turn off data connection cause phone reboot(maybe I found the reason)
When i turn off data connect, phone auto reboot, this happend not everytime, but many times, i have try some builds but all of these builds have this problem.
Builds i had tried: FRG83.R5 ,FRG83.R6,odexed-cm61test-22112010, cm6-28112010-v12,tiad8 FROYO
I guess souce code maybe do null point operation somewhere.

When you say turn off data what are you using? The built-in disable synchronization, the built-in disable all cellular, or a 3rd party app that disables data?

I don't see you trying vanilla FRX03. You've tried it with a bunch of custom systems tho...
Try it with FRX03 - that should be everybody's baseline.

I have try FRX03 yet,but I can't do any operation after boot into android, because the system is no response. I have try to install FRX03 several times , everytime I encoutered the same problem, I will try today again.
BTW : where can I download vanilla FRX03, i had google it ,but not found this build for RHOD400
OK, i try version http://htcandroid.xland.cz/XDANDROID.2.2.1.AOSP.FRX03.21.11.10.FULL_PACKAGE.zip with kernel http://zimages.googlecode.com/files/htc-msm-linux-20101204_010857-package.tar.bz2
I follow the step:
1. full format SD card FAT32, not quick format
2. the first boot, welcome screen show, no touch screen, just wait for about 8 minutes, top LED not light, sceen can not be wake up by any key
3. remove battery and boot again.
4. boot into android, screen stop at lock screen, screen always light, can not goto sleep, and I can'n do anything, I touch the screen, but system is no response for me.

I threw together a build on 11/20. Download here. The only thing that could be considered outdated on it would be the kernel (zImage/modules).
If you're on a RHOD400 and using it as a CDMA device, make sure force_cdma=1 in the startup.txt. Enjoy.

Thanks , I will try this tonight.

I think i found the problem,file /lib/froyo/libhtcgeneric-ril.so
function requestDeactivateDataCall(),there is one line system("killall pppd");
I am sure kill pppd process will cause phone reboot, when I execute command "adb shell killall pppd", phone reboot.
my carrier is CDMA(china telecom)

[Q] Phone intermittently reboots and has no WiFi

This is driving me nuts!
Realizing that my Desire GSM (PVT3, S-OFF, stock HBOOT) won't ever go beyond GB only with the help of HTC, I started looking at alternatives and flashed a ICS build. This was at an early stage so I wasn't expecting much and that's what I got: not much. System app hung, leaving me with no alternative but to take the battery out and wipe Dalvik to boot it.
As the ROMs have progressed, my expectations have risen but still I two major issues:
1) Spontaneous reboots
Often when picking up the phone, I need to enter my PIN because the phone has rebooted. Sometimes I can go a day without that happening, sometimes it happens 3 or 4 times in a row.
2) No WiFi
It won't even turn on, the aLogcat trace is as below.
Seems it can't find the H/W at all! Is this something that can be attributed to the RIL?
This is all really confusing to me, had no problems at all w/ stock HTC ROMs. I have so far tried different versions of Sandvold and MIUI ROMs. Anybody experience the same or has a clue to what's wrong?
Still no go - more evidence
As I thought WiFi was dead, I restored the phone to stock HTC 2.2. Lo and behold, now WiFi worked!
Armed with fresh new confidence I installed a number of 2.3 Sense and non-Sense ROMs (Runnymede, CM 7.1 etc.) just to see the same problem again.
Any idea? According to the dmesg below it's a hardware problem but since it work at least sometimes with stock ROMs it can't be that bad. Any other 2.3 user who could post their dmesg for a functioning WiFi card?

First of all, go back to stock 2.2 (clean install from RUU, not a nandroid) and keep runnin' it for a few days while monitoring WiFi. If the WiFi's stable with stock, then it must be a software fault, in which case i'd advise you to upgrade to the latest radio from the official GB ROM when using GB/ICS ROMs. If the WiFi's not stable even with stock 2.2 + stock 2.2 radio, then you have a hardware problem on your hands and my bet is that nobody but an HTC service can help you with that.
Here's my logcat for enabling the WiFi connection + connecting to my router (i have replaced the MAC strings with ADDR).

Looking through your logs and comparing them to mine, it seems to me that your logs say that your device doesn't seem to be able to properly mount the SD card.
Code:
[ 512.170928] mmc0: new high speed SDIO card at address 0001
[ 514.212982] mmc0: Data timeout
[ 514.213256] mmc0: Controller has been reset
I know (from reading XDA) that USB bricks are associated with SD card read errors, WiFi dropouts, network dropouts etc. While i am in no way versed in mobile devices, i believe that your issue is somehow software-related, not a hardware fault. If i were in your place, as i said earlier, i'd try reverting to stock 2.2 (full RUU - stock bootloader, stock radio, stock everything) and i'd monitor the device for a couple of days. If i would encounter the same problems as under the ICS ROM you're using, i'd switch to a different custom recovery (some recoveries/recovery versions are known to have bugs) and i'd try to use ye olde USB brick fixes. Only if all would fail i'd call it a hardware issue and dip the phone in liquid Frackitol.
Thanks for your suggestions, TVTV.
I have tried reverting to stock RUU 2.2 - naturally the WiFi works... Right now, I'm running RunnyMede 5.0.1 (Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.5) and everything just works - WiFi running well and no hard or soft reboots. With any ICS build, though, I get the "data timeout" and occasional CRC check failure for mmc0 as above.
Your post got me thinking of the USB brick case. Although I have none of the other symptons, it could be a case of messed up misc partition, I guess. Tried updating to Alpharev HBOOT and them misc reset as described here -> android.modaco.com/topic/309939-usb-brickrickrolledb0rked-fixed/
Running out of ideas so pass me that bottle of Frackitol, please...
It seems that you're not the only one who ran into this issue. Check this thread out.
The OP seems to have solved his problem by replacing his/her SD card which was faulty and was being mounted as read-only.

[Q] Help, my lg p930 constantly reboots cm9

Hey all need some help with a constant reboot / random shut off problem
I have a Bell lg p 930
Kernel 3.08 - blinky ghost Aug 28
currently running CM 9.1.0-p930
cm_p930-userdebug 4.0.4 IMM76L eng. .20120828.220359 test-keys
Android version 4.04
About two weeks ago ADW Launcher did an automatic update on my phone... I think that's when this problem started. At the time I was running cm9 Rc1, and until then it was working well. Draining battery a bit quick, and a few force closes that I'd rather avoid, but overall I was happy. Suddenly the device was rebooting constantly.
So I booted to recovery wiped cache and davlik cache (twice each), and repaired permissions. This would buy me 7-14 hours of up time, then the boots would start again, usually every few hours, persisting to every 5 minutes. This happened again and again after clearing the caches. So I changed launchers, that made no difference (but did improve my battery life!). At that point I wiped out RC1, and loaded the 9.1 stable. Again this bought me some time, but the problems returned.
At my whits end, I figured I'd wipe the device again and install ONLY the most basic aps, no additional launchers... which is where I'm at now. The aps installed are: call blocker, google aps (like gmail and play store), chrome, otherwise it's stock cm9. The problem continues to persist. I have copied my log below that I believe shows the usage between the past two boots.
Of Note? since this problem started my chromebook which I keep tethered to my phone almost all the time, won't reconnect to the wifi after sleep. I've tried changing the ssid, deleting my wifi networks on the chromebook etc, but this to persists. Not sure if it's related, but the chromebook has no issue reconnecting to my home wifi. The only way to get it to connect is to reboot the computer.
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!

CM9. CM9.1, CM10, even the official LG ICS - BSODs and random reboots occur on all of these.
Some users have tried using different basebands or changing the min/max CPU frequencies, and all this does is reduce how often reboots occur.
Fact is, LG gave us crap hardware and/or crap ICS binaries (probably both). The only OS that is known to have zero random reboots is stock GB for this phone.
Random reboots seem to occur during spikes in the CPU frequency - basically the CPU clock jumps whenever you touch the screen (hardware acceleration!) to improve performance and give things like lag-free scrolling. It appears this handset is not able to handle it though. The reboots occur most frequently for me when typing rapidly in whatsapp while listening to music.
LG simply can't do software if their lives depended on it. It's a good thing the Nexus 4 software is handled by Google. Would not recommend any LG models other than that from now on.
I've already made an appointment to sell this piece of sh!t. I guess Galaxy Nexus level specs for a low price are more than meets the eye.
For now, I'd recommend going to CM10 with a clean install, and experimenting with basebands. Raise your minimum CPU frequency to say 486 Mhz and downclock the maximum to just over 1000 Mhz. The smaller the range, the less likely the CPU is to barf during a spike.

I appreciate the swift reply. As an FYI I have tried going 486- to about 800 on the cpu clock. Forgot to mention that above. Reboots happen when the device is just sitting there doing nothing.
If stock GB is the most stable option why recommend going to CM10? any idea where I can get stock GB?
Also... isn't odd that these issues just presented themselves after months of stable use?

I have a P930 and I use LG official GB 2.3.6. for the P936 you can found it in this threat created by "potatohead" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827379 download the backup with the date "2012-08-12.05.03.45" is pre-rooted it works really really great, don't know why devs make CM9 and CM10 knowing that there is so much trouble with ICS and JB, I wish that someone port CM7

those are the basebands you want to go back to GB right? make a backup to your current ROM via CWM and download the backup that I told you and try it, if doesnt work you can go back to CM9 with no problem

Pretty sure that's what those are... so I just flash it like any other ROM? will that update my Kernel too?
Last night I figured I would give HONO's CM9 a try because I kept reading how stable it is. I've been up for 7+ hrs, but it's the first day after a clean install, so I will see how that goes. It is eating through my battery life, which I may be able to live with as I carry an external battery with me anyway... I'm guessing that's because it's over clocked, so I will consider reducing cpu speed too... just don't want that to start the problem again. Providing I stay stable, I'm going to give this until Monday afternoon to see if it stays that way (for whatever reason the symptoms seem worse when I'm at work, so I need to monitor through the weekend, and more important on a couple of weekdays). If all is good, then I'll be a happy HoNo guy and start slowly adding my apps back (remind me never to buy a phone without an LED again ok?), if not, I will take the advice and go back to stock GB. I will miss Chrome but stability wins out.
Thanks All!
ADW has nothing to do with the caused problem, it usually happens when you download something from the play store and when the cell radio changes (from HSPDA to UMTS, etc) or simply scrolling in the web browser or play store- I think it's when the CPU gets spiked in usage and ICS (and JB) seems to do something that GB doesn't.

That's interesting and may explain why it happens more at work then home... because the cell tower is different. It may also explain why it happens I'm not doing anything on the device at all... it's just sitting there with a clean ROM. It's odd that the problem did not present itself until now though. ADW was the trigger for some reason?

Thank you...so I tried that... and as luck would have it... when I went to restart after the flash, the phone hung on the LG screen, wouldn't go past that, and now just sits there, or goes past it to what might be a kernel screen? I guess I need to unbrick using this guide?

If I do a nandroid recover from cwm would that give me Bell or something else? I finally got ATT working again after an attempt to get Bell via HoNo didn't work out.

I did read through this thread. There was only one link I found containing a nandroid backup with the stock GB rooted rom. I was trying to see if i could avoid the unbricking process as I have already done that and have CM10 stable installed. That link is down due to reaching its bandwidth limit. Am I missing something?

1: be sure to had back-upped your EFS files
And i had this problem, and after days of ignorance of the community and self-research i decided to download the proprietary files from https://github.com/TheMuppets/ instead of extracting them myself and that did the trick.
thanks for your reply
how to back-upped EFS files ?
I tested many times, that this issue should be related with the kernel, rather than rom

EFS should be independent of it.
When I was in exchange for the official kernel and rom. All normal.

[Q] Andromadus-VISION-22: No Wifi and no ipconfig.txt file

I have an old HTC Vision I want to use while my daily driver gets repaired. It is in good condition. It sits in a safe most of its life, and I have taken it out twice to use as a temp phone for family visits.
I used this phone well before I was knowledgeable about Android and do not have proper backups from that time (we are talking 3+ years ago). I had flash an updated ROM (2.3 -> 4.x) foolishly before my family arrived without doing a backup; the first time I did not expect to take the phone out of mothballed state. Everything worked except wifi. It always says searching for network, and no active or inactive networks are ever listed; it just hangs there. They were not using it for anything but phone calls, so no biggie.
Now, I need it. Not sure what happened I have tried flashing different variants of CyanogenMOD or AOSP from 4.x. I had the same problem persist with full wipe and resets and everything. So, I knew I must have screwed something up. Lo and behold.

So, what did I try? Well, I found very little mention of this problem. First I found this thread, so I touched the ipconfig.txt file myself.
$ adb shell touch /data/misc/wifi/ipconfig.txt
Click to collapse
$ adb shell chown system:wifi /data/misc/wifi/ipconfig.txt
Click to collapse
$ adb reboot

Now I get loops of this in logcat.

I have tried my Google-fu and cannot determine what to do at this point. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue? Rather:
Do I need a properly formatted ipconfig.txt? Can anyone send me one?
What are the proper permissions for the /data/misc/wifi/wlan0 file that cannot be accessed?
Any other troubleshooting tips or workarounds to fix this nonsense?
Please help, this has been driving me nuts for two days and I am not that amateur!

So that did not go so well. I also tried Wifix 1.2 as recommended in this other thread and from a Mimcry dev, but it seems to do nothing either. First off, the permissions are bad.

It turns out maybe this regional regulatory domain stuff that Wifix has does work. So, two things in my case.
Was not using the most updated version of Wifix Manager. Download and install 1.32.
In the advanced settings, from many different recommendations on threads, set country code to EU to open all wifi network channels.
And now, the phone finally has wireless. I guess those error messages in the logcat led me to far astray. Everything works now.

Hi
Don't expect much, this is the first time I'm doing android porting
I'm trying to get Lollipop working on primou and I need some help by people with more experience.
Github: https://github.com/AndroidPrimou
Builds: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jghm6m8imi0hzzf/AAB7suJFmzTAtX-1QaeJ4KHQa?dl=0
THIS IS A DEVELEOPENT THREAD, THE BUILDS ARE ONLY FOR DEVS!
Current status:
Booting, ram fills up and system crashs.
Last updated: 22-03-2015
That is really good news!!! it would be nice to have Lollipop on HTC ONE V!!! i dont want even code so i cant help you with coding but i can help with noob testing! ))
its too much work bro, leave it
I'll just try it cause I wanna know more about android, there are much cm12 7x30 drivers out there
What about primoc
I need someone who knows about the internals of the graphics system, because I need to apply all the display changes in lollipop to the display driver.
Maybe this is a good place to start, but I don't have time to read this and I have no C/C++ skills at all.

if everyone said this the Motorola defy wouldn't have 5.0.
Will it be for primoc? Can you make it work on both
Sorry, this will be for primou only (if it will work someday)
Hello,
Compeltely new user here, I've never done anything with Android ROM dev but I know C++ and I want to help to make this possible !
If you mind sharing what you did
Great Going.....
Keep doing your work and upload as soon as you get a build that boots.
Will definitely test it and send you the logcats.(if you need them)
Try to make sure that you get a working camera app unlike the Jb and KitKat PrimoU Roms
And Yes Many people out there still use HOV (PrimoU) as their primary device

By the way, which display hal sources are you using? The display-legacy by evervolv?
yes. but i use
display-caf/msm7x30
audio-caf/msm7x30
media-caf/msm7x30
this is cm12 format
Yes I know.
But what github sources are you using?
That one: https://github.com/Evervolv/android_hardware_qcom_display-legacy/tree/lollipop
Or that one: https://github.com/LegacyXperia/android_hardware_qcom_display
Or another one?
