[Q] Installing custom ROMS - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I wanted to ask some quick questions about custom ROMS.
I have the Desire HD.
Firstly, is there a review of ROMS available for the DHD anywhere?
I know there's a list of ROMS in the wiki here, but how up to date is that list? and which is better?
Can any ROM work on any android phone? or are the ROMS specific to each handset?
and is there a ROM for android 2.3 that works on the DHD?
Ive seen some guides for installing custom ROMS, but Im nervous about following them because they're not DHD specific.

Please try reading the development forum here and particularly this thread and you should be set

You'll need to use specific ROMs for each handset. I was a bit nervous at first but all went well and I'm glad I did this process because my phone is just so much snappier now!

Ok here is a review.
Leedroid is awesome.
Android revolution is great.
Cyanogenmod 7 is buggy but shows much promise for the future.

Thanx for the info

Rom recommendations and rooting

Hey guys,
I'm using stock froyo 2.2 for my htc desire and that's why I'm facing low memory issue. I would like to know which rom will provide me with apps2sd feature so that I wont face any issue of low memory and also which rom is the closest to stock froyo as I know of roms that are featured pack till the simple application are not working.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Read the ROM threads, best ROM is open to debate as what one person might love another may hate...it's completely subjective
Yeah I understand, but is there one that is close to the stock froyo 2.2? I do not need it to be fast, I only need it to be stable.
Search 'rooted 2.10.405.2' as there are some already on here...
You mean this rom is just rooted and Apps2sd for 2.2 stock desire?
I am using MoDaCo at the moment it's about as close to stock as you can get, but rooted and with an option for A2SD. They have a online kitchen as well so you can customize what you want installed in your ROM.
So how is it so far in terms of performance for you?

use LeeDroid and be happy. You'll get a lot of help in the LeeDroid thread at XDA, too. It's Sense with a lot of improvements.
LeeDroid? Saw from the thread there are quite a number of issues with the rom.

what issues? most of them are user related who don't know how to use a custom rom.
Like force closes of certain applications all these..

[Q] Clean Froyo Desire HD ROM

Hello I'm new with the HTC Desire and I apologize if this has been asked before. I did search but I couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm searching for a Clean Stock DHD ROM that comes with the stock Kernel instead of a overclooked one. I noticed that most DHD ROMs ported to the Desire has a modded Kernel and I had a bad experience with modded Kernels with my Aria and the Froyo ROM that made it laggy. I don't know what Radios are so if someone could explain it to me in a easy way it would be great. I have a Telus version of the Desire. Can I still flash a ROM?
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance
Wrong forum, reported to be moved to Q&A
So no Desire HD Rom with stock kernel at all?
I would be interested too... there is a post in the development section that has a list of all the good roms but not sure how clean they are

[Q] Please give your opinions - Which ROM to use?

Hi everybody,
I'm a HTC Desire user and used to using custom ROMs, but I have a friend who has a HTC Wildfire and wants to get away from HTC Sense with a custom ROM.
I've never used the Wildfire but should have no problem rooting it and installing a ROM for her, but which would you say is the most stable, bugfree, quickest AOSP ROM, preferably with A2SD+ (though not essential) to install for day to day use?
Ideally I'd prefer her to have 2.3 and above, but if there's a really good 2.2 ROM I'd be happy with that.
If anyone is familiar with ROMs for the Desire, I use Redux 1.2 and would ideally like something that perfoms as well as that ROM for her.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

Hello,
Personally I prefer the CM7.
Very fast and very customizable.
CM7, no doubt.
Thanks guys,
Is that this one?

If not, could you post a link to then thread, just so I'm looking at the correct one.
Are there any known things that don't work in this ROM?

Here at xda yes, but there is a latest, 7.0.3.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20132-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-htc-wildfire-v703-5-may-2011/
Usually 1/2 days after geting out on the official website is created a thread here, but for some reason 7.0.3 did not.
Great, thanks man

What is the best Custom Rom?

Hi All,
I just got the galaxy nexus and I'd like to root it and get a custom rom. I'm totally new to android phones (although I have android tablets) and have no clue which custom rom will work best. I know of cyanogenmod. But there seems to be many others and I am wondering what at the moment is the best, most stable, newest build etc custom rom for the phone?
Any help and possibly some download things would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402341
This is smooth among the available ROMs.
Hope it helps.
My advice is simple... Try them all! then pick what is right for you. There are change logs and other info in the roms OP that address things that work and things that have issues. I tried a few and landed on the Gummy rom so far it has suited my needs.

Thanks a lot! Looks like a nice rom. I noticed the android version is 4.03. I have seen/read different articles on 4.04 and 4.05. I'm curious if there are any stable roms with the newest versions around. Might be too early though and I don't want to have a buggy rom.

[Q] Whats works best on a Desire 3.0 or 4.0

I have just sold my galaxy s2 and while I decide what to get next I dug out my old HTC desire. I want to give it and update it's running 2.2 at the moment.
It's the first time I've done this sort of thing so whats the best/easist rom to update it with and how do I do it.
Or if those two are a step to far, what stable rom would be a good replacement????
Hi,
Is it already rooted? s-off?
If not then you need to check out this thread for complete guide on how to root/s-off/flash custom ROM on the HTC Desire.
Once you do that you can click the link in my signature below to check the ROM Index for HTC Desire.
There are ROMs based on OS versions and also sense/non-sense/miui ROMs etc.
Most of the JB & ICS ROMs are still in development and probably not advisable for daily use.
Most of the GB ROMs are not being developed any more, but are probably far more stable.
For a GB ROM I would recommend MildWild based on Oxygen which was only recently updated.
