Title says it a really. I know this has been asked before (the last being Feb 2011 if my searches are correct) but we have had updates and new ROMs since then.
I have mainly used Oxygen and GingerVillian and don't seem to be able to get more that 24 hours out of my battery. My phone is only about 7-8 months old so I don't think it is the battery. I can't believe the official Desire battery life in standby is 340 hours! That's almost 2 weeks.... I'd be happy if I could get 2 days! I know it depends on certain parameters i.e. phone usage, signal, etc. but I would expect at least 2 days under medium useage if standby time is supposed to be 2 weeks!
Also does anyone see an improvement or decline in battery life from Froyo to Gingerbread?
Thanks all
Im using Redux and its really smooth and stable rom. Also the batterylife on the stock kernel is awesome. On this charge I've been playing for an hour or so Gamedev Story and been listening to some music as well making calls and sms. 24h on battery, 60% battery left. Night is the only time I shutdown the data connections and besides the night it syncs Google, Facebook and weather every hour. I would definately recommend this rom.
Oxygen, works great for me, and great battery life.
Oxygen FTW. Besides good battery life, fast as hell, too!
Sometimes even swaping kernels might get you a better battery life. I use CM7 RC2 with couttstech kernel which is gud for my case..!!
I haven't tried Oxygen yet but I'm currently using Ginger Villain
With Android 2.3 Gingerbread with almost the latest CM7
And the battery is just incredible. I think it can easily last 2 days with normal use(checking mail, whatsapp, checking some websites)
My phone is now a year old.
I've also flashed another kernel which supports 124mhz to 1119mhz (If I'm correct).
Also another friend of mine has the same rom and his battery also lasts very long and he has his phone even longer than me.
I find it odd you can't get 24 hours out of Ginger Villain. Maybe it is your kernel?
I can tell you it has a better battery life as the MIUI Roms have.
It might also be worth trying different radios as they can effect battery too.

can u use htc facebook sync on reduxe? it's no sense rom right?
can't u only use htc widget on sense?
i am lloking for a stable good rom (2.3 would be great) but i need facebook sync on calendar and contacts.
Oxygen ftw!
But I miss sense.
Switching back to stock. >_<
redux for me

I have been using Oxygen, great battery life (almost 2 days) and its very fast, but I've been getting reboots/bootloops every few days.
Anyone else experienced this, and would Redux be more stable?
Cheers
I'm using Redux too. Battery life is excellent.
Oxygen FTW!
I'm finding Ginger Villain equal to Oxygen for battery, although I think I only started using Eviollet's 1.3 kernel after I swapped which is a big help.
Much friendlier threads though for GV and no random reboots has made me stick with it.
Dabbled with data++ and ginger new sense roms recently and battery is sufficient, but not as good as AOSP

I currently used CM7 RC4 with coutts .38 HAVS CFS kernel. Battery life is great. I do charge it up everyday but I do play games quite a bit but if I leave it on standby, I can get a couple of days out of it.
I had stock sense last month and I uninstalled just about everything and fit the rom onto the sense hboot, from that, I managed to get about 80 hours of battery life out of it with light usage.
I'm using ginger villain, not noticed to big of a change from the stock 2.2 tbh.
Is redux stable enough? Heard mixed reports

I've been using Redux for a month now, battery is excellent, the ROM is amazing fast and i've never had bootloops/reboots during my use.
Oxygen, without a doubt. I don't know why or what it does different to others however. I only really noticed the difference a couple of days ago...76% remaining after 16hrs + of being unplugged and that was with GPS on network only, WiFi on etc and normal usage.
I use Insertcoin S port and it works great, I have 69% now after using it for 21 hours. I don't know which other rom has this but i am very happy with this rom.
I'd say oxygen...it really feels like on (nearly) any other rom battery life is halved compared to this masterpiece 0.o
Hello,
I was wondering if there is a lot of difference between a ROM running sense 2.1/3.0 (like RCMix or InsertCoin) and a gingerbread ROM running the old/normal sense (Like Leedroid 3.0.7)?
What's your experiences?
no, its quite the same for me.
in my opinoin sense 2.1/ 3.0 roms are just more eyecandy
Insertcoin Nightly v44 has a great battery life, if i plug my phone out it'll survive till the next morning, and i use it intensively

I turn wifi off when i leave my house, put 3g on when needed(around 9 hours a day). pocket mode disabled and the option above it aswell(don't know it in english, have the dutch one) but the one that turns the volume down when picking the phone up, no auto-sync and that's it, but if you still have battery drain, you should change your radio and RIL to the ones it baadnwz.com's addons it has drastic effects
Hope i helped you
Btw v45 drains little bit more
v46,47 drain a lot and are buggy as hell,i don't advise you to use those
I tried InsertCoin for a while, but found that it was a little slow and also drained a bit more battery.
Switched to Oxygen now, got great battery life.
Grtz
Trying InsertCoin now, looks great but more attacted towards Sense 3.0 ROM's
I'm on Cool Kingdom v7 (Sense 3.0) now. Flashed it 2 days ago along with my first ext4 partition
Used Oxygen for a long time but fel in love again with HTC Sync and skin.
Cool Kingdom is offcourse much laggier than Oxygen with is very very quick. Also the battery get's quite hot when using it (probably because overclocking). Must say the battery life is not as good as in Oxygen, wich i also wasn't expecting, but it is virtually thesame as in HTC Stock Froyo which I was running before rooting my phone 8 months back.
As one of the primary allures to rooting is better battery life, I'd really love some help from the experts out there.
Background: Way back when the original Sprint Lovers ROM was supported and updated, I used that in conjunction with one of Netarchy's 4.2 kernels and all was glorious. I easily got 2 days on a single charge. After that ROM stopped being supported, I went with Myn's Warm 2.2 and ever since then, I've had mediocre battery life (get about a day on single charge). After Warm, I went to Synergy and finally, I ended up on Swagged Out Stock. I've tried various kernels...ChopSuey, Freedom...all to no avail. I hardly doubt I would have that bad of luck trying so many combos of ROMs and kernels, so I'm pretty certain I'm missing something.
I'll try to cover as many bases as possible to help troubleshoot, so if I miss anything please lmk:
- light to light-moderate user
- no live wallpaper
- usually max signal, maybe 10% is between 3-4 bars
- "Mobile Data Always On" unchecked, auto sync only on gmail, weather and news are manual syncs
- not the awake lock problem (21h since last charge, display is at 34%)
- have reflashed ROMs multiple times
- tried ChopSuey's kernel, lithid's aggressive and less kernels
- correctly recalibrated batt stats multiple times and anytime I flash a ROM/kernel
- 245Mhz-998Mhz, interactiveX, cfq scheduler
- in SystemPanel, nothing is taking up a significant amount of CPU space
- battery had light swelling so Sprint gave me a new sealed one a few days ago
Currently, this is what my software looks like:
Baseband: 2.15.00.0808
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-Freedom-v0.9+
SOS RC2.2
4.53.651.1
PRI 2.15_003
PRL 60681
I think that covers everything. I'm willing to sacrifice my first-born to get get back 2 days on a charge Thanks!
Get rid of Sense = more battery life.
Maybe try UltimateJuice from the market too.
You mean going to AOSP?
I understand AOSP ROMs in general have better life than Sense, but as Sprint Lovers was Sense wouldn't that be a moot point?
I never got to 2 days with battery life but if you want to stay with sense try freedom aggressive with clock speed 245-768 interactivex but AOSP does give much better battery life
Screen timeout =15 seconds
Gps off
3g off when not used
Brightness as low as you can having while still being able to see

Truth is, since GB came out, battery life is just not the same as Froyo. I, too, went 2+ days on the Froyo Sense ROMs I ran, with Netarchy SBC Kernels, but there is no SBC for Sense now, for one thing, and there newer versions of Android plus the Sense 3.x ports just use a lot more resources.

Sense in general is more of a battery hog than aosp. I can go 2 days plus on CM7.
Mikg plus aggressive is by far my fav against myns on sense. I easily doubled the life of myns. Slightly less than 2 days.

Hm, perhaps I spoke too soon. Maybe the new battery is helping or something because this is the best batt life I've seen since I flashed Warm 2.2 (did this around August or September of last year). Keep in mind that the batt I swapped out was somewhat swollen.
20h 7m since last charge and still @ 72%. If I'm not mistaken SOS comes with Freedom Less so I'm gonna try Aggressive and see how that pans out. I did not know that GB was that much more a resource hog than FroYo, so that was interesting to learn.
Keeping my fingers crossed -- thanks for the replies.
hmm glad to know its better...I had a question, i dont know if this is considered hijacking a thread or anything i'm sorry if it is, i couldnt seem to open my own thread lol...but its the same topic..
I rooted my friends evo and flashed it with koni elite 3 rom and netarchy toastmod 4.3.4 cms......the battery life was terrible even worse then when it wasnt rooted... so i thought maybe i didnt flash the kernel, so i went into recovery wiped davlic cache and cache and flashed the kernel...then i fixed permissions...but still terrible battery life..do you think itll get A LOT better after calibrating the battery? or that there is something else wrong with it?

Everbody and their mother says to delete battery stats. Lifehacker just linked an article a few days back that said that battery stats.bin delete is actually counterproductive.sense I stopped deleting it my battery is getting better and better..
Example; I have been tapatalking for about an hour now and it has been at the same bat level the whole time. Apparently it takes any a week or two to settle in the OS after the last erase.they also said the most likely reason to delete are new phone(as a baseline) or new battery. Lots of opinions but this tip is helping me...

Hi Guys
Looking for best battery life and bug free rom...
As I am just pissed off by battery life by stock rom, i do not mind going on Aosp rom either on gingerbread 2.3, 2.2 or 4.0
hope some experienced people over here at XDA will help me to find out a good battery life and smooth rom for daily use.
Thanks
From my experience, the best rom (fast, bugfree, no lags) that i have came through is splash mod. Now for the battery, you can download easy battery saved. You can then configure it to stop some things when the phone is locked so that battery consumption is reduced. I personally use it and have my phone up for more than 20 hours
The best thing I've found for battery is to buy a spare battery and a wall charger that holds the spare battery, that way by the time my battery is flat my spare one is fully charged. As for the roms its personal preference in my eyes, splashmod may be fast out of the box but I could have a sense based rom running just as fast within half an hour so my advice is try them all and find one that suits you.

Best rom
IMO,I would say the joker rom, spalsh v1.8,and sunaabh. Ive had about 30-60 percent battery life on averga more than stock rom with the 3 I mentioned
I am curious what makes splash rom faster than cm7 since it is based on nightly 256. I think it might be just because of JIT enabled in CM7 (not sure if it is by default) while it is not enabled in splash rom. JIT might (is) causing some delay when executing applications. What do you think?

No there's nothing special about it, its because he's stripped out all the apps to make it a barebones Rom, thats all.
Not for me though I need apps like the clock and don't want to waste my time downloading such apps from the market, I'd rather have a full version and delete what I don't want myself.

For me best rom is RemPuzzleRom fast, stable and good battery life.
I have had the best battery using CM7. I remove unwanted apps using Barebones tutorial.
~20 hours battery life on CM7.
~17 hours on Rempuzzle
Splash mod 2.0 is the best, becouse there is no bugs and it is very friendly to battery

rempuzzlerom and splashmod .... worked really well for me (about 20 hours of battery backup)
I still use stock 2.2 and trust me battery last for 1 to 1.5 days with constant use of twitter, sms, gtalk, call and browsing.
SplashMOD is very smooth, having no issues with it yet, been in use for 2 months. No FCs, all apps working fine.
CM7 was with me for 4-5 months. Towards the end it got very laggy, like seriously jumpy (probably due to neglect), but battery life on splashmod is no where near as good as CM7.
Maybe i just use it more. I think sleep as android and copilot rinse it, which i didnt have on CM7
Am switching to Rempuzzle soon so see what all the crack is about
I know this is a pretty dumb and common question but i wouldn't have asked if i didn't need to ask it badly. I am leaving leaving my place for a month and i would need a longer battery life between charges because i will mostly be on picnic outside or doing something else where the connection won't be possible. Two things i would ask is that whether the LC ICS atm has good battery life because i had stopped flashing a while ago and i don't have time to go through every rom just to record battery life. Also how is the 480p on LC ICS compared to the 720p on GB roms because i will be recording A LOT from my phone. If LC's rom isn't that stable then can someone link me to a good GB rom with smooth interface and good battery life. By "good" i mean 8-12 hours with moderate use, is that a lot? and of course more is better.
EDIT: oh yeah, Mods! please don't lock this right away xD
Thanks a lot in advance !
This gotta be in the Q&A section.
Back to your question:
I would maybe recommend cyanogenmod 7.2 or ARHD roms.

I guess that CM7.2 is your call...has no sense at all, but works great and battery life is great. Take into consideration that battery life is not awesome in this device, but CM7.2 is not bad at all...also paranoid android is awesome, but is ICS and camera is not as smooth as in GB.
If not, you can try CoreDroid V9.4 or the Energy Rom...both have great battery life and no lags at all at least for me....

The best rom I ever had in terms of battery and smoothness was Bindroid. It's Android 2.3.5 and sense 3.5.
I don't have a link but you should easily find it by google.....
