I'll get my phone back from motorola after having the speaker problem soon. Also i was quite happy when i looked around the defy section and found out that there are so many 2.2 roms. So now i have this question.
1. I'm not familiar with nandroid back and all that. So if someone can give me some explaination of how it works and what i need to do to have a backup of my rom so i can flash back to orignal one whenever i want?
2. Also i heard from people that some ROMs are not flashable or you can't get back to stock rom (recovery), if so then how you know that certain rom isn't flashable
3. Is there a difference between recoving (flashing stock rom) and downgrading?
Thanks !
No one actually knows what flashing is? recovery....i'm surprised...do answer please if you know anything

Sorry for sounding n00b, but i need to know how to reflash my Desire's ROM back to stock.
My Desire's ROM is currently Oxygen v2.0- RC7, but i want to reflash back to FroYo Sense which is the stock ROM, only i dont know how.
Can anyone here help me? Thanks in advance.
Check out the available ROMs here:

If you're not bothered about going back to the exact stock ROM you had, try Leedroid - it's a great ROM and is as near as dammit to the stock ROM.
Remember, although you're trying to get rid of Oxygen, do a backup first so you can restore if flashing the new ROM goes wrong.
Happy ROMming!!

Does the stock ROM 'contain' Sense?
LeeDroid isn't a stock ROM, it's a custom ROM based on Sense
If you want to go back to 100% stock (non-rooted) then you'll need to get the RUU suitable for your phone

You could of went to the android sub forums and searched. You don't need to unroot your phone. Just flash which everyone you choose.

I also have tried custom ROMS and now back in Stock ROM
If you have ROM Manager installed, then you can easily recover your original stock rom (remain rooted). But this is the case where you already made a Nandroid Back up before flashing Custom ROM.
If you cannot go that way, You can try flashing the full stock ROM (RUU Files, not PC10IMG). I never tried this, but what I understand from the threads I read, It will unroot your device. You might have to re-root again later (if you want to)
Cheers..
Ha ironically I recently made the same move. Rooted/stock, got tired of the little annoyances. Vanilla wins for me right now.

Ditto that. Too many issues with either CM7 or HTC Sense based ROMs. I really enjoyed using Virtuous for a long time, but having random hard reboots in version 1.0.2 pushed me away from it and back to stock (with root). Everything works, and that's what is most important to me.
First I want to say I'm sort of a nooh with roms. I flashed my phone to one of the new roms but having problems using a lot of the att services and most applications. I want to flash back to stock for the mean time but did not do a nandroid backup. Is there anywhere I can go to download the stock nitro rom? Someone please help!
Try the system.img here if you still need it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389041&highlight=nitro+stock+rom
I have googled this question quite a few times but haven't found a real answer so here it is....I am currently rooted and running cm10.1.3 and I want to flash 4.3 ROMs but I'm not sure if I need to upgrade to the official 4.2.1 uvmc6 then reroot my phone in order for 4.3 ROMs to work correctly??? I did see somewhere that said about upgrading my recovery which is cwm 5. Something but its a touch version.. If someone could please shed some light on this process that would be great... I just want it done right so I don't screw something up.. Thanks in advance

Make a backup
Using Odin, install the latest TWRP Recovery
Reboot to Recovery
Make another backup (Once this is done, you can delete the one you just made, if you want to)
Flash 4.3 Rom
Flash 4.3 Gapps
Reboot
Enjoy
Or you can just flash twrp from the development thread.
yeah meekrawb made a flashable twrp 2.6.1.0 go search for it
Cool thanks you guys for the responses but I think I might go with Odin just to be sure nothing goes wrong!!
ODIN flashing increases your flash count. Avoid if at all possible.
Hi
I saw a similar thread with a similar question but I don't think the person was asking the exact same thing and to be honest I didn't fully understand the answers either so apologies if it looks like I am asking about something already covered.
Basically I took a nandroid of my stock 4.1.2 DME6 firmware before I flashed a custom rom. I have since rooted and am using 4.4.2 wesamothman's custom rom. I need to return to stock and have seen the tutorials explaining how to do this using odin and the RUU firmware downloads from Sammobile. But I want to know can I return to stock by restoring my original nandroid, then flashing a stock recovery?
I'm worried because I've heard horror stories about DME6 causing bricks and also I'm not sure if it's possible to go back to an earlier firmware as simple as just restoring a nandroid.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
