I have been trying to make a kingdom hearts "TRON" bootanimation but I have been failing really bad, idk what I'm doing wrong. I only have one folder so I'm using this in my desc txt
320 480 15
p 0 0 part0
images are .png's I had 87 of them but then it never played file size was around 7mb but even smaller mb wouldn't play. I just get black screen but if someone can make one for me I'd greatly appreciate it. Also is there a way I can make boot animation orders? Like 10 for 5 bucks or something? Just asking because I'm at my wits end with this stuff.
if i remember correctly, you need 2 folders, one named part0 and another named part1
the part0 folder is the one that "plays" the animation once, the part1 will loop.
your desc.txt *SHOULD* look something like this:
320 480 15
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
but i am not totally sure

Here's one Tron bootanimation for D/S phones. See if it works for you.

Got my new Desire and i have a problem, i want to set a wallpaper that i have but problem is i can only drag the box to like half of the actual wallpaper size which is 480x800 so no fun getting half of the image only.. is there a setting for this?
You need to make your wallpapers 960*800
You need to make your wallpapers 960*800
eh what ? that cant be right, then all images will look really weird and stretched out..
the wallpapers are landscape and spread across all 7 screens. 960*480 sounds about right to me, being that the old 3 screen wallpapers were 640*480.....
you can not have a portrait wallpaper. Just not how android works.
960 by 800 works for me just fine. Not streched or weird.
I searched for this and only found information on other phones...
What is the exact wallpaper resolution size for the epic. I made a cross and scripture that I set to 480x800 originally which is pretty small. I made it to fit the bootscreen for the modification that Rodderik came up with. Now I wanted to try and make it my wallpaper but it forces me to crop it way too small. I would think the 480x800 would be small enough but it's not. I have no wiggle room so I need the exact resolution that it wants.
Thanks!
***sigh***
980 X 800 in case someone else looks this up.
960x800
10/char
Wallpaper
So I created a wallpaper at 980X800 which works, however when you flip the phone and get landscape it loses quite a bit of the picture. Is there a trick to this? It doesn't seem to be a problem with most wallpapers.
unless its in a "and I'm likely quoting this wrong" a .9.png fromat it WONT scale right on landscape.. and I'm thinking that a background wont anyway unless there is a mod to the framework.apk
Hmmm... I think you're right. I'll post back with my findings and try to thank you since I can't in the app.
png
So gimp (which people use who theme) does save in png format, but I cannot find the .9 business. I'll test png and see if it helps at all, but I'm sure the .9 format is necessary. You probably have to incorporate two different resolutions into the same file and reference it somehow.
idk what it is that im doing wrong. prob the way that im saving the png files in photoshop. theyre indexed pngs but still it just shows up as a white screen. the current animation is attached to this post
help? anyone?
I edited some files, see if that works.
nope still messed up lol
I tried....If you take it over to themes and apps, you'd get a better fix for it.
k thanks =D
No prob. =]
Just in case anyone wanted to get rid of all signs of AT&T, you can change the shut down animation to any series of PNG's you want pretty easily. The shut down PNG's are in RES_cappuccino.apk here:
/system/framework/RES_cappuccino.apk
If you want to change the shut down animation, you can change the 25 PNG's (you can use my PNG-swapping tutorial thread if you don't know how =) ) found here:
RES_cappuccino.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/power_off_001.png to power_off_025.png
Just swap out the 25 PNG's with whatever you want.
Oh, and the boot animation is
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
but I figure everyone sorta knew that already =)
They really don't care about free space, don't they?
Thanks for the info.
Haha, I know, right?
dang, wow.. hmm, you know what's [email protected] and i were chatting in another thread about experiencing any delays or lags anywhere with this phone and the title of this/your thread reminded me that there is indeed a stutter on the shutdown animation with my phone. the boot up animation is super smooth though and i was thinking i would not mind keeping the boot up but just deleting the shutdown one, but i had figured they were the same sequence.
it's super they are not!
is it possible to shrink all this shut down nonsense to as little as possible?
gave ya a thanks!
The best option, in my opinion, is to just swap the png's with solid black ones. I wouldn't suggest just deleting them, cause the xml's will still reference the missing png's and it might cause trouble (might not, too, but without recovery, I'd err on the side of safer =) )
So for the bootup animation, can we just use any animations out there, like the ones i use for the atrix, or it still needs to be specific? Just trying to be safe lol.
For the heck of it I've tried animation from UOT kitchen, it worked just fine, but because images are for smaller resolution they displayed with large black border around them, other words not in full screen.
For the boot animation, you can use whatever you want, yeah. I copied my old one from my x10 (edited some of the PNG's just for fun =) ), and it works just fine. If the resolution of the boot animation is lower than the nitro's screen, it'll just show the animation centered with a black background.
If you want to use the Atrix ones, I'm sure you can just stretch each of the png's in the zip to 1280x720, and they'll play just fine without a black border

Using this series of images as a boot animation?

@Brian D ..... Did you mean something like this? The animation (Dancer.zip) is sized to fit the Moto G (720 x 1280) but I had to adjust the sizes for the Gif to fit with XDA ..... The animation also runs a little faster than the Gif ..... Just tap the Gif to see it work..... Usual instructions for the boot animation ..... It's NOT flashable (though I could make it so) just move it to /system/media and rename it to bootanimation.zip

Perfect. So you used all 34 frames. Guess that would be the only way to do it. I will give it a try. I think it makes for a more interesting boot animation. Thanks
