Hi, I have an Desire HD from telus, It was rooted, s-off, then hboot-off to get fastboot commands, I flashed CWM 3.0 then CM7 and finally reinstalled the proper radio via fast boot.
However I seem to have no sound at all, not in the earpiece during calls or the back speaker.
Did I kill the phone?

When you say you reinstalled the proper radio via fastboot... could you explain precisely what you mean? Usually HTC Androids of different hardware bands can still all use the same radio firmware.
When I downgraded it changed the radio so I put the telus one back on.

Yup it was at max, I ended up getting it replaced, I'm gonna hold out on rooting it and stuff until people find out why the telus version is having these problems.

How did you locate the Telus radio to put it back on? To my knowledge there is no such radio easily available on the forums. Are you saying you made a backup of the radio and restored it later? Please clarify exactly how you did this and be as specific as possible. I have a gut feeling this is how you broke it.

Return to stick and get it exchanged at TELUS.
We should have a warning for this before more people start rooting.

Okay now I see what you mean. There's a thread.
Question: When you say you tried flashing back to stock, did you use the Telus Ace RUU that is posted on the forums?

And your sound still didn't come back?
No I didn't, I already got it replaced and haven't tried again. But it seems like more people are back.g the problem.

I would also try flashing the TELUS ruu as recommended above.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
And let us know if that fixes it =)
If I am not mistaken, the route:
Downgrade -> Radio S-OFF -> Telus RUU
should lead you to almost back where you started from but now with S-OFF. If everything is functional at that point, perhaps you could permroot from there and put in the custom recovery. Then try flashing custom ROMs and hopefully the sound won't go away.
Ya, but still would be nice to know the root of the problem.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I wonder if there is a specific sound component in this phone that is just different hardware from the Euro/Asian versions, and the older firmwares (maybe in radio, maybe in HBOOT?) don't have a driver for it.
On the non-HD Desire there was an issue where if you try to downgrade to an Eclair firmware meant for an AMOLED phone and you have SLCD, you end up with no display. I am reminded of that. The quickest solutions were to upgrade back using the RUU with the right hardware support.
Thankfully it's easier to find your way around a no-sound phone than a no-screen phone!
Ya that does sound easier then the original one.
Where is the TELUS ruu?

Trying to find a stock, unrooted 2.1 or 2.2 image for a US Cellular CDMA Desire, for warranty. I have been lookin for a couple days and have yet to find. Found several links on the xda forums but they were for rooted or nonstock images.
Didn't find one other than verizon's on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
Search function on the forums has not been workin for me as well, always get a temp. unavailable error, so please no search flames..
Thanks for any help here
You can get the stock 2.2 ruu off the USCC web site

Yep sure is, installed and works great (for stock). No issues no glitches, thanks for getting me in the right direction.
I would like to find a stock 2.1 to downgrade my Desire with to get it rooted. Anyone got one of those? I have found stuff, but none of it will work with the CDMA version.

you don't need to downgrade to root. Use unrevoked.
Unrevoked will not work on 2.2 CDMA Desire unless it was already rooted on 2.1 before 2.2 was installed

Yeah I saw that but haven't heard about anyone actually trying it on a USCC phone and what the effects are.
Thanks though
I picked up a Desire yesterday to try to start work on it also. I've been doing dev work on the Mesmerize since it came out and also for the Showcase (Cellular South).
Not that you guys probably care, but I'm a USCC Engineer and have access that has helped me out a lot to get the Mesmerize to where it's at today (of course with lots of help from other devs on the Fascinate side as well as the new guys with me). Unfortunately, things aren't as plentiful in the HTC firmware bin or I would have brought a 2.1 RUU over here a long time ago. On the Samsung side, if a customer brought a phone in to the store and had jacked it up, the in store tech had a stock image of the 2.1 firmware that he/she could flash back on the phone and it would be restored to it's factory state and the customer would be sent on their way. With the Desire, this doesn't seem to be the case. There was no factory image to flash to, so phones were swapped and sent in for repair.
I'm sure that the guys from unrevoked will probably figure this out before I even come close, but I just wanted to pop in and say hey and let you know that you have a friend on the inside (probably not the only one) that's working on things also. Feel free to hit me up. I'm always available for questions, comments, and suggestions.
Hey folks,
is it somehow possible to downgrade the radio to an older one without wiping or resetting the whole phone via RUU?
I just tried to flash an older one over the current radio image and it doesn't seem to work
Why do I want to downgrade anyways?
My phone crashs all the time. Especially when it's connected to the original charger from HTC (1000mA) and I try to use an app. Or when I use several apps at the same time, when not charging.
It could be the hardware-failure, everybody is talking about lately...
BUT I found out that everything is fine with the performance and stability of the phone, when I am using it in airplane-mode.
Everything was fine a few month backs, when I was using some older radios and ROMs.
The crashs seem to be somehow connected to mobile data usage (2g/3g). I've heard that some radios might be "better" in some regions as others. I'm from Germany, so maybe this is causing the instabilities.
I thought it is worth a try, before complaining hat HTC
Starting situation:
rooted AMOLED Desire (HBOOT 0.80.000 + S-ON)
AmonRa Recovery v2.0.1
Redux v1.1.1
vorkKernel 2.6.37.2 (CFS, SVS)
Radio 32.54.00.32_5.14.05.17
Thank you guys

Most likely to be hardware failure. Send it to HTC for motherboard change. Search for desire overheating and rebooting on its own in the forums and see if symptoms match. Had mine replaced

have done that, but it doesn't affect any downgrade.
How have you exactly done it? And you sure you didn't get any errors in recovery?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Downloaded old radio from the thread here on xda
copied to SD
booted into AmonRa Recovery
flashed the zip directly from sd
no erros, flashing susscessful (something like that displayed)
selected "reboot phone"
As always the normale procedure...
except that this time the ROM was booted after leaving the recovery, instead of the regularly shown "radio-installation-box-logo"...

The phone is running since two days straight without any crash and exceptional battery life, heavy usage...the only downside...mobile data is deactivated.
Does nobody know how to downgrade the radio?
Thanks.
Actually after trying the senventh Radio (no ****!) I succeeded
The only downgrade was possible with the "32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2" radio.
And since then my phone is running stable again! Amazing

I have a Telus Desire HD and I managed to downgrade then root and Radio s-off,then installed Revolution HD 5.2.3 and everything is great.
However now i am selling it and the person that wants it says he wants it stock with no root or custom anything.
Honestly I don't know how to go about it to do this and that is why I need some help from someone that has more experience and knowledge than me.
Thanks in advance and if i left out any important info about my phone let me know and i will include it.
You should have made a backup of your stock rom .
if you did flash it though recovery. It will lose root. Still be s-off but they wont know ha.
failing that you need an official ruu. This is an .exe file used. With a windows pc. You will find these in the dev forum or the htc website. Ruu will.remove s-off radio-off and the eng hboot.
if you dort have a pc or cant connect your dhd to it. Flash a stock (but custom) ·rom and tell them its done.
.if they dont mod phones they wont know the difference.

So after reading this what is your recommendation?Do i still need the gold card to flash the stock rom?
Thanks for the help bud!
Personally i would go for the first one you listed. Connect your phone to htc.sync and double click the ruu. It should run the update and return your phone to stock. No goldcard or special method needed. Let me know if it goes well?

I am so scared that this damn phone is bricked, please help!!
Edit:
Wow I almost got a heart attack and thought it bricked but was relieved when it booted up again.
But now I am scared to attempt this again and I don't know what went wrong.
Did it flash the RUU? or are you still rooted?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
No,unfortunately it did not flash cause it got stuck at the black HTC screen and then I disconected the cable rebooted the phone.
And now I am totally scared to even make a second attempt but eventualy I will have to.What is the chance of bricking the phone while running th RUU?
I have never heard of it happening before but I don't want you to be the first.
I don't understand why it didn't flash. If Ruu are not compatible it won't try to flash them. Usually.
I know its not morally right. But could you flash a stock rom via recovery then remove the superuser app. Giving the impression of being stock. Will be safer for you.

Is it possible to even brick with RUU at all?I want to give it a second try but the thought off bricking is scaring me.I use to own an Iphone before I switched to Android and I had the worst experience with the Iphone that it left a mental scar on me.
Anyway I spoke to the guy that wants to buy my phone and he is basicaly now saying that he wont mind having the phone rooted but he would like to have a stock rom on it.
I tried to tell him that the current rom that I have on (Revolution HD 5.2.4) is way better than stock but he is not listening to me.
There are stock roms in the dev section. Ill grab a link for you if I have time. Bit busy at the monent sorry.
Idont think you can brick with an ruu but I'm not 100 percent. Id go with the stock rom through recovery.

Not sure why the ruu failed. But if you want to give an alternative a try is run the ruu for the first two steps, right before it begins flashing. Go into your temp folder. You'll see a folder named bunch of gibberish. In there look for rom.zip. copy it and rename it PD98IMG. Place in the root of your SD card and flash through hboot
So I am on Windows 7 and where is this temp folder located specifically?
Could it be possible that the RUU failure is caused by win7?
Sent from my Desire HD
In the start menu search %temp%.
Not sure. Could be maybe a driver issue? Did you have USB debugging on? Maybe a bad download?
I've ran ruus on windows 7. So I doubt its the os
I think I did have usb debuging on....you think tat could be the problem?
And thanks for the search tip I managed to find the folder.
I will give this a shot in the morning with a nice cup of coffee .
Sent from my Desire HD
ive always have mine to have usb debugging on when connected to a pc, but not positive that it is required for the ruu. Ive only ran an RUU a couple of times.
Also do you have HTC Sync installed? if not install it and try RUU again. Personally i prefer the PD98IMG method though. keep us posted
I do have HTC synch installed so I think that can't be the problem.
I'll try the RUU method one more time and if it fails then I will try your method.
Thank's for your kind help sir.

Click on the filefactory link in the first post. These are the newest available RUU.
From your location tag, since ur from UK, the RUU roms available from the link above are only for Three_UK, TMobile_UK and Orange_UK.
As a reminder rooting and downgrading after the repairs from these RUU will require a goldcard, the warranty repair center will upgrade your rom anyway to the newest version anyways as per their procedure.
The ACE Hack tool return to stock above only works for for AT&T, Telus and WWE CID HTC__001.

Hi guys I have a HTC wildfire, and when I got it, it was locked to Orange (UK) and
thought I would root it, I followed a full guide here on XDA and I used HBoot x.2 to x.1 downgrade then rooted with revolutionary and it has successfully been rooted with ClockworkMod Recovery v.2.5.0.1 and with any rom I flash, it will say "NO service" requesting a sim unlock code at lockscreen unlock.
I REPEAT ORANGE (THE ORIGINAL CARRIER) does not give me a signal.
Does anyone know whats wrong?
Do I need a newer radio?
I went to some market stools with people that have the XTC clip to unlock phones and they needed to find out the original carrier, I told them 'Orange' they said they can't do it because every sim card they tried, they couldn't get a signal so they couldn't modify it.
Thank you.
