Guys. I learned the hard way. I bought the black silicon (gel) case from t-mobile the first day I got the phone, and i have been using it ever since. It isn't listed on the t-mobile website anymore, so who knows if this issue is widespread and they pulled it. But it basically scratched up the bottom front of the phone where it covers up the black area to the very left and right of the trackpad button. I'm assuming it's probably not the case itself that caused this; rather, dirt or something else slightly abbrasive got in there and slowly rubbed up the nice mirror finish on the phone. It looks like I'll have to keep this case now because it covers up the area that it scratched up. My wife has the pink gel skin. It's a slightly more rigid material, and her phone does not show the same scratching on the bottom edges. So word to the wise, avoid these silicone skins unless you are able to keep any sort of pocket lint or dust out of there. I can't get the scratches out no matter what. Any advice? Has anyone else noticed this issue? It totally sucks, but there's no way I'm going to exchange my phone and possibly get a crappy screen

I had that case for a while b4 getting tpu case. It never scratched my phone like urs did. Only thing I hate about it is how much it attracts lint

Yup, the exact same thing happened on my phone. Not quite as bad as yours, but the same case and same issue. Sucks... My new tpu case is the bomb though!

i have a tpu case and it scratched the crap out of the chrome bezel...
I'm still pretty upset with all of this. I can't imagine how this lower part of the front of the phone got scratched up so badly. Isn't this part glass like the screen? I guess it's little pieces of sand/dust that rubbed up against the phone and the silicone. But my wife's silicone case hasn't done this to her phone (at least not yet). Since I think that the glossy finish on that area must be plastic, do you all think some plastic polish (e.g. clear x) might get rid of the scratching? I don't want to get a new case now as the silicone case that ruined my phone also hides the larger area at the bottom that it ruined
Yeah, I don't think it would make it worse. Give it a shot!

Anyone else wan to weigh in on this?
Ive had mine on since release date, and i dont have one single scratch.
but then again i tend to remove it once every 1-2 weeks and remove all dust particles that get trapped in there.
only problem i have with mine is its getting too loose...
Good to know. The MT4G is a lot snugger in any case than my older mt3g. The advice about cleaning it occasionally is a good tip.
It;s the dust and other crap that gets in between your case and phone that scratches the phone becuase its so snug tight. I have a TPU case but I take it out once every couple days to get the dust and other stuff in there that can scratch it up.
So IMO cases that are really tight fit on the phone needs to be taken out once in a while to be cleaned. Been using a case ever since I got mine 3 months ago and it's been scratch free.
Sorry to hear that it scratched ur phone tho =/
Must be dust like others have said. I have the exact same case, no scratches.
I imagine it was dust, but it does seem odd that that it happened on both edges evenly. I probably had the phone in the case for 2 months before cleaning it out. But the weird thing is I didn't see any debri in there. I'm getting a few tpu cases to try out now because they don't cover the bottom of the phone as much = less surface area to destroy.
I have this case and so far it hasn't left any scratches around the edges.
Happened to me too. I noticed it but never thought to attribute it to the case but that is definetly what caused it. Its not quite as annoying as my creaky white casing on the back of my phone though.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I have the same case, and no scratches. The problem is, as others have said, dust getting trapped between the case and the phone's "chin."
Just keep the case clean and you shouldn't have this problem.
Edit: I really wish this case was textured like the blue, green and purple ones. Unfortunately, they were so loud-colored I didn't want them, but the soft-touch black case attracts too much lint.

Totally agree about the lack of a texture on the black case. My wife has the purple silicone case, and that one has a much better feel/grip to it than the plain black matte silicone case that ruined my phone. I ended up switching (for now) to the tpu fusion case off of ebay. It's less bulky and a much tighter fit on the phone. Only time will tell if it scratches up my phone as well. I like this case much more (minus the tough to push power button) because it's smooth, thin, and doesn't attract dust or stick in my pocket like the silicone cases. Dock connector is covered. Not sure if that's going to matter in the long run. But hey, the thing is only $5.00 shipped. Who can complain?
Are you guys talking about the cases that are like clear but with colors on the edges of the case? I just picked up a myTouch4G and need to get a case on this brand new white phone.
I got this very same case when I bought my phone back in December but still haven't had any scuffs/scratches on it, front or back. But as someone else previously said it does attract a fair amount of lint
Had the exact case on my phone since December. Have not had a single scratch from that case.
I used OEM purple gel case and yes it did scratch my phone in the same area as shown in post #1 photos but just not as bad and noticeable. I would even remove the case every night and clean it out and put it back on. At first, I thought it was just glue cloudy marks but nope, scratch. Now, I have Zaggs invisible shield full body maximum coverage on my phone. I do have a clear TPU case also and I like that better than the OEM gel case.

UPDATE: hey guys updated my post with better pictures (with the realook screen protector on) I've dropped my phone once from my pocket (about 3 ft) to the pavement and it didnt have one single bump or scratch on it! everything still looked new and even the gel case!
Hey guys I just purchased the black T-Mobile gel skin for $10 (discount from friend) which originally sells for $16.99 and I am loving it! I've had so many smartphones in the past and would always use a hard shell case because I hated the gel skin so much! My friend used a gel skin on her mytouch and after a couple of weeks it became so loose it would slip right out. The material was very thin and it stretched out not fitting the phone anymore. This particular gel skin is really thick and durable! It feels great holding it and has a good grip.

this is how much space there is when you slide in the phone to the top. this for sure shows that it is a good firm fit and will never fall out or get loose at all.
There are no cut outs for the power button and volume rocker because the skin has its own buttons for those and they actually feel better than the phones! its easier shutting off your screen and adjusting the volume.
as for the realook screen protector it is reallllly nice. wasnt too hard to put on and plus if you do mess up you can wash it and reapply again. screen still looks the same with it on and my gf didnt even notice it haha she thought i was lying! anyways i love this combo that i have right now and wont have to buy any accessories for a really long time.
Back to the Future FTW!
I think that's because (maybe) Samsung makes these? They look awfully similar in design to the other cases they have the Samsung Store.
I'm getting this one tomorrow as I wait for my mesh case.

It's a T-Mobile branded case, but I'm not sure if Samsung designed the cases for them? i could be wrong.
the gel cases from the Samsung website has a bigger cut out for the speaker than T-Mobile's version.
yep, i have it. we have very few options for cases right now, so i went with this. I like it for a gel case, but when a few more come out i may switch to a harder case. we will see, but for now its good

I'll see how well this goes for now and will probably get a hard shell case too only if this stretches out more in the future, but I'm happy with what i got.
I had the case when it came out and I think the quality of the case and protection is awesome BUT the Gel material picks up dust very easily. There are other Gel type cases that do not do this so if it's not a problem for you then this is an excellent case for you.
This is what I am stuck with for now. Six Tmo stores have been out of stock on the black gel case since the 19th, yesterday they all got 3 teal ones in stock so I bit the bullet and bought it because I need it. When the black ones come in I will exchange for it. Overall I love the feel of it and for some reason it makes the screen look bigger. Also ever time I look now it reminds me an iphone 3gs. I just hope they will make a make case or something that will hold it on my belt.

I am looking for a gel, silicone or plastic(not hard plastic) case that does not collect dust and will slip in a holster. Anyone know of a good one?
I also have the black gel case. LOVE it!!! dont see any reason to change it.
I want the teal one!
So does anybody know why these aren't available on the t-mobile website? Is it simply a supply problem? I find it crazy that this phone has been out for a couple of weeks now and still not a single case available via the internet from a domestic supplier. No T-mobile store in my town, so am I just up a creek?
I love the black gel case that I bought on day 1. The only semi-negative is the dust collection issue and (for us girls) makeup rubs off on it too. Other then that, it is great, appears to protect the phone from drops (sorry to say has happened to me already) and it gives it a nice grip on my dash when I need to set it up there for navigation use.
Does the gel cling to your clothing when you put it in or take it out of your pocket?
Yes it does. It attracts lots of dust. Its an awsome case but I might wait to get mine from ebay I ordered and return this one.
That looks like a silicone case... Not gel. Can someone confirm?

Do they make gel cases that don't stick to clothing? I like the bare phone for its ability to easily slide in and out of the pocket, and I dislike hard cases because they're too bulky.
only if they had one that didnt collect dust...

Yes, and it's actually quite annoying.
That said, it's probably the best soft case I've ever used (though, it doesn't protect the screen for ****). The only thing I think I would've preferred is a an N1-style pouch.
When pulling it out of pocket, it almost always turns it inside-out. It grabs onto lint and dust like a rubber glove. One benefit, however, is that it doesn't slide around when resting on a surface.
I would trade this thing in for a super durable hard case in a second. If they ever release a hard case with a screen protector as well, I'd be all over it.
Household tips from mom (beta)
If it's too sticky, try putting some sort of oil on it and rubbing it off. Probably not olive oil, it's a little acidic, but corn or canola oil might do OK with a lot of wiping. (Don't use your clothes, you'll leave a grease stain, and regular paper towels won't help the lint problem, for sure.)
If it doesn't work, it's mostly silicone it'll wash off with some soapy water (yeah, take the phone out of the case before you do anything).
I haven't found one of these cases yet, but oil took the stick right out of my dashboard sticky pad. Theoretically it should work.
I just ordered this one:
http://www.igonemobile.com/product|p|26714.html
I'll report back on my thoughts when I get it.
Before ordering this, I went to the T-mobile store and tried out all the cases they had in stock. The dual-layer grey/white system looked cool and seemed like it would offer decent protection, but the process of getting it in/out of that thing rubbery sleeve and getting that into the other piece seemed awkward (getting it all to line up, etc.), and I'm concerned about the protection offered to the bezel (just barely covered, and at some spots near the top did not).
The gel one seemed like a good alternative. Easy to get in/out and good protection/coverage all around (although no hard plastic protection). However, it began picking up lint from my pocket right away, and seemed a little bulky.
The snap-on hard plastic one seemed to offer good protection all around, seemed not too bulky, and felt fairly good going in/out of the pocket. However, they only had pink and grey. It also wasn't easy to get the phone out of this one b/c of how tight the snaps were (which may be a good thing if you drop the phone, since you don't want the case breaking apart and exposing the phone).
Thus, I decided to check for a black snap-on style, and found the one above.
great. I've had concerns with the lack of covers offered for this phone and this seems like a welcomed addition. Could you report back on how it feels once you get it? Protection level, to your perception and so on?
There are a few snap on style covers on ebay. Clear, girly designs, black, etc. I cant post links but the user is pawavenue.
Wierd I just ordered the same case yesterday.... But it should be here soon ill let yall know whatsup with it.

Looks like a decent product! And the price is great!
Keep us informed...
Never had luck with snap on covers. My blackjack 2, blackberry pearl and G1 all wound up getting small scratches from these things, especially around the edges of them. Only covers I use now have to be gel style.
I received the case today. The feel is okay...I'd describe it more like a matte plastic finish than rubberized (not as nice feeling as the texture on the side of the actual phone). It has all the cutouts in the correct spots, including the docking pins. The phone seems to fit nice and snug inside, but as someone else pointed out about this case, it does not snap together very well at the top. In between the power button and headphone jack, the two sides come together but there's no snap there. Also, the top left corner (near the power button) does have a snap, but it doesn't stay snapped closed at this spot...so it's spread open a little there, although this doesn't seem to result in the case feeling loose/flimsy at that spot.. The rest of the snaps seem snug, and I had to give some decent pressure to get them unsnapped to take the case off. I'm not sure how well the case would stay put together in the event of a drop onto concrete or something. I do like the fact that the case covers the bezel. Overall, I think it looks and feels good, is relatively non-bulky, offers decent protection from scratches and mild-moderate abuse. On the downside, I wish the snap at the top left stayed together, and I'm not sure how the case would react in the event of a significant drop onto a hard surface (wish I could test, but ehhh, that's maybe carrying this review a bit too far).
I think I'll leave this case on my phone for now. But today I also ordered the silicone case from Amazon by Luxmo (as mentioned in another thread here) just to check out another option (and it was actually <$4 shipped). I'll report on what I think of that one too in case anyone is interested.
Oh, and I can't comment on the screen protector referenced in the "Nice case... Bad news." thread, because I'm pretty sure I didn't get one in the little package included with this case (just double checked the trash).
Hey do you have a pic of what the phone actually looks like with the case on? I would really appreciate it. I like how the case covers the mytouch logo. Thanks.
I have that case in red and I have problems to slide down the notification bar because the case is too close to the glass border. I have the same quality issue that it doesn't snap everywhere together. That's my third case now and I think I go bare from now on.

Here is a shot of the snap-on cover. You can kind of see a bit of separation on the top left of the case as I described. In case you can't tell, the case does cover the T-mobile logo almost completely...there's just a very tiny bit of the top of the words "my touch" visible from a direct view (really tiny - just 2 little spots you'd probably not notice unless looking for it).
I guess the pic is kind of big, but I think it shows what you're wondering about.
Also regarding mgymnop's comment, I too noticed that the case caused problems trying to pull down the notification window. I did have to adjust by using the very tip of my finger, but then loaded launcher pro and assigned opening notifications as a swipe gesture on the dock (and also noticed you could hit the menu key, then select notifications that way too). The case similarly made it a bit more difficult to drag icons from one home screen to the next since it's tougher to get your finger all the way to the edge of the screen.
Oh, and I did drop my phone from a sitting position onto a wooden floor the other day with this case on it. The case completely unsnapped after hitting the ground, and the phone ended up lying on it's own between the two pieces. There was no damage to the phone, as I think the case kept the phone protected upon the initial impact, breaking the fall. But I could imagine the phone getting scratched or dinged up after breaking free of the case and sliding/bouncing across more unforgiving terrain.
Regarding my previous: "But today I also ordered the silicone case from Amazon by Luxmo (as mentioned in another thread here) just to check out another option (and it was actually <$4 shipped). I'll report on what I think of that one too in case anyone is interested."
I started using the gel case a few days ago. I think it's a pretty good case. I like that you can get the phone easily in and out of it, and that the case does a good job of wrapping around the front far enough to fully protect the silver bezel. I noticed right away that it starts picking up lint, but after a few days it really doesn't seem that bad (lint doesn't stick around and build up, and I don't seem to have to do any work at all to keep the case looking relatively clean). The only problem I've had with it, is that once in a while the case pushes the sides and/or corners of my reallook screen protector up a bit and I have to push it back flat. Maybe it does this because my protector is very slightly off to one side, but it's near as perfect as I could get it applied. It doesn't happen too often, and so far the screen protector goes back into position just fine without any dust underneath. Over time, I'm not sure if it will continue to do this and if it will cause a problem with dust under the edge of the screen protector. I haven't had the opportunity to test this in a drop situation, but I'll report back if/when I do.

God I hate using a case with this phone. Its so thin, yet hearty. And looks so damn good naked.
Has anyone found a case that barely impedes on the thickness of the device yet still provides adequate protection? I use the OEM gel skin and it's great protection but I'll be damned if it doesn't thicken my phone up like a sunuvabitch. Makes it feel like my old t-mo Wing!!!!

let me start by saying...i HATE cell phone cases...ive had all kinds of phones from nextels to moto pebbles to the mytouch 4g and never once NEVER have i bought a case for one
so knowing that...i bought one of the tpu fusion cases...let me tell you something...i couldnt be happier with this case...very thin...very light...lots of good grip and feel to the case and it fits the phone like a glove
now i dont have a whole helluva lot experience with cases especially for this phone...but this tpu fusion case has to be hands down the best just based on what ive read and seen about the other cases for this phone
so i recommend you spend the 5$ it costs for the tpu fusion case and just order one

BTW im not any type of sales person or anything for the cases or the people who sell em....just love this case a lot
That's what I keep hearing. Thanks for the insight, and the link. I can't believe the TPU cases are so damn cheap...

as for cheap...yes they are very cheap and i couldnt believe it either...but quality doesnt seem to be lacking even at that price
I LOVE the way the MT4G looks and feels without a case. However, I've dropped my phone 3 times in the past month. Each time was indoors on carpet or hardwood, but still it was enough to keep me using my Epik cases.
I just wish the cases were just a little thinner. I'd risk less impact protection for a slimmer profile.
I bought the sleeve that came with the Nexus One off of eBay for $5. A little snug at first but after a few days fits perfect.
I like it because you get the naked feel of the phone but it's protection in your pocket. It also cleans the fingerprints off for you I've been using it for 3 months and my phone looks brand new.
Plus it's stylish with the little Android logo on it.
Have you tried a skin? I know it's not the same as a hard case, offers less impact protection, but it adequately protects the phone from cosmetic scratches and blemishes, and I do believe it helps with your typical cell-phone drop (i.e. I think it helps protect the phone when dropped a few feet, but anything hgher than 5 or 6 feet and it won't make much of a difference). But with any case, if a phone takes a long fall it's gone, and I don't plan on tossing it off the side of a roof. I've been using Best Skins Ever for about a month and am REALLY pleased. Like you, I'm not fond of big bulky cases - I like the natural look of the phone, and these skins allow me to protect it while not impeding on the size or look of the phone AT ALL. BSE is all I've tried but there are many different kinds - a lot of people complain of orange peel/grip issues, but I am totally happy with the BSE, and I'm picky about texture.
On a note, i don't understand why people put a super thick case on a thin phone, like a otterbox defender case on a iPhone 4.... totally defeats the purpose of a thin phone and looks dorky...

Slip case for MT4G
I do exactly what Joey above does-use an OEM Nexus One case. Protects the phone and you get the nice feel of its shape and texture when you unzi-- I mean, take it out.
But I turn the N1 case inside out because I hate the feel of the regular fabric.
FWIW my phone got a lot creakier after I put on a TPU case. I developed a creak by the camera button after using it naked for a few weeks. I than got a TPU case from ebay, and now if I remove the case, the whole top creaks when naked.
Maybe it would have happened anyways, but I thought i'd throw it out there.

since i just scratched my chrome bezel after owning it for a couple months im going to get the case. ugh why did i wait
I'm aganist cases, just because it hides the beauty of a device and the thiness. But I just got a solid black glossy TPU case and it looks awesome, I got it off ebay and don't think the seller has anymore of them. But my phone is white and I hate it, I kick myself for getting the white one, actually had no choice, when I traded my G2 off cragislist.
But with this case, I don't see any white, except around the charger port, and **** looks sick. And I'm the type of person that can't stand any scratches on their phone, I need it to look perfect and brand new. Never say you won't drop the phone and get a nasty scratch on it.
I would prefer not having a case, but my biggest concern is getting dust under the LCD. My e-71 was a very solid phone, and it eventually started getting dust under the screen. I hope to have the mt4g for a while and I'm trying to avoid any dust issues.

Curious how a case would prevent dust from getting under the LCD? Where does the dust enter?
Wow, they got here fast via regular mail! Look and feel is great. The black is solid black, not transparent at all, which is good for me. The purple I got for my wife is indeed just as seen on the website.
Buttons have a good, positive feel, not hard to press at all. Texture on the sides is nice and provides good grip. Best of all, makes the phone feel like the lean mean machine it is, unlike the T-Mobile skins they replaced.
Here are some pics of it on my phone:

To be honest, I'm not sure. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the dust somehow gets pushed into the phone's cracks from pressure/friction of just pulling in in/out of pockets. Adhesives/seals never stay perfect, and it's just a matter of time. This has always been an issue with Phones/PDAs.
A case is basically another layer of protection. Also, since the phone is thicker pocket lint is now rubbing against the case, not directly rubbed into the phone's edges/cracks.
That's the theory anyway. My phone just fell off my bed and hit a table.
It was comforting to hear a rubbery impact versus a metal/wood whack.

Got my SGP/SPigen Ultra Nano Clear install on Friday.
I'm generally very good at dry protector installs. I've done it many times and know all of the tricks.
I have a couple of issues with this product.
First, it's so thin that's it's very hard to take off the top and bottom protective screens. I was able to get it done, but I bent the plastic a tiny bit down by the home button and it sticks up a little bit there. That's really a non-issue and isn't real noticeable.
Next, and more of a pressing issue, is that the protector scratches VERY easily. I keep it in my pocket (a pretty clean pocket) and there are already a bunch of scratches on the protector. With the screen on bright, you can't really tell, but with it off, they are pretty clear.
If I have that many scratches in a 3 days, it'll probably be near unusable in a month.
I generally don't like screen protectors on gorilla glass, but I know the glass can scratch. But it's kind of silly to have something over the top of it that's already scratched up. Might as well just take a chance on the gorilla glass not scratching then.
Anyone else notice that these scratch very easily?
Have had it on almost 2 weeks now and no scratches at all. I would maybe try another one since you do get 3.
mine has some but not noticable at all unless u are looking for them. ive had mine one for about 2 weeks with a case.
I've had mine on for 5 days.. I usually find these things a complete pain to install, but this one went on first try. Mine has no scratches whatsoever, crystal clear and covers enough of the glass in my opinion. I agree it was a little bit difficult to separate the protective back layer when installing, but if you just pull it from the two tabs (top and bottom protector tabs), it will come off.
As I said, it's not overly noticeable, but with the screen off, you can easily tell there's quite a bit of scratching.
I purchased this via ebay (authorized reseller). They just wrote back and gave me a very fair offer. If I pay the $2 difference, they'll ship me out the ultra crystal product.
I took them up on their offer.

Ultra Crystal? You sure that's what they offered? That product was discontinued a few weeks ago because it peels up at the edge. It was replaced by the Ultra Nano, and the soon to be released Curve Crystal (the true successor)

Good point. Their email is a bit confusing, but I think they did mean the curve crystal.
keep us updated but im loving my nano so far.
Thanks for the review! I don't have the screen protector but I've been reading a lot of posts/reviews and it seems that the issues you mentioned regarding the tricky installation and frequent scratches are rather common. At the same time, users appear to be divided on the product...
In any case, hope things work out with the seller :fingers-crossed:
I have this screen protector and love it. It's very thin and easy to install. I can't even tell it's there. It doesn't peel up on the edges and works well with the cases that I have tried. I have had it for 2 weeks with no scratches. I don't put my phone in my pocket though.

You definitely can't tell it's there, it doesn't pull up, it feels like your finger is on glass and the fact that it didn't go all the way to the edges is minimally bothersome.
Install is tough and scratches are the deal breaker for me.
Will update if they do or don't honor their offer.
had a really easy time with this one. no lint at all underneath, looks barely visible, so far so good. just bought neo hybrid. with kyanROM this phone is just the best.

I love this screen protector. Came with my sgp ultra thin case (which I also love)
Thin, perfect cutouts, absolutely no orange peel, no distortion..
It does feel grippy AT FIRST. Use it for a bit and it feels like glass again
Very happy with mine. I haven't installed a cover in a couple years and I got the first one on fine and it is only visible if you look around the edge. With a Diztronic case, there is barely any exposed surface in the front. It was a bit tacky at first, but it quickly went away after using it.
I was going to buy the new full screen version, but I think this one might be better for future cases I might get.
i am not happy with this product, got it cause it sounded good and looked good but it doesnt last. i received/installed on 7/24/12 and not long after having it on my phone i started noticing small scratches from the few coins i would have in my pocket, then over the weekend i had it in the pocket of my cargo shorts with my pocket knife clipped on there aswell i pulled my phone out to mess with it and the protector was scratched to holy heck and starting to come loose around the home button, i carried my DX like this during the time i had it with no problems using a Zagg. if this is how "good" their product is i wouldnt buy anything else from them.

Packaging:
Nothing special, plastic box shipped inside a plastic bagvelope (bag/envelope) The box it comes in is much easier to open from the bottom than the top, learn from my mistake. No fancy packaging here, the case slides around inside the box a bit. Nothing inside the box but the case...no screen protector, no cleaning cloth, no fancy color brochure showing other products the company makes, nothing. In my opinion, $30 is a steep price to pay for a case so to see the case flopping around in it's box and no extras at all included with the case was kind of a let down.
Fit and finish:
When I first grabbed the case out of the box my very first thought was "oh boy, feels kinda slippery." I got the Garnet Red version, planned on getting the limited edition Gloss White when it becomes available...more on that later. The case is lined with a black felt material on the inside part of the back wall to protect the battery cover from getting scratched during installation/removal, might even add a little shock protection as well. Sliding the case on to the phone one thing I noticed is that the front edges do infact put a little pressure on the sides of the face of the phone, this is notable because those of you who have a wet application screen protector or other full face protection like the Moshi iVisor or any one of the curved full face protectors may have a little problem getting this care to play nicely with it. I think a wet application would be fine so long as it's fully cured before you go putting this case on and as long as you are careful when installing it...making sure it's not pulling up the protector as you go. The case slides on and locks in place to itself thanks to a little tab built in on it's inner wall on the back. Getting it off can be tricky, especially if you have an aftermarket, non-stock battery cover on like I found out. I highly advise not using the case with anything other than the stock battery cover. I had my white carbon fiber cover on which seemingly added no extra bulk but apparently the tiny little bit it did add made it next to impossible to remove the case. I ended up using brute strength to get it apart and luckily avoided causing any damage to it or it's locking mechanism. Putting the stock battery cover on made things much easier. Helpful hint, when trying to remove it, press down on the raised part in the back when squeezing the top part of the case on the sides.
With the case installed I noticed that the fit was so snug that there was no daylight at all between the face of the phone and the edge of the case, a good thing. The cutouts are all spot on but the bottom mic opening wasn't quite centered. There are no overlays over the buttons so they are easily accessible and engaged. Those openings are beveled/tapered to allow unobstructed access to the buttons...no need to tactically attempt to press the buttons, you just press them as you would normally as the case does not get in the way. The color I chose, Garnet Red, has a metallic sheen to it and is very easy on the eyes however it lacks grip. Holding the phone, it's not as bulky as I thought it would be, but it's not as easy to hold on to either. The finish is very slippery so make sure you have a firm grip on it. This is the first case I've had on this phone that requires you to stick your pinky out while you're holding the phone to ensure it doesn't slide down. Very disappointed. The design of the case does provide a front side lip, allowing you to set the phone face down with no worry of causing damage to the screen.
Final thought:
While the case looks nice, fits like a glove and allows easy access to all ports and buttons, it is very slippery to hold and can be a problem depending on what type of screen protector you're using. The locking mechanism is a nice touch but be aware if using an aftermarket, non-stock battery cover as it can make the case nearly impossible to remove. Am I going to order the limited edition Gloss White when it comes out? It'll surely have better grip but i'm not that in love with this case to say for sure.
I have the Seidio surface in blue and I do not find the case to be slippery it has a lot more grip than the stock battery door. The finish is a soft touch finish that does not show fingerprints.
Here are some photos and I have a full review up to.
from my AOKP galaxy s3
Grip is not a strong point of this case by any stretch of the imagination. It's coming off as soon as my TPU bumper arrives. The finish on this case is pretty much identical to that on the Incipio Silicrylic Dual Pro, the difference being the silicone sleeve which gives you the good grip. I like everything about this case except for the lack of grip and how it limits what screen protectors you can use with it.

Just trying to find "the one". The SGP Neo Hybrid is on my radar. Not really sure there's any others I really want to try out right now.
I have the platinum series which is pretty much this case with the holster. I have had it for my past three phones but am on the by bubble with this one. I have to agree that this case is more slippery then I remember my past cases to be. Because of that (and the fact that I dropped my OG Evo with his case on and the Efren shattered ) I am looking for another case. Thinking of getting an otterbox. Need something with good screen protection and a holster.
Does nfc work?

Yes sir
Alright guys, today was my first day out in the wild with this case and I have discovered something......moist hands = good grip with this case! Normally my hands are dry, no sweaty palms for me....but its pretty warm out today and I wear nitrile gloves alot during the day which cause my hands to sweat badly. So after removing my gloves and patting them dry I picked up my phone to take a few pics and I noticed it wasnt sliding in my hand. Figuring it was the moist hand I was holding it with I turned on the AC to dry my hand completely and sure enough, the slipperyness was back.
So those of you with sweaty palms, this is your case!
