Ported honeycomb to evo - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did anyone notice that someone over at phandroid ported the honeycomb sdk to the evo. It boots and if course nothing works but its a start. http://t3hh4xx0r.com/?p=1351

Cool. Something else for the developers to tinker with.

there is already an 11 page post in the development section about this.

Yea, most people have [or finding out] in the development setion..

Honeycomb Port for HTC EVO 4G
Is T3HH4XX0R done with the Honeycomb sdk because I went to the link and it's expired and has to be renewed?
I'm learning as I go so sorry for the low grade question, not sure where to find it though or if it's even out yet.

Nobody is working on Honeycomb anymore. It was ridiculously difficult to build for the Evo 4G because there was no source from Google to build it from.
Everyone's up on Ice Cream Sandwich, the merge between Gingerbread and Honeycomb. I suggest you try Jared the Great's ICS.
Or are you in it for the launcher?

Honeycomb
No I'm in it to learn how to build a stand alone honeycomb myself. I tried JTG and its pretty sweet. Thanks for the help man.

HTC is working on it. Sense is closed-source, so there's nothing the community can do to port it.
The Nexus One is the only device that has an 'official' release of Froyo, and no device has Froyo and Sense... who is "everybody else"?

Wow, i just love some of the smug nasty sounding answers some people give out, if you fell a post is beyond you and you vast knowledge in anyway or you feel that it has been asked or you feel the OP does not know what they are talking about. All you have to do is click the back button and post no answer at all, geez.

Yeah I like the know it all response but he obviously isn't as smart as he thought or hasn't been paying attention. I only opened this thread because I couldn't believe no one else hadn't mention it already. I've been following this for days.
I hear bluetooth does not work and there are graphical glitches.
Is it worth porting now?
I would wait till those 2 are fixed first.
This won't be hard to port to the Dinc. At all. Should be only a matter of time.

Sorry, I hadn't seen the thread that michaelnhf linked. Without it, the original post looked like just another "I wantz teh Froyo 'n Sense, when will that b out?" post, which I'm sure we're all sick of seeing.
I'll Google around before posting next time, since I obviously don't know everything
I'm actually surprised people aren't porting more of the desire roms and themes over. I've been to their forums they've got some quality stuff over there. The desire and inc are basically the same phone.. I'm no dev but sheesh where are the roms?! Like real roms not " I removed sense apps and widgets roms." Koush seems to be busy with other things too I hope things pick up soon.
Yea looks like we might have picked the wrong phone for custom roms and such haha

I like sense. I don't know why people dont like it.
Here's your Incredible Froyo w/out sense. Radio and Wifi are still a no go but atleast you get a preview.

Edit: No troubleshooting will be provided since this is a WIP by Ozzeh.

NVM Just read tweet from clockworkmod:
Oh Hai. This CM6 Inc build is pretty stable. Bugs: bluetooth and light sensor are busted.
Good stuff.
Does the froyo build for the Eries work for us?

No other builds from phones will work for us regardless of version if it isn't customed tailored to the Dinc.

Mmmhmm...Humble pie.
Love the HTC Incredible but I'm leaning towards absolutely hating the Sense UI, excluding the clock/weather widget.
I cannot find a single mobile data widget that *works* other than the HTC one that ships with the phone. That is the only reason I'm using sense...although I don't 'dislike' it.
I can get FroYo and Sense to boot on my phone, but that is the easy part. None of the touch keys work and it reboot randomly. It also says that I have no signal, but I can browse the web.
I do like the new widgets.
What are the new widgets?
The two widgets that caught my eye was the new Mail widget. It looks more like our current calander widget. There is also a FM radio widget. Of course, there is also that News widget that some people love.

Honeycomb extracted system.img available for download

I have the Honeycomb extracted system.img from the sdk uploaded to mediafire, (mediafire is a lot faster IMO) if anybody wants to take a crack at it, have at it. Be aware, this is not a rom, this is simply the extracted system.img from the honeycomb sdk, just in case someone didnt fully read the title.

Sorry I didnt notice it earlier, but then again, the sdk was released about 10 hours ago, so, its not all too bad.
It's Android 3.0 Preview SDK, not the final one.

Dang, I didnt notice that. Oh well. At least devs can use this to find anything they might need to fix before it actually comes out, kinda like how darkstone found the modified init.rc file.

If you count Android version as one OS, it should be many more ;].
Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb.
And not Android OSes: Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, Ubuntu, MeeGo. Does Windows 95/98 are counted too? If yes, it makes 10 in total, and 8 usable . Of course if we count like we should Android as one OS, it would make 5 systems. Even then it's damn sky high as majority of smartphones run just one dedicated OS.
Isn't Honeycomb strictly a tablet OS? I tried to use the normal HD2 res on it and 240 display density and got only force closes when trying to boot it on my PC.
I have just got used to Gingerbread and now we could get Homenycomb??? Maaan, this would be awesome I only want the devs to take their time to improve Gingerbread as much as possible.
Why would you want a tablet based os on such a little screen like the hd2. Makes no sense to me. I do believe this is one ill stay away from..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Yea ok, i bet if its ported and runs nice u will flash! lol
Just caught eye of this new story. It appears Honeycomb won't be limited to tablets. There's mention of a phone version to be released later this year.
Honeycomb love. Outstanding! Because the preview version impressed me. A lot different from the usual Android. I would love having this on my HD2.
Honeycomb is very nice according to pocketnow

you could have just done it and not post about it. It makes as much sense as the fact the even though u said you wouldnt, you will...
Anyway, HoneyComb Ftw!!! Functionalities are a plus. I bet we will get native 720p out of this one, just like WP7

I am posting here so that any dev that could start working on this would better improve Gingerbread. I wouldn't install it yet, I will wait just like I did with Gingerbread. Nice file though.

Is there anywhere to follow CM7 progress?

Seriously am dying for CM7 like many of you. just curious if there is any info. Like a place to read about any progress like a devs blog? An I understand it takes alot of time and effort. I been using CM since i put android on my vouge. I check everyday to see if it the development section. This is the longest i have gone without it since my evo. I am going threw withdrawal D:

There isn't any progress to follow, development is halted until Gingerbread Kernel source code is released and once that happens you can follow their progress at their GitHub.
dammn allright thanks for the info
I hear you man. I had cyanogen on my g1 back in the day. I really don't understand what is going on in github, not my language i guess. lol. I am waiting patiently until it comes out though. I wonder if they have fixed anything since alpha 4, or are they still on alpha 4?
The last update I read about CM7 for the Epic was they were starting from scratch with a new kernel, and they almost had it booting properly, so who knows. Guess once the source drops we'll probably see some action then..
Damn bro you had a G1 too? Maan. Remember the good old days?! We had everything. CM4 through CM7, Blur, Sense, etc... we had a lot. Now we barley have ANYTHING. I woke up this morning, I was like "Damn. I should've gotten the N1 when I was still with T-Mobile." The N1 still has development and probably will even when Ice Cream Sandwich comes out and maybe past that, and we're probably gonna get stuck. Dude. I wonder if the G1 will see Ice Cream Sandwich...?
[QUOTE=Original Android
I would think so, since it got that hc sdk port.

They have gone further than alpha 4, using some stuff from teamhacksung.. but they have to redo a lot, an start with a new kernel.. but as stated, development has halted for the most part... awaiting some colonels sauce..

Ice Cream Sandwich Possibilities?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I haven't found a thread about it in the Epic forums. Is there a dev that is working on porting ICS to the Epic? I know the source is out there now and the Epic can be a bit of a pain to port to, but there seems to be no info on ICS on this phone. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

This will most likely be in the form of CM9, still a little bit away...We haven't even gotten full official CM7 yet. From my understanding the system partition needs to be made bigger (which is being worked on right now in CM7) in order for CIS to be able to sit on our phones. I am not a dev at all, but this sounds like it will be a pretty daunting task
Plus there is a lot of driver information they don't have that they need. WiMax (4G) will likely never be on there and you may have upgraded to a phone with ICS by the time there is a reasonable working model.

It is being worked on, but kind of at a standstill until stable MTD recovery is released.

ubuntu for epicmtd?

I realize the epic is the little brother of the nexus. With a key board. Do you think our phone will be one of the first to have a kang? Who is going to be working on this? I feel like we should be making a team or something. Better dev in numbers.

ubuntu for andriod = android based ubuntu native apps and android apps docking support for a full desktop experiance
ubuntu for phone = 100% ubuntu based os. running on andriod kernal and android drivers... no android os. at all full docking support for desktop experiance from on the go to at home instantly.
Maybe I should ree iterate my post. I'm strictly referring to Ubuntu for phone
rumours say... (and i know thats a bad way to start off..) but rumours say they will be releasing a clockwork mod flashable in the next couple of weeks.. i dont know if this will include binarys..(which i realize is a big thing to have for devs porting to other devices) but on the web site ubuntu released that there will be phones on the market by september.. which to me means they will have to be releasing the flashable soon so app makers themers etc can start their work...
i just might be a little to exited...
