[Q] WiMAX/4G MAC Address and Key Mod

Ok. I live in a area where Sprint's 4G isn't present at all. However, a company that provides internet through WiMAX to us people out in BFE, who can't get landline internet, are able to use this. The DL speeds I think, max out for this company at around 3-6Mbps. Instead of using Sprint 3G coverage, which isn't full RevA 3.1Mbps, it's like 1-1.5Mbps.
Long story short, can I/could I modify my 4G/WiMAX MAC Address or something to jump on their towers and fully get my $10/Month worth?
I tried looking for this on my own, but the things that I am finding are if I recently did a OS Update, and my MAC has been mixed up and scrambled, not to fully mod the MAC.
edit: would there be a way, to even know if this would work? as in do they have to know my MAC address to provide me the service? Basically, an approval?

At least I am not the only one who wants to know. Lol.

I could be way off base, but this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733773) talks about editing wimax signal settings, maybe exploring in that menu will let you edit other wimax settings to get you what you want. Perhaps somebody with more technical knowledge can confirm/dispell this theory. Hopefully this at least points in the right direction...

not really.. however this guide was helpful though. but i am looking for a way to modify my entire WiMAX structure to read off these "foriegn, non-sprint" towers that are data only.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you have RSA keys on your phone for a reason. to verify you are who you are and to make sure your data doesn't get mixed up and that you can use clear's towers (sprint basically).
The company probably has a way to identify authorized users on its network and who is not authorized to use it.
That is the issue you ill most likely run into when you are trying to connect to their network.
Technically you shouldn't be able to do that but maybe the company doesn't give a damn....Ehh

[Q] Best Kept Secret... [Epic 4G + MetroPCS] ?

Is it just me or is fully flashing the Samsung Epic 4G to MetroPCS the best kept secret?
I got my phone fully flashed today from some guy on Craigslist and it's literally mind-boggling that no one on the internet has toppled this "obstacle". Am I missing something? Is there a reason why legitimate information about flashing the Epic to Metro is so rare to find?
By the way, I've been viewing the settings for the last hour and literally everything I've seen on the internet was obsolete. MMSC URL, DSA Server, and even altering the proxy and port in the Advanced Wi-Fi Settings. There's not even a proxy or port displaying at all.
I'm still rooted but I was running EC05 (Official Froyo) with the SyndicateROM Frozen Rom but now that he reflashed it, I'm stuck with ECLAIR DG27... I'm not risking a manual update because I don't want to lose my MMS and Web functionality especially considering the fact that I had to pay smh.
If anyone needs my ##DATA# settings, let me know. Maybe, together, we can figure this thing out...

It's mostly because
1) Our phone isn't exactly popular on demand.
2) Our phone isn't appreciated for what it has.
3) The Dev's who had metro and this phone went poof.
4) The other 5 things I missed.

because metro pretty much sucks...

Does the data work on this phone? Can you wireless teather? Can you browser the internet? Does mms work?

I haven't tried tethering but everything else works. I even tried out the GPS on my way home, works flawlessly.

No surprise the GPS works... That is a completely independent service. Transmitter and software.

You're right about the GPS. The internet works and mms also sends and receives. I'm sure we'll soon find a solution to this problem.

I wouldn't mind a guide. I hate sprint. Maybe you should check on the vibrant(or sorry whatever verizons galaxy s is)? Or if anybodys got it working for nexus s4g..

I said the same thing about Boost Mobile but WHATAYAKNOW. There's a tutorial for flashing. If you can't offer a solution, don't bother commenting.

I actually viewed that before but I was unsure if it would work for metro. Maybe by incorporating metro settings rather than the boost settings but I don't know.

[Q] 4g/Wimax for boost/repair epic touch

Okay This has been an ongoing thing for me and others. Long story short I would like to have 4g/wimax implemented on my Epic Touch 4g. I have everything else working fine for my lovely phone.4g is the only thing missing.Now for those of those who are new to this topic or have questions this process has been done on the first epic. Either with launcher pro/activities/wimaxlinetest or with dialing *#147852# and accessing wimaxlinetest from there. Now with that also being said first step does not work on epic touch,when you go int eh ability to write epic mac address and save wimax mac id has been removed and that dialer code that I stated earlier does not work on Epic Touch.
Now for things that have been said already.
1."You cannot do it because phone has to be activated to sprint for 4G to be provision" Sprint 3g and 4g radios and provisioning work totally different.3g and 4g authentication works totally different. 3g talks to sprint,4g talks to clearwire.
As long as you have an active sprint account and you have a 4g device you can use same mac address on epic touch 2 that you have on boost.
2."You wont be able to use 4g because phone is not activated what so ever" Phone does not have to be activated to sprint or boost for 4g to work.Please dont tell me that it has to because I still have original 4g epic that is not activated and 4g data works just fine. I still can use youtube,gtalk,google voice,etc.AND AS I STATED EARLIER MY OG EPIC IS NOT ACTIVATED.
3."WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS ANYWAY" I think the better question would be why not. Its my device I payed for it so why not use it how I want to use it. And I know its hard to do but please refrain from filling thread with unnecessary talk about being cheap,why I want to do this,its illegal etc. Because to be honest its pretty much the same principle for rooting and getting the most out of your device.And last time I checked free hotspot and changing roms and things like that are frowned upon to SPRINT so please save it lol. But then again I cannot stop no one for posting on the thread so hey. But please keep it positive or for the most part im just going to ignore you anyway. All I am asking for is help,And I would greatly appreciated it.Bashing is really not going to get us nowhere and sorry if Im coming off a little standoffish,but a great guy who does alot with helping people tried what im trying now,only for the thread to talk about things that had nothing to do with the subject. Please message me about how you got that quad data to work. I am also on Boost Mobile with my Epic 4g Touch. I have already tweaked the 3G settings (minimal gain, if any) and have been through the "Full WiMax Settings" thread with no change. I can connect but the bits aren't flowing.
NOTE: If anyone needs help going from a Galaxy Prevail to their Epic Touch I can help.

So.....im just gonna straight ask if this is possible......i have recently flashed my e4gt using a prevail.now......me like a freaking [email protected]#@#
decided to try and update my data profile and dumb long story short sent my phone back to ffing "hands free activation" now i have nothing on my phone but the meid numbers and nothing else i mean NOTHING.......now my question to you is What do you suggest i should do?

Strange 4g issue

A friend of mine was testing his 4g on his samsung epic with sprint service. Somehow he had 4g working while I tested my phone in the exact same spot and 4g would not connect....How is that possible if we are both using sprint service?

Hey Pivo187,
To be as straight forward as possible, some phones are better built and have different types of controllers installed. Not saying the phone is bad or that his is better, but different factors would come into play. i.e, have you dropped yours before? has he dropped his? how old is yours vs his? has he tweaked his settings manually or through a custo rom? Ha ve YOU tweaked yet is the main question. there are numerous ways of scripting your way to better signal reception for 4g and even speed on normal 3g. i.e, papa smurfs script, v8 super charger, rope a dope....list goes on. look in the develpment section, or do a search of the forum to pull up the key words. you may also directly change the settings in your phone through the DIAG program by ##data#, though you need your msl...all you need to get your signal boosted and speeds up is a search a way my friend. happy tweaking.

I have dropped it before yes. Mine is an EVo 4g I had it when it first came out. He has a custom ROM as do I. Hes only tweaked his as much as Ive tweaked mine. Im currently using Reloaded .44. Sent u a pm jost*

If you're using Reloaded, how do you know you are not getting 4G? There is a known issue with the 4G connection status icons being bogus on that ROM..

Well NxNW whenever i enable 4g I open the 4g/wimax & it just says "turning on tab" & its constantly showing 4g scanning..I know 4g works bc Ive tried it in other areas & it connects. Ive tested it and used it.

heres a quick link to some advice... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675457&highlight=speed+and+boost&page=18.... hinestly others work better with diff roms.... therefore, you must experiment. That is how we learn anyways. go to links on fiddys post as well as search boost and/or tweaks in the search tab on the page.

Those tweaks dont seem to work for everyone..Its hard to judge if the tweak is working also unless you install & uninstall right behind each other. I notice I get diff 3g speeds throughout the day & also what area Im in...

[Q] Automatically Switching Between 3G/4G

Is there a way for 3G to switch to 4G automatically? Yes, I know that 4G has to be turned on separately, but I know my old blackberry was capable of this, where you didn't have to turn the 4G toggle on, and wait for it to work. I wasn't using sprint at the time, but 4G is rare to me now, and I'd like my phone to switch to 4G on its own, without draining my battery and keeping it on. Is this possible? Or is this only with GSM phones? And can it be done with this phone? Details help, all post are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

But.
Sprint Connections Optimizer is what you're looking for. Though most disable/remove it. For the answers to why it's what you're looking for and why people don't use it. Just do some searching.
