thats an HD2 not an TP2, HD2 is the only device from HTC which will be official compatible with WM 7.
because WM7 needs a capacitive tochscreen it will not work on TP2.

hi realy dont think so since wm7 needs a captive screen and needs all the hardware like hd2 manely or tp2 cant handle this
Time to upgrade my TP2 as soon as Win Mo 7 is out.

Haha, I hope they will release TP3 in time with WP7 I'm also curious about the dual core snapdragon processors which are announced with the end of this year
Regards
When I had the T-Mobile Wing they said we could not get WM6.5 and now thanks to XDA we have it. Now I have the TP2 and even though the screen doesn't support some of the command I would not be surprized if there was success in getting WM7 onto this phone (limited in functionality and may be very slow). At any rate I will be getting the HD2 on March 24 when it comes out to T-Mobile.

IMHO, the GUI is not that complex that you really need complex hardware. If MS really wanted, i believe it could run on a TP2 too (even with multitouch). 529Mhz is not that slow. And your TP2 has OPENGL 1.1? hardware which is not really used very well.
But like MS said, they put a lot of work to let the hardware and software work really together. Which in other words they say you need to buy new hardware (faster CPU, OPENGL 2.0; base ram 512MB)
Even now it could technically run on HD2, the HD2 device is not officially compliant with the 3 hardware buttons a Win7 mobile device needs (back, start , search). I wonder how to map the search button.
Let's only hope!
I am sure that if someone can get the current ROMs for the HD2, which are technically designed for a capacitive screen, to work on the TP2, I would bet money that someone will be able to port it over and make it work. We won't really know until stuff starts getting leaked. That would be great though. I would really like to give WP7 a test run before dumping $500 on a new phone!!
TP2 will be able to run WP7 (maybe there might be problems with OpenGL ES 2.0 missing). The right question is - will MS make BSP for it? I highly doubt it.

Yep me too. Although i'm gonna ditch my TP 2 as soon as I get confirmation of WM7 running on the hd2.
I saw somewhere that Windows Phone 7 will require a 1ghz processor. The HD2 has that and the Touch Pro 2 doesn't.
If someone does get Windows Phone 7 ported over, it's likely going to run a little slowly.
don't forget mandatory 4 point multitouch... that might be a problem for full functionality.
I seem to remember the guy who introduced WM7 (WPS7) saying something about the 7 series being slated for all manner of new phones including those with and without keyboards (I think he made reference to phones similar to BBs with keyboards on the face of the phones)...So unless the price of processors comes down significantly I really don't think every new phone running this 7 series OS will meet such demanding base requirements (1GHz processor, capacitive multitouch screens etc., etc.).
YES!

Touch Pro Series The Best Option HTC have!
according to several websites like: http://www.redmondpie.com/htc-hd2-to-get-windows-mobile-7-upgrade-9140128/ the HD2 will get windows mobile 7. but TP2 will most likely be up to the devs here at the XDA if they can do it. My feelings are that if they can get android going on TP2 (so far so good) then they can do windows mobile 7.
In my opinion, our devices are transition devices, most of us are waiting/hoping for a TP3 better than HD2, or at least with similar specifications as the HD2.
TP2 runs WP7, but it reminds me of my old Artemis with WM65 and TF2D, .
We´ll see it coming soon.
Cheers.
i have a blue angel runnign wm 6.5 so anything is possible especially if there is enough interest.
I understand why the move makes sense for MS but personally from what I've seen of WM7 I'm in no hurry for it to get here. Now if i could get my TP2 with a 1ghz cpu i might look at it but until the smart guys here at XDA figure out how to get past WM7's limitations i'm not in any rush to give up what I have.
It might be able to run it, but Microsoft and HTC aren't going to release anything needed to make an unofficial port happen. Sorry, but it's extremely likely that the TP2 is not going to get WM7, officially or otherwise.
And to everyone who always cites the example of Windows Mobile 6.5 running on an old device, I hate to break it to you but it's not that easy when dealing with WM7. Windows Mobile 7 is based off the Windows CE 6.0 kernel, while Windows Mobile 5 and 6.x are powered by the same CE 5.2 kernel, making a port of WM 6.x to a WM5 device pretty easy. It's much more difficult when you have a different kernel with from an OS that doesn't support most of your hardware, as it means someone has to create a BSP themselves.
No multi-tasking = No dice for me! It'd be like a downgrade! Loving my TP2 with Deep Shining Rom. I use my phone for a whole manner of things, usually business orientated. If I wanted the type of phone the Windows mobile 7 looks like it's gonna introduce, I would've bought an IPhone!
Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is software available to use on the phone to edit video that been shot on the phone ...? Something like imovie for the iphone but for the desire..
Thanks.
So from the lack of response I take it that’s a no then..!
Shame I thought the HTC Desire was a superior phone to the iPhone yet the iPhone has this app and the HTC doesn’t..?
Can the desire's hardware not handle an app like that or is it that just no one’s bothered to make or port one yet..?
Hello should I trade in my HTC HD2 for an HTC DESIRE HD?
hey......
donno abt the HD2 but love the desire HD
For me it's yes
Sent from my HTC DesireHD A9191 using XDA Premium App
Since the phone beats it in ram and camera and other stuff and i;ve seen how smooth everything is in desire hd much better than htc hd2. But of course htc hd2 can run windows phone 7 and now also mango the latest version.. So im not so sure for now.
Are there anymore pluses towards the htc desire hd that i have not mentioned?
If you want to change between systems and try all updates, stay at the HD2. It´s the only device, which is able to run WP7, WM 6.5 and Android, also other systems. If you want to have a modern android device, which can be rooted, buy the DHD. If you don´t wanna root this time, buy the Sensation, because it has the fastest HTC CPU.
I´ve sold my HD2 in the spring and bought at 1st the Samsung Omnia 7, then the HD7 and at last the DHD. With the DHD i´m satisfied, but sometimes a little tear is rolling for the HD2. The best is, to buy DHD and have the HD2 too. The HD2 was the device, which i owned for the longest time, since i use PPC´s and smartphones.
Money=problem

Yes, well the best costs a lot of money And I cannot afford the best, so I think I'm going to trade my htc hd2 in for a htc desire hd!
Thanks for all the answers!
I have both, and frankly, DHD much better in my opinion
I have my Omnia 7 since 2 months and I wonder why there are not a custom Firmware or a Android port or something else like this.
I thought the Device is very Similar to the HTC HD7 (except the integrated Memory) . And so why are there so less experience and interesting in the portation and jailbreaking of this WP7 devices.
On the HTC Devices the HSPL is hacked and you can have an jailbreaked firmware on it but on Optimus and the Omnia aren´t any interesting tools or OS to try.

hacked HSPL on HD7: wp7connect.com/2011/08/01/dft-flashes-mango-7720-on-hd7-then-releases-tool-for-custom-roms
to the Developers ,hackers and other people that can make it:
Please make an Custom Rom , an Android port or a jailbreak for Mango.
My Omnia 7 is like a prisoner.

someone is going to "android sucks" or "omg noooo android laaagsss!" Or otherwise try to shout down your question... but the video clearly shows it works well. I would imagine the developers see very little benefit in working hard to get android rom on any wp7 device for two reasons, related to each other:
1 there are not many wp7 devices or users to install it
2 there are TONS of android devices already to play on
If the device in the video is a clone of the hd7 or not doesn't really matter to me. Phones have such similar hardware now its hard to not call any of them a clone or knockoff.
I don´t think that the devices are not popular enough for a portation, even the unknown Vodafone 360 (Samsung H1 and M1) has there own Android ports samsungi8320.freeforums.org/h1droid-f2.html .
And i think thats not so hard to port the Android Version from the Galaxy S or the Desire to the Omnia 7 , Optimus 7 or other 7 series based Devices from similar Android devices. The only problem (i read it on a website) is the bootloader but the HSPL was hacked by the HTC devices.
So my question:
Why there no Android Roms for Windows Phones (even the iPhone has Android roms I don´t think that the devices are not popular enough for a portation, even the unknown Vodafone 360 (Samsung H1 and M1) has there own Android ports samsungi8320.freeforums.org/h1droid-f2.html .

So my question:
Why there no Android Roms for Windows Phones (even the iPhone has Android roms youtube.com/watch?v=zEQ5E_IaKTo&feature=related ) the Bootloader was hacked by DFT (this Team make the CF foor HTC 7 devices and the WP7 for the famous HD2).
And why there no custom Roms for non HTC devices like LG or Samsung, I thought there many other talented developers for it?
Edit:
I found the HD7 with Android on ebay: ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170569978287&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com.au%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D170569978287%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%
Er, just buy the android equivalent of the Omnia rather than wait for a port that will be buggy and take time to refine?
But the Galaxy S has only plastic.
The Omnia has better processing (I hope you understand me).
And I don´t want Android now for my Omnia, I want rather a custom rom.
But at the moment there no alternative
to the standard (restricted) Windows Phone7.
I know there is a option to keep the jailbreak under Mango with unlock.xml ,but after Hardreset, I must flash 7004 back and then I must flash ,7008 , 7329, 7400 and the Final Mango.
This takes over 2 hours.
I wish there is a custom rom like this from the HTC Devices.
The suggestions are apt
buy an android device if you want an android. Assuming we can run native, and we can run haret, it will still take time to port.
Just buy the device of your choice. There's plenty out with many different price points
