I installed Redemption Rom 2.3 last week. So far luv it....it fixed all the issues I was having with stock. The main issue.......lots of times I could not answer the phone!
Anyway...I only have a 2gb SD card. I was looking at it today and there is a folder (unzipped) that says "Redemption Rom". In it, is the contents of the zipped file I downloaded and installed. My guess is that during the installation, the zipped file got unzipped here.
I'd like to delete it but want to be sure.
Thx in advance......
Lou used to make an additional/optional apps folder that installed w/ his ROMs.
Does this folder have apps in it that are not in the ROM?
As long as that folder isn't the optional apps folder, you should be fine to delete it.
Likewise, if you have a RR optional apps folder and no interest in those apps, you can delete those too.
Assuming you have a backup of your current RR setup already before you delete this folder?
dunno....i'll have to look at it....its on my other pc
thx

To clean your SD card, simply just format it via your computer.
I need to keep SD there 14GB of data on it,
Delete default.txt (or startup.txt depeding on your setup), data.img, rootfs.img, zImage, system.sqsh, any of the FSCKxxxx.REC files, the "Android" folder (if you have one), the "AndroidApps" folder (if you have one), the "conf" folder (if you have one), the "cache" folder (if you have one), the "download" folder (if you have one), the "media" folder (if you have one), the "startups" folder (if you have one), and the "wallpapers" folder (if you have one). That should delete most or all of the Android files.
i always wished android was in 1 folder for this reason.

I just ended up putting everything else that was WM related in its own folder instead... that way when I clean my SD I only have to worry about making sure that my "WMStorage" folder stays on my card, and I can delete everything else without fear.
i keep what i can in folders but android is still mixed in with stuff that has to stay at the root of the sd card. it doesnt bug me that much but i still wished it was set up a little different.

Thanks
It is all sorted out..

i just saw the gsensor is working? i might attempt to clear android off and reload it up. i wanna play abduction.
Is it possible to move one Program from a ROM to another ROM? I've tried TB but it only see's that it's a backed up file but won't restore. Is this possible and if so, what is the process?
you can unzip both ROMS and drag the app from the Sys/app folder on one to the same folder on the other, rezip it and flash it and it will install with the flash
Titanium Backup is really the only way. What exactly happens when you try to restore? Does it give you an error.
HipKat...thanks! As soon as I posted this I found that I can get into the zipped APK folder, move it to my SD Card, and then use my file manager to install it. Worked great! This is the fix!

Cool. I forgot about getting into the zipped folder with a file manager
A little background:
I am on the Arial ROM.
I had installed App2ExtSD2;, but have since uninstalled it
The camera/video will not save files to the DCIM folder on the SDCard. Looking in the DCIM folder on the External SD card, I have a Camera folder there that is where the files will save. I do NOT have a Camera folder under DCIM on the SDCard. So I thought maybe I need to create that.
But here is the strange things I see now:
I am unable to create a folder in the DCIM folder. Even though I tried with Root Explorer, and with R/W turned on.
So I tried to boot into TWRP recovery and do it from the file manager there
While looking at the DCIM folder from TWRP, I DO see a Camera folder. Rebooted to Android, and don't see it.
This is really strange.
Any suggestions? (I suspect I need to reinstall all).
Well, not sure what was going on. I tried reinstalling the ROM...no go.
I ended up completely wiping, reflashing stock, then going back to the custom ROM, and it works fine now.
Hey guys wanted to know how can i clean wipe all the data folders on my phone except the new ROM file i want to flash
i have done normal formats and wipes but got so many dead/duplicated folders on it with the 0/0 and some other stuff
for exmple with root browser i got the SDCARD folder and then i got the STORAGE/SDCARD0 folder again
also got STORAGE/EMULATED/0/ and here ALSO all the files
and also on STORAGE/EMULATED/LEGACY
what am i missing guys?
The SDCARD folders are in fact only links to the real sdcard folder.
I think these links are needed because android used to have another folder structure and older apps wouldn't be able to accept the sdcard.
For a completely clean wipe you can select wipe internal data in TWRP. Maybe you can push the ROM you want to flash via ADB push. But I'm not sure about that.

Ok thanks bud, its just that i know that the /0/ folder is a shortcut to the real folder yet the other 2 i wrote down are old files that i had with other ROMS i have used back in the day
Ok so I just rooted my S3, 4.4.2 Boost Mobile phone. Worked fine. No problem rooting it. Made a backup using CWM and then I installed Philz recovery and also made another back up. In recovery it shows BOTH backups, and says they are located in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
then in individually named folders of the backups.
HOWEVER, when I look using ES File Explorer, I only have the clockworkmod folder, and it does NOT contain any other folders, no "backup" folder at all.
Ok, so let me try the Aroma File manager. Same thing if I go to /sdcard/0/clockworkmod/ there are two very small files:
".last_install_path", and ".recovery_version".
HOWEVER, I am able to navagate to /sdcard/clockworkmod/ and THERE I find the backup folder with my two backups.
Why can I not find this folder from android? Even when I use STORAGE ANALYZER and tell it to look at the system parttions and even when I use ES FILE MANAGER and tell it to do an SD CARD ANALYSIS, it doesn't show these backups. So I have copied a backup to the download folder of the sdcard and am hoping to copy it over to my PC before flashing a new ROM.
NOTE: I do NOT have an external SD Card installed yet.
I just thought this is super strange. ?? Anyone have any idea? Thanks.
Now after booting into Android and looking into the folder I copied to /Download, the folder is empty.. !?!? I'm SO LOST right now....
It SHOWS that space is missing on my device so these files DO EXIST SOMEWHERE but SOMEHOW it's as if they are being hidden... is it knox???
Ok if I use "MY FILES" I can see the folder that I copied to /Download and the files in it, but NOT if I use ES File Manager, and NOT if I use Root Explorer. However even MY FILES still shows clockworkmod dir as empty!?
Ok so it turns out it has something to do with a permissions issue. Why is that? I run Storage Analyzer and when I try to click on the recoveries I copied to /Download it tells me that I don't have permission for that folder. Do I need to run some kind of FIX PERMISSIONS on this? Is there such a thing for the S3?
I found someone else talking about this same thing and looks like they solved it. here is the link:
