As the subject says. I have a Zagg but I wanted to know if anyone has compiled a list of the different types of screen protectors. Friend got his protector from Ebay and its super clear and shiny with good fingerprint protection. I like the feel of my zagg but the look takes away from the glossyness of the Evo's screen. I didn't want to start another screen protector thread but i haven't seen this info readily available. Was looking for something like this:
Zagg - orange peel look. Great protection
Brand x - very clear. Easy to apply.
Brand y .....

I just got my Droid X today and I know my screen is going to get scratched to hell and back. I bought a quality one off of ebay for my TP2 and it was an all out pain to get on; ended up throwing it away in anger.
So what is the best screen protector for the X? I would like one that covers the whole face not just the area you touch. I hear the vzw ones suck...
I was considering buying one of those body guard kits and let someone at the mall install it (i can never seem to get the bubbles out). Are they any good?
There really isn't a "best" screen protector. It depends on what you want in a screen protector. There are two main types, the kind that uses static adhesion (think the plastic sheet that was on the screen when you bought it) or the kind that uses a liquid adhesive. (like Zagg Invisible shield) The liquid adhesive ones typically have better protection, but can cause more distortion and are known to more severely affect the feel of the touch screen. They can also be a ***** to put on, prepare to spend at least 30 minutes to do a proper job, and you won't be able to use your phone for 24-48 hours while it dries. However, if you are really worried about getting the best protection, go for that.
Static adhesion ones are probably going to work for the majority of people, especially since the Droid X has Gorilla glass and many people say you don't even need a screen protector at all. I believe SGP (also known as Steinheil) makes high-quality static adhesion protectors, but they may be out of stock at the moment. I'm probably going to get an SGP for my DX when they get back in stock. Go for the crystal or ultra-crystal, i've heard reports that the anti-glare or anti-fingerprint affect the feel/drag and look of the screen more than the crystals.
tl;dr Get an SGP (Steinheil) crystal or ultra-crystal
I used one on my MT3G. It's still on there after a year.
On the DroidX I haven't put one on. It uses 'Gorilla Glass' which is really good, from Corning.
There's a video on youtube where a guy tried to scratch his screen with keys about 30 times and it didn't scratch at all.
I haven't heard about anyone getting a scratch yet, and I'm not going to put on a screen protector.
May not need one on the DroidX.
Has anyone gotten a scratch yet?

Yea those ultra crystals look pretty good. Ive never used an adhesive one before though... i dont really like the sound of it either. I've used the water ones and they work ok...

These are the best ive found, and I have gone through FOUR brands now looking for what I want, including the verizon one.
The crystal clear ones are exaclty that -- crystal clear screen prots with adhesive on one side and a protective film on the other that you peel off the front when you are done applying the protector. THIS IS NOT THAT ZAGG POLYVINYL crap. I hate that stuff.
The anti-fingerprint ones are also nice, I have those too. They are a bit "cloudy" like the verizon ones, but your finger glides over them fantastically, and they reduce glare.
The best part is -- THEY COVER THE WHOLE SCREEN AREA! I wanted that especially. Enjoy!
well i think I am going to buy the crystal one... i just hope its not hard to put on. Im not the best at putting those sticky ones on
Zagg
Zagg works for me:

You don't need to use screen protectors on the Droid X. As stated before it has Gorilla Glass. If something happens that is strong enough to scratch Gorilla Glass a little plastic screen protector isn't going to stop it.
Steinheil Ultra Crystal is the best, hands down!
In my option, the best protector is the Steinheil Crsytal. I had it on my Incredible, my brother still does, and now I have the Steinheil Ultra Crystal on my DX. It keeps the screen perfectly glass looking, as if there is nothing on it, allows for easy sliding, and is nice and thick to protect the screen. In my opinion, you can't beat it.
With shipping I paid 17.25 for it... comes with 2 protectors. They initially lost my order, so they sent me another, and guess what? The original showed up. So now I am expecting another at the end of this week/beginning of next.
If anyone is interested in it, I would be happy to sell it since I obviously don't need it. Let me know. I also have an extra TPU argyle (dark gray) case that I would be willing to sell if the price is right. I paid 8 dollars, shipped, for it.
In my opinion, the SGP Ultra Crystal is by far the best protector for the X.
I've had the VZW protector, which was horrible, and I've also had a privacy guard. Though the privacy guard did keep my phone private, the touch screen functionality wasn't great because the privacy guard was too thick.
I ended up with the SGP Steinheil ULTRA CRYSTAL Screen Protector and I love it. It's so clear, and it almost feels like there is nothing on the screen, but it's pretty thick compared to others; thick enough to provide excellent protection and not hinder touch screen functionality.

Actually, Gorilla Glass can be scratched. I've managed to get a really bad 3 MM wide scratch on my Zune HD, which has Gorilla Glass as well. I've heard of similar reports of scratches on devices with Gorilla Glass. So in other words, these screens aren't scratch proof. They're scratch resistant.

SGP Steinheil ULTRA CRYSTAL Screen Protector +1
it's awesome. It comes with two, and I botched the first one... many would say it was fine, but I had like one spec of dust under it, removed, recleaned, reapplied number 2... it's AWESOME. I don't use a bumper or anything big and latexy around the outside of my phone, just a Steinheil on the screen, and nothing else. It's CLEAN.
SGP Ultra Crystal. Just put it on and I can safely say I'm very impressed. You really can't tell there's anything there imo. It was a pita to figure out how to put it on...at least for me. I had to watch a you tube video to realize there are actually 3 layers to each screen protector when first taken out of the package. Piece of cake after that. Gotta be smarter than the screen protector I guess.

After dealing with half a dozen screen protectors for my past 3 phones, Including Zagg, Seidio, and a bunch of other cheapies... I really recommend the Boxwave Crystal Touch.
It is literally the easiest thing I have ever applied, from out of the package to on my phone perfectly in less than a minute. You cannot even tell it is on your phone.
nG
Does anyone have any experience with this for the S3? Apparently, this was the screen protector that outed the S3 screen size when it came out or was leaked. The cut of the screen protector looks like it covers up the screen more extensively than others and even has a hole for the button as oppose to just cutting the section away like other screen protectors. Best I can tell, it's a dry-application PET film. It looks like quality stuff, but just not sure about the fit. They even have a full body shield. Looks like this thing is coming from Korea so ordering is a PITA.
Screen protector
Full body shield
A lot of the other companies are shortening up on the sides of the dry apply screen protectors because the phone's screen tapers off at the edges. This may cause it not to stick all the way..or come up loose pretty fast.
Ripoff price!

Hi everyone. I searched the forums for screen protectors, and what I found was a whole lot of threads on various screen protectors out there, but nothing centralizing these discussions. So I thought I'd create this thread.
1. What type of screen protector do you use?
2. How has it held up?
3. Have you gone without a screen protector?
4. If so, do you have any scratches?
5. What's the most you have paid for one?

7. Any Rants? Any Raves?
8. Any you would recommend?
9. Any you would want to try?
10. Any tips to putting certain ones on?
Let's help each other out by sharing our knowledge on screen protectors for the HTC One.

Zagg HTC One High Def Screen Protector - Amazon
I think Zagg makes the best screen protectors, I have used them on both the HTC Droid Incredible and the HTC One. The Zagg screen protectors are not the cheapest option for screen protectors especially if you go for the ultra clear model but I think the cost is worth it, especially since zagg offers warranty replacements, you only pay for shipping. With the warranty replacements, registering your product on the Zagg website is quick and easy, there are no serial numbers you need to have or anything, you only need to tell them what device you got it for and which model screen protector you got.
Another benefit of the zagg shields is the lifetime of the screen protector, in my experience the screen protectors lasted almost 2 years for my Droid Incredible before I replaced it, the screen protector started to come off around the edges of my phone. While the screen protectors do age, I would much prefer the aged screen protector opposed to any damage to my screen. In my entire life of my Droid Incredible, bought in April 2010 and still used as an e-reader by my girlfriend today, there is not one scratch on the screen thanks to the Zagg shield.
While I have not personally tried the Verizon 3 pack of screen protectors, I have had friends use them and they were disappointed with the quality of them, the biggest issue was having the screen protector stay on.
Zagg screen protectors have done such a great job in my opinion I have not wanted or even thought of trying another brand.
As for tips to putting the Zagg brand on, make sure you wash your hands before you do anything, clean the screen so their is no oil, fingerprints, dust or anything else on the phone, make sure the spray gets on both the screen protector and the screen but do not soak either, just enough spray to cover the phone and protector. I found it best when applying the screen protector to start at the top of the screen in one of the corners and work your way to the opposite top corner then work your way down, make sure to use the applying tool they put in the packaging, be sure to use a good amount of force when use the tool but be careful not to apply too much pressure and crack the screen.
If you do not want to try putting the screen protector on yourself, you can go to the Cell Phone employees at Best Buy and have them put the screen protector on. You do not need to purchase the protector from Best Buy, but they charge you a fee to do it. The major benefit of this is that if they screw up and ruin your protector they will replace it.
I tried the Verizon 3-pack when initially purchasing the one. While they are decent, I knew I wanted something a little more rugged.
I did some research and ended up settling on the Mime USA Feather lite tempered glass screen protector. It's super thin and flexes nicely when unboxed, so it's highly unlikely to actually shatter like other tempered glass protectors. It's extremely scratch resistent. I tested car keys, nails, and knives on the screen protector after applying it to the phone and absolutely no marks showed up. It fits perfectly to the parameters of the screen and is hardly noticable after application. I would highly recommend this product. I ordered it from the Mime USA website for about $28, they even threw in a code for free shipping!

I usually don't use screen protectors and whenever I put on a case, I take it off an hour later. I've had the phone for like 9 months now and the screen is fine. There are tiny little scratches but you can't notice them unless you try really hard to, they don't affect the clarity of the screen in any way. I just don't like using screen protectors because they attract finger prints and smudges so easily even when I try a more expensinve screen protector. Honestly the screen will be fine for a long time. Yes there will be extremely tiny scratches but you won't care because they're almost non-existant. But one thing to keep in mind though, is that sand is crazy harsh on the screens, so I'm extra careful when I go to the beach with my phone. That's when I suggest putting on a case and a screen protector. Because even if a tiny bit of sand getes in your pocket, it might cause a little damage. Right now my phone is brand new since I got it replaced because of a camera issue, and I just can't get myself to stick with putting on a case or screen protector, I had a screen protector on it but I took it off 2 weeks later because I miss the naked screen.

Reviews go with what you said. I think when I buy my next screen protector when my zagg wears down, I'm going to try one of these.
i'm using an invisible shield screen protector. Went on pretty easy, there were no bubbles, and it's pretty thick. I've only had it on for a week, so I can't say much about durability, but it's pretty good as far as a screen protector goes. I'm still very partial to those matte finish screen protectors, so i'll probably be picking up one of those in the future.

Got a MIME Feather myself about a month ago or so now, and I must say that it's the best choice I've ever made as far as screen protection. I'd had a Spigen and some other tempered glass brand, but they were both just too thick and noticeable on the screen. The Feather is perfect because it's hard to even tell it's on there, plus it has the Oleophobic coating to prevent smudges and fingerprints. Seriously, don't even waste your money on another screen protector. You can't beat the MIME Feather.

+1 what he said, minus the experience with Spigen. The MIME Feather is the first glass screen protector I've tried, and I don't think I'll ever use anything else. It's superb and well worth the premium price. With that on the screen and a Ballistic Shell Gel case on the rest of the phone, I don't worry about it too much.
I got a EBay $6.99, Chinese made, 0.4mm thick tempered glass screen protector a few weeks ago.
Went on really well, no bubbles and sticking down along all edges and corners. Has the beveled edges on the glass so no sharp edges.
Far better than ANY plastic one i have used on any phone. Touchscreen works well with it on.
Actually hard to notice now its on unless you run your finger from the speaker onto the screen , so the REALLY thin ones must be pretty close to invisible.
I polish up the screen every 2-3 days. Does get prints on it, so maybe the expensive ones have a better oleophobic coating??
For the price, most excellent.

so it's basically putting another layer of glass on top of your screen? Like putting a slide cover on a microscope slide? I wonder if that'll make screen touching a little imprecise (or any more than having a screen protector.

Its definitely putting another layer of glass on the screen. You have to be careful and get it in the right position 1st time as they dont move around once stuck down. Removing them without breaking is, i suspect, very difficult. The "tape hinge" method of application works pretty well.
I have found the touch sensitivity on mine to be great. Certainly there is no difference to the "usability" of the phone, and the smoothness an feel is as good as the original screen.
I did read one review where the buttons on screen wouldn't work with a glass screen protector, but that has certainly NOT been my experience. From what i have read the thickness of these has come down from around 0.6mm in early incarnations to something like 0.15mm and being flexible in some brands.
I got a 0.4mm one. No scratches as yet. Its supposed to be very hard (9H??). I had no issues with fitting my case on after installing the screen protector.. Its a cheap silicone and hardback model that provides good corner protection. Hopefully the screen protector will help if it falls on its face sometime.
What about Just Like Glass?
Has anyone tried it?
Didnt know protectors like the Mime feather existed. Will have to try it out.

Just bought my first one a month ago (MIME Ghost), best screen protector I have ever used. It's definitely scratch resistant and feels like the original screen. Not sure how it will hold up to drops, but that's not something I am willing to test.
Had a friend buy some Write Guard screen protectors for his HTC One. I installed one on his HTC One. Screen protector was all ready getting all kinds of scratches in it. No Bueno.
I used the XtremeGuard screen protector for a very long time on my HTC One, but recently I decided I wanted a matte finish screen protector, so I switched to Tech Armor Anti-Glare. Feels much nicer to me and gets a lot less fingerprints and smudges.
I was using the protector that came with the UG case. After reading this thread, I picked up a MIME. Very impressed. It goes on dry, was easy to remove and reposition and left absolutly no bubles (these drive me CRAZY). It has somewhat finger print resistant and I did not heave to deal with wetting the protector, then waiting 24 hours to see if all the bubles went away. Best screen protector I have purchased and believe me, I have tried at least 20 different types over the years.
I have had no issues with the touch sensitivity. You can't even notice it's on unless you look really closely at the top edge.
Using the screen protector that came with my otterbox comuter and it is quite terrible.
The screen protector has been on since April and it is already deteriorating. The spots where I'd swype, type show heavy signs of use. With a faint finger swipe over the screen you can actually feel the difference.
Other than that, the actual performance isn't the worst. Glare and all in the sun is bad, indoors though I don't have any issues.
Will look into MIME.
Cheers,
I just got my note four otter box in the mail today and noticed that there is quite a little but a space between my screen and a built in screen protector, I am even using a second screen protector actually on the screen that I had on prior and it was suggested on Amazon that it would help with the fitment but so far that has not been the case. Even with the increased sensitivity on I still notice times where when I touch my phone it does not respond like it should because of the empty space between my screen a day the protector . Has anyone else noticed this or do I have a defective case
Otterbox With Screen Protector
Having same issue with my N4 defender case...its almost that the thickness of phone to big for case and caues top of case to be smashed when the 2 plastic covers come together and leaves it bowed at bottom giving that flexing screen feeling near home button. Only fix i could find was to push out otbox screen protector and put tempered glass protector on the phone. Same protection but alot better.
I have always removed the built in screen protector on every defender case I've had... Works really well with Zagg Invisible Shield protectors.
Same issue here, was contemplating doing what @jon3640 did.
I removed mine and just use a tempered glass screen protector. This is for shatter protection and scratch protection. The defender case bezel is raised enough so that a face first fall will not impact the screen directly. Just push out the built in protector..... It's a finger print magnet anyway.
I was looking on Amazon for tempered glass screen protectors but nearly all of them had bad ratings so it has made it really hard to pick which one

I got mine from att it works great
I agree with most on here. Every otterbox I've owned the first thing I did was remove the built in screen protector and install the glass one. The glass ones I used came from Verizon but haven't tried the ones that say flexible but I've heard they aren't quite as good as the older ones they used to sell. They may still have them somewhere but they don't have them at my local Verizon store and none of the salesmen even knew what I was talking about which really don't supprise me considering. The glasses one seem to be far superior to the thin plastic like ones that you see all over amazon even though anything is better than nothing when you pay that much for a phone. Jesse

I had issues with mine as well .. the defender case .. I even cut the bottom off for the micro usb plug cause it was bending the cords. I just replaced it with different glass one and things are great now.
