Help! visionary stuck trying to root. - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I really need your help. I am new to all of this and Ive tried to follow all the instructions properly.
I recently flashed my desire HD to the Android Revolution with its recommended radio. I noticed my battery life wasnt as great as before and so I wiped the battery stats through clockwork mod.
After that I rebooted, and the phone now keeps getting stuck in a loop
- HTC "quietly brilliant"
- Lock screen
- I unlock
- Visionary attempts to root.
- restarts
Is there anyway to fix this? I really need your help guys

Erm, android revolution already rooted.. So why do u need visionary to attempt root anymore?
One quick solution though, full wipe data..

I had to root it before doin the S-off and eng s-off?
How do i do a full wipe? I cant seem to do anything before it restarts again

You already have Eng s-off and radio s-off since u said u are able to flash custom rom and radio.. Maybe u just didn't know u had them before.. To wipe data, simply turn off you phone, hold down the volume - button and press the power button until it turns on and voila, u r in bootloader, select recovery..

all this wiping is a bit drastic lol, boot into recovery and use adb to uninstall visionary, you dont need it installed on a rooted phone, even paul @ modaco who created it, says once roooted you should uninstall.

[Help Needed]Desire HD not booting beyond Htc screen

I have S off, clockwork mod installed and can flash rom, but my desire hd doesn't boot beyond Htc boot screen.I also tried to go back original rom 1.32 and 1.72 but RUU gives error that I need to get a new Update utility.
Also tried from fastboot, I get "not allow" and I wonder why when S is off
Pls advice how can I revive my Desire HD
Thanks in advance
In your bootloader you can see if you have s-off. Anyway you better post this topic in q&a because the mods remove this without warning!
Probably you have radio s-off but not hboot s-off which would be why your fastboot gets denied.

Someone Swyped my idea.
im having the same problem i updated my phone and all was well ran for a week or 2 then last night i desided to try a modded rom so i backed up my stuff everything seemed to work well but now wont boot passed htc screen so i tryed to install my backup the same im pulling my hair out at the mo trying to work out whats gone wrong if i find any thing i will let u know but i thing ive killed my htc hd
same as you but after a reboot and restart restore and restore and patience everything is ok.
wait 2 minutes while the HTC screen start (HTC green)
Thanks ..but what to restore ?
If you're using any 3 series clockwork recovery that will prevent boot on a 2.2 based rom. Flash a 2 series clockwork and you should be ok. Tonnes of people are having this issue.

[Q] HELP!!! =[ After flashing a rom, DHD is now on HTC logo

Help!!!
I rooted my phone then installed clockworkmod recovery v3 (not sure if it is actually there)
I installed Radio S-off but upon getting to the bootloader I see ENG S-off
I used ROM Manager to flash the Android_Revolution_HD_2.0.13.
I ticked the wipe data and cache but didn't tick the backup existing rom (noo!)
Upon rebooting it is now stuck on the HTC logo screen =[
I got into the bootloader screen and tried the following:
*factory reset -> ended up going to the HTC logo again
*recovery -> goes to HTC logo again
pretty much choosing any option = HTC logo
I've tried formating my SD card but that didn't change anything
sniff sniff
Help please!!!!!!!
Are you running clockwork mod 3.0.0.6? if not, update to that and that should fix your flashing problems. Not more than 2 hours ago i was in your same situation
Are you using the dhd from telus or elsewhere?
Oh, I believe I installed 3.0.0.5
How do I update to 3.0.0.6, I cannot get into the recovery menu =[=[
I've been stuck with this problem for the last 4 hours XD, I'm reading all the forum threads to try and find a solution
Oh yes I'm on Vodafone
Are you able to start the process over again?
just search clockwork mod 3.0.0.6 and there is a thread here with a zip file you can download and upgrade to ver .6

Can you get into recovery? try flashing the ROM from recovery and see if that helps. I have seen many people who say that their DHD is stuck at boot screen. And almost all of them have used ROM manager to flash the ROM...so i do not know if there is something going on there with ROM manager (which it should not).
Before flashing you should have made sure that, you have Eng S-Off. Read this if necessary:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
try pasting PD98IMG.zip on your SD card again, boot the phone into bootloader, and let it install that zip file again.
if that doesn't work, turn your phone off and take out the battery, then put it back again, and try again the above.
it worked for me in a similar situation, I hope it will help you also.
Thanks everyone for your help!
I was able to get past the problem by downgrading to cwm 2.5.1.3
After 5 hrs at it I was afraid that I would end up with a brick phone!!
xxo!!!
I had the same problem yesterday...moving down to a clockworkmod 2.5.x fixed the issue for me as well. Glad you got it sorted out.

[Q] How can I restore my original 2.2 FroYo?

explain a bit more what is with your phone, what you did in what state is,rooted or not s-off or not and so on
If you tried rooting your phone through alpharevX but were unable to (that is your phone is not rooted) and now when you try to turn it on it goes into a sort of blocked state showing a phone with a triangle next to it or you want for whatever reason to get your phone back to 'brand new' state (factory settings)..... (beware this will only work if you haven't flashed your phone with some other ROM) all you need to do is turn it back off, then push the volume-down button and the power button (volume button first, then keeping the first still pushed the other)... now go to clear storage (use volume buttons up and down to navigate and the power button to confirm) so push the power button then the volume up button that's it....
Mind you if you have an PC49IMG.zip file on your sd card you are gonna have to delete it before doing this.
Thanks for the replies, but I've managed to instal Cyanogenmod so I don't longer need to go back to FroYo. =)

Lol, own.
Any idea if floating around there is a base ROM for the HTC Wildfire so as to restore to its out-of-box system ROM.
Ideally something I can use from ROM Manager.
I'm asking because twice I've used the stock RUU restore prog and it has un-rooted my HTC Wildfire

Check Safe Flash RUU's in Point 5 of 1st post of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
They are untouched stock ROM's, offered as a flashable ZIP.
Problem
I have nearly the exact same situation, except my phone(when turned on) gets stuck at the boot screen(telstra next g) i think i will use the stock 2.2 RUU to get back to the stock un-rooted ROM
I gained S-OFF with alpharevX beta and used gingerbreak to get root. I tried to get into clockwork mod, after using root toolbox to install it, to install cyanogen mod 7 but it would not load. HTC Wildfire, 2.2.1 Froyo,
Did you perform a full wipe before flashing the Cyanogenmod ROM file? Not doing so leads to bootloops, as you have described.
I did not even get to flash cyanogen mod. I cannot get into recovery. I chOose recovery but it goes to fast boot please help
I tried to use the stock RUU for 2.2 but it would not find my device, i tried twice. Once while it was stuck at the boot logo and the second time at the fastboot menu. Please help! I tried a clear data (htc wildfires take on hard reset) and it is still just stuck on the logo
i found a fix! i went into fasboot and ran the RUU on another computer with HTC Sync installed and it worked perfectly! i have now got clockworkmod installed and working excellent!

HTC Desire Boot Loop after Rom Backup - Solved but .....

I am a newbie in this rom flashing land.
I managed to root my Desire this morning using unrevoked 3 method. It was successful. I then installed Rom Manager (free) from Market and tried to make a backup. It ran smoothly until the phone rebooted. The reboot looped at HTC logo.
After searching around, I go to Recovery and restore the newly backup image and the phone went back online. I thought I had bricked my Desire already. .
I have the following questions, please enlighten me:
1) What might cause the shocking loop?
2) In the unrevoked 3 program, I notice that the "Disable Security" was checked when I managed to root the Desire. Does that mean I have S-OFFed the Desire as well in the process? If it is still S-ON, how can I tell and if I download a ROM and try to flash it (I still don't know how), will there be any undoable problems?
Thanks
1. Probably ROM Manager - use the flashed recovery - it works all the time.
2. Unrevoked3 does not S-OFF your phone, you need alpharev for that. To make it sure turn off your phone and reboot to bootlader (Holding VOL- and POWER keys). For the ROM part, check each ROM's thread for requirements to avoid problems.
Hi nqk.
I have only been looking into rooting for a couple of weeks and had the very same experience as yourself. (and the security off bit too). Bricked already!!
Before I had S-Off I tried both CM7 and oxygen, they both worked ok, but if your reason for rooting is the gain memory with the desire I would certainly say go down the alpharev road and use a new HBoot.
The stickies on the development section really do explain it well for us "noobs".
Currently I am running Oxygen 2.1.4, Alpharev oxygen r2 HBoot and S-Off running a 1GB ext4 partition.
Just so giddy with the amount of space available!!
I flashed new custom rom with s-on and stock hboot. Everything is fine so far.

few times when I have rooted using unrevoked3.21 and run a backup from Clockwork recovery 2.5.0.8 (?) it has stuck on the htc screen... not a great problem as I have usually flashed it straight after - but still annoying

[Q] Having some problems after flashing ANY custom ROM to my wildfire s

Hi there! First time poster, long-time android user here.
I have rooted and S-Off'd my HTC Wildfire S Successfully, but I am having some trouble with custom ROMs. I've tried almost every nightly/stable ROM I can find, and nothing is working. The ROM flashes via clockworkmod just fine, but after the first bootup, I am presented with the lock screen, but none of my touch capabilities work. Not even the softkeys at the bottom of the display. The volume rocker and power button work, however. To further my dilemma, I also have no service. Not even a single bar. I've tried factory resetting to clear up any junk in my phone that could be blocking normal function, as well as fixing the permissions, but still, nothing. So I made an account on XDA just to ask about it.
Any suggestions?
did you clean everything before flashing a rom ? (dalvik and so on)

I did that before flashing a custom ROM before I turned S-Off. But then again, my bootloader was unlocked via HTCDev. I'll try again now.
Touch screen is still unresponsive. I have 2 bars of signal, and the time is incorrect. So, I'm guessing this won't work.
where are you ? what network ? gsm or cdma?
untill thats done, why dont you just restore nandroid backup if you made one ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436314
also look into this problem ?
Why would you use htcdev bootloader unlock if you already have s-off?
Don't make sense.
Also you can't clear that data or cache before either you gain s-off or unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom recovery like clockwork mod.
I bought the device and unlocked the bootloader first. Then I rooted and installed CWM, tried to flash a custom rom, and it worked, but the touch screen was unresponsive, so I figured it was because I didn't have S-off. So I s-off'd my device, and tried again, still the same problem. I even tried using RZR, and STILL kept getting the same problem. It's an S-off'd and bootloader unlocked HTC Wildfire S, CDMA through MetroPCS, and I'm still lost. I've tried wiping EVERYTHING before a flash, and still nothing has been responsive after a flash. No signal, incorrect time, not ****. I'm trying to make a ****ty phone suck less, and nothing has worked. When I try to calibrate the touch screen though the method shown about, it just hangs when it's loading the DIAG files.
