Ok, so I want to flash up to myns 5 but I hear you need to update radios. I also read a thread where someone did the flashing in the wrong order and bricked themselves. I need help, do the radios nedd to be flashed first or the rom?

Full wipe, then Flash the rom first then the radio and then flash the rest one buy one.
Would it cause a problem if I flashed them all at once?

Flash then all before leaving recovery. Also when flashing radios make sure you let them flash if it looks like your phone is stuck just leave it alone for half an hour. When flaking then you will see an android with adb arrow or a box with an arrow coming out of it this is normal DO NOT PULL BATTERY you will brick your phone.

how old is your evo? when was it purchased .. when was it built?
did you check if you radios need to be updated??
this maybe unnecessary.
radio update.. is your biggest concern... once started.. you must let it finish... even if it looks like it is locked.. if you have to leave it run for 1hr.. let it run till it finishes.. till it boots back up to recovery!!!! make sure you have a full charge on battery!!!!
if you interfere with it.. the radio can be crapped.. and the phone has a high chance of being bricked.
I'm just worried about the brick part. I know if I flash a different kernel I won't need radio update, it's that correct?

i am a little worried on that question.. not sure if read it right...
are you asking?
if you can change the kernel.. INSTEAD of upgrading the radio?
answer = NO; they are totoally different things. Radio is way lower in the phone.. and is done deep down... that is why it can Brick your phone.
the radio needs to be updated.. once..
it will work with everything else...
unless a new radio is released.. but they do not change them very often.
then..
kernels and ROMs can be changed as often as you wish...
What I mean is stock on myns 5 requires a radio update however ziggy or another kernel does not. Is this true? The stock kernel needs the radio update or the rom?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
it is required for all new ROMs... and all new Kernels.
you need to do it.. if you dont already have it.
have you even checked if you have the new radios? how old is your phone?
boot into amon ra recovery. If you have clockwork recovery use rom manager to flash amon ra recovery.
Download myns's rls5 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
download the latest radio combo update here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
Place both files on the root of your sdcard
1.Backup apps via titanium or or some other method.
2. Wipe data , cache, dalvik cache 3x each.
3. Choose install zip from sdcard.
4. Flash latest radio update combo.
5. Follow all prompts. Be patient the radio flash takes a few minutes. DO NOT PULL BATTERY! Let it finish. It will go back to recovery when done.
6. Reboot device after radio flash complete. Then go to menu--> settings-->system updates--> update profile.
you have now flashed radio combo
Then reboot into recovery. Wipe data/cache/dalvix 3x each again.
Choose install zip from sdcard.
choose myn's rls5 and flash
enjoy

I went in to recovery, wipe all, data, cache etc, flash R5, and before rebooting, wipe just the cache and dalvik, and flash the custom kernel, sbc 4.1.9.1 I think , it went great!
I think you only need to update radios if your planning to keep the stock kernel, let me knorr if this works for you.

You CAN use setcpu with a HAVS kernel, but doing so would be counter productive, as the HAVS basically has a built in setcpu. I still have it on my phone, just disable at the moment.

Maybe this didn't aswer your question, but I just finished flashing Myn's RL5 without upgrading the radios.. if you flash a custom kernel (one in a few that myn's list in his OP) and DID NOT boot between flashing the ROM and the kernel, you can used RL5 just fine with the old radio.
I think the new HTC kernel that need radio update.

Try Netarchy's 4.3-havs-more with or without sbc.
Just fyi, i tried overclocking these and it messes with the phone not writing pictures to the sd. The first set of pics are fine, but once you connect to the computer and save them, the rest of the pics you take show up in the phone but not on the sd. It took me forever to figure this out, lol.
Good luck on finding the right match.

Some more details would be spectacular, such as which apps you're trying to use that give you that error. Do any other root apps work? What method did you use to root? Do you have the 'super user' app installed on your phone? When you boot to the bootloader, does it show Ship S off or Ship S on? What method did you use to flash the rom? Did you do it manually in recovery, or did you use ROM Manager?
When I boot to recovery it shows s-on. I don't remember the exact app name but it was used to manage power and cpu usage to boost performance. I used unrevoked root method found on xda.

Okay, you should be S off, not S on. Since you have custom recovery installed, you need to download the unrevoked forever s off tool, and flash it in recovery. Then boot back to your bootloader, and be sure that you're S off. At that point, I'd boot back to recovery, do a full wipe (data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and flash calkulin's format all.zip), then reflash your rom. See if it works after that.

Not a problem. And if you are on the newest version of clockwork recovery, you may not be able to flash that Calkulin's Format all.zip. You may need to flash King's format all zip instead, which I will attatch for you. Just remember, that after you flash either of the Format all.zip's, you need to flash a new ROM before you boot up. Once you flash the Format all.zip, everything geti's wiped, and you won't be able to boot up.

Correct, they both do the same thing, except king's is edify compatible, which makes it gingerbread and clockwork 3.0+ friendly.
Also...kings black titanium is my first flashed rom. I like it...but I don't want to miss out on something better. I am sure I will try other roms ...but in the meantime...any suggestions for performance and stability roms. http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/ < gapps [google apps] you flash them in recovery after flashing a new gingerbread rom, its so that your market, gmail, ect installs and work. And CM7 offers a lot of customization, plenty of themes, ect. You can overclock your phone using setcpu or from settings > cyanogen mod settings > performance > cpu settings. The only real con is a few select apps don't have gingerbread support yet, like juice defender, I believe. And if you want to update your PRL, you have to flash a sense rom, update, flash back, but that's easy.
Okay so that zip file is the gapps for cm7 rom? Now is the cm7 fast and responsive and is it a gingerbread based rom? I've been doing this replying back and forth from my phone...havent done the research yet.

im running myns warm 2.2 i love sense i've been to cm7 and back a hundred times that with netarchy's 4.3.1 kernel is nice fast pretty decent battery life too but ya gotta give it day or so to see better life and lots of mods for myns too. id rather wait for gingerbread til someone other than cm to come out with one
well since i cant flash kernels but i can flash roms that comes with kernels is possible i can customize the kernel in the rom? i mean like flashing a rom and adding my own choice kernel?
Why can't you flash kernels? You do it in recovery the same way you flash a rom - with the exception of wiping data. You only need to wipe cache/dalvik.

you dont know i try everything i even posted it on xda asking for help. i follow all there steps still same problem bootloops. i even had to factory reset twice because i was stuck in bootsceen. i used unrevoked to root but i was thinking maybe if i unrevoked it and using a differnt method to root. but i havent tryed it. so i donno if its phone or the program im using to root i donno whats the deal. i never flash any kernels because i was unable to pass the bootloop. the only way to get a custome kernel is flashing a rom that has a custom kernel.
It def doesnt have anything to do with unrevoked. What ROM are you running and what kernel are you trying to flash? Are you wiping cache and dalvik?

How did you root? May just be something wrong with your phone.
i had the same problem a while back. couldnt flash anything at all tho. had to unroot and wipe completely, and go stock for a day or two. everything has been flawless since.
I reflash to odin, root with the new one click, wipe data, cache and dalvik, flash SRF, after a few hours it will freeze with a black screen and I have to pop the battery to re-boot. I've tried wiping 3 times, turning journaling on, etc. Every non-asop rom eventually freezes on me, however, miui and cm7 never have that problem? Looking for suggestions and and aswser as to why the aosp roms never have the same issue. Any other rom freezes with in 24 hours, cm7 and miui have never froze on me.

I'm wondering if you are using any cpu control apps? Setcpu? Pimp my cpu? Voltage control?
And/or any ram mamaging apps like auto memory manager?
I would suggest after you get on srf 1.1.1, get setcpu, do a quick auto detect on there, and change settings to conservative 200 min 1000 max, see if that helps, make sure you do NOT have both voltage control and setcpu installed.
Auto memory manager will also interfere with the ram tweaks in srf that's why I included that

CM7 and MIUI are both aosp, neither of those freeze, neither does a stock odin flash, any custom rom freezes.

I'm not using voltage control or setcpu, but I am using an auto task killer. Could that be the issue? And why is it only on non-aosp roms that I have this problem. Never had a bad flash with miui or cm7, and evey custom rom always freezes after trying everything.

For some reason now, my phone won't take kernels anymore. I can install ROM's and everything else, but when i try and flash a different kernel my phone won't keep it. It will reboot fine, but when i go and look in the settings to see if the kernel is there it is not installed. I do the usual clear dalvik and the cache then flash the kernel. It says it installed it, but it doesn't. Has this ever happened to anyone else, and if so how do you fix it? I have also completely wiped the phone and that did not help either. I have a HTC EVO 4g.
