I have words that are already in my dictionary that are misspelled, like tyo, di, sti, and many others. Is there any way I can remove all of these rather than remove them individually?

I wish I knew how!! Mine is the same way and it is very annoying. I will be watching this thread for more info
To delete a word, highlight it [long press, select text, highlight the word] then push the swype icon in the lower left corner [the little i thing] then it should ask to confirm deletetion, select yes.
Yea used to have the same issue before I did this,
Once you have the word entered into the text box you want to have deleted from the dictionary, Highlight the entire word and then press the Swype key (bottom left key), it will then ask you if you want it to be deleted from dictionary.

Our responses were eerily similar.
I hate having to select these words click a button and remove the entry...I wish we could get a way to delete from a db or a list.

Well to you and the OP, you can't do so. [as far as I know, but I don't think there is a way]

I believe this would also erase your Swype settings, (just write them down before continuing, there are only a couple). Try going into "Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All " Now find Swype in the list and press the "Clear Data" button.
I haven't tried this myself, but I see no reason it shouldn't work to delete ALL of the custom words (and settings, so be sure to make a note of them.)
Hopefully someone tries this and lets the rest of us know if it works or not. I'd try it myself but I'm not yet at the point where my dictionary is a total mess.

Well going off that note, if you clear the cache data, I believe it would delete everything. I'll give it a try.

Well, there is indeed an option to clear the cache for the app but I was referring to the "Clear Data" option.
I don't think the "Clear cache" button would delete the user directory but it might.
Just wanted to make sure others were aware that these are two different buttons we're talking about here.
Cheers....
Rob
Just an update, neither deleted the words from the dictionary.
So i just cleared my swype and now i have to go back and put all the words in one at a time now. Dont do it. Its easier to just use the stupid sype words and retype them
At worst you can uninstall it and reinstall it. I think the data should be gone. If only there was a way to change the default words... I hated the way Swype worked so I just use FlexT9, but that one has NO way to delete single words and whatnot as far as I can tell, I just prefer it.
I have no idea why the GB keyboard doesn't have swyping. Whatever did happen to blindtype lol?
What I do from time to time is clear the data on swype.
End of line.

Small question, but is there a way to revert the old 'New' message button we used to have in WM5 back to WM6?
WM6 introduced a 'Delete' button in the Text Messages screen, since MS is convinced people use the delete more often then the new message function.
I hardly delete messages, so really would love to see my 'New' message button returned somehow.

PM me your email address and I will send it to you.
What I do to "solve" this problem
I simply changed one of the two softkeys on the today screen to "New SMS". Now I can start writting sms without even having to open up the messaging application.
You can do this under Start | Settings | System | Soft Key
Hope this helps some of you
Where can i find the file for placing the "new sms" on my left softkey for htc soft keys?
Tnx in advance

Go to start>settings>system then soft key, then you see the screen for left or right soft key, scroll up and down on the left key list and choose new sms, this should do it.

I like the program, the only problem is it can only do SMS and MMS. There is no E-mail way of doing this. I tried changing the e-mail setting to my
Mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
and it went through, but never got delivered to my friend. Is there any way to get this to work since i don't really feel like using 2 different program to send out messages?
If not then i guess I'll just set my messaging to only goto Outlook and then use the Today screen plugin for the Palm SMS to use for my text messages.

I tried the cab (tnx a lot) and it works, it did link the left soft key with "new sms" but if i tap it, i get this message: "the file tnsms.exe cannot be opened.Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componenet cannot be found.if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring hte file"
Why?
Whats wrong?
If i look manually for the tnsms.exe file in the position the cab said it is i cant find it...

Have you used HtweakC which is in the list of programmes? If not open it and click on tweaks>security and tick the box that allows non-certified applications, then try to again.
It was already checked and it doesnt work, but i solved everything using newmenu for wm5..btw, tnx a lot for the help, this forum is great!!!
Hi,
I'm sorry if this has been answered before, I tried searching but I wasn't really sure what keywords to search for exactly....
Also I don't know if this is an ICS specific thing or not, since the Galaxy Nexus is my first Android device, which is why I'm asking here
Anyway, with that out of the way... When you click on a link in an app, say Gmail, it prompts you which app to use to open it. For example for youtube links I get the option of Browser, Youtube app, etc.
Is it possible to modify what is listed here? For example I have ICS Browser+ installed, so i really don't want to see the stock browser in this list...
Hopefully this is something easy enough to do
(BTW my device is rooted, if that is needed, and running 4.0.1)
Thanks in advance
Sorry no, you can't shorten that list. You can choose one app to always open that specific "action", then there won't be a list at all. But if you don't want that I don't know any other option other than uninstalling/disable the unwanted apps in setting > apps.
As long as you have options, you cant shorten the list. Set up your defaults and change them if you need to.
An easy app to help with setting up defaults: "DEFAULT APP MANAGER LITE" its free!

That's a shame, I dont want to set a default because I will use different apps depending on what I want to do.
Oh well, no big deal I can live with that.
Thanks for the info.
Hello. I just discovered a strange thing and I don't know how to get rid of it. So i was adding some music and I deployed "Sound enhancer" and after that my phone grouped all my apps in menu like it is done in people tab. So i have a huge letter above all my apps which makes my menu longer and it takes more time to find an app. It also doesn't look eyecandy. So i want you to ask how to get rid of those letters and bring my menu back to normal state.
Regards
okey~
It's not a bug, it's a feature. After a cetain amount of apps this is added to your menu. When you touch on one of the letters in the menu it will bring up a screen of letters. Touch on one of these and it will take you to those apps starting with the corresponding letter. This was added to reduce scrolling when you have a large amount of apps. If you do not like it I believe that uninstalling enough apps to bring you below the limit will disable the feature.
I know how it works. But is there no way to bring it back without uninstalling apps?
Not sure it goes away even if you uninstall apps.

Nope.
Surely it makes scrolling faster, not longer? For example, rather than scrolling all the way down to, say, 'Skype'...two taps and you are there in the 'S' section..
Either way, it cannot be disabled (except perhaps if you are fully unlocked, and edit the registry?)

You are right, and think only a fool might want to disable it! I purposefully installed 4 apps more that I won't ever use just to get those indexed letters on!
Use voice instead, it is the fastest. Hold windows key and say start "app name"

It gets better - say find "whatever address"
It will give you directions also (right above the web search)
or find "Store name" it will show that store closes to you.
and try find "movie name"
It will show theaters near you playing the movie
and find "weather in san fransisco" for example will show 5 day forcast via bing in websearch
Then find an iphone user that has siri and show him opening apps. Siri doesn't do that yet i use find flashlight all the time to use htc flashlight. it auto comes on when the app opens and it great for opening car or house door in the dark
enjoy!

It's not the settings as much as the history it "learns" from you about how you type, favorite words and phrases, etc. The stuff it uses for predicting what you are going to say next.
There are times when I can type an entire text or email without actually spelling a single word -- just choosing from its suggestions.

Thanks I did not know that it is interesting and understandable as to why you would want to transfer it to a new phone. I'm surprised they don't include a backup process that could be moved to another phone with the app.
Hi,
I have a problem with premium SMS (shortcode numbers).
Somehow, I block this option (one I try to sent SMS on short number, I chose "NO and remember" or something like that) and aafter that I can not sent any message on any short number.
I think - this option is called Premium SMS.
I saw in some other phone models, it can be set or reset in Messages app settings, byt I have not this option in my phone.
Phone is LG G3 - D855, Android 6.0
I try tio sent mail to LG support, byt local technical support (Croatia and Serbia) - they dont know!!! ???
Thank you

Settings/Apps/Messaging/Storage/Clear data
Settings/Apps/Messaging/Permissions

I also tried:

And change everything in:

Messaging/Settings/Text messages
Messaging/Settings/General settings
but still no work!
I dont find "Premium messages" anywhere.
Maybe it's a setting in your carrier settings? Do you have an app placed on your phone by your SIM card?

I said to look for the Setting in all the apps I listed, not to start clearing the cache.
The setting on Android 7.1.1 can be found in the Special Access settings for apps from the Settings menu.
So it's setup as a permission, as opposed to app setting, as was in previous versions of Android.
Just type SMS in the search of the app.

Yes in Android 6.0 the setting is in a different place but it is still somewhere around.
Just type SMS in the search field of the Settings app.
There is no point in reinstalling the app, you already cleared your cache which means there is a setting saved somewhere that is overriding the behaviour, reinstalling the app won't help in that case as said setting will still be there.

Sorry for the late answer. Seems like my memories of Android 6.0 are hazy and the menu is somewhere else as I mentioned.
Seems like quite a few people can't find it since the Setting is burried deeper than usual: https://www.google.bg/search?q=andr...ndroid-google&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
This links in particular seems to hold a good answer:
