TextFree - Pinger Free - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Im posting the apk since is not available in asia or europe
Pinger TextFree is a TXT solution that allows you to send TXT for free to a bunch of countries.
The cool thing about this android app is that gives u a number in the US so you can send and receive from that number or send from your number as well (paying obviously)
http://www.4shared.com/file/dT_WIOib/compingertextfree.html

Can you send free txts to Finland? Can you check it?

i dont know nobody in finland to try it out.
But im in the UK and I know it sends free TXT to:
-US
-Canada
-UK
-Dominican Republic
-Puerto Rico
I haven't tried any other countries.

there is a similar app called HeyWire! available in the market. check it out! should support sending messages/sms to Finland, it's saying "free text worldwide". in Germany it works without any problem

Thanks for the advise, I might check that one!

For me HeyWire blows... it said msg sent, but none of my friends got my messages using HayWire.
On the other hand, WhatsApp is working well for me, check: http://www.whatsapp.com/

thank you so much for this man . i've been looking for it everywhere

no call signal with custom roms
Pinger doesn't work with custom ROMs. Any idea how to get it fixed?

[Q] BBM for Androids? Maybe

Hello, Newbie to Android world here - receiving my HTC Desire, hopefully, next week.
Just wanted to share some information regarding an application called "LiveProfile" which will soon be released that incorporates BBM for Androids, if im not mistaken.
Anyone heard of it?
Just looked it up and from what I can see its a replacement for bbm. It will work across iPhone, blackberry and android. Basically MSN messenger for phones.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I've been using a BlackBerry for practically 2 years now and I have to say perhaps the only application that has the BB stand out among its rivals is the BlackBerry Messenger - now with LiveProfile, I'm very excited for the upcoming release of this app.
What's the advantage of this over WhatsApp or PingChat? Those are both multi-platform already, and with WhatsApp there's no need for a user name as it uses your phone number, so anyone in your contacts with the application is automatically in your friend list.
Yeah, why another one? ... PingChat is OK.
I know, competition is good.
But for this kind of app, I just want ONE ...
It seems impossible.
Wait until someone created multi of multi IM of multi IM ...
PingChat is a good one.
MJwitter: well, quite frankly, i believe there is one prime advantage over iphone's Whatsapp in terms of privacy. With "whatsapp" you do not necessarily have to have the contact on your list, just as long as he has your number he is able to send you msgs - which a lot of people would find annoying (you could probably ignore them, im not sure, but its a terrible feature initially)
gogol + lukehluke: i have never heard of ping chat before. i'll have to google it. However, as i have mentioned earlier i believe this application is intended to merge bbm, whatsapp and so on all under one roof - again I am uncertain of this information; however, hopefully this turns out to be the advantage of LiveProfile.
Nonetheless, thank you for sharing that information.
I just checked it out; however it seems to display an error when i clicked on "Join Now." Is this application not yet released?
there are quite a few BBM replacements available. They will never connect to BBM Contacts but provide the same functionality.
1. PingChat
2. Cnectd
3. LucidMessenger
4. Pmessenger
those are all i know of atm.
I'll try ping chat on HTC, just as soon as I get it by next week.
I heard about Pmessenger, but the reviews weren't very good.
Is WhatsApp ever coning out for android?, ive tried to convert a few people over to ping chat but they all use whatsapp

I'm confused. Help me. What is the differences between pingchat, whatsapp and IM messenger such ebuddy, fringe, and nimbuzz?
LOL try to be patient, my friend.
Ive been trying to do that for the past 24 hrs too. fortunately, a few ppl installed it.
however, they dont need to "convert" to pingchat, ask them to install it and they could use both ;D

Pingchat and Whatsapp? call themselves 'SMS Replacement' apps. Wherein they act like BBM so you can send a message whether a person is online or offline. These apps can only be used between their respective clients i.e. Pingchat-to-Pingchat, Whatsapp?-to-Whatsapp?
IM clients connect through AIM, MSN, Facebook &c.
Whatsapp Beta works. Google up Whatsapp android beta and youll find a download link on a facebook page. Install it and then you may get authorization error just wait like 1 day and try again and it will work. Been working well cant find any bugs with it yet.
I tried what you said but only info seems to say the beta is only available for people living in san fansisco and whatsapp put the app on your phone from there office?, cant seem to find a download link or apk file, if you have a link can you post it or reply to me with a pm to the link please, thanks.

Ok i found it
http://beta.whatsapp.com/WhatsApp.apk
It installs fine but doesnt seem to work as you need to register to be a beta tester.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yea like i said install it it will fail just wait and try again tommorow and it will start working. lots of people have reported success after waiting a while
Cool, i'll update in a day or 2 if its working, did you email them to request to be a beta tester or just try it after a few days and it worked without emailing them?

Didn't send an email

Cool, its started working.
Ok, my quick review - pingchat vs whatsapp
Its alot faster than pingchat in terms of messages being delivered, sometimes pingchat lags a very long time and also pingtchat soelmetimes doesnt give notifications unless you open the app, so whatsapp wins on those two.
But pingchat has a MUCH better look and feet to it, and it works on phone numbers & ID's so you can use either, but whatsapp only works over phone numbers, so unless i have the persons phone number i cant message them on whatsapp, but on pingchat you can just use there id and dont need there phone number so pingchat wins on that.
So both have goods & bads, ping chat is free though which is a plus, if you check in the account info in the whatsapp beta, it says it expires in November 2010, so i asume thats when it goes live in the android marketplace, it also has an upgrade option so it will definatly be a paid app when its released and have a limeted free use period
More people use whatsapp so its better "at the moment", but pingchat has a much better feel to it, so hopfully more people start using pingchat.

[Q] Facebook Link Issue

When you link a contact to Facebook, it'll seem to take preference on the Facebook number on the account. Now if the number starts '447xxxxxxxx' when you try and ring it doesn't call and fails as it needs to be '+447xxxxxxx' or '07xxxxxx'. As its ringing the wrong number. This is in the UK by the way so the 44 may be different in othere countries
Example
Mike in my phone has a mobile number of 07123456789. In Facebook it is down as 447123456789. After I sync my contact on my desire to the facebook account the only number is 447123456789 in the Contact. When I try and ring it fails as it needs to dial 07123456789 not 447123456789
Has anyone else had this issue? And has any1 got around it?
Thanks
This is what happens, you have to have the friend in question change their number on their FB account
Having said that, there was a way of changing the default number but it's easier to just have the friend change it online
Thanks 4 that. However that isn't possible as there is a good number of friends like that.
How do u change the default? Do you have any idea? Or does any1 else?
Thanks

[Q]keyboard

I have a question.....about htc's keyboard (RCMixHD rom)..i don't remember the stock one..but either way....where can I find phone smileys ....without using any app like go sms pro....(there I have an option ..and I see them )and when I check out the standard program they appear there too...they are like this "" but with an android instead this ball
Awww, my baby sister asked the same question...
There isn't a button that brings up the smilies but honestly, three key presses will get most (punctuation).
on the Stock HTC keyboard press "12#" then "1/2"
All I know about that is on WhatsApp.
It is a free App on market tha allow you to send and recieve SMS like a chat to everybody who have the same app. It is for free because it works on 3g wireless network.
If u use it for your SMS (Free with a flat internet plain), it will give u the possibility to use smiles.
Sorry

[Q] How to see SENT time of a text I received, NOT the time I received it

Hi all,
I have tried to find out the answer to this in so many places but I have come up without any answers, so am hoping someone here can help.
When I receive a text message it shows up with the time I received the message, not the time it was sent. Even if I go to "View Message Details" it will show me the received time but not the sent time.
I asked a friend who has a HTC (I don't know anyone else with a Xperia S) phone and he says it shows him the time the message was sent, so I'm wondering if it's a bug with my phone or if it's an issue with the default messaging app from Sony.
Anyway, how do I get it to show me the date and time a text message was SENT to me, and NOT the time I received it?
Many thanks in advance,
Bungle2000
Sony Xperia S LT26i
Android: 4.0.4
Build: 6.1.A.0.453
UK SIM Free
You can't it only shows the sender of the message the time it was sent while the receiver gets to see the time it was received

Thanks Hayden, does that mean it's just an issue with the default messaging app that Sony provide or is it an issue with the phone?
Would a different messaging app help clear this up or would I need a modded software?
Does anyone know?
Anyone know if this is an issue with the phone or with the default messaging app or Android OS??

it is the same problem that i had with xperia x10...if you use another sms/mms app from market (like handcent) you can see the sent time too
Anyone tried Sliding Messaging?
Thanks guys, I've read about the 2 big sms alternatives for Android - Handcent and Go SMS and there is a lot of people saying that they have become too big for their use.
I like the SMS app on the Xperia S, but I think it's a total UI design flaw to show only time received from incoming messages.
I've read some good things about Sliding Messaging and I've heard it's made by someone from XDA Developers, has anyone tried this?
Thanks,
Bungle2000

[Q] Group text

I looked for a similar thread and I couldn't find anything. I dont know if its rom specific or maybe a setting I missed somewhere.
I'm Military and I often get group texts from 10+ people at a time. I'm running Slimkat 4.0 release. Now I get the texts which is great but I get them all individually. Instead of all on one text. So I have multiple numbers texting me from one group and It's hard to know who was the original sender to reply. Is there a setting I happened to miss or is this something that I can fix through some help. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
There might be some settings there in the message app, but I have never used that ROM to be honest.. Textra works really well with group messaging however, you might want to give it a try!

I downloaded it and I'll give it a try. Seems to fit my needs for the "inverted" type. Hopefully its the app and Textra will fix it. Thank you.

You're welcome just remember if one of the recipient's SMS app doesn't support group texting, you'll still receive the messages individually, but only for those recipient's replies
