I wiped my os as it was having an explorer force close issue that I was to lazy to fix. Now when I plug my phone it it keeps registering the unregistering over and over. Plug it into another computer and it works fine. What am I doing wrong??

Does the other computer have Android SDK Tools or HTC Sync installed on it? What OS's are both of these computers?
Both Windows 7, the PC that doesn't work has HTC sync installed, the other has neither the SDK or HTC sync
uninstalling HTC sync does not help the issue. Problem persists even without (and before) HTC Sync
Could be USB drivers. I have heard this can cause issues in windows. Unfutuantly i do not use windows so i cannot direct you further

to my knowledge i uninstalled those.
Not to double post or be annoying. But Bump.
I'd really like to know whats wrong..
What does Device Manager show? A yellow question mark or anything? Did you install all of the correct pc drivers after the rebuild, either off of the CD it came with or from the manufacturers site?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
It show's h: with a yellow exclamation mark, by time i select it the device stops registering again. I used the HTC drivers from the HTC Sync app from the site.
Was there anything else in Device Manager that had the exclamation point? Is your phone rooted? If so, try installing Unrevoked's USB drivers. You are selecting disk drive on your phone when you connect it to your computer right?

I just updated my already rooted Evo from 2.1update 1 to 2.2 using the HTC-OTA-3.26.651.6-Final-Froyo-Rooted-Odexed-netarchy-signed4.zip
Now after update, everything but the USB works. I've uninstalled the HTC sync and drivers programs, reinstalled them, turned off and on USB debugging, and even went in to recovery mode and rebooted the device.
What am I missing?

Same thing happened to me. I actually ended up using a different computer that had never had HTC sync installed on it. Then I did a complete wipe and then rebooted. Worked fine after that.

I've seen this happening to several people recently. Try uninstalling HTC sync on your PC. Install the Android SDK and download the USB drivers as instructed. Plugin your phone and open device manager on your PC and look for the item that has a yellow exclamation point next to Android device. Right-click the item and select update drivers and proceed to manually install the drivers from the ones downloaded from the Android SDK (there is tutorial on the website with screenshots).
Hopefully that works. I'm not entirely sure why this is happening to so many that have recently rooted 2.2.

Okay, I'm a little confused what do you mean by "reflash the MTD", and Tiffany84, what did you wipe and reboot, the PC or the Evo?
Does anyone know the fix for this, as I have two PC's (an XP and WIN7) that have the problem of loosing USB connection and then one that I used to use that still has HTC Sync 2.4 that does work.
This seems like a driver version issue. What's the fix????????
Solution Found - But Still Have Questions
So I Moved the USB cable to a USB port that had never been used for the EVO, it was originally used for the keyboard.
I uninstalled the HTC Sync software and the HTC driver package (that's installed the with HTC Sync), and I deleted a couple of folders with drivers I'd downloaded just to be safe.
I then swapped the USB keyboard with the EVO plug, and the the XP machine loaded the ADB drivers and recognized the EVO as a removable drive. So it seems to be working.
However, there seems to be a bug in the update process that's affecting the USB driver. So I hope and pray someone will identify the problem and come up with a solution.
Just bought a new Htc DHD vodafone brandend the netherlands (no custom rom and 2.50.161.2 software number and 2.3.3 android) and I'm experiencing a problem with my usb:
When I hook up my phone to my laptop(win 7 bit32), other laptop(win 7 bit 32) and desktop (win 7 bit 64) nothing shows on "My Computer", my phone just charges and thats it, the menu screen of which type of connection I want shows up and when I choose USB disk drive or HTC Sync nothing happens .
I tried with debug mode and without, I used 2 different formated sd cards, I used different usb ports, I tried a hard reset and different factory reset.
Could it be the drivers as when I go to my devices I come across a warning sing next to the htc and I also notice a "My Htc" not installed.
I downloaded htc sync and installed yet my phone doesn't show up, I installed with and without internet as I read that windows could install wrong drivers :s
What could this be ?
Are you using the correct data cable.
i can undestand htc sync not working cuz its crap but it should detectdisk drive unless you skipped the windows install.
go to control panel > add/remove hardware and uninstall anything related to htc. Plug phone in. Select disk drive. Hope windows detects it. Good luck

I deleted all drivers related to the htc and when I rebooted and connected my phone to my laptop, my laptop made a sound, stard searching for a driver for "my htc" using windows update and found nothing and described my htc as unknown device.
Yes..windows wont install the drives needed for sync but will be able to istall it as a disk drive.. htc sync is a pain to get working i gave up.

Somebody know where I can find the usb drivers for the htc dhd, so i can install them manually ?
Hello,
For some reason my HTC Desire Z isn't recognized in Windows anymore.
It appears as Unknown Device in the Dev Man.
I have tried uninstalling all the drivers, and using the Google ADB drivers, but they won't install. I have also tried the HBOOT drivers, but when I am in HBOOT screen and plug the phone it won't even say HBOOT USB PLUG...
Funnily, when I start up the computer, before Windows is loaded, my phone says USB debugging, USB connected, and all of that - and as soon as Windows comes up, these things go away and the phone isn't recognized.
Please help!
Simone
Try downloading and installing HTC Sync (from HTC's website). That has USB drivers in it, which should work.
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
I did, but for some reason it won't overwrite the old driver. Maybe something is wrong hardwire-wise, because I get "Unknown Device" and not "Android" in the Dev Man. However, the USB connection seems to come up on the phone before Windows starts up (weird?)
Give me a few hours and when I get home I should be able to upload the driver package I use for mine.
This is the drivers I use.

Manualy update the drivers to your phone in devices, properties. Also there is a windows application that can search out all the drivers on your system called usb search or something to that order, you can stop your phone from seeking these drivers manualy and set up the proper ones

Oh, thank you for all your replies.
It turns out that my cable must have been defective. I tried to manually install the drivers and really nothing worked, so that's where the problem was.
Thank you again!
I want to root my One X. When I plug the phone into my computer with USB debugging enabled, the My HTC driver has a yellow exclamation point by it, with code 52. It says the driver isn't signed, and it doesn't seem to be working. If I try to do adb devices, the phone doesn't show up. I've tried installing the frivers manually, and with HTC Sync and Sync Manager both. The driver is the same one on my old HTC Vivid, and that isn't showing either, both have the same error with the My HTC driver. If someone could help me install the drivers, that would be some help.
Also, I am on 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

Try disable your anti virus and install the drivers again. You may also need it disabled when your phone is connected.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I'll try that, and come back, it looks to me as though it is just Windows acting confused, cause the error is in device manager.

I'm on 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium and this is the driver that I use. May it helps you.
I used the driver you supplied, but I got this with the official driver, and that one.
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

Hello,
I have a problem the my HTC One X and my (Windows 7 x64) Computer. It won't install the correct drivers to use ADB and to see it in Windows Explorer. I've tried everythingI can think of. I know there thousands of other threads like this, and I read many of them but none provide a solution for me :/. I'm sure my One X is not the problem, it's working fine, I have a laptop wich also runs Windows 7 x64 and it's all working fine on it. (It's a Lenovo Ideapad Z500, i7 version) What I've tried:
- 4 different USB Ports (I have tried 2 USB2 ports and 2 USB3 ports. No luck.
- Remove the device from system using Windows Device Manager -> Disconnect phone -> Install HTC Sync -> Reboot -> connect phone. Nothing happens, Windows reports no drivers can be found.
- Manually select drivers from the HTC Sync Installation folder. Windows tells me those aren't the correct drivers. (For me: C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64)
And yes, USB debugging is on, and I do accept HTC Sync Manager on my phone. I am running ARHD 31.0. My phone does connect OK in Fastboot mode, by the way. I can use Fastboot commands perfectly fine. (Flash boot/recovery image, clear cache etc etc)
I have no idea what to do to get it working, but maybe you guys do? Any tips/ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Had this problem last week. I solved it this way:
- Uninstalled HTC Sync + HTC Drivers
- Installed ADB Universal Drivers: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Clockworkmod/Clockworkmod-Universal-Android-ADB-Driver.shtml
- Rebooted PC
- Booted my HOX in bootloader
- went to fastboot
- connected usb cable between pc and hox
- went in recovery mod (latest cwm version)
- from there I was able to push adb commands from my pc
I basically did what is said on this page: http://news.softpedia.com/news/A-Clockworkmod-Universal-ADB-Driver-Is-Finally-Up-for-Grabs-343944.shtml
You can also use ADB over network if your phone boot properly and if your PC is on the same wifi network.
Thanks Alray for the tips but it doesn't install that driver either. Still a big ! in device manager named Android Phone. And I shouldn't need to push anything to the phone AFAIK, as I said it all works fine on the laptop, Including ADB!
What if u turn on 'automatically install from windows update' option and let the windows make the work.

It says it can't find good drivers in Windows Update.
Did u enabled the option?
This morning I faced the same problem since I recovered my pc to windows 7 x64 ultimate. And fixed it through the option, when I come home ill take screenshots and post. Btw the options are in the bottom of the window where it says driver failed.

All options I can find about downloading drivers from the internet are enabled. When I tell the PC to look online for drivers, it won't find anything.
EDIT:
Okay, I had the setup look thru the whole C drive looking for drivers, it reported it found one. But failed installing because files were missing..... !? That makes me think there's something corrupt in Windows/System32/Drivers or somewhere in those driver folders.
Try this Link I think it is helpfull, if didn't help I will but when I reach home.

Thanks for the link I was looking for something like that. But nothing works, I already had setup everything automatic updating and driver search thru windows update. It can't find any drivers.
Hey, I just wanted to chime in on this thread because I'm having precisely the same problem as Qubica.
I'm using Windows 7/64 and I've been using this laptop to manage/root/ADB several Android devices for as long as I've owned it.
I noticed last Friday that I could no longer mount my T-Mobile G2 either as a USB mass-storage device nor could I connect to it using ADB. This was the day after Windows Update installed a bunch of patches, and I had also installed the updated chipset drivers for my laptop a few days earlier.
I took a look at the device manager and this is what I saw:
(android_devmgmt.png)
Now, that's weird because I mount the storage card at least two times a month to move files around. So I did what seemed like the reasonable thing and Uninstalled the device altogether, and then installed the HTC Sync app to reinstall the drivers, as I had done originally. Unfortunately, the "Android Phone" non-detection of the device has persisted.
The installation logs from the HTC Sync app also indicates that the drivers were successfully installed, but the installer seems to quit about halfway through the process, so it's not at all clear that the installation logs are accurate.
Here's what the properties sheet of that device looks like:
(android_devmgmt_properties.png)
I've been following the advice I've read here and elsewhere: I've attempted to download several different versions of the HTC drivers from various locations and manually point Device Manager at the folders containing those drivers. I've extracted and executed the HTCDriver.exe installer separately from the HTC Sync installer. I've attempted to install generic ADB drivers from a number of locations, including Google and the Clockworkmod Universal ADB drivers.
Here's the result when I try to install the drivers (by pointing Windows at the correct location for the driver files) or if I allow Windows Update to search for the drivers:
(cant-find-android-driver.png)
So, this morning I tried the more drastic step of uninstalling all of the USB Root Hub devices and rebooting the laptop. When the computer came back, it did not automagically reload those generic drivers, but fortunately I was able to manually choose the generic (Standard USB Host Controller) -> USB Root Hub device from the list of options, and it worked---for getting the USB ports to function, but not the Android device.
I've also checked to make sure there were no software restriction policies in place in gpedit.msc that affected the installation of the drivers, and found none. I also poked around in the Registry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\PnpLockdownFiles path and found no problems there with either permissions or settings.
I'm basically at my wit's end here; Windows is behaving like the driver installation is subject to a software restriction policy -- seemingly, actively preventing the driver from being installed -- but nothing shows up in the logs that would indicate that a policy is in place. The laptop can't mount the device, and I'm kind of stuck.
I guess I'll follow the thread for a while and see if anyone else has any suggestions. Thanks in advance to all that offer their help.

Anybody?
I prefer uninstalling the driver (Called unknown device, and it appears when I plug the device) from device manager, unplug your device then replug it again and wait for windows to get your driver.

Not at the moment, but I can get it.
If you can't solve the drivers problem, install linux then install adb and fastboot packages from the sftware marketplace. That should help.

I'll have to do that tonight, I can't access my PC right now. But you mean the notification on bottom right corner? If I click on it a small window pops up saying "ANDROID PHONE: No drivers found" with a red cross.
