My phone has started making random calls by itself. While the keys are locked. BUT TO ONLY EMERGENCY NUMBERS!. First it's been calling 112 which does nothing in this area. But today it actually called 911. While in my pocket. While the keys were locked. I would have never known but the operator called me back. So I looked through my call log and find a bunch of listings for 112 and finally today for 911. Maybe it would make more sense if random numbers or contacts were called along but thats not the case.
WHat and WhY
I'm running 3VO 3.60
Basically the Emergency numbers can be dialed even if the keyboard is locked. Install maniac Autokeylock () - this will add another layer of keypad safety. His site seems offline currently (http://maniac.fschreiner.de/), so you may need to seek for a download elsewhere. I have no copy available - possibly will do that later.
The author sent me a direct link: http://maniac.fschreiner.de/dmdocuments/Keylock_WM5.CAB
Thanks. I didn't realize it did that. Makes sense now. This program will make the keys automatically lock but will it lock it from dialing 911?

yes it will
i enabled it and I can still call 911 while its locked
here my friend
use this
http://www.logic-unlimited.in/callfirewall.php
this is an all in one software which can block incoming sms and calls
as well as block outgoing calls so just add 911 to ur blacklist so this application will stop it from calling
Perfect! thanks
AKL will block only while the SS is active. No need to configure a call firewall. With the latter you will kill dialing 911 all times - also when you need it!

I have been using the 'Search' feature a lot and learning lots about the device.
While doing this, I had a ex-stalker phone me, grrr.. I wish she didnt have my number..
I guess I will have to change my sim, but I was wondering... is there an App or a way of baring certain individual incoming numbers ? so I can just bar hers ?
I guess its a long shot but thought I would ask
Cheers.

Reject phone
Hello matt,

NOVOSEC smart filter maybe did it....
After installed SmartFilter will detect all of our contact, and you can give someone "tick" for the person who you want can't call you, but we still can se his/her effort to call us, it's come as missed call.
Not just that, it even have a profile, and beside a name from your contac it can reject unknown caller or without number caller.....

Why bother? There is a blacklist on your phone already that blocks calls....
I use that, however I haven't figured out how to block unknown numbers is why I ask. Also, the built in app allows blocked callers to leave voicemail

Only thing I notice with this app is that it shut off data at reboot and takes a bit to turn back on. Other than that, it works as it should

All apps will take the caller to voicemail unless you call tmobile and tell them to change it. I had to do it when I used the call blocker app on vibrant before I found the blacklist. After you have tmo change it, if you stop the ring by rejecting the call or if they are on blacklist, it will ring busy. If you let the call "ring out" for lack of a better term, it will take the caller to voicemail. Also, there should be a tab in the blacklist to reject unknown callers.
thanks for the info very helpful
it would help if I had the Unknown number checked in the auto reject options
thanks again
i have used "MR. Number" from Market and it worked pretty good for me.
I use extreme call blocker. and you can set it like pick up and hang up. found in the market
Yep, the two best ones are made by the same company:
Root Call Blocker (for general use):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Call Master (for advanced users):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
These are the only blockers that completely block everything without turning the screen on. Need to be rooted though.
My Evo had a nice call blocking setup built in (may have been after I rooted but am not sure) where you had the option in the edit contact menu to block them. It would not ring through unless I was on the other line which was fine and it would push them right to voicemail.
I just got my Note 2 and have not been able to find a way to do this. It has that block call built in that will disable all calls but that is far from ideal because I would need to allow permissions for every other contact and then I would have the call block icon on the top all the time.
Any ideas? I already did a search and came up empty save for a few apps that have their own caveats.
I use Google Voice for this. I think is better than blocking on the Note 2 (dunno about the setup on your Evo) because all blocking on the Note 2 does is make it so you don't get the call. On their end they still hear it ring four times and then go to voicemail. With Google Voice if you set it to block it tells the caller that the number has been disconnected. If you set it to send to voicemail, it doesn't even ring on their end, it goes straight to voicemail.
There is also call screening. You answer the call and then press 1 to let them through or 2 to send them to voicemail. I you send them to voicemail, you can hear what they are saying and can pick up at any time. And there is setting to have unknown callers say who they are before you decide to let them through or go to voicemail.
Plus it has really cheap international calling (my Dad goes to Thailand all the time for work and I can call his Thailand number for $.03/minute (yes 3 cents). I think Sprint charges over $3/minute unless you sign up for their international plan for extra monthly, and even then it is a lot more expensive).
And you can send and receive text messages for free from any computer in the world (and it will show up as your Sprint number so long as you choose to have your Sprint number be your GV number.
And probably more I am forgetting.
And all free. Well, except international calling. You have to pay (a little bit) for that.

I hear ya on that one, I came from the Evo4G also and no you are not mistaken it was a stock option to send contact to voicemail. I too was amazed that this phone didn't have that option in the contact window/menu. As of right now unless you download a 3rd party app to setup a call blocker/blacklist that will either send to voicemail, answer+hang up, or block. Otherwise you have to do like you stated and create a block list and allow everyone but the specified contact which is just ridiculous. Cause in that instance you cannot let through people who are not on your contacts so basically if you want to block a certain contact you have to go to the market to the best of my knowledge. But I had the same issue the other morning, I had someone blowing my phone up when I was sleeping. I looked on my phone forever then went to google search and the forums, and came up with no STOCK resolutions to the issue.
Try hitting menu from the call log screen then call rejection

SIP calling option does not work on my HTC One M9. Did anyone else see this behavior. I set the SIP calling setting to 'Ask for every call'. SIP aaccount registers fine (for receiving calls).
When I make the call, I select Internet call and then select the SIP account, but then the call still goes out as 'Verizon' ..
What could I be missing here?
phone details
stock/non-rooted
android 5.0.2
baseband - [email protected]
build - 1.33.605.15 CL511781 release-keys
(essentially latest OTA version from vzw)
thanks!
You need to have their sip connection added to their contact. Are you sure you are using sip contacts?

Don't think I follow you. The number I dial can be dialed via SIP account (or) my VZW number, based on where I am. How do I specify a SIP contact..? It's just a 10 digit phone number, no?
Maybe I am missing something here?

In that case, it sounds like your registration is still failing phone side and it's defaulting to cell.. I can't help you there...

ah, that makes sense.. i see a 'receiving calls' text under the account name and thought it's registered. app tries to register again while making an outbound call and it's failing.. so any way i can see the log or something similar to pin down the cause?

Still have not been able to make the outbound SIP calling work.. The SIP account registers just fine (says 'Receiving Calls'). Perhaps the phone is diverting SIP calls via VoLTE even after selecting the appropriate SIP account to call from. Disabling the advaced calling option is not helping either...
This is very weird. Anyone else successfull in making an outbound call via SIP account (via callcentric/localphone account etc) from M9??

Nope - I'm now on Marshmallow and no solution yet. Perhaps VZW blocks outbound SIP for some weird reason

Same phenomenon with my HTC 10. I used SIP calls with htc one X for a long time, switched to HTC 10 with same settings. When I make a call, wierdly it is redirecting to operator.
Could not find anything on HTC website.
Maybe it is related with android versions.
oneX's version as I remember was Kitkat
10's version is Marshmallow
Are you using the native SIP? Have you tried a third party app? I currently use Grandstream Wave with no issues (MM, stock, rooted).

Did your G4 come with native call blocking? My Verizon G4 doesn't have (I suspect they removed it) any native call blocking. I'm currently using "Call Blacklist Pro" and it's working the way I want, only my contacts will ring through. All other numbers go straight to VM. I get anywhere from 0 to 6 calls per week from blocked or unknown numbers, and so far they've all been blocked.
If you use something else, what is it? I'm open to trying new options. While my current app is working OK, I still wish my G4 had native blocking like my Galaxy S4. I wish Verizon would stop removing stuff.
It's there on Verizon, but hidden. I used an app called quick shortcut maker. Search for reject. You'll see a call reject activity. Make the shortcut on your home screen, and it works great.
if you have root, use RCB Root Call Block Pro... the best Call Blocker i every seen
thank you so much. I was getting rather aggravated that Verizon hid call blocking. Had it on my note 3 and just got a g4 today and there was no call block list. Glad its still there, even if it is hidden.
Verizon charges for call blocking, of course they hid it.

Other ways to see rejected calls is, simply go to call logs, and you will see a "red crossed" circle down the numbers call rejected for.
