hey guys i was just browsing through stune trying to see what i could modify and i found this
look at the 7th line (COUNTMAX1=1300)
this file is located in registry in browser of stune. file name is pshsetmemorystatus.ini.
i am on xxjk1 and i tried to modify this setting. it got saved and i went through to the phone settings->memory->memory status->messages->txt messages and it flashed 1500(i changed the value to 1500) for a second then reverted back to default. can somebody please try this on different firmwares and also on original firmware or try and find why it is reverting to default value???
Anyone tried this ?
Any ideas as to why it might be reverting back ?
Anyways great job dude. I will try to raise its limit and then restore my 7000+ SMS and report back.
Thanks again !
Keep exploring
Edit:
Checked it. This file does not set memory. It only gives details about memory status that you see in Settings>Memory>xxx. So even if we set values here they will be reverted back to original. There is some other files which controls memory.
kk thanks for clearing the confusion. i will try to find the file.
btw i have checked every file in registry tab in stune. this is the only file i found regarding sms storage.
Also check System, User, etc. There is also another database of configuration files just like Registry folder only I have forgotten name and currently I don't have Ms.Windows here .
Good Luck !

Hi there,
Could anyone assist? I am trying to make a cab of personal settings to reset my registry settings to after a hard reset, but am having trouble with Permanent Save. I have contacts, appointments and tasks stored in the permanent area, and after I do a hard reset I can go into Permanent Save on the control panel, tick the boxes and all my contacts reappear and all is well.
However, if I take a snapshot of the registry before activating the tickboxes, and then afterwards and apply the differences, it overrights the existing data with nothing. The keys I have tried are
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\AdvancedCPL]
"CalendarPassCheck"=dword:00000001
"ContctPassCheck"=dword:00000001
"EnabledStateCalendar"=dword:00000001
"EnabledStateContact"=dword:00000001
"EnabledStateTask"=dword:00000001
"TASKPassCheck"=dword:00000001
It does work in ticking the boxes, but not in doing a restore - well only a restore to no data. Do I have to make some changes to any files as well?
Thanks!
Q.
Hello Q I'm in exactly the same boat, if you look at the \storage\persavebackup folder from you PC you'll see a bunch of files the saved info will look like TaskRecord.txt etc and yup they get overwriten with files of 0 value when I run my script and do a soft reset or add in new values.
I've tried copying files back into the persavebackup folder to see if they are then picked up but no joy - its very odd must be missing something.
I thought the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Pim\schedID might be something to do with it as an entry is put in here when there is data saved with perm save but didnt seem to make any difference when I changed this.
if I get anywhere I'll post back.
Why would you want to use the permanent save anyway?
I mean, hey, xBackUp is there, innit?
I have the new 1.33 Brightpoint ROM installed. I was wondering if there was any way to remove the ClearVue Office programs from my phone? I was just going to use the Windows Mobile Office cab that I found on this forum.
FSame here for the latest HTC rom.
Possible Solution
I found the files but don't have access to delete them.
Shorcuts located in \Windows are named : "ClearVue <and 1 of the 3 apps>".
If you check the properties you'll notice that the executable for these are located in \Windows\WTCVDocV.exe (that's the DOC one for example).
Then after doing this (you should make sure just in case), you can delete the files. Mine were:
wtcvdocv.exe
wtcvpres.exe
wtcvwsv.exe
You probably have to remove the folder that's in the start menu also.
Anyone know how to get around the permissions issue?
As these files are would be located in ROM there is not much you can do. ROM uses a different storage format from conventional files that is set up when the ROM is built, so deleting them isn't really an option - maybe there is some way to hide them though.. Probably the best thing to do is to forget about them
Now that I found this again, maybe this clears the question up a bit:

Thanks for the info!
I appreciate the info!
There has to be a way to get around this - Registry hack or some other kind of work-around. If anyone knows - Please be kind enough to share the knowledge
Is there any way for the SMS counter to go back to 0 when viewing several messages from one sender? Other wise I have to keep going back and opening for the counter to tick down.
On my 6800 I upgraded to the last DCD rom and it did the same. Only for that reason did I go back to his previous rom. This drives me nuts. The worst part is I recieved 15 angry texts from my ex wife. Who the heck wants to open that up 15 times for it to clear?
just go to the threaded messages & use the arrow keys to go select each & every one of them & it'll set the counter right. hope that makes sense.
I found a better fix. This adds "Mark all messages read"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379265
Is there still not a cab/real fix for this? I know that it is a problem with the version of WM that it shipped with but this is kind of ridiculous and Sprint/Whoever can't expect us to deal with this or install a cab that "makes it easier"
All other version of WM that i've ever used have never had this problem before and it is quite annoying if you stay in a text message for a while and then go out and have to click through 100 messages... Yes I've already installed the cab that adds "Mark all as read" but its still annoying.
Cheers

Download install that DLL into your windows and your all set. This is a well known issue with the DLL not letting go of the message properly. Fix thanks to Yay4juggs

Downloaded and copied over to /Windows folder.
Works great!
Thanks a bunch for linking the file and thank you to Yay4juggs for fixing this.
One less thing about the TP2 that is annoying... Damn you stock sprint manilla icons and inability to use the FM radio yet!
Cheers
htmlnote.dll
My TP2 says it cannot copy over the file.

try using total commander to copy over.
For those that backup on a regular using sprite etc u have to add "htmlnote.dll" & "HTMLNOTE.DLL" to the exclude list other wise the backup will fail.

I'm using Sprite Backup 6.5 and it works just fine without adding it to the exclusion list.
can someone please tell me what i need and what to do to install this!
I have this problem almost everytime I get a text. Its sooooo annoying!!
come on, all I need to do is install it. I copy it over to my tp2 and it doesn't show up. I installed total commander like someone said but all that did was let me see it. It has an error when I click on it.
You need to move the file and replace the old one, not try to open it. Try deleting the old one and then moving the new one in its place.
Delete the old what? And move it where? And once it's moved do I have to install something or does it just fix it by being there?
I'm not trying to be a jerk but if you read all the posts in this forum topic you would know what to do. I'll write out instructions for you however.
1. First, download this DLL
HTML NOTE DLL
2. Extract the file onto your desktop and then transfer it over to your phone via activesync, SD card, bluetooth, etc.
3. Wherever the file was copied to (be in in the root folder of the storage card or any other place, fire up Total Commander/Resco File Explorer and copy/move the "htmlnote.dll" over to /Windows folder. which is in the root folder of 'My Device'
*You will know that you are copying/moving it to the right location if you get a message stating that you would be overwriting the current file. If you do NOT get this message than you are either putting the modified "htmlnote.dll" in the wrong spot or your already deleted it from /Windows.
If you are still having further issues, please PM me and we will work this out.
Cheers
thank you, when I moved it over I didn't get a overwrite message but eversince I put that file in there I haven't had the problem. Slowly my phone is becoming more useable and less annoying
Thank you for the information, I have found this particular bug to be exceedingly annoying. I followed all the given instructions, but when i try to copy/move the file from my storage card, and get prompted to overwrite the existing file, Total Commander returns an error 'Cannot copy or move file!'
I had already tried this a few times, without any issue, and then soft reset my Sprint TP2. Since i still had the single unread sms bubble, i tried it again and got the error above.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance...
UPDATE:
I renamed the original to '000original' and was able to copy over the new .dll. However, after a soft reset, the problem still exists.
OK, found this thread and installed the cab. Worked like a charm...
Looks like i can't post links yet, so just search for FixUnreadCount.zip and that does the trick.
FINALLY
Thanks you for finding this .. ive spent the last week searching through files on my tp2 trying to find the right one .
When I save favorites in Copilot 8 I can see them as long as I don't close the application. When I restart it all the favorites (and also the recent targets) are gone again.
Did someone face this problem or could give me a hint how to solve this issue?
Thank you in advance.

I had this problem before, but I can't remember the exact file. Basically, there's a file that you need to enable read/write access by finding it in Windows Explorer and unchecking "read only" in the file's properties. That fixed it for me, but I can't remember what file it was.
Thank you for your reply. The folder supposed to be writeable (and acutally shown as writeable) is copilot/EU/europe/save as I found two files named favorite.lst and recents.lst in it.
These files are shown as writeable as well. Do I have to gain root to make the folder and/or the files writeable not only for the owner?
Called Copilot Support and got the answer that they are aware of this problem and there should be a newer version to hit the market within the next weeks to correct this.
Aditionally I was told that there has just been released a froyo compatible version, just to let you know.
Finally helped myself .
Within the copilot folder there is a file named user.cfg. The path to the save folder was not set.
So I closed two cases in one go: Moved the maps to the external sd card and set or changed the paths in the user config file.
Now everything is working as it should. Maybe this information can help other people to solve the problem more quickly then I did.
Can copilot be installed on an external sd card? (sdcard/sd)?
The program itself can't but as I said you can move the maps folder to the external sd card - you just have to physically move for example the EU (if you are in Europe like me) folder to the external sd card and then change the path in the user.cfg to this directory to the new path (there is more than one entry for this directory in the user.cfg).
Perfectly worked for me.
user.cfg
Hello Olympicchicken,
I think I have the same problem you had but when I came to verify first of all if I had the files favorite.lst and recents.lst, they were none.
I downloaded those two files from a Copilot Live package as saw on the internet but still nothing, I can save my favorites.
When opening the user.cfg, the path to save the favorites and recents are the right one:
[Data]

Do you have any ideal what could be causing this by any chances?
Thanks for you time!
Have a great week-end!
P.s.: I have Galaxy S with Android 2.1 and Copilot Live 8.2.0.218
As for me, I have the samsung galaxy S and I cant even save. I moved to external SD card and changed the user but it still dosnt work. I dont have a "favorite.lst" file, neither a "recent.lst" one. I reinstalled and I still dont get them.
Same here, I can't save my favorites after upgrading to 8.2.0.218. It seems that's a problem with canadian adress. Someone have found the newer version 8.2.0.368 ?
The Problem seems to be with Canadian Addresses, ( actually 1 did work for me ) but it was only for testing. US Addresses had no issue
Any fix?
This helped me sort but the save directory that resolved it was not the one in the copilot directory..
The offending line in the user config was
"LRSaveDir"="sdcard/copilot/<region>/<country>/save/
for me the line said "LRSaveDir"=2
I changed mine to reflect my phones directory structure..
"LRSaveDir"="sdcard/copilot/EU/UK/save/
**When I did that all resolved and even my previous saves came back.
So I am happy again.

I had the same problem. I had deleted some files on my SD Card and somehow something got corrupt(happened when switching between 3 different apps while driving).
I'm on the road at least 4 days a week and use co-pilot to route my gas buddy stops and save them as trips. All of the sudden it wouldn't save my recent data and all of my save files were not accessible even though the files were in the map save dir ("sdcard/copilot/NA/save/").
I decided to just wipe everything and re-install the app though.
See here for my solution on how to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136116
1. In eclair there were two size settings in the stock browser
- text size
- zoom
2. In froyo we lost the text size option in browser settings *but, if you upgraded with an official update.zip, whatever you had set for the text size was retained in froyo.
3. If you wipe and restore nandroid of /data to the a froyo rom, it restores your text size setting (even though it isn't available in the settings).
This leads me to believe the setting can still be changed/set in froyo. Has anyone dug into this at all, or is there other interest in it? I'm not sure where to begin to look for something like this but am willing to try.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've done some digging on my current rom and think there is a good possibility the setting has to do with the following file:
/data/data/com.android.browser/shared_prefs/WebViewSettings.xml
I'm trying to open this file from a nandroid backup I did a while ago which had the text size still toggled (because it was from a di18 stock update to froyo) but am having difficulty opening the file.
Can anyone shed some light on how to open a *.img file which was backed up by nandroid? E.g. I'm trying to get into data.img but 7-zip won't open/extract it, and I also tried mounting it as a disc image with MagicISO and it won't mount it.
Edit: Looks like I need to use the unyaffs utility, messing around with getting that to work now...
Edit2: I was able to get the files extracted of my old nandroid backup, pulled up the XML file I mentioned above and sure enough I found the following line:
"<string name="text_size">LARGER</string>"
This "text_size" was not listed in the XML file on my current system which was wiped and odin'd straight to Froyo. I suspect by inserting that line into my existing install will allow me to have the much desired (by me at least) larger text size in the browser and allow me to keep the zoom level at its default (medium).
The reason this matters to me, is when you increase the default zoom level all the images also zoom in which causes distortion in quality whereas the text size only increases the text size. This keeps images looking normal (100% zoom) while making text more readable at a distance. Will update again once I've tried updating my WebViewSettings.xml file and testing that the text does in fact increase.
Edit 3: I was successful in changing the Browser text size in Froyo by modding the XML file. I'm going to start a thread in DEV to share my findings and will post some screenshots there. My hope is that Chef's may want to include this hack in their ROM and possibly even write a script to allow end user toggling more easily. To me, being able to have a larger default text size at all zoom levels but keep images at their default zoom is a big improvement. Will post a link to the dev post once I get everything setup.
