[Q] Clean Froyo Desire HD ROM - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I'm new with the HTC Desire and I apologize if this has been asked before. I did search but I couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm searching for a Clean Stock DHD ROM that comes with the stock Kernel instead of a overclooked one. I noticed that most DHD ROMs ported to the Desire has a modded Kernel and I had a bad experience with modded Kernels with my Aria and the Froyo ROM that made it laggy. I don't know what Radios are so if someone could explain it to me in a easy way it would be great. I have a Telus version of the Desire. Can I still flash a ROM?
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

Wrong forum, reported to be moved to Q&A

So no Desire HD Rom with stock kernel at all?

I would be interested too... there is a post in the development section that has a list of all the good roms but not sure how clean they are

Rom recommendations and rooting

Hey guys,
I'm using stock froyo 2.2 for my htc desire and that's why I'm facing low memory issue. I would like to know which rom will provide me with apps2sd feature so that I wont face any issue of low memory and also which rom is the closest to stock froyo as I know of roms that are featured pack till the simple application are not working.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Read the ROM threads, best ROM is open to debate as what one person might love another may hate...it's completely subjective
Yeah I understand, but is there one that is close to the stock froyo 2.2? I do not need it to be fast, I only need it to be stable.
Search 'rooted 2.10.405.2' as there are some already on here...
You mean this rom is just rooted and Apps2sd for 2.2 stock desire?
I am using MoDaCo at the moment it's about as close to stock as you can get, but rooted and with an option for A2SD. They have a online kitchen as well so you can customize what you want installed in your ROM.
So how is it so far in terms of performance for you?

use LeeDroid and be happy. You'll get a lot of help in the LeeDroid thread at XDA, too. It's Sense with a lot of improvements.
LeeDroid? Saw from the thread there are quite a number of issues with the rom.

what issues? most of them are user related who don't know how to use a custom rom.
Like force closes of certain applications all these..

[Q] Installing custom ROMS

Hi,
I wanted to ask some quick questions about custom ROMS.
I have the Desire HD.
Firstly, is there a review of ROMS available for the DHD anywhere?
I know there's a list of ROMS in the wiki here, but how up to date is that list? and which is better?
Can any ROM work on any android phone? or are the ROMS specific to each handset?
and is there a ROM for android 2.3 that works on the DHD?
Ive seen some guides for installing custom ROMS, but Im nervous about following them because they're not DHD specific.

Please try reading the development forum here and particularly this thread and you should be set
You'll need to use specific ROMs for each handset. I was a bit nervous at first but all went well and I'm glad I did this process because my phone is just so much snappier now!
Ok here is a review.
Leedroid is awesome.
Android revolution is great.
Cyanogenmod 7 is buggy but shows much promise for the future.

[Q] Please give your opinions - Which ROM to use?

Hi everybody,
I'm a HTC Desire user and used to using custom ROMs, but I have a friend who has a HTC Wildfire and wants to get away from HTC Sense with a custom ROM.
I've never used the Wildfire but should have no problem rooting it and installing a ROM for her, but which would you say is the most stable, bugfree, quickest AOSP ROM, preferably with A2SD+ (though not essential) to install for day to day use?
Ideally I'd prefer her to have 2.3 and above, but if there's a really good 2.2 ROM I'd be happy with that.
If anyone is familiar with ROMs for the Desire, I use Redux 1.2 and would ideally like something that perfoms as well as that ROM for her.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
Regards,
Wildcardspv.
Hello,
Personally I prefer the CM7.
Very fast and very customizable.
CM7, no doubt.
Thanks guys,
Is that this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957140
If not, could you post a link to then thread, just so I'm looking at the correct one.
Are there any known things that don't work in this ROM?

Here at xda yes, but there is a latest, 7.0.3.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20132-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-htc-wildfire-v703-5-may-2011/
Usually 1/2 days after geting out on the official website is created a thread here, but for some reason 7.0.3 did not.
Great, thanks man

MIUI isnt that fast these days..
Try SGBS rom (v1.7) have sense and is very fast and stable.

Better wait for the official 2.3. I am using Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 Stable, but there is issue with call delay and mobile data connection problem. Now I am waiting for 2.3 official
I am running Insertcoin from around last 2 months and frankly speaking i never had any issues with the ROM. U can give it a try. U can get the rom from my signature.
Note: I never use HD recording or Playback on mobile, so i have never tested these functionality.
Yes, InsertCoin stable 1.0.8 seems to be bug free.
I used it also since about 2 months.
RCMix S v. 2.0.1 snm.
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113070&highlight=Recent+Apps easy to install.
For me AcesMod007 v24
Tried all roms but this one stands to be most stable and fast...
Leedroid is good too but battery hog.
Insertcoin is not bad but slow compared to acemod007.

From my personal experience I can highly recommend oxygen. It's a very clean and stable rom and I get a great battery life. Before using oxygen I tried leedroid, rcmix s, miui and redux. They are all nice and fast, but I really like the cleanness of oxygen and redux. I would have stayed with redux, but the developer did not have any time for further development for nearly two months, so I changed to oxygen. But I cannot see a big difference between redux and oxygen.
Ive tried loads, but an issue that kept recurring was depletion of internal memory. Therefore for the desire in my opinion the best roms are ones that allow data2ext or data2we which tricks your phone into thinking it has the internal memory limit you choose. I like gingerburst, a sense Rom since the whole thing is easy to set up and is stable. Just Google it and follow the instructions on the site
Cyanogen 7.0.3 works with the data2we. zip. If you don't like HTC sense, and is my close second Fave Rom

Rcmix 2.0, the cm7 variant
I'm running Leedroid 3.0.8.2 a2sd+ and loving it. No bugs found yet...

[Q] Desire Z [ROM] [Oct 18] Desire HD Sense v1.2 issues and themes

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307330&page=9
^I am using the rom above and I have only got around 60-80 ram(they said that they have 100 mb= =)
BTW, are there any themes or skins for this rom? I've tried installing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884888 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028813 (I mean the apk) and none of them showed up in the skins list, I've tried rebooting and still nothing SOSAD
can anyone tell me,pls?
P.S:I am from hong kong and my desire z is also bought in hong kong, I wonder if there are any differences
The rom you flashed is not for the Desire Z. It is a Desire HD rom (different phone all together) and I'm not entirely sure how you even got it to boot. Anyway try flashing a rom that is for the Desire Z/G2, you can find them here on XDA in the G2/Desire Z development forums or you can download Rom Manager from android market and download them through that app

My apologies, you're right. Well the problem is still similar being a port of a rom without a keyboard and for a different phone there is gonna be broken features, so I would suggest maybe a rom built from a DZ/G2 source. Again, sorry about that, I hadn't had my coffee before I read your post. Good luck
Sent from my Bulletproof G2
Well there aren't any broken features now,and it is in fact brilliant and I like its sound output very much. I have also solved the ram issue now
What I want the most is some themes pls
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA App
Well aside from using something like ADW Ex, Launcher Pro or Go Launcher and downloading a theme for whichever one you like, you could always go to UOT Kitchen (Google it) and bake up your own personal theme that's flashable in recovery. I'm sure there are other ways to theme your rom up too, like editing xml's, but those are pretty involved.
If you want to be able to easily customize everything about your rom, perhaps try one of the many miui.us builds floating around for the Desire Z. I've been on tun4fish's Bulletproof Miui build for a month now and I love it.
Sent from my Bulletproof G2
Well, I've tried bulletproof before and it's not bad,but I found that I am addicted to the sense roms.
Secondly, I already know how to use UOT centuries ago, so I want a rosie theme actually
