobile, was reading up on that AWS "unlock" as well to help with the data connection, will see how it all works out over the next few days/weeks I suppose.
It's damned fast, and even in spite of the crack and no back cover (I got a battery off craigslist for $30, not brand new but it works so that's a plus).
Still would like to get one of these docks so yes, I'd like to hear your experience when yours arrives, thanks.
Arrived the other day and i must say im impressed, it worked well with my phone and my wifes (S3), It came with an euro charger and an american charger but i just used my phone charger and it works, it shows in portrait but when the phone flips into landscape mode its fits the whole screen.
I had a chance to get one from Samsung at half price using that 50% coupon code they gave me for registering the phone to my account, but of course I forgot about it completely when I ordered a single battery the other day - DOH!!! Should have just put both of them in the cart and got both products for less than the regular price of just one of the docks.
But I'll live I guess. I had originally intended to use the dock as I said in the first post above: like it was a "computer" of sorts attached to a keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc; I realized that wasn't going to be a feasible situation for me so I've decided to go the opposite direction and do everything I can to be truly wireless meaning using a wireless charger and all data transfers to and from the phone using Wi-Fi, and maybe even using the Wi-Fi Direct or DLNA capability to send some "video" out from it as well, there are lots of possibilities.
Just bought a Jawbone JAMBOX for $50 on craigslist and for it's size it's quite amazing too, now paired with my GS4A and crankin' out some Rush.
We'll see what happens...
I know this smart dock works with the Note 3
Since we are talking about the Samsung multimedia smart dock, I tested this out and it works with the note 3 as well, if anyone is interested:

Review of Atongm Bluetooth wireless laser virtual keyboard w/lots of pics!!!

This is a review of Atongm Bluetooth wireless laser projection virtual keyboard. http://www.gearbest.com/bluetooth-keyboard/pp_68966.html
Bluetooth wireless keyboards come in all shapes and sizes, everything from an ultra portable candy bar size to a full size footprint comparable to your computer/laptop keyboard. I had a chance to test and to share with you about a number of different bt keyboards, and typically reviewed them based on portability and comfort. It never crossed my mind to describe a keyboard as a "cool gadget", at least not until now. Furthermore, it has been a challenge lately to find something original and cool after I covered so many different batteries, cases, headphones, and speakers, etc. I found different websites offering the same re-branded or similar looking generic gadgets. But I think I hit a jackpot when I recently came across http://www.gearbest.com and one particular product that I think you all going to like!
I have seen laser projection virtual keyboards in the past, though only in pictures or YT videos, and always thought it's a really cool gadget that belongs in one of those sci-fi movies. Just think about it, you have a laser light projecting a virtual keyboard on any surface where you tap the letters and it translates into the actual typing on your smart device or a computer. It sounds pretty cool, but also used to cost a lot of money. But just like with any other technology, after initial introduction the price goes down to become more affordable. Still, to this day most of the places sell these keyboards between $100-$120, and maybe you can find a few questionable models on ebay for $70-$80. What I found is a brand name manufactured laser projection keyboard which www.gearbest.com sells on their website for about $67, and now with a special coupon offer (code GBALK), you can get it for $49.99 with a free shipping.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, I had a chance to play around with this particular model and it actually WORKS!!! I'm not hyping it up, this keyboard does work and it makes typing looks cool! Arrived in a very small box, you never know what to expect considering its "big" functionality. It's actually very small in size, measuring about 3" x 1.5" x 0.75" and weighting around 50g. It comes with usb to mini-usb charging cable and a detailed English manual. The device itself has on/off switch and mini-usb connector on the back, and a laser projector and scanner windows on the front. You turn the power on, search and pair it up from your phone, and you are all set. Now, here is one negative I found - once you power down this keyboard and turn it back on, you will have to pair it up again since for some reason it doesn't remember the connection. It is a bit annoying, but honestly - not a show stopper because a benefit of using this keyboard outweighs this inconvenience.
Once it paired up, you have to be sure this keyboard projector is standing upright and you have a surface where you can see the laser projected keys. Since I always take my review pictures in one designated area on a granite counter top kitchen surface (where I get the best light), I used a piece of paper for a better contrast so there is no reflection when I'm taking pictures. But it also worked well on a lot of different surfaces I tried, even glass top of our kitchen table. The brightness of the keyboard could be adjusted to raise it up or to dim it down. Also, by default you have an audible beep alert to notify you that a letter was "pressed". That audible alert could be disabled as well for a quiet tapping. I was actually very please with included instructions since they go over all these details. Also, when you visit product page in the link I provided at the beginning of the review, they have a video tutorial how to setup and to use this keyboard.
So how was the typing? It takes a little bit of practice to get used to tapping on the surface instead of pushing the actual physical keys, but I got used to it very quickly. It's no different than touch screen use with your phone or tablet. The keys are spaced with plenty of room which makes it comfortable to type. You get a familiar QWERTY key layout with dedicate row of numbers and punctuation at the top (had to get used to that while looking at my period and comma). Another great thing, something a lot of you will appreciate, as I was typing on my Note 2 using this virtual laser keyboard - there was NO on-screen keyboard cluttering the space and leaving the whole screen open so I can see what I'm typing. With most of the BT keyboard I tested in the past, you always get pop-up on-screen keyboard which covers most of your screen. Here, it wasn't a problem. Perhaps it was part of the latest Android 4.4.2 update I got on my phone since I used bt keyboard in the past with pre 4.4 versions, but either way - I found it to be very useful.
Overall, this is a TRUE Super Geek gadget!!! Is this a must have accessory? I wouldn't necessary say so because you need to have a flat surface with some extra space to use it. But at the discounted price with a current coupon for under $50, it's one heck of a value that actually WORKS and LOOKS super cool!!! My only negative comment is that you will have to pair it manually every time you turn it on, but it's a small price to pay for a cool factor of virtually projected keyboard keys!
