[Q] Accidentally entered Qualcomm Diag, now apps are all Force Closing - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to boot into recovery so I could restore some stock apps I had removed previously. I've done this plenty of times with no problems.
In a moment of extreme stupidity, I pressed volume UP and power. My phone vibrated three times and then would not reboot until I removed the battery. Immediately after doing so, I realized my error and booted straight into recovery the proper way (did not do a normal boot between my error and recovery), removed the apps without issue, etc.
After rebooting, it appears some of my data is missing. I had no contacts, text messages, phone storage. I DID have all my apps (which continuosly FC) and rosie settings intact.
After doing some research, it appears I entered Qualcomm Diag mode by pressing the incorrect keys. What does that mean, is it related to my other problems? Is there any way to recover my missing data? I can live without texts. I just don't want to reconfigure all my apps. I don't have a recent backup.
Thanks

I have no idea what would fix that, maybe fix permissions? I hear that helps with constant fc's, but idk if it would help here or not.

#1 Try fixing permissions in CWM or RM. Should help you with the FC. If not that wipe everything and reflash the rom.
#2 Did you make a nandroid before you removed stock apps? Just go back to that one. If not, well now you know to do so before you do anything major.

If you did a nandroid you should be able to boot into recovery and load your backup....if not idk man...always backup...

[Solved] Broke permissions settings, nandroid can't fix, need help

Re-written to be more concise and readable:
Long story short: I installed the program "Permissions Denied" from the market and restricted a few games. When I rebooted something was broken and I can't quite figure out what, but it runs deep through the phone.
The phone isn't bootlooping, but when I starts up it will very often become unresponsive immediately after getting to the lockscreen, my theory is that things are trying to load and crashing in the background. The only fix for this is to wait until it appear to reboot itself; the screen will come back on and show me a quick few cycles of the boot animation, then back to the lockscreen. After this, it asks to re-activate on the network. Whether or not everything works after this point has been highly variable. Currently, my phone is on but has no way of signing into a google account (isn't even an option in the list under settings).
If I try to restore a nandroid, at the very end it spits out "Error while restoring /data!". I've done this with a couple nandroids that I've used fine in the past. Fully wiping from CWM and installing a fresh rom yields similar results.
Basically my thinking at this point is to back up anything I want while I have access to the phone and try to do as full a factory reset as possible. Any ideas? Of note is that I've run the "fix permissions" function both in CWM and ROM Manager, and when I run it in ROM Manager the log shows permissions for a bunch of programs that have been wiped. So I'm guessing that permissions settings persist across wipes, but I don't know what to address that with specifically.
Bump? (rewrote OP to make it less of a train wreck of my late-night detective work)
Edit with maybe-progress: I found and installed an older apk for Permissions Denied and even though this is an older nandroid and everything has been wiped time and again, the permissions for the games I changed are still disabled.
Having trouble getting the program to actually undo anything though, and rebooting the phone is a rather tiresome task with all this going on just to find out nothing changed.
Does anyone know
1)Where permissions live, and if I can reflash whatever that is, as it is clearly corrupt here.
2)Where I can get a copy of the v2.9 apk for this app, as maybe it will be better at restoring what it did than the older version I dug up.
Edit2:I eventually just did a factory reset and it fixed everything. I had also emailed the developer of the app and he got back to me with the following advice:
It sounds like the permissions file is locked, packages.xml. Try opening my app, going into the settings, and make sure that the first option is NOT checked.
Then hit the unlock option to unlock the file.
If that doesn't work, try the following in a terminal...
su
chattr -ia /data/system/packages.xml\

Intuitively this sounds like it may have fixed the problem, so I'm posting it here in case anyone ends up with similar problems and finds this thread searching.

HELP:

**sorry for the thread title, it won't let me edit it. Was supposed to be "Help: android.process.acore error after Marshmallow update"**
Hi, I updated my HTC One M8 (stock ROM) to Android 6 via an OTA update sent to the phone.
The update went fine - no error messages. But after the final reboot, I am getting constant (and I mean constant, not every few seconds) errors that all processes are stopping. Particularly, after everything else has stopped, I get repeated messages about android.process.acore, android.process.media, and Sense Home unexpectedly stopping (I guess these are the ones that keep starting up and failing). By pressing "OK" or "close" on these messages, sometimes I can press something very quickly before another message pops up. In this ridiculous manner, I was able to do/find out the following:
- Pressing the home button shows me the white screen with "htc" written on it, like on phone startup, or sometimes a black screen
- Pressing the recent-apps button actually does show me the recent apps and I can click on them, though most of them just close right after I open them. Some of them work -- like I can receive phone calls (I just don't hear the phone ring, and I have to press the "talk" button in between pressing OK on error messages).
- I can get into the settings screen. In this way, I tried:
- Disabling one by one every app I could, including Google Services Framework and Google Play services which were giving repeated "stopped" error messages - but I still get the android.process.acore & Sense Home errors and no UI
- Clearing cache & data for all contact & calendar app I could find, and also for Google Services Framework and Google Play services and some others
- Going into Developer Options and viewing active services - I stopped all active and cached services and process I could, to no avail
I also tried booting into recovery mode and wiping the cache partition.
Nothing works!! Please can anyone help me save my phone without doing a factory reset? Unfortunately, since I started the Android update by accident (pressed "now" instead of "later"), I didn't backup anything beforehand... and while my contacts and calendars are always backed up, my apps & preferences & media files are not. I also tried connecting to a computer via USB, but while the computer recognizes the phone, I cannot actually access the files (I see it as a drive, but when I open it there are no files or folders, and the HTC sync SW does not recognize it) - so no possibility to back up the files in that way...
Thank you!!
Yael

HTC One M9 - Not booting properly after Factory Reset - Please Help!

Hi forum,
I have just reset my HTC One M9 back to factory settings and now when it starts it immediately gives me Google Play errors and will not boot. The errors repeatedly show on the screen and it will not boot normally rendering the phone useless. The messages I am getting are:
1: Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped
2. Unfortunatley, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped
I click OK and they just keep coming over and over.
I can't get onto the phone to change settings and would just like it to work again. I am not bothered about custom ROMS, just want it working however I can.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?
Thanks for your help.

You can try starting your phone in safe mode by holding the vol down button when the HTC logo shows when you start up. *release power key and start pressing vol down when htc logo shows*
See if you can start properly with Safe Mode and if anything can be updated there. If it doesn't work, just wipe the phone once more using recovery mode and see if it works. If it fails again even after another wipe, you have to install the RUU for your phone again using the SD card method in the Readme thread.
hi,
shut down your phone
boot into bootloader mode - select boot to recovery
"WARNING - ALL DATA WILL BE LOST"
Next select from Recovery Mode menu "wipe data / factory reset" using Volume buttons to navigate and Power button to confirm.
Choose "Yes -- delete all user data" to confirm the whole operation.
After that select option "reboot system now".

[HELP] "Android system has sttoped working" loop 2 seconds, unable to use screen.

[HELP] "Android system has sttoped working" loop 2 seconds, unable to use screen.
Hello,
Lg g3 (Telefónica / Movistar branded Spanish carrier)
Bought in Jul 2014.
Weeks having reset problems, one day, on a reset, got the msg "Android system stopped working", close, 2 seconds, again same msg, I can't use ths screen to avoid it, just to close the msg window, neither to browse options in those 2 seconds in each loop. I can only use the turn on/off buton, so, when I reset, same stuff again..
I tried to use Recovery Mode (vol-) and I just get the option to restore and WIPE ALL INFO (even files, pics, etc..)... no more options
Tried Lg Suite + Download mode (I can enter in download mode) but the software don't recognice the device.... using original cable,
I need the stuff inside, don't care about the phone thou, will get a new one, but I really need the info inside (no SD, the info inside the internal storage).
Any help?
If you turn off the device, hold down power and volume down. Release them when the lg logo shows then immediately press them again you should get to a factory reset screen. Try performing a factory reset, this will not wipe your files, just all apps and app data
Hi,
thanks for the answer.
that was my first hint, but, as you can see ( imgur.com/ d31OXJi) that menu option says "Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings?"..
I do belive this is warning me about wipe all my data including pics, videos, contacts, etc...
Are you 100% sure that wthis will not wipe the entire information?¿
Thanks...
BUMP!
Can anyone help me or confirm us if I do the vol down restart to factory will wipe my pics away??
Thanks...
Really? Noone ever have restored the phone using this option on a g3 to know if the pics will be deleted or not? amazing...

OnePlus 3 not starting anymore

Hi,
I'm running a current Stock-ROM on my OP3, as provided by OnePlus OTA, never flashed something else. Just using the phone out of the box.
Yesterday, I deleted some cache data to free some space on my 99% filled up phone. Then I opened the gallery but not all thumbnails appeared and then it stucked completely. I holded the power button and it switched off. Now when turning the phone on a message appeared saying:
"The dm-verity is not started in enforcing mode"
After a few seconds it changes to the 3 animated points and this never ends. All I can do is switching it off, starting recovery mode or fast mode again with the same behaviour. I tried to connect it with my PC (W10) but it is not showing up.
How can I fix this problem without loosing my data especially my pictures and personal folders. How can I backup my data? I can still see them in recovery mode but how to access them and copy them? I could live with resetting the phone losing all settings and apps, but not my files.
What is your suggestion? Thanks in advance.
Ok, I just tapped on "Reset system setting", lost all apps and settings but it starts again and all my files are still there. Problem solved.
