touch panel synt0101
radio 5.11.05.27
MODEL A8181
NETWORK HSPA/WCDMA (900/1200MhZ)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (800/900/1800/1900Mhz)
IT`S MADE IN TAIWAN (C E 0682)

whats the model number written on the phone. [ behind the battery ]

Ok well if its CDMA you won't have a sim card in it if it's GSM you will. The slcd - amoled will not make much difference to the ROM as that is what type of screen your device has - easiest way to tell this is put up a completely black photo on slcd it will appear grey at the edges because slcd is backlit armoled will all be black black - do this in low light to see easily which screen you have if you can't see anything in pitch black its armoled

It's spelled AMOLED actually
And yeah, otherwise nicely said, CDMA/GSM and SLCD/AMOLED are two entirely different type of things. One more thing to check before rooting is whether your device is branded or not.

if you have an s-lcd you will see it written behind the accu

[Q] [q] htc desire s-lcd or amoled???

Hello,
ok guys, maybe it's just a noob question. i just bought an htc desire fron orange france, and i want to use stock htc rom, but how do i know if my phone has an amoled or an S-LCD DISPLAY????
Thank you
Unfortunately I can't give you a straightforward answer. You can either check the version of your hboot by going to settings\about (not sure if you can see it there) or power off, power on+hold vol down button. You will see a white screen with several options, if you don't see HBOOT, click fastboot it should be there. If the version is 0.83 or higher it is slcd probably. Alternative - flash unrevoked and when your device boots into recovery, if your screen is black or just htc with black bar it is slcd. This will Root your phone though!! If you're with black screen don't worry, just flash unrevoked again with the slcd recovery image (file\flash custom recovery in unrevoked)
I found mine is slcd the hard way, didn't knew there are 2 screen types

why dont u check the box?
if it does not say amoled then its SLCD.
no description of the display panel on the box, neither on user manual!!!!
When all else fails take out the box and manual
Ronaldo_9 had in mind that if you have on the box "3,7" Amoled" it is amoled, if it says "3.7" touch-sensitive screen" then it is slcd. It's on the back of the box.
you can tell by looking at the screen closely...
slcd pixel arrangement:
ooooo
ooooo
ooooo
Amoled
ooooo
_ooooo
ooooo
As a result amoled gives a jagged look to the edge of text and other objects.

Black screen showing green tint...

Hey guys,
picked up my desire a few weeks back, only just started using it the other day (was researching best way to transfer PIM data from HD2).
anyway, i was playing around with some of the built in apps and junk last night...in a room with the light off, and noticed that when the screen was black (on/illuminated, but not colour - the desk clock screen).. there is a reasonable strong green tint down the right hand side of the display. i have done a little research and have read some people have complains of green/blue/pink hues to their entire display.. but my green stain is only on part of the screen.
anyone else have this problem?
i went back to the store i got it from, they said that HTCs exchange policy requires me to send my device back, they will look at it and either repair or replace. seeing as the reason i bought the desire is to desperately escape WINMO, i figure the slight bug of a green stain is less of an inconvenience than using my HD2 for a few more weeks.
cheers.
Could be down to having a SLCD screen as opposed to an AMOLED one
The blue tint to the amoled screen is there on purpose, blue led's die alot quicker than other ones, samsung make there screen to over display blue, as your device gets older this blue will slowly die to a yellowy colour! Maybe the green tint is related?

I'm assuming so if it was only purchased a few weeks ago, could be wrong
yeah guys... i got the SLCD version.
i dont think its a natural screen 'quirk'.. as it only appears on a small portion of the screen.
cheers for the replies though ey.
I have the same problem on both my desires. One of them has a finish tint in the middle of the screen and this one has like a brighter spot on the top right of the screen. I have the SLCD screens. I bought the phones in Wisconsin.
Off topic
I feel so alone on this forum because everyone talks about the GSM version. Is there any news about froyo update for this phone on US Cellular? I love the phone but getting tired of waiting all the time. I just heard there's 3.0 coming out on the 11th of November. But not for Desire. I'm sure it will be there when my contract is over. Lol.

I started by the same procedure given on the
website. But the procedure didn't work for me,
when I commanded adb devices it never
showed my phone then when I commanded '
get oem identifier token ' I got another error. I
got frustrated
2- Then I went on to the mini_adb method by
using shell, Su commands
It neither worked
3- After that I came across the downgrade and
boot method, it resulted into a brick
But no worries my pals !!
Unbricked successfully !!
basically it was an Indian phone so some strong

Desire SLCD Display broken. Replace with AMOLED?

Hi,
i have a (little) problem. I got a SCLD Version of the HTC Desire. But the Display is broken. I have replaced the display with a new one, but the replacement display seems to be an AMOLED version (Samung Logo on the back). My problem is now, when i turn on the phone, the display stays off (black). After a little search in the forum i see that an AMOLED Rom don't have the correct drivers for an SLCD Desire. But i have a SLCD Rom and need an AMOLED Rom. Does somebody know if i replace the SLCD display with an AMOLED and flash an AMOLD Rom (factory HTC Rom), that the phone will turn on my display?
I don't know which version i can flash, because there are so many different Roms.
Unfortunately i only know that the desire have android 2.1 (O2) but it seems not to be branded. I also don't know the current HBOOT version. Forehanded i have created a Goldcard for the Desire with the adb.
Thanks in advance.

Dont know how much this will help you..But, when my Desire was given for warranty, they 'accidentally' put in an AMOLED display instead of the SLCD with which it came, and then had to replace the board too with an AMOLED compatible board since the board "didnt recognize the AMOLED" (their words). I don't know if your problem can be solved with the software alone, but I'd rather someone else takes this question..
So the only way to bring it back to life is to send the display back and install a SLCD display? What a pity.
Yes, you need a slcd display.

how to identify my htc desire (no working screen)

hi all, the desire i have came in an orange box so its not identified as amoled or slcd. It needs a new screen but i dont know which one to buy, I understand how to identify by removing but i need to buy a kit that contains the tools to get it out, anyway of identifying which one it will be so i can buy a replacement
thanks
If your desire has an amoled screen, then it's written on the box. If it's not, your desire has a SLCD-screen. No guarantee, but this is what I read very often.
He just said he has a orange box without the information.

He only said it came in an orange box. And with orange box I assumed he meant the provider. So let's wait what he says.
thanks guys the reason i mentioned orange box is because its documented that this box doesnt have the slcd or amoled info on it, so still stuck
thanks
The AMOLED screen shows a distinctive pinkish tint on the white HTC logo screen especially when screen is tilted. When the screen is on a totally black screen LCD shows lights, LED should be fully black. There is no difference in hardware info. Though there is one definite test-Pre 1.21 RUUs softbrick SLCD Desires-but I wouldnt recommend that test.
Of course these wont help a broken device.
your right, doesnt help at all, but thanks
i guess the only way is to buy the tools seperately and take the screen out and see what it actually is and then replace
thanks guys

first check whether the phone is rooted or not?
check for its batch number and if it has any screen flickers or yellow spot on skin
and ask for the original bill so that if u get any problems, it can be repaired as htc gives us 1 year international warranty
reboot your phone into hboot: power button and volume -
and on the first line it will be written ***LOCKED*** or ***UNLOCKED*** or ***RELOCKED***
if it's locked, it's ok for warranty and other... if it is unlocked or relocked then you may have problem with warranty... anyway, you have to unlock it if you want to install custom kernel and roms.
then check if it doesn't have any hardware fault, like wifi fault (can be repaired manually opening device), or screen flickering, yellow spot, and others...
Have purchased the htc one x. Looking to root it but htcdev keep tellling me i am not logged in . .
make sure no yellow marks
Make sure that there is no yellow marks on screen when you are on pages with white background
