[Q] CM7 Lock screen on Wildpuzzle - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

any way of getting the CM7 lock screen..i.e. with the messaging app slider and dialer slider..and if possible then dsp manager.... on wildpuzzle 0.8??
also i've lost the gallery app(HTC) by running the 'remove htc apps'... is there any way to get back only the gallery back???

Flash "remove htc lock screen fix" from the Htc hybrid rom topic by hewgballs and then you need to install widgetlocker, if I am not mistaking.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

If you know how to use ADB u can rename the HTCLockScreen.apk to .bak and use the overlay from cm6 (both froyo releases) also u can push the gallery.apk file from the original .zip file u install , open with winrar and find file should be in /system/apps/ and the push that to phone with ADB

"porting" lockscreens

I've searched through the forums but i can't find an answer that works.
I want to take a semi-transparent lockscreen from one hero rom and put it on another hero rom that doesn't have a transparent lockscreen
i've tried replacing com.htc.resources.apk and when the phone reboots i hear the notification sound that the USB is connected but all i see is the htc loading symbol. the home screen never loads.

totally going in the wrong way for that
the reason your getting a htc screen hang is bcuase the resources.apk your using prolly came from a different WWE build than the one your applying it to.... so go back to the one that came with your rom ... moving on to transparent lockscreen
what hero rom are you trying to modify and are you trying to mod the lockscreen grafics as well?
if your modding the graphics for the lockscreen bar unzip (using winrar) the apk (keep the original apk file) and inside one of the folders is one called draw port 480x280 the loscreen bar images are right there to edit
when your done editing
open the original resources.apk with winrar and navigate to that drawport480x280 folder
drag your modified images to the winrar window that is opened to the drawport480x280 when you modify the images keep the names that were originally corresponding with the images...so that the system can find them when it loads the lockscreen. and it will have a prompt click on ok and it will put those images back in your apk
now adb push your new resources.apk to your phone reboot to enjoy your modified lockscreen bar.
to change the image to transparent....(use photoshop to make a transparent .jpg image) get in root explorer on your phone and navigate to your /system/etc/lockscreen/port/ folder and the htc.lockcscreen1.jpg image is the one were gunna replace so name your custom image from photoshop the same thign that that htc.lockscreen1.jpg and then adb push (or root explorer copy) it to the /system/etc/lockscreen/port/ to replace original effects should apply immediatly then enjoy your fully modified lockscreen
i'm looking for original lock screen from android to replace hero's one cuz the time and date in original is bigger and backlight timeout is set to 5 sec ( in hero is 15- waste of battery). If you find a way how to do this - please let mi know cuz i've been trying and asking and nobody answered me...

Is there any way to install the stock android keyboard?

As above, I'm using htc desire by the way.
Anyone can help out on this?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I think what you're looking for is called LatinIME.apk.
You can either get it and extract it from a ROM that already has it - LeeDroid 1.8 (in sys/apps) for instance and use adb to push it to your device (or copy it to your sd card and use a file manager like Android Mate that you can download from the market and use the 'instal' tab) - or, search about and you might find someone has created a zip file that you can flash from recovery.
Does that mean there is no apk that I can install with?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I'd like this keyboard too! It's by far the best one I've used on my desire.
However. It seems to be very difficult to get it!
OK - here's how I did it...
* Download the attached apk file to the root of your SD card.
* Install the apk
I used 'Android Mate' to do this (available for free from the market). This is done by selecting the install tab across the top of Android Mate which will find the apk you just downloaded. Tap on it to install.
There are probably a heap of different ways to install the apk - I just find the Android Mate way the easiest - no need for commands etc. and the software is free.
* Restart your Desire.
* Go to email, select menu > compose and hold your finger down on the text input area. This will give you an option to select 'input method'. Choose Android Keyboard and off you go.
Does that mean that if i want to use the keyboard, I have to keep doing 'Go to email, select menu > compose and hold your finger down on the text input area. This will give you an option to select 'input method'. Choose Android Keyboard and off you go.' ?

Nup - do it once and it becomes the default.
You can always change it back to the HTC keyboard using the same method (tap and hold) if you want.
Hi there, I downloaded the apk that you have posted but can't install it. I think the apk that you have sent is faulty.
Yup, I could not install the apk that you have posted.

What message does it give?
Is your device rooted?
Do you have it set to load applications from unknown sources? (settings > applications> tick the unknown sources box)?
My device is not rooted. It says the file cannot be parsed.
Yup.. still cannot...

[Q] Prophecy ROM: deleted android clock

ok, so I'm retarded...
I'm runnin' Prophecy 4.4, and the HC Dreams theme. I noticed the lockscreen was HTC style and not Vanilla with the HC Dreams theme, so since I prefer the HTC Clock over the Android clock (love the timer and stopwatch) I deleted the Androidclock.apk. When trying to install the HTCclock.apk, I get the error: application not installed. I tried changing permissions to no avail, and now it seems I'm screwed. I'd LOVE it if someone could tell me how to get the HTC clock installed, but if there is no way, and someone can pull the androidclock.apk for me, or has it lyin' around, I'd appreciate that as well.
Thanks for takin' the time to look!

Try Pushing THIS & THIS into your /system/app folder via adb. Or use rootexplorer to copy them there. Also if you want your androidclock.apk back instead of the htc i posted then open your prophecy rom.zip file and goto system/app/ folder and find the androidclock.apk and extract it and install.
Thank you SOOO much for your help! Unfortunately, I settle same "application not installed" error. Gonna have to install Android's clock from the ROM as you suggested. I'm still curious, though... want to figure out what's keeping system apk from installing.
THANKS AGAIN! I REALLY appreciate the attempt!
Update: Gonna have to reflash and start from scratch. Can't install the Android clock apk either...

Lol. Could have posted in my thread or PM'd me, bro. I could have helped you as soon as I got the notification.
Something you should know about how my rom works...
The HtcClockWidget.apk is modified to open the AOSP DeskClock.apk instead of the WorldClock.apk that is no longer there. The AOSP DeskClock.apk is used because without having the HTC Lockscreen, the alarms won't work right. You won't be able to turn them off. Because I use JsChiSurf's Vanilla LockScreen Mod, I have to use the AOSP DeskClock. If you want to basically use the HTC DeskClock, you need to push the 3 attached APKs to /system/app. You'll no longer be able to use the Vanilla Locks until you remove the HtcLockScreen, put the AOSP DeskClock and the modified HtcClockWidget back.
To do this...
1. Download the 3 attached APK files...
2. Open up CMD and point it to where the APK files have been downloaded. ADB should work in whatever directory you're in because of it being in your %PATH% environment variable
3. Type: adb remount
4. Type: adb push WorldClock.apk /system/app
5. Type: adb push HtcClockWidget.apk /system/app
6. Type: adb push HtcLockscreen.apk /system/app
7. Type: adb shell
8. Type: cd system/app
9. Type: rm DeskClock.apk
10. Type: reboot
Hi there, i tried pushing the 3 apk´s but when i run the clock app it force closes( with error msg "The application clock (process com.htc.android.worldclock)has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again ) : ( any idea?

Try fixing permissions. In Amon Ra, you can "fix apk uid mismatches". You can also fix permissions through Rom Manager.
And just to clear something up...
When you copy the apks to /system/app using Root Explorer, you don't then click on them to install - they won't install through the normal installer regardless of where they are. Just move them, then long-press and choose "permissions" from the menu. Change the permissions to rw-r--r--. To elaborate, the first line should have read and write checked and the last two lines should have only read checked. Then reboot and the apps will be installed.
I'm just letting you know for future reference, but using adb is a great learning experience. I just wanted to clear up why it didn't work.

[Q] Reinstall HTC Sense stock apps

Hello,
I've removed the Gallery app (com.htc.album.apk) using the Titanium backup 'cause I wanted to replace it with another one. I do have the backup, but when I do a restore it just does the circle with restore in progress forever. Is there a way to restore the Gallery?
The only reason why I want to restore is that when I use the HTC Sense apps which cooperate with Gallery (for example the Camera), when I want to see the photos the apps crash - I thought it would be possible to choose another app like QuickPic for this photo browsing, but apparently not. Therefore I would be very grateful if somebody knows how to restore the app.
The phone has s-off and is rooted.
Thank you very much.
SOLUTION
OK, I've found a way how to do it, so just want to share with others, in case anybody gets into the same kinda trouble as I did ;-)
The steps:
1. Download the zipped RUU of the stock ROM and extract the APK and ODEX files of the app you want to restore (HTCAlbum.apk and HTCAlbum.odex in my case)
2. Using Root Explorer (or some other tool that can write into /system/app) copy the apk and odex files into it.
3. Again using the same tool set the permissions of the 2 files to rw-r--r-- and set the owner and group to 0 - root (both user and group)
4. What I did now was try to Install the apk in the /system/app, but it failed, so probably this step is not needed - just put it here in order to reproduce exactly all steps.
5. Reboot the phone -> after the reboot the app should appear in the app drawer and all HTC stock apps now work with using the Gallery.
Please if you try this method, write down your comment, whether you succeeded or not.
Cheers and good luck...
Didn't work for me. Tried apk and odex gallery from newest ruu.
I also accidentally removed the Gallery (com.htc.album.apk), and I've found a way out to do it.
First to do :
> Install the latest Java JDK.
> Install HTC Sync & drivers.
> Install the Android SDK.
> Open SDK Manager after installing the Android SDK successfully.
> Install every 'Available Packages' in SDK Manager.
> Edit 'Path' in Environmental Variables and put this behind the line
Code:
;C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
> Enable USB Debugging on your HTC.
And after all this above..
1 -Connect your Wildfire to the PC.
2 -Reboot into CWM Recovery.
3 -Go to Mounts and Storage.
4 -Select Mount /system.
Then use adb :
Oh and make sure the HTCAlbum.apk is in the same map as adb.exe
Code:
adb push HTCAlbum.apk /system/app
-MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS S-OFF- Otherwise it won't work.

This doesn't need S-OFF. Just a Custom Recovery like Clockworkmod.

[Q] Does anyone have the Sense 2.1 lock screen apk?

I have rooted my phone and I deleted the sense 2.1 lockscreen. But I do not like the old froyo android lockscreen. I was wondering if anyone have a apk file for the sense 2.1 lock screen on the Wildfire S? Thank you
is that the stock style with the slide down bar, or the ring style??

It's the slide down bar (stock style). So I have 2 options-
1. Find the Wildfire S stock rom ( I can't find it)
2. Get my lockscreen.apk back
if someone could please upload the sense 2.1 lockscreen, i'm also interested, and if i install it, would it perform as the sense 3.0 lockscreen, showing missed calls and messages although it will be installed on the 2.13.201.2 stock ?
no one, it's really important
Sense 2.1 Lockscreen
Here are the files you will need to place in /system/app.
Make sure you push both of the files.

Thank you very much. But when i try to install it, all is says is application not installed. And on my sd card i deleted my systems folder a while ago.
Not possible, I made flashable zips using the cdma version.
EDIT: euro version also not working on GB 2.3.5.
What I know is the sense 3 lockscreen still contains 2.1 images and stuff, so probably it's just changing a value in an xml file to get back sense 2.1 lockscreen.

Instructions.
You will need to have ADB installed on your computer.
If you don't already, look for a guide. I recommend you install it like this. "C:/Android"
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled.
Extract the files I provided into the folder with ADB in it.
Start ADB using the path you used to install it.
Use this code.
Code:
adb remount
adb push HtcLockScreen.apk /system/app/HtcLockscreen.apk
adb push HtcLockScreen.odex /system/app/HtcLockScreen.odex
adb reboot
It should work now.
Wait for guide from benjamin, he ported it for gb 2.3.5

Wouldn't copying both the .apk and .odex from that zip provided for Dolphin to system/app suffice? Rather than trying to install the apk as what it appears you are trying to do.
