From what I know theres Vignette and Camera360 something, which one takes a better image and I heard with the latest Vignette you cant silence the camera shutter even if you choose the silent settings in the apps menu.. anyone tried this ?

I just picked this phone up last night on my way home from work - I haven't even had time to test it since I had to spend my night testing software for a release this morning.
But anyway - the little I've played with it (let's be honest, I was up until 2am checking it out after I was done working), I'm really impressed.
My only disappointment (far outweighed by the camera quality and fact that this has a flash - unlike my last Android phone) is that there's no dedicated camera button.
But, I realize, my thumb is resting right on the volume down button as I hold my phone... and that's true for most Android phones really.
Is there a camera app out there that maps the volume down button (or better yet, allow you to map any button you want) to be a shutter button when the camera app is open?

I apologize - I meant to post this in the "General" forum not the "accessories" forum for the Epic Touch 4G.
Can a moderator move this thread? Sorry about that.
There is a paid app in the market called Vignette that allows you to use the volume up or down button for a camera button. It takes better pictures than the stock camera and has more effects before and after the pics are taken. There is also a demo version that you can try before you buy. It really is superb!
Camera Zoom FX, which I love, supports button mappings.
That brings up a good point...
...the stock camera has no zoom, I see.
Vignette and Camera Zoom FX both do, so that alone justifies the extra cost, a bit.
Camera Zoom FX costs a bit more than Vignette, but Vignette has an odd disclaimer when you use the zoom, the preview pic that it shows is grainy and pixellated - "but don't worry, the actual picture isn't" the disclaimer says - but IMO that rather defeats the purpose of having a preview pic.
does Camera Zoom FX have any such disclaimer? Does the preview pic show clearly if you use the zoom?
the volume rocker is the zoom. or you can pinch to zoom with stock camera.

I just downloaded both, Camera Zoom FX apk, and Vignette apk, and both of them have the option for silent shutter but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
Looks like root is the only option to silence the shutter sound.

I'm looking for camera app that has:
* fast brust picture option
* panorama picture option
* macro
* face detection
* Image Stabilizer (especially while using flash in dark places)
Now I use the default app the comes with SGS3 but I have always blury pictures when I take pictures at night \ in dark places. Panorama pictures also blury.
Any suggestions?
There are other camera apps out there, check Google Play Store under the Apps, Photography section and play around with any app that takes your fancy.
Try to remember that the SGS3 is a camera phone, not a camera. Night shots will be tricky on this phone due to sensor size, led flash and 2.6 f stop.
The stock camera app does all you want apart from good low light stabilization. Image stabilization will not prevent blur in photos. High iso speed and fast shutter will but you will loose image quality.

what about the blury panorama shot?
Camera ZOOM FX has a nice stable shot feature and also burst shot mode, but i doubt it has panorama feature.
Buy "procapture" clearly the best camera atm.also contains most of the features u request
Edit: if u want a really cool, featurerich gallery go for "fish bowl photo gallery",it's free in market
I'd have to say Camera360 or CameraZoomFX. For burst shooting i think you'll have to stick with the stock app.
my stock camera app really bothers me.
white balance is based on the center of the photo instead of where i choose to focus.
after i choose a focus point of a picture, it refocuses after a few seconds every time.
anyone know of a post with a solution to this annoying problem?
please link to a thread for me =)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385554 is this the only fix?
what does the new OTA firmware and camera firmware update do for this issue?
i consider the whitebalance based on the center of the photo to be a massive flaw.
Use a different camera app, like Camera360, set the white balance manually, or adjust it later in Picsay.
Hello
I just noticed that camera aperture is set default to f/1.5.
Wonder if there's a way to change it. Believe it leads to impaired photos in 3rd party apps.
Change it in Pro mode under the shutter setting

Well, i didn't mention. Agree it works well in stock camera app but im talking about 3rd party software like instagram, snapchat. Aperture stays always open.
I am trying to set my camera up as a temporary streaming option by mirroring my phone screen on my PC with the camera app. The obvious issue being all of the UI on the camera preview screen. I have tried some of the streaming apps, but they don't have all of the features of the stock camera app (like utilizing the wide-angle lens). Does anyone know if I am missing anything? Or is it just impossible?
