OK I put on a new kernal (the one in my signature) and went into titanium back up and tried downloading a root app and it now says not rooted. I tried to use unrevoked and it said failed rom is to new. Wtf has happened

You surely must have root if you have a custom rom still. Is the SuperUser app listed? Try rebooting or flash the rom again with NO wipe.
OK a reinstall of rom done the trick. Would the kernal I got messed it up some how.

No it will not work. What happens is rom manager sets it to flash via the stock recovery on reboot, but it can't do that without the engineering bootloader, since the stock one doesn't allow self signed update packages such as clockwork to flash, while the engineering one does. You need to have full root to flash a recovery. And also, in case you didn't already know, the mt3gs is s-on so your recovery resets on reboot anyway, requiring you to flash a recovery every time you go to it. There's your answer haha

Yeah they really do. Good news though, we're about to get s-off. Alpharev is close.
How to remove stock apps ?
rooted HTC Evo with UnrEVOked 3 using stock 2.2 Froyo Rom
I was told to try titanium backup app but that didn't work either
Root explorer also didn't do much .
Anyone know a way that really works ? I just can't stand those apps running in the background all day .

Titanium Backup and Root Explorer should both work. If they arent, maybe you arent fully rooted. And FYI, the apps are not "running" in the background, just cached.
Good to know thx
So how do I turn fully rooted ?
Is this that Nand unlock ? That I keep reading in the forums ? I'm still new at this .
Thx for your help again

The problem may be that the rom isn't rooted. I'm presuming that since you are "rooted" you have a custom recovery (clockworkmod/AmonRa). Try flashing a stock froyo rooted rom. I believe Sprint lovers will do the trick, though i've never flashed a stock rooted rom. it will give you root privileges sufficient enough to remove system apps
I'm using the stock Froyo 2.2 Rom
Rooted via UnrEVOked 3 .

I've permrooted with visioanary and installed rom manager. Then I've flashed clockwork recovery from rom manager but each time I go into recovery I just get the regular recover icon, not the clockwork recovery icon or anything. I've tried this with all 3 versions of clockwork recovery on rom manager. Still only get the un modifier recovery screen. Am I doing something wrong???

i didnt use it personally i took the long route
Just flash Clockwork again from ROM Manager. It seems to usually take more than one flash before it "sticks".
I've flashed it about 20 times now into recovery. None have worked

Sounds like you only have root and not S-OFF then. S-OFF is needed to flash custom recovery.

I had read that it's not behaving consistently/predictably which leads to issues. Even though I used Visionary when I was temp rooting (the first month I had the phone) when I went to permanent root I used the gfree method.
I recently got a alltel Desire... I manage to unlock my phone but when I try to flash a custom rom, ive gotten errors.. i havent did anything extra just rooted it.. also when i unlocked my phone it had clockmod 2.5.2 i believe, can any one point me in the right direction or tell me what I'm doing wrong

You give absolutely no description about what fails so how would anyone be able to help you?
So first how did you root?
Which tutorial, if you flowed one, did you use?
What rom did you try to flash?
What errors did you get?
Hello
first, sorry for my bad english...
here is my trouble : i rooted my HTC desire with the unrevoked method, and it went well.
then, i have made a factory reset and applied the OTA update from 2.10 to 2.29 (OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2-2.10.405.2_R_P_release8gn61bgo3rswcw24.zip)
but now, when i'm trying to use an app that request the SuperUser rights, i don't get the pop up asking for this authorization... (i.e. titanium backup)
and i can't update the superuser app in the market...
i tried to re-root with unrevoked, but that didn't solve my trouble...
i need your help
thanks
Adrien
Never apply OTA updates on rooted phones.
You still have CWM recovery? If yes reflash your/a rom.
Otherwise use a ruu to unroot properly and reroot.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
yes, i have still CWM recovery
i don't understand what you mean with /a rom ?
and, if i do this way, how to update from 2.10 to 2.29
thanks
Adrien
You can reflash the rom you already have or flash a new custom rom. The custom rom will most likely be the newest version.
