Does anyone else have any issues clicking on links from the XDA portal with the Android browsers. Not a big deal but somewhat annoying

Funny that a phone website doesn't even have a mobile friendly version.
But just use the xda app.

Eh I just use the xda app, works great for me.

Yea; I like using.the XDA app... maybe a little more.than the actual site? There isn't any bs adds or anything aand I can just get content over the air, using virtually no.data at all.
Best forum app I have ever used.
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon

I have the same prob but now i use xda app

I have that issue with the stock browser so I use opera instead.

Broken links on defy

I go on sites like slickdeals a lot and for some reason, many of the links that people post don't work.
For example: http://m.slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2469686
The link in the first post of that doesn't work for me. I know its not the link/site because it works on my blackberry and my vibrant but not the defy.
Can someone else please try the link in that first post and let me know if it works for them? This is driving me nuts. Thanks.
Sent from my DEFY using XDA app
without the 'm', mine loads fine.
yeah works for me ok from the phone linking from the xda app
It's not the link i posted itself.
when you go to the link, the first post in the thread has a link.
Here's the link. It works on my blackberry, desktop, vibrant, etc but not my defy.

I don't know why mine would tell me that the web page is not available =/

I did a master reset and it still doesn't work. Argh. If I can't get it to work I'm switching phones.

Is miren browser one of those that compresses the page before sending to you?
That is why I specified opera mobile...Opera mini is one of those and sometimes the going through the proxy/compressing the page can mess things up a bit.
Otherwise you could go into settings and manage applications and clear the cache for the browser and see if that helps.
It only works with opera mini which is compressed.
Wont work with non compressed.such as opera mobile, miren, or the stock browser

Why is xda so slowww on my phone!

I can go to most any websites, watch hour long streams whatever. But try and load xda forum pages and usually sooooooooooooo slow. If they load at all. Worse than old aol 28k days. On the pc they load just fine.
Are u trying to view w browser or with the xda app?

XDA are also in the process of releasing a faster app, and the new 2013 style which will be faster once they have worked out the bugs for both.

That's what your problem is likely to be then. Download the XDA app from the Google Play Store and it should run smoother and quicker for you.

Which browser is king? (Opinions are welcomed)

Which browser is the best out of the big names (Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, Default etc.) I just don't know because lateley with these new updates they let me down in diff areas. I wanna be a one browser man lol.

I used XScope for the longest of time. I really liked how it functioned. But I currently use Dolphin. I like the reliability and how it handles swipe gestures.
You know what sucks? No third party browser supports links to apps. They don't open party store or Google plus. They open the websites. Except boat browser does play store but no other ones. Only browsers that support those links are stock and chrome. And stock mod browsers obviously
I know, the only gripe I have with dolphin is that when you dont pinch zoom into a page and click a tiny link next to another link example: Xda next page and last page chrome has like a popup that enlarge them for you.. I dunno if dolphin has this and you have to set it up or w/e but its a good app. Lol and everyone flames the default.

I like boat browser. Lots of similar features to dolphin and its the only browser that has never given me any issues with flash videos.

Yep noticed this too, i like that about the Chrome browser. Also it syncs my open taps on all my devices and lets me use online GAPPS with auto login...

If you haven't tried the chrome Beta. I would suggest giving that a go. Its a pretty nice improvement to the non beta and really pretty stable. Definitely with all the syncing and everything else I have no need for anything else

Flash supported browsers. What are you using?

Hey gang. Just wondering which flash supported browser is everyone using.
I watch a lot of football (soccer) online but lately Dolphin (modded) and Boat browser have been freezing and crashing while trying to play flash video.
Any suggestions would be great!

Anyone else get flash working on any browser without the browser freezing or crashing?

Have you tried Dolphin Browser Beta? It supports Flash without having to make any modifications.
I'm such a dork...... It was the website's fault. I'm using flash with Firefox but I'll try Dolphin Beta as well. Thanks home slice

Actually NONE of the browsers fully support flash video in-frame on websites.
In other words, we can all play any flash video as long as it's not embedded in
a webpage.
There are a very few websites which are setup in such a way that allows any of the new
models of android phones to play/view flash videos which are imbedded in the webpages.
My S2 and S3 had no problem doing it............. I am sure sooner or later there will be
a mod, fix or an upgrade so it works properly all the time on any webpage.

Site Admin, please read: Landing page "Root" video.

So the video on http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1891#root plays automatically in the background whenever you get to the Samsung Galaxy Note II landing page. Is it possible to stop this from loading until I press play? Or I figured it was code on the page telling it to load that video and play automatically.
Seeing as how alot of us are using tethering already anyway on our phones, it takes up quite a bit of bandwidth that we ALL KNOW Sprint doesn't have to spare.
I have adblock already.

This is on a full desktop browser guys. Not mobile.
I've never had this happen, not on any of the four separate computers I use (at a minimum) every day.

Chrome, almost exclusively, FF on a random occasion. Two of the computers have Chrome (and all ad-on/settings/b-marks) synced. The other, shared workstation...
Try Chrome in incognito mode, make sure it's not a sh1tty extention.

I have this happen all the time. I use Chrome. I haven't figured out how to stop it, but I know it's Youtube video, and somewhere in my settings, Chrome automatically starts any Youtube video. I noticed the YouTube thing on other sites. I just haven't been able to find the Youtube video on the landing page, but I do know the video playing is from YouTube because I have watched it on YouTube.
So it's A Chrome thing then... Simple enough.
