I searched this but couldn't find an answer to this specific question:
How can I backup my settings (home screen config, email accounts, calendars) and restore them after a full wipe and custom ROM install?
Thanks!
By the way, I am using Android Revolution HD 2.0.11 and want to upgrade to 2.0.12.
I have root, s-off, ClockWorkMod Recovery 3
Maybe I need to give some more background info.
I know how to backup and restore with Titanium Backup.
The problem is that I want to restore *only* the settings related to home (desktop), email, and calendars.
Thanks.

Don't know about android revolution but if you are using adw launcher you can backup up your desktop config from within that, calendar settings could be dealt with by google and my backup for email settings
I have downloaded MyBackup Root (free) and it lets me backup exactly what I wanted.
I still haven't tried the restore though... When I do I'll post back here.

When i saw your first post, i was going to ask you to use MyBackup pro works well...importing everything from 2.0.11 to 2.0.12 might cause problems.

I have used it this weekend. Restoring contacts resulted in double contacts (I assume it is because the phone downloaded them from Google).
My home screen was restored fine, but it used to be "Work" scene and it restored as "HTC" (default) scene.
Restoring Home, Contacts, Calendar, does not restore account information (I guess it is stored in System).

I just updated to the leaked Froyo Rom. Before doing so, I backed up using Titanium. Then, once the Rom was installed, I did a restore of "all applications and system settings." But for some reason, all my homescreen settings did not return. For example, on one Homescreen, I had the Touchdown Calendar widget, which has now been replaced by the HTC mail widget.
What happened to my homescreens and all the widgets I had arranged on them? Argh, this is exactly what I didn't want to happen!!!!!
Edit: And it didn't restore any of my SMS messages either!!!! Where is everything?
Edit #2: Also, all of my Stock data, Facebook setup, Twitter setup is all empty. I thought this was all supposed to restore with Titanium. I used "backup all apps and system data" before moving to this ROM.
not a good idea to restore data if you were coming from any 2.1 rom

There is nothing wrong with Titanium, unless you want to argue that it should be programmed with even more features than it already has to prevent you from being able to do what you did. You restored settings and configurations that were from a different system version, and things didn't work right -- no surprise there.
I don't know what you can do about your SMS backups (I have never saved any), but as for the rest you probably need to bite the bullet. Wipe, re-flash the ROM, then set everything up again from scratch and if you are going restore old stuff with TI, stick to apps this time.
Good luck!
Worked great for me...but I only do apps and make sure to unchecked what I don't want

You asked about it in the other thread and it was explicitly stated...
You never want to restore system files from one version of a rom to another, it can only create problems.

better to restore one by one, apps should restore fine, but accounts and such that are os specific surely wont work

If I've already lost the data/setup settings, why would I Wipe, re-flash, and set up everything from scratch. It's not like 2.2 is crashing after I did the Titanium restore, I'm just missing my SMSes and my home screen arrangement.

Whatever floats your boat. Personally I wouldn't trust the integrity of the system after doing what you did, and would want to *know* that everything was proper before calling it a day.

For future reference, 'SMS Backup & Restore' is a much better option for backing up your SMS messages. Never rely on Titanium Backup for SMS backups.

I used SMS backup and restore, but for 2nd time since I've had it, I didn't realize the scheduled backups just stopped occurring for no reason. So I lost my SMSes from the past couple weeks. Must be a bug in the program.
use launcherpro home app. it has an option to backup and restore all your icons and homescreen settings (minus widgets due to system limitations)
anytime im wiping and installing, i do a couple things
1. backup apps thru titanium then verify backed up apps
2. backup homescreen and settings thru launcher pro
3. drocap2 all my home screens so i can resetup my widgets
4. nandroid
all 4 items happen everytime, I have little worry about ever losing my settings.

Did you do a nandroid backup like you should do before every single wipe of your phone? No?
Well if you did then you would be able to go into ClockworkMod Recovery -> nandroid -> advanced recovery -> restore data. When you reboot the phone EVERYTHING will be exactly just like you left it on your previous 2.1 installation. I have done this and have not had one single problem. Not one single thing is in a different place then it was when I was using 2.1. All my text messages, call logs, home screen widgets, ect. are there.

I did use Nandroid, but I want to move to 2.2. Is there any way to move to 2.2 without losing the system data? If the answer is "no," I don't understand. What happens when HTC releases the official version, do they expect people to delete all their apps, homescreens, etc every time an update is released?

i used titanium backup for apps+system settings going from skyraider 1.9 to 2.0 and i ran into very small problems like getting my wallpaper to load and being able to restore my adw settings. As far as i can see so far no big deal
i used mybackup pro to back up apps+data then my home screens, sms, dictionary and a few other things. pretty much had my phone exactly the way it was when i had it running 2.1
he's not totally alone
Some slack should be cut for the OP as he's not alone in the widget issue. I have used TB for ages now perfectly ok to swap apps and info from my 2 x10's. But this last time I have ended up with a home screen that has "missing" widgets. The screen space is allocated so I can't replace them but the widget doesn't show or work. I have put this down to the 2 phones not have.g the same home screen layout, but is bloody annoying as now I can't reclaim this space!!
The big "how do you restore your apps and settings after flashing a ROM" thread?
Hi all,
Just rooted my phone a couple of days ago and been playing around with some ROMS.
Now I've found one to my liking so I am installing configuring everything again but what if there's a new version of my ROM I want to install, I have to do everything all over again which is a bit silly in this modern time
As I see it
- you have apps installed from market
- you have manually installed apps (e.g. modded widgets, applications and stuff)
I currently use Astro to backup the apps, this works well but
- the market doesn't recognize the apps (to do with market cache I suppose)
workaround: you can use the atrackdog app to follow application updates
- it doesn't restore app settings
some of my apps have backup mechanisms of their own but not all
I've flashed a GB rom now and I've selected the google backup option, is this reliable? What does it exactly backup?
Any other tools available? I heard about titanium back but also read stories where it doesn't always work.
Anyhoew: what do you use? what works for you?
Would be great if we could consolidate everything here and figure out the best/easiest way.
Cheers
B

Yes, they do.
ok great so how's the best way to use this?
I've downloaded the free version, and the busybox
I guess I have to use the filter for files of type "user" so I only see my apps?
which batch should I run then, backup all user data + system data?
*edit will this restore stuff like my launcher settings and design, email accounts in enhanced email and stuff like that too?
cheers

Don't know, just used it to backup my Angry Birds saves as the rest I do from scratch anyway

Almost everything will be restored. Free version will prompt for each app
Swyped with my Starburst based Desire. Forgive any typos!
Be careful backing up system settings though as they often don't restore very well on different ROMs, i broke my first flash on Cyanogen by restoring bluetooth settings from a Sense ROM.
I use My backup Pro app for this
And I can backup and restore everything but the widgets
Open Titanium, click Backup/restore, hold down the menu key then go to batch, then backup all user apps. Don't back up system settings, as this will conflict with the new OS and cause instabilities. Android should auto backup Wi-Fi and calendars online for you, mine does, but it's Gingerbread 2.3.3 I'm not sure if this feature was around in the Froyo days.
Everything will be restored as it was, except widgets on the homescreen, you'll need to remove them and put them back on, all settings for them will save so you don't have to mess about customizing things.
You've probably worked it out by now, but just in case this is my 2 cents.
I'm using Titanium Backup for the Apps.
For the Messages I've got MyBackup and MIUI Backup but I prefer MyBackup because I've got different Roms.
But I never restore the System Settings.
I just don't factory reset, format, wipe or however you call it when I flash a rom, I lose the texts though.
Need to know somethin'...
When i go to backup/restore tab in TB every app got some sign. And I can make every backup except some apps with orange smileys?! What is that orange smileys means? I'm asking that 'cause I have to flash new Oxygen ROM completely clean, and can't restore CONTACTS backup. So it's very important to me (of course) to restore my contacts...

Ok. Thanks so why can't restore contacts? that's what I want to know
Hello.
I never tried to restore system apps with titanium back-up, because of the incompatibility that may appear (with other ROM's) but instead I've used the MyBackUp Pro to restore contacts, SMS and Call Log. I went through 2 custom ROM's already and all good.
Another way of restoring contacts is to sync your Phone contacts with the Gmail Account, and when you're installing the new ROM (Sense has Google Apps already, AOSP don't, but may be available to download and flash separately) it will instantly sync and restore your accounts.
If further help needed, please post.

Are you S-Off?
Possibility is that TI Backup wants to move it (or some parts) to the system partition - so probably you need to S-Off your device.
I'm S-OFF and it works for me. Also, you need to check if the backed up and the current storage version is the same (e.g. 2.3.3)

Take a look in my signature
good morning
I first want to apologize for my English, I write from Spain.
I use in my OneX the HD revolution mike rom 6.1.1. Mike currently has released the new version 7.0.0 on a new base of HTC.
The question I have is that I now fully configured 6.1.1 rom to my taste, and to load the new version 7.0 should do a full wipe.
You start from scratch you to configure, or you employ a program to backup and restore, and to write the roms automatically configured to your liking?
I have seen many people use the titanium backup, but as a new base, I have to copy EVERYTHING? I do not know if it really is effective
I hope you have understood me, thank you very much in advance!
I use Ultimate Backup Pro, but Titanium Backup Pro will also work...
Ultimate Backup Pro will let you restore all apps + data. That should take care of all your downloaded apps.
Ultimate Backup Pro also can take backup of your account settings (Google, Facebook, etc)
For SMS, Call Logs I use the following apps available in market
SMS Backup & Restore
Call Logs Backup & Restore
Contacts: Google, as I do not have any phone / SIM contacts. They will get loaded automatically once my Google Account Syncs
Never used the Backup tool, to restore home screens but you can give it a try... For me its just 5 minutes to setup all home screens (I take home screen screenshots to quickly remind me of what they looked like)
Hope its helpful...
My backup root is really good, will save apks, data, contact's and everything else you can think of.... And its free!
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Titanium Backup for apps, games & data
SMS backup default for SMS
Up rom unlimited
but in the titanium brands copy it ALL? that would otherwise have to go manually selecting things.
And so it copies all, there will be things that "collide" with the new ROM ..
But I fear I have to copy all user apps and give, and copy the new ROM not work correctly.
If you invest in one single app for Android, it should be Titanium Backup Pro. If you only restore apps and apps data and NOT system data you will be just fine with every ROM upgrade. As was mentioned SMS Backup & Restore should be used for SMS backup, and it can also backup and restore call logs.
PS: The free Titanium Backup might be enough for you, but it can only restore apps and their data one by one, not automatically. But you might want to choose apps you restore anyway...
Hey,
How can you update revolution 6.1.1 to 7?
Does 7 have 3 dots menu remover? I have 6.1.1 and it doesnt

I dont recommend restoring backups because arhd 7.0.0 is a new base
New base - you reinstall all your apps? Very funny Just dont restore system data...
I find a metod to prevent loose all. Before install new rom, do a backup old rom.
Factory reset
Install new rom
NO REBOOT!!
factory reset again
Avanced restore-restore data
Reboot and enjoy!!

hi guys newbie here,
I know this should probably be posted in the rom thread but due to lack of posts I cant ask the question there, I have installed ARHD 10.2 and now updated to 10.3 and on both versions of the rom get the notice ( on facebook / friendcaster ) - unable to enable notifications as your phone does not support push messages, everything else seems to be fine, just wondered if anyone has come across this or if there is something I have done wrong.
Again sorry if this is posted in the wrong place

thanks for your response
I've seen this pop up a couple of times on the forum, but don't recall of there was a fix.
I would take a backup (if you have titanium, I'm assuming you're rooted, so both nandroid and titanium backup) and then factory reset, put your Google account back and try the apps again.
Once you've confirmed it works, use titanium to restore user apps and data, NOT system apps or data.
Hey,
maybe you should reflash 10.3.. and before that wipe data and wipe cache.. worked for me.
My push notifications work.
