Email app issues - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my wife's non-rooted stock G2, all of a sudden the Email app, the secondary one, is all of a sudden force closing. This started yesterday when she noticed she didn't have any emails and went to check it. I've, of course, tried a simple reboot and thencleared data and re-input the login info and no joy. Interestingly, it doesn't FC when doing the login, but when it's syncing. She has her regular gmail going through this app while her work email, which is gmail also, goes through the main Gmail app. Don't ask me why she does this, it's just how she likes it.
My question is, has anyone experienced this and have a possible fix, or is this more of a server issue or something else?

I removed the IP address and email address and name from logcat for security reasons. Hope it helps.

When you say turn off data what are you using? The built-in disable synchronization, the built-in disable all cellular, or a 3rd party app that disables data?

I don't see you trying vanilla FRX03. You've tried it with a bunch of custom systems tho...
Try it with FRX03 - that should be everybody's baseline.

I have try FRX03 yet,but I can't do any operation after boot into android, because the system is no response. I have try to install FRX03 several times , everytime I encoutered the same problem, I will try today again.
BTW : where can I download vanilla FRX03, i had google it ,but not found this build for RHOD400

I follow the step:
1. full format SD card FAT32, not quick format
2. the first boot, welcome screen show, no touch screen, just wait for about 8 minutes,top LED not light,sceen can not be wake up by any key
3. remove battery and boot again.
4. boot into android, screen stop at lock screen, screen always light, can not goto sleep, and I can'n do anything, I touch the screen,but system is no response for me.

I threw together a build on 11/20. Download here. The only thing that could be considered outdated on it would be the kernel (zImage/modules).
If you're on a RHOD400 and using it as a CDMA device, make sure force_cdma=1 in the startup.txt. Enjoy.

I think i found the problem,file /lib/froyo/libhtcgeneric-ril.so

I am sure kill pppd process will cause phone reboot, when I execute command "adb shell killall pppd", phone reboot.

Whole device hanging when keyboard is opened in certain apps

Seeing this problem with GTasks and SNESDroid. Hoping someone can shed some light on this. It seems like if I open the physical keyboard while either of these apps are loading a new activity,
One of two things happen:
1. The whole device straight up hangs. I still get tactile feedback and the keyboard light responds, but the display is hung and the only way to get the device back into a usable state is to hold power until the device resets. logcat doesn't show any kind of trouble until I try to leave the activity that hung the phone. "Copying to DropBox"... there's a debug parachute in this ROM that's sending cores to hell-knows-where. That concerns me greatly.
Anyone that knows more about Android internals want to chime in? Why is this hang happening? Anyone recognize this parachute? Is this CIQ or something Samsung baked up? Any realistic chance of a fix?
-E- This is on UCLG9 with Nardoholio's keyboard fix. I wonder if maybe the fix causes other problems... but that doesn't explain this suspicious parachute.

I was able to reproduce #2 in UCLH2 without mods, but #1 now behaves differently, and doesn't result in a hang. The new behavior suggests a bug in GTasks was aggravating a problem in the ROM that's since been fixed. I'm basing this guess on two lines that jumped out at me in logcat:

At which point it launches into the big debugspam.
My theory: The SNESDroid NDK code segfaults, due to a legitimate bug in the app itself. The parachute that launches is something added to testing builds by Samsung, which is supposed to catch as much useful debugging info as possible and haul it off to some developer's DropBox account. Because the SNESDroid crash happens in NDK code, the segfault is broadcasted at the hardware level, triggering the aforementioned parachute, which was never made to handle an app crash, and causes some weirdness at the system level as a result.
So tl;dr it's just buggy apps. UCLG9 has its own bug that's triggered by one of them but that bug has been fixed in UCLH2. I'm going to apply the keyboard backlight fix and try again just to be sure. Installed root and keyboard fix, behavior has not changed.

When the keyboard is pulled out, the system tries to force the orientation to landscape. Some apps, like Netflix don't let this happen. Some don't mind, and others crash. It's not a fault of Samsung if that's what's causing this.

When the keyboard is pulled out, the system tries to force the orientation to landscape. Some apps, like Netflix don't let this happen. Some don't mind, and others crash. It's not a fault of Samsung if that's what's causing this.

Apps crashing is one thing. If an app bug takes down the entire OS, I'll rightly blame Samsung.
I'm getting another whole-phone hang, again related to SNESDroid. I'm trying to find a way to reliably reproduce it, then I'll post the logcat from that, or at least, what I can pull before the device goes completely AWOL.

I have had it happening to me all the time before - usually crashes whenever I start up some demanding apps (I sent thegreatergood the entire logcat - it jumped at me as some type of kernel package errors, not thegreatergood's fault, it even occurs with stock kernel (LiteROM without LiteKernel) and the stock ICS) - it is certainly the stranger bugs I have seen. It starts mainly with the missing kernel package (halfway between kernel and the entire Android VM). I tried thegreatergood's newer Rev. 2 LiteKernel, the chance of it occurring is/was greatly reduced.

Yup, I agree. Looks like a few invalid service tags being applied forcibly here, immediately after the library (I think video driver hook). I know it can occur with any apps, though.
EDIT: I now remember. Few kernels like LH2 doesn't get along that well - I am using thegreatergood's LiteKernel R4.1, and it solved most of problems. What you are seeing could be kernel panic - whenever you see SNESDroid is attempting to eliminate its own VM which is otherwise invalid - at ths point the kernel freaks out.

The kernel is still running though -- logcat is still responding (though not logging much) and I can open a shell. It's like the whole runtime dies and doesn't come back.

Hmm. It's like a can of worms. You're correct about kernel, though - as I see that the kernel is still commenting after everything crashes and burns.
EDIT: Did you try force restart the runtime? Getting curiouser and curiouser.

You didn't have the device name, you didn't list what you changed from the default install, and you didn't specify if you performed a clean flash. These are the basics that should be included in any report. Saying 'it doesn't work' doesn't do any good.
And then there is this thing called a logcat. Logs are required for bug reports....

I don't see the crash in that logcat. You are supposed to run logcat while you reproduce the issue. Capture the actual error.

I wiped before installing this ROM.
Also, I wiped the dalvik and cache when I came across this problem. It didn't solve this.
And after that I spent few hours searching about this problem.
But when I could not find any solution , I posted here.
After all this , I installed catlog and reproduced the problem while recording the logcat in it, which has been posted in Original post.

I ask because you specifically mention dalvik and cache (newsflash: they don't do anything).
Wiping dalvik and cache does not constitute a clean flash. When performing a clean flash, data must be wiped. It's like one of the first noob lessons one should take the time to learn.

Screen regularly turns on

Hello,
a while ago, I started having an issue with my s4 mini (serranolte).
Basically, the screen turns itself on very often. For example, I press the power button to turn it off and after a second or so it turns itself on, stays on for ~10 seconds, turns off due to screen timeout, turns on by itself and so on.
I tried both with Lineage OS 14.1 and crDroid v4.4 (android 8.1) and the issue persists.

I've also tried flashing an older ROM, Pacman ROM (android 4.3) and I get the same issue.

Lenovo P2 without screen won't boot

So... my screen is broken and I have removed it (yes, my Lenovo does not have a screen right now), but now I'm not able to boot into a freshly flashed Android because the system is trying to connect to the HW (or it seems to be that...) and I don't have a working one.

Which means the mobile does not boot up, and in turn I'm not able to use scrcpy or other tool that allows me to control the screen via PC.
Is there anyway I can bypass this Display initialization or to output the display renderization to a virtual framebuffer easily?
Any other thoughts on this issue are welcome, as well as other possible solutions to
this case.
