Tell me, please, can I use UOT Kitchen at circle.glx.nl for Desire Z?
What ROM are you using? I haven't used UOT kitchen for a while, it should work if using CM6 not sure about CM7 though. I keep meaning to have ago. I the best bet is to give it a try, but as long as you do a nandroid before you flash you have got nothing to lose.

I may be wrong but I don't think it works with stock roms, best bet is give it a go and see.

Early I use Desire with stock firmware, everything was OK with UOT Kitchen. Now will try with Desire Z. I think somebody already tried and know an answer.

Definitely make a nandroid backup first. The UOT Kitchen only works with DEODEX ROMs and I'm pretty sure stock ROMs are still ODEXed (I know at least the G2 one is). At worst, flashing the modified framework-res produced by the kitchen will put you in a bootloop though (hence the need for a backup first).

There is no best ROM, it's subjective. Find one you like the look of and give it a go, don't like it, try another.
I understand m8 but I'm kinda new to all this flashing custom Rom stuff and just want a stable and fast Rom that does everything the stock 2.2 does and more with the g1 only cm was available through Rom manager so just used that where the desire has a lot of options lol

If you want sense you should either go for a SenseHD rom, or a MoDaCo one.
If you want stock Android, I would recommend CyanogenMod!
You know you don't need to download and flash roms solely through ROM Manager?
My advice is just to look at the ROM forum and download the one with the most hits, it's popular for a reason. There are really only two different types of ROM, Sense and the stock Android bundled usually with ADW.Launcher. It's not like WM where there are a plethora of different mods and registry changes, at least not in my limited experience.
I agree just neva been this spoilt for choice

have you updated to Froyo yet? As far as I know, they are just 2.2 Froyo radios. So if you have updated to 2.2 chances are you don't need to update. (Double check with the radio thing, I am an Android newbie as well so I am not 100% sure.)
As for the kernel, as far as I know you don't need to update this either.
For Sense roms I strongly suggest LeeDroid, and Desire HD roms I'd go for RCMixHD (Camera still not working yet, but it should be fixed soon), non Sense roms, go for OpenDesire, Cyanogen or MIUI
Agreed, if you want to try something refreshingly different, try MIUI.
Still ain't a clue which one to try lol
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
well try Leedroid first, then MIUI for non-sense, and see if you are attracted to sense or not

Also try CyanogenMod or OpenDesire to see if you like Stock Android.
There is no harm in trying different roms and switching if you want!
I've used cm 6 before Ive not flashed roms without using Rom manager and leeroid isn't available through that there's only a small section like cm, defrost nd others
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
IT's not too hard
1. Download Leedroid rom from their minisite's dropbox folder.
2. copy file onto your sd card
3. reboot into recovery
Important part!!
DO A NANDROID BACKUP!!!
i. select backup/restore
ii. select backup and let it rip
iii. return to menu
4. select flash .zip
5. find the leedroid rom & select it
Cheers for help just one more question once I've flashed a custom Rom if I ever wanted to return to stock how would I go about doing it

I really want to root my deisre, but I dont know where to start.
My system information on desire is
Android version 2.2
Baseband 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Kernel 2.6.32.15-gd966f2c0
Build 2.14.207.1 CL233777
All I want to do is be able to install apps2SD, I read somewhere with app2sd+ it lets you fool the phone in thinking you have more internal memory is this true?
I am a complete NooB at this so I just dont want to jump right in, I would like to somehow backup my stock ios so if anythink does go wrong and can reinstall back to default. All help welcome
shanks

Lol I never I just checked, so is ill all good then. If I mess up I can just install that ruu you posted
Thanks again great support on this site ha

You can indeed but if you read the guides carefully and be thorough you can't really go wrong
Thanks I'll have ago on Saturday off work then, if I do all this and 2.3 comes out can I still update or have I got to install a 2.3 Rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
A 2.3 official update to a branded desire is not going to come soon, anyhow you'll be rooted soon and a custom rom version of 2.3 will be released months before the official, so you might as well just stick with a custom 2.3 ROM.
But if you decide you want the official 2.3, then you apply the RUU, and then the update.
Ok thanks witch Rom is the best out there for app2SD?

Anything that supports EXT4
EXT3 is enough for A2SD+
Am going to try leedroid that seems the best out there from what I read

It's not really fair on the dev's to state a 'best' rom, i would suggest you try a few different roms out as it will be down to your own personal preference. The most popular ones are listed on the first page of the Android Development section of the forum. Have fun flashing
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
That's about as good a reply as you'll get
Yes your probably right, I'll try leedroid out first. If it dose what it say I don't think ill try anymore. Just want 1gb of internal memory lol

Hi Everyone!.. New to XDA and it's really helpful.
However, I am unable to find the answer to my query...
I have a HTC Wildfire S. Great phone don't get me wrong. I updated the software to 2.3.5 and I've hated it ever since Everyone moans about the "lock screen" but I don't have a problem with that. It's the fact it's slower and I am unable to root it.
Hence my question.. can you downgrade a WFS to 2.3.3 from 2.3.5?
All help would be appreciated
Yes, you can.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445867
you can do it , but also you can root it ! since you have an unlocked bootloader or s-off you can get permanent root using superoneclick , and flash custom recoveries and others !
downgrade from 2.3.5 to 2.3.3
hello i wanna know the procedure to downgrade my htc wildfire s.I also wanna know that will downgrading help in removing the "RELOCK" status of my phone to "LOCKED" for warranty purpose
. PLease help me I want my warranty
Guess what? It's old thread bump time!
My father wants to take my old Wildfire S (GSM) as I don't need it anymore ('updated' to Nexus 4). However I had CM7 on it and he disliked it for being different than Sense he knew from his Desire Z. I installed custom Sense 3.5 but he didn't fancy it either.
I can go back to stock 2.3.5 Android as I have it in my CWM backup folder in PC, but I know it will work similar to what I have now, that's why I need a tutorial how to go back to stock 2.3.3.
TL;DR - I must flash stock 2.3.3 on GSM Marvel.
Thanks in advance

Sure man,there's no hurry!thanks again
I've recently made the switch from a HTC Desire to a HTC One V. I don't mind the stock ROM, but the battery life sucks... Looking around, i see the bootloader unlocks easily, and rooting can be done easy, but I always thought without s-off, we couldnt change the ROM?
Anyway, i'm itching to find out what is doable here, and you guys are the experts... Fill me in will ya?
After unlocking the bootloader and rooting, you can install any ROM and any Kernel you'd like as long as it's compatible with the ROM you're planning to use. We have a variety of awesome ROMs including Sense ROMs if you like Sense or Vanilla ICS/JB if you like that, too. SuPrimo and myOneV are Sense ROMs and CyanogenMod 9 is stock ICS and CyanogenMod 10 is stock Jelly Bean. Go ahead and pick your poison.
-M
As we don't have s-off till now hence you have to flash kernels through fastboot and after that you can flash roms(compatible with flashed kernel) via recovery.....
