Kaiser Fat Free Froyo SD-ready install - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Here is a pre-made Haret install of Fat Free Froyo RLS5 Odex'd (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819082) for those like me who had problems finding everything and getting it up and running.
For the KTC Kaiser with panel type 2. This build is optimized for a 512 MB SD card (instructions for changing SD card size below).
Simply extract the zip file to your SD card, safely remove the card, stick it in the phone and run Haret from the /andboot folder.
For different size SD cards, simply edit install-seq.sh in notepad to change all instances of the number 524288 to the correct size, e.g. for a 1GB SD card, do 1*1024*1024 = 1048576, so 1048576 is the number you change it to. Same goes for 2 GB 2*1024*1024 and so on.

Thanks for this, nice hassle-free way to get things onto SD.
It's eating my battery something fierce, though, and battery calibration doesn't seem to work either.
Could be my setup though (stock 6.0 ROM due to needing it to work with my RedFly and stock 1.2something radio, which isn't supposed to work well with Android builds), but I'm wondering if you happen to know which kernel this uses?

Major Requirement:
HardSPL v3.29 (recommended for flashing NAND kernel through SD)
Radio version 1.65 or higher
The lower radio version will cause unusual behavior. Hyperdragon IV Mega WM6.1 comes with Radio version 1.65, you can flash it after having hardSPL 3.29 on your phone. Then just proceed with froyo

Thanks for the reply.
Because I'm stuck with WM6.0 for the RedFly, I´m trying to figure out whether flashing the 1.65 Radio will cause problems with WM6.0.
But yeah, I figured the 1.27 Radio was part of Android sucking batterylife like a vampire...

No, see, that's the problem: I need the 6.0 ROM to have the Kaiser work with my RedFly.
The 6.1 ROMs have all given me trouble after installing the RedFly app.
I guess the point is: I could get a 6.1 ROM with a 1.65+ Radio and probably have better results with Android.
But right now I need it to work with my RedFly (it's my only mobile that works well with it, and I have others for Android if I really want that) and that only seems to be flawless with WM6.0
I could check it with WM6.0 with a 1.65+ Radio, but I'm fairly sure that those two don't mix.
For all I know the RedFly app might actually not play well with 1.65+ Radios.

Works only on Windows OS ? if i want to chance my version of android from linux(ony my phone) ? i need the KaisIMG.nbh ? (and the kaisdiag.nbh)

im flashing my phone whit the sdcard from android to android and use the kaisdiag.nbh, i don't know if is necesary file, but i reboot the phone froim android, and hold the Dpad, and instal the new system. And works !
i think i can change the kernel for overclock to 495Mhrz and works fine, what you think?

Probably all possible, but this post is meant as a complete set of files to install FFF to boot from the SD-card with Haret.
So this post isn't meant for what you're trying to do, I think.
Still, installing this build by renaming it KaisIMG.nbh and placing it in the root of your SD-card for flashing is probably what you describe as working.

works, and still works, but no wifi-camera (on the older rom for droid he works) , ._. anyway, i test any versions and i never find a stable version for my kaiser, on WinMo works really fine, on android works fine for a shor time
Some android roms stable?

This process will erase windows mobile? I would like to try it!
Hello Mark from Rome

Battery issues solved with this rom
For me 2.6.25 kernel solved the battery issues with radio 1.70.19.09 (that radio also enabled camera to work). Took me 2-3 days to find out...

Thanks, big help!
I am trying to make the data connection work, any tips?
Tried already: lots of radios, connect data in WM before starting haret, different kernels from dzo, l1q1, and so on...

download link is dead..can someone please post a new one?
thanx

Official T-Mobile 2003 (RUUv2.07_CEv4.01.16rom) is here

hear we go
www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/Software/RUUv2.07_CEv4.01.16.exe
This version has been pulled back by T-Mo.
Go ahead if you must, but know that 4.01.16 has been pulled by T-Mobile because many people are ending up with paperweights after trying to upgrade with it.
Someone elsewhere has recommended doing a hard reset of your XDA before trying this upgrade to free up as much RAM as possible.
I understand it's a problem with the installer. Use the SD card method and it'll be a lot safer. If you're paranoid then don't install the radio update until it's released.
OK.
I've also read that you need to do an SD-card install anyway if you already have a Beta WM03 version installed -- the upgrade.EXE checks for the version currently installed.
 what? mine upgraded just fine!!
I can't get nine to upgrade either. My error that it gives me is that my ppc isn't connected to the USB port and to try again. I've installed the xda "unlock" rom upgrade so I'm at ver. 3.17.03 instead of the 3.08 that t-mobile says the unit should be at before the upgrade. Should I downgrade and try again or what.
well... make sure activesync is GREEN, and that your battery is FULLY charged, and IS hooked up to AC power supply.
if that dont work, after you run the upgrade, go to its folder, and copy the NBF file to sd, upgrade that way (the first time), then run setup again, to get the radio upgrade done too.
I upgraded mine and I have now W2003 running but my radio stack still 6.18 not 6.25 . thats correct?
If you use the SD card method the radio stack upgrade is a seperate step, so you won't automatically go to 6.25.
I tried copying the rsupgrade and the radio stack file but it fails, any one knows who I can update the radio stack to 6.25?
Here's how...
are the Siemens/AT&T WM2003 version bugs fixed?
At the moment I'm running the Siemens/AT&T official WM2003 ROM on my 32MB Dutch O2 XDA. This works great.
However, this ROM has the notorious sound bug and the memory leak bug. Volume of alarms is too low so I miss appointments frequently because I can't hear the reminder alarm (eg. in a noisy environment) and the memory is drained slowly (a soft reset every day fixes that).
Are these 2 bugs fixed in the T-Mobile WM2003 ROM :?:
OK ntabika,
Every thing is connected (and syncing in other downloads) but still gives same error. I'm new at this (had the thing two days) so I don't I'm unsure of which folder and were to find the nbf file. I've got a sd in and have been able to load but I don't know how to get the upgrade to the sd card
Thx,
David in Boulder

Sound bug: Yes.
Memory leak: Time will tell. But might this also be due to an application (MS reader used to be notorious)?
Trials and Tribulations
So, ahh...
I went through it all. Tried to install via .exe and of course that didn't work (already have 2003 beta running).
Then I went to install the radio stack as prescribed in this thread. One recommendation: DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING WHILE IT INSTALLS. I accidentally touched the screen and it went back to the apps and crashed later after boot.
IF that happens to you, it'll sit there at the boot screen for about half hour and then go through and boot all the way up. You can then try to install the radio stack again. Worked for me the second time.
I then also upgraded the rest of the shizit using the WONDERFUL xda-developer tools. Also no word yet on the memory leak, otherwise everything works pretty much same as the AT&T latest official release.
Now if there was some Linux distribution out yet, how hard can it be to get this thing working right??? I'm willing to bet almost anything that it has the memory leak and its usual bugs.
Peace.

RBS WM6.1 ROMS and Hard Reset ...Possible Solution thread and thoughts

I wanted to install PDACorner v22 RBSN over NRBSN and I flashed defore the See here for more info Dr Puttingham solution suggested ROM via SD.
I have done the SD Flash once more with my WWE ROM 3.54 and in both ROMS the ORDER of flashing parts on my Tytn 's screen was
Code:
IPL,Bootloader,ExtROM,GSM,OS
I know we all use dutty's nbh tool v1.1 for compiling RUU_Signed.nbh .
I dare to make a thought about this tool makes the RBS ROMS to Hard Reset, because it makes the order of flashing
Code:
IPL,Bootloader,OS,GSM
meaning it flashes the Radio after the OS.
Both Stock ROMS with EXTRom flashes the Radio before the OS.
So is there any chance of changing the order in dutty's tool and do the Radio flash before the OS???
In that way we can check if THIS is the problem (and solution) of Hard Resets
Please post your thoughts on my theory and I will contact dutty about this thread to see if he can change his tool

The only problem here, is that I remove the radio from my stock rom before flashing, and I have had no HR or freezing problems.
Edit: Though.. atm, a single rom flash doesn't last much more than a day...
interesting thread
I don't take shortcuts, I follow the dr's order down to the T, and does take a good half an hour to 45 min to get things running, I will monitor of quicker way of doing it, if it saves me time, I would love to know too, so .. here I am watching with anticipation.

It should be IPL,SPL, Nothing , OS without flashing radio and NOT IPL,SPL,OS, Nothing which is the case now

Whatever the order of the pices, wouldnt the firmwear still have to go to the same places in the chip? Or you would end up in brick town.
Didn't someone say the HR's where due to part of the chip not being overwritten, and when you flash another rom, (that isnt a FULL shipped) it ended up causing incomparability issues?

Remember guys the Real Big Storage ROMs overwrite the ext_rom portion to use as the extra storage, since it wasnt designed to do this we can assume that sometimes it might not work correctly.
Sure the tools and everything work fine with it all most of the time.
The reason flashing an official ROM seems to remedy the issues with Hard Resets is that if you reflash everything, the flash memory is refreshed back to the correct OS and ext_rom arrangement, then flashing an RBS ROM onto this area should in theory work fine thanks to the "spring clean" of the memory area.

It wasnt until recently that I experienced any hard reset issues with any of the ROMs here, i noticed that leading up to a Hard Reset or freeze at the boot screen things such as file operations and running programs seemed to fail...with access denied errors and etc..
Also programs failed to save registry data aswell, coreplayer repeatedly asked for the activation key (which ofcourse ive got).
Leading me to believe that the storage portion of the OS was not working correctly...and since thats the part we have (pardon the term) misused )) then perhaps a reflash to the old configuration to give the storage area a flat format would do the trikc...which it did.
So its definatly advised, even if you havent experienced the issues, to one in a while before you flash a new ROM, flash an official ROM which uses and ext_rom aswell to give it a quick clean out.

help please

just a quick question for a stupid noob, ive flashed my diamond to Gen.Y TouchFlo3Dv2.1 VGA and im loving it, its taken a while but ive got it just how i want now, if i change the radio will i have to set up all my apps again
no.....
when i run the program its a ruu and i thought that would wipe all my apps and i would have to re install my apps, but your saying no, all my programs will stay and all the reg tweaks ive made will stay untouched .
It will wipe programs from your "phone" memory, not from the "internal" memory I think. But I think that the old ones will not be visible. Settings after flashing new rom will be removed. That's my oppinion
Radio...
Flashing a radio won't touch any of your programs or settings... it's in a different part of the ROM
Flashing a Radio..

Hi Bazz..
What Benko said, short but sweet , is absolutely right.. Just use the CustomRUU.exe (flashing utility) and the radio file you want and flash as is (I have HardSPL on my phone allowing me to flash anything).. I applied the same Gen2.1 ROM (my compliments to Yozgatg for a great ROM ) not more than a week ago, tried the Radio 1.13.25.24 and then decided to go back to 1.15.25.14 (search on forums and you'll find it). I've been using that Radio for a good number or months and it's pretty reliable and good on battery (for HTC Diamond) so you might want to have a look and see what others have said about it
BTW - I flashed it as is and didn't have to re-enter any settings at all and my phone booted as normal after. If you sync your phone with your desktop PC make sure you get a sync BEFORE you upgrade just in case as it's better to be safe but like grahamkdt said I doubt you'll need it.
Yeah SRY, I ment the full rom flashing

[Q] Newby need entlightment from pros

Hello everyone,
I just got myself a new HTC Desire with Vodafone Branding.
HBOOT : 0.800
Software number: 1.19.161.5 (I believe this should be Android 2.1)
Kernel version : 2.6.29-b7e82785 (I guess this is still HTC original)
I wanna root my phone and if I guess that I can do further, I am also thinking of using another rom.
My main concern is that the internal memory can not fit any more apps and I still want to add more, after searching in the internet I found out that I need to root and/or to use other rom.
Second concern...I just wanna learn..
I have downloaded Unrevoked3 and the H-Boot USB driver.
From what I have read, I am all set for rooting (gonna do this tomorrow evening after work and after I have calmed down a bit, I am a bit nervous cause this is my first time ).
I have removed the HTCsync but still keeping the drivers.
I also know that I will need ClockworkMod. Make EXT2/3/4 partition with at least 512MB (I would like to make it 1gb) and optional SWAP (perhaps I will make it 256mb, do I really need SWAP?).
So, please teach me on :
1. Now about the rom, I need an Android 2.2 with optimum stability and speed, to tell you the fact, I don't even now which one and where to get it.
2. Beside the main rom, do I need also the camera and radio rom to get them running? again where to get them? How do I install them? The same way as installing the main rom (from HBOOT recovery)? Before or after installing the main rom?
3. How to make the back up of my current rom, setting, and apps? I don't have much apps yet but perhaps I would need the backup if something went wrong.
I still a whole bunch of questions but I guess those will do for now.
Please be kind and help me one this one pleaassssseeeeeeeee...
Anyway...thanks in advance.
Read in development.

1. This thread has all the rom's in it. It's all about personal taste but if you like sense i would recommend Leedroid to start with.
2. When you come form 2.1 you will need to upgrade your Radio, if you OTA upgrade to 2.2 before rooting you do not have to update your radio but you can. A link to the radio thread is also in the above link.
3.
Once you are rooted with unrevoked you can preform a nandroid form recovery or you can download Rom Manager from the market and backup via that.
If you just want to backup apps you can use titanium backup or you could sync your apps with appbrain and reinstall them.
About the ext partition, i think swap is not necessary and if you want a 1 gig partition use Gparted
Thank you very much for the answer.
I will look into those first.
If I found any trouble, I will ask you guys again.
Thank you again.
First, I wanna say thank you again.
I have read some review about the LeeDroid. It sounds very good.
I will pick LeeDroid as my first after market rom.
I will thus flash (.zip files are already downloaded in the PC) :
Leedroid 2.2e
Latest Radio ROM; 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.27
LeeDroid 2.2e Kernel Boot Fix (Just to be sure, because I don't how my desires proc can be OCed)
DSP Manager.
My last questions:
- Is there any particular order which rom I should flash first?
Example : LeeDroid - Radio - Kernel Fix - DSP manager
-Can I flash them all with only 1 reboot (flash everything and choose reboot only once in H-Boot recovery menu)? or Do I have to flash only one at a time, reboot, and flash the next one and reboot again?
I'm not sure about radio's.
But if you flash leedroid 2.2e you need to flash it and after it (without reboot) flash the bootfix kernel.
Addons and theme's should be flash after the first full boot.
that is the correct order
you must flash the rom first, reboot, then flash the rest all in one go. REMEBER the first reboot is important!!
Got it!
Radio (I need the radio rom cause my radio rom is old, belongs to original 2.1) , Leedroid main rom and Kernel Fix in one go, then 1st reboot.
And then the other addons in one go.
and of course reboot again.
Thanks a lot guys!

lots of things came up to me this weekend, I am not able to flash my Desire.
Since I am doing this for the first time, I would like to have a quite time for myself alone, so that I am calm during the flashing just in case if something went wrong.
well...I will do it (I hope) on next friday evening...
I will write again the progress next week.
Untill now all I have done is the rooting via Unrevoked3, and installing the rom manager from android market. I haven'T even formatted the sd card.
Thanks again.
OK, Go to hell with quiteness.
I can not wait hehehehe just to anxious to start flashing.
and.....
I did it...it works...
Thank you
Flashing is not that hard...hehehehe...
I have played with LeeDroid and I have to say...This can do a lot more than the original.
Hmmm...I a fan of Sense although some say it slows down the phone.
I have tried the HTC HD ROM on my Desire, I like the new sense but too bad the camera still doesn't work. I have to go back to LeeDroid just because of the camera problem.
|OP|,
I joined this forum because I am a newbie just like you (before you got your Jedi-Flashing Wings).
I too have a HTC Desire running Android 2.2 (Kernel 2.6.32.15). I have exactly the same problem as you had - I've run out of room for apps on internal memory and the standard Froyo apps2sd thing can't shift anything else to the SD card.
I'm really interested to learn how your phone handles apps now. Does your phone think it has 1 gig of internal memory? Are you able to shift every app to the SD card? Did you have to give up your HTC apps and widgets?
I would really appreciate any feedback.
Cheers!
Yup...limited room for installing apps is my main or perhaps my only reason of flashing my desire with modified rom.
- About the 1GB thing, well I didn't do it since I wanna try the flashing procedure just as it is described in youtube desire rom flashing guide (not confident enough to do it all alone), and it is shown in youtube using only 512MB
But, I will try it later (planned on december after I finish my university assignment).
-Well, I have flashed and used it only for about a day or two, so I am still not 100% sure, but all the apps I have downloaded and installed are all going to the SDCard. I guess all of them will eventually go to the SDCard.
-HTC Apps and widgets? Everything is there, as far as I noticed until now.
Now, I am enjoying the DSP equalizer, apps to SDCard (16GB ), but still afraid of OCing.
SMS, WLAN, Camera, E-Mail, etc. seem to work smooth, no bugs found so far.
My Desire seems to run faster than with the original rom, but it is just my subjectiv comparison.
The phone won't 'see' your EXT partition but when you install apps the quoted storage will barely go down...I have a 1GB EXT3 partition on my SD card for when I use a custom ROM, its 16GB so I don't miss the space as I'm on a stock ROM at present and don't use many apps

You got that one right on the spot.
Most of my apps are games.
Games are not considered as necessary apps.

Thanks EddyOS and |OS|,
This sounds awesome! I've got 14 MB remaining on my internal memory and a long list of apps I still want to play with.
With this news I'm going to jump into the whole flashing/rooting thing (incidently why do both of these terms have sexual overtones?).
LeeDroid here I come!
|O2| did you use the Unrevoked root method? Could you possibly post the youtube link that you mentioned? I am, as you were, quite anxious about turning my beloved Desire into an expensive paperweight so any extra tips would be very appreciated. (I have heard that it is fairly simple and has a very low risk but I'm still a bit hesitant)
Thanks again! What a wonderfully helpful community this is!

[Q]BIG problems with reboots SOLVED SO FAR

I'm sorry that this thread is here again, still unsolved.
But I would really want to use my phone again. I've got nothing ATM.
What I've tried already:
- Every radio version wich can be downloaded for the Kaiser
- 2.6.32 and 2.6.25 Kernel - Latest 2.6.32 kernel with reboot fixes from Clamsyn
- Diffrent Android Builds like 'Fat Free Froyo', 'Not So Super Froyo', 'CM6.1 Gingerbread', 'Clemsyn's Final Froyo' and so on.
- Wi-Fi fixes
- Re-re-re-re-re-installing Android
- Re-re-re-re-re-flashing kernels and radios
The problem explained:
When using any radio/kernel/build my phone reboots every time my Wi-Fi is on.
At first when Android is freshly installed there are no problems at ass when using Wi-Fi, but after a while it starts to reboot as long as the Wi-Fi is on.
The Wi-Fi is on, I've got about 1 à 2 minutes before the phone reboots. After the reboot, the Wi-Fi restores his state from before the reboot. Now i've got about 30 seconds before it reboots again to turn off the Wi-Fi

If there's any more info on my mind I'll post it.
Hope someone's got a fix or solution for this.
Thanks
I had a similar problem, with WIFI and DATA connection, that I solved with:
this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9768617&postcount=63
ROM: Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1 RLS5a
radio: 1.65.16.25
I suggest data on SD card partition for extra stability.

Could not determine filesystem size
Failed
Failed to format
blablabla
unmount: can't unmount /data: invalid argument
EDIT: Could be that i did the partition thing wrong. Trying another way ATM
EDIT: Nope doesn't work...
meh i suck
Install everything on NAND just to see if this combination works for you.
It takes a while until it starts to reboot.
Installing right now so... hoping...
Thanks a lot for even taking your time to help me
When this doesn't fix the problem I'm going to upload a small vid showing what it does. So it's easier to understand the problem. Android booted. Now install some apps and reboot and try to make it reboot again
I had a similar problem in the past.
I solved it with a complete install from the htc factory standard windows mobile rom including the radio. After the complete setup and the reboot after the setup you can try to install another radio and the android kernel and rom again.
This solved my problem. And I use the latest 1.71.09.01 radio and I have no problems with it.
Maybe this helps you.

I'ma try that as well. The problem now is: I have 0.00kb total memory and 0.00kb free so... can't install anything
wich radio?
EDIT: or does it come with the rom downloaded from htc website?
What's this thing I keep getting? Like I said in the previous posts, with the Failed, Failed to format
Never had that before lol'd :/
Still no luck. Keeps rebooting :/
Any other ideas???
If you have hard spl installed, then the installation ist really easy. Open the offical "Kaiser_HTC_ASIA_HK_WWE_3.34.721.2.exe" with 7zip and extract the RUU_signed.nbh to the root of your sd card. Then rename it in KAISIMG.nbh.
Manual for flashing:

---> Flashing Via MicroSD Card
Try it. And I think that you have to make the complete htc first setup process with reboot. My problems were gone after I made this complete setup with the standard htc rom. After that my kaiser was working well. So I installed another radio, kernel and android rom and all was working well after this.
Nope sorry, Tried that yesterday, Still rebooting.
I'm going to post a video wich shows it. Crappy Quality. Shot with my Nokia 3500c so... kind of... yeah...
Video will be posted in a couple of minutes

Did you use BusyBox update that is in the particular thread? I found out, that it fu*ks up everything... messes the keyboard, breaks stability...
I am not using it anymore. Instead I put my apps to the androidinstall.tar file to avoid using newly installed app and it seems to be quite stable for me...
Nope no busybox used :s really ****ed up problem
srry for the language
i did have various probs with sd cards not recognised and failed to format on install.
even trying full format on win 7 and xp didnt help.
i used an sd formater from http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ and select Full Erase On Format size adjustment on.
then, as if by magic ;-) , android installed. worth a try?
Trying that right now...
Thank you btw
If that works I just need to fix the Wi-Fi problem :s
