[Q] No 3G connection with Cyanogen CM7 Gingerbread - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This question should probably be in the thread for the rom.
The 3G connection is not working with Cyanogen CM7 build 32.
It was working with leedroid 2,3d.
Anybody got a clue?

Too bad that i need 10 posts before i can ask that question in the developer thread and report bugs.

I just flashed the latest radio without any better results.

This thread is correct to stay HERE..NOT in dev section, thats why the 10 posts rule
U should open a thread in dev section only if You developed something..
About the 3g connection, it works fine on my phone on latest cm7...maybe poor connection in ur location, i dont know

That was not an alternative. But i received a bootloop on the phone after installing a theme. Full wipe and clean cache + dalvik.
Then it works!

It´s working now after a clean of dalvik cache and manually set APN under network settings.

Doesn't Cyanogen have it's own forums? Surely you'd be better off there?

I was not able to make posts in that thread before 10 posts on the forum.

Same issue.
I am having the same issue. What do you mean by "manually set APN under network settings."?
Thank you.

Some APN settings from CM7 are not correct. You might need to manually enter these settings. You can usually find your carrier's APN settings either on their website or by calling them.
In CM7 go to settings, wireless & networks, mobile networks, then Access Point Names. You must delete anything listed by clicking on each one individually then clicking menu and choosing delete. Then you can add your settings by clicking menu then add on the main access point names screen.
Hope that helps!

APN
I added the apn manually and it fixed the issue for me. I had the same problem on leedroid btw.
Thanks.

I'm having the same issue, I was going to try and clear the settings but in my ver. of GB I have nothing to clear, it list, "Data enabled" "International data Roaming" National data roaming" and "System select, Home, Affiliated, auto"
The first three are check boxes only, nothing else, is there another way to reset?
Thx

I also had 3g problem with defy and cm7, Fixed
I found an app in the app drawer called baseband switcher. I simply had to open the app, set it to US Tmobile and reboot. I set the default apn to tmobile and now I have 3g/hspa.
Of course I didn't notice this baseband switcher app until after I wiped the phone twice trying to fix this issue
I hope I can save someone else the time and hassle of reloads and reboots and apn renames.

[Q]Cant send MMS

After i flashed 4.0.2 radio, i cant send mms anymore.. I got the apn from my mobile provider (Telenor), but its stuck on "Sending"...
Any one ?
Is mobile data enabled? Do you actually have a data connection? Unless your provider gave you the wrong information.
I still have lots of problems sending MMS. 4.0.2 running Android Revolution 2.1.2, with the leaked 4.0.3 radios. It was a problem when I was still 100% stock, too. Pretty bothersome.
3G, WiFi (which I'm pretty sure isn't supposed to work with MMS anyway), nothing. Sometimes when I reboot and retry sending it will go, but mostly just sits in sending mode forever. Frustrating.
Might just have a defective phone. Go back to stock and lock it up and take it to your phone company

go back to your previous radio? or pick another to test.
btw, radios are location and carrier specific..
which is why it works better for some an not others..
ppl should stop referring to radios with a link to rom versions..

get APN backup/restore and look up your APN details.
APN backup/restore doesn't work with ICS. Know of any other ways to tweak APN settings in ICS?
there is a thread in the main forum page 1/2 with apn settings, hit that thread then go to apn and create a new apn with the proper setting and see if that works.
Got it working. Thanks.

[Q] No Data After CM10 install

I have scoured this site (And others) for 2 days now and can't find anything really similar to my situation:
I am sure I will leave out some important details so please let me know what info you need to help me.
I flashed my GS3 with the latest nightly version of CyanogenMod from get.cm
it took some coaxing but I finally got through the status 7 error and got CM10 loaded and everything seems ok... Except I had no internet whatsoever... I could connect to wifi but no Mobile Internet...
When i go to the APN's, the "ATT LTE pta" is selected and all the settings are the ones recommended that I keep seeing around this forum as correct... Yet I get nothing. I have two "Preferred Networks" and it didn't seem to matter.
After some reflashing, restoring, and resetting to default and everything and still coming up empty, I chose the other APN that says "ATT wap cingular" and was able to get an "H" and "H+"
now I assume Thats HSPA and HSPA+ but I never get (And don't know the symbol for) LTE using CM... I drive to a big city that has LTE and never got anything other than H+.
Does this mean I don't have LTE?
Any ideas as to why I can't use the ATT LTE APN that everybody else seems to be able to use?!?
Any insight or recommendations would be great.
After you saw that there was no data did you perform a full wipe from recovery, meaning a "wipe date/factory reset" and also a cache and dalvik cache wipe? If not thats what Id suggest first and then reflash the rom and Gapps. Thats always the first step when trying to troubleshoot. In the main settings scroll down to "about phone" and make a note of the baseband version. Scroll up to "Status" and verify what the "Network"(ATAT), "Mobile network type"(LTE:13) and "Mobile network state"(CONNECTED) are listed as. To change any of these properties go to "Wireless&Networks"--more--. Select "mobile network" and make sure DATA ENABLED is checked. Network mode should say LTE/GSM/WCDMA. The APN needs to ATT LTE to use the LTE service. And finally select "network operators" and wait for the options to appear. Select ATAT, and then reboot the phone to see if any changes took hold. Another option would be to flash a different modem thru recovery. With CM10 the LTE service is shown with a "4G" icon vs a "4gLTE" icon on stock based roms.

I definitely did the first thing and tried a few different roms from the same site. I also tried the latest stable version of it with the same results.
I made a note of the baseband but where would I go to confirm that this is the right one?
Mobile Network type is HSPA10, Mobile Network State is DISCONNECTED,
Went to the settings and all the settings are as you suggest, AT&T is chosen as my network in network operators but still have he same issue.
When you speak about flashing a different modem...How would I go about that?!? And thanks for letting me know what the LTE symbol looks like... Now I KNOW that I don't have LTE
Thanks for everything

Sounds like the same problem as I had. Ended up that the IMEI got set to 0. I don't have the links atm on my phone but try searching for how to fix the IMEI and no data problem the gs3s have some times. I'll provide the links in a bit if I can in a bit if that's the issue.

2. wipe system
3. factory reset
4. wipe data
5. TWRP users wipe internal-wipes internal data that could corrupt something
6. flash rom
7. flash gapps
Do this if you have any unexpected problems.

Possible Data Fix
Alright, for anyone having issues with the CM10.1 "pre-release" builds (official or otherwise) not allowing you to keep a connection, here's how to fix it:
Download one of the modem files for your device (read!) in the OP of the modem thread. Any of the options will work, pick the one you want.
Keep that ZIP on your EXTERNAL storage. You need to be able to find it from CWM/TWRP.
With CM10.1 running, disable data from System Settings > "More..." (under Data Usage) > Mobile Networks > "Data enabled" (uncheck it)
Reboot into recovery. (Long-press Power, "Reboot", "Recovery", [OK])
Flash the modem from step 1.
Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Reboot back into CM10.1.
Wait 30 seconds!
Enable data from System Settings > "More..." (under Data Usage) > Mobile Networks > "Data enabled" (check it).
You should have data within 10-20 seconds!
If this doesn't work, you might need to reset your APNs to default. This will only happen if you make changes to your APNs, so go into the APN list and press the menu key and hit "Reset to defaults". Then start over at step 1.
To prevent this problem, you should disable data before shutting off your device. You can enable it 30 seconds after boot and it should work again. If you get stuck in the "disconnect-loop", repeat these steps.
Themes
Sense 4 10.1 theme (might work for other roms)

The same model of phone (well, more or less) is used for several Canadian carriers, which is why I'm asking.
Just to confirm: are you getting a data connection on something other than LTE? If so, that narrows down the number of things that could be wrong - my two immediate guesses would be that you have the wrong APN set or you have the wrong network type set in either Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks or in the Phone Info menu you can get by dialing *#*#4636#*#* (these are both known to happen immediately after flashing something).

Are you getting a 4G logo on your bar? I cannot get anything but 3g,H, and H+. Mobile network setting set to LTE/GSM/WCDMA. any help would be nice, I seem to mainly get H+ and sometime switches to 3G.

did you try the fix in the op?
CM10.1 on Bell Galaxy SIII
I installed CM10.1 yesterday. Most of it works flawlessly. Had to uninstall and reinstall some apps (Google Play Magazines) for example. But almost all of them work as is.
I do have a problem with cell data connectivity. I need to reboot a couple of time to make it work. When it does, it works flawlessly. But when it doesn't there's nothing you can do. And it's random. You reboot, it may or may not work. If it doesn't, you reboot until it does. I also didn't have H+. I changed my baseband version and I now have H+.
This very much like a limit condition on init sequence. It was working with CM10 so I guess the components initialization sequence changed a bit for CM10.1.

Does CM10.1 have a LTE icon that appears when LTE is being used, or does it always just say "4G"?

Note 2 No data coverage after 4.3 update?

Just upgraded to 4.3 today but my data services don't seem to function well. Can someone please help me?
Same problem here..
Looks to be an issue with TWRP, have either of you tried the latest CWM recovery? I was hoping to avoid it since my nandroid backup was TWRP (I'm honestly not sure if there's a difference) but a few posts in the main threads are reporting a similar thing.
EDIT: Nope, same issue, at least for omnirom.
I take that back, it does work.
Go to Settings - Network Connections - More Networks - Mobile Networks - Access Points Names
Check and see if you have the APNs from your provider, they usually are 3 ([Provider] Internet, [Provider] WAP, [Provider] MMS - in my case). Make sure [Provider] Internet is selected. When I usually re-install some ROMs, the WAP APN is selected by default and that will show me the 3G data icon but it will not let me access internet resources with my data services.
If by any chance you are missing the Internet APN, search a bit on the internet for your provider APN settings for internet access.
Hope this works.

It just acts like there's no SIM card at all. I don't understand it completely, but CWM is doing something that TWRP is not (or vice versa) and is causing this issue. Took my 7105T from virgin vanilla stock to the omnirom 4.4.2 nightlies yesterday and when I flashed from CWM the issue was resolved.
That said though, I'm unsure how this will affect omnirom's updates so I might need to switch to cyanogenmod. Shame, because I do prefer TWRP.
