HTC Desire SIM-Unlock Utility - Desire General

SIM-Unlock Utility v0.9.5
As being pointed out by more and more users regarding scamms, I have to clarify:
THIS APP IS FREEWARE! DO NOT TRUST ANY EBAY/WHATEVER-SITE SELLER!
If you've been asked money and you paid for it, try to get a refund by mailing both Ebay/Paypal/middleman and get them shut down.
This is the only site I endorse!
Commercial use is forbidden!

The summer holiday brought me some more time, so I decided to update the tool. The latest version works on Windows, takes ~30 seconds and the rate of success is greatly improved (we'll see about that.. ). Forget about iso and burning. This is still only for Desire (HTC Bravo),though..
Please note! By using the windows version of the app, you ar not required to boot your phone into HBOOT, it will take care of it by itself.
Old stuff (previous versions, linux only):Burn the iso, boot it, power up your phone into HBOOT by pressing both Vol-Down and Power and follow the instructions.
Post your experiences here for further development. The app doesn't require root or s-off and should work on any hboot and radio version. (it has been tested so far with HBOOT up to 0.93.1000 and RADIO up to 5.14.05.17).
It's based on some vulnerabilities and undocumented features, so disclosing them would mean the greater the chance of them being corrected.
I've only tested it on Desire GSM and I do not recommend using it on CDMA devices; doing otherwise could lead to unpredictable results.
Download link:
Windows version: HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.9.5.rar
Bootable linux cd (obsolete!): HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.2a.iso
If you like free software and find this tool useful, Paypal me a beer, it helps development a lot..
Changelog:
v0.9.5 - beta version; added debugging info that help future updates; reads Sensation HT** unlock code; not tested, might not work at all..
v0.9.4 – better connectivity with the phone; I actually didn’t test it because my USB socket (phone side) has a hardware problem (due to multiple plug ins/outs) and allows only charging. If you test it and it works, please report back!
v0.9.2 - If you have problems connecting with the phone, simply boot your Desire in Hboot menu (Vol-Down + power), connect to computer via usb cable and wait for the menu title to change to HBOOT USB PLUG; only and only then should you start the app; it might work this way for some of you.
v0.9.1 - dealt with Unable to load function(s) error.
v0.9 - major changes; windows version; different approach;
v0.2a - trying to reduce the number of false positives; the phone should restart if everything's ok. If it doesn't, start over again until it does.

Can I just kiss whoever posted this? You're a star. I know nothing about phones other than how to use them but I followed the instructions and have successfully unlocked my phone.I was so scared I was going to kill it but it worked first time! The s thing was on if that helps but I'm so sorry I forgot to write the other things down. You've saved me 30 pounds which is what my local phone shop wanted to charge me and I'm so happy as I can now get rid of my horrid orange and use giffgaff instead.

Thank You very much! Work like a charm.

I am not sure if this is a daft question or not!
If i unlock my desire this way, does this give me the ability to install any ota updates without the use of a goldcard, rather than having to wait for my network provider to 'doctor' them before i am able to install?

No, this is for SIM unlock

Unlock allows you to use your sim card with another network provider...
in order to install other ROM's or get updates from HTC(which might never come) you need to ROOT and install a custom rom.

Hi.
Does the phone need to be rooted for this to work?
Thanks

Debranded T-Mobile Desire with 2.10.405.2 - No WiFi?

Hello Users,
I really hope some of the experienced Desire users here can help me out!
I bought a HTC Desire with T-Mobile branding in Germany (appears to be the sLED version). It has no SIM lock and I just hate the T-Mobile branding so I tried to debrand and update the ROM to a stock rom from HTC.
I used the GoldCard Tool to create a GoldCard from my 4GB SD that came with the device and downloaded the latest version of Froyo 2.2 from shipped roms (first I tried the 2.09.405.8, then the upgrade to 2.10.405.2).
As soon as I debranded my desire I had no option to turn on the Wifi anymore. If I go to the menu point where I can enable the Wifi, it takes a few seconds and sets a green hook. Shortly afterwards it is searching for available networks and comes up with the error message "Unable to scan for networks".
I tried many different ROMs now, downgraded, upgraded, created the GoldCard again, etc. and followed everything I could find on the web to solve the problem. I also tried different SIM cards but nothing works.
I am quite sure that the hardware is ok, because it was working with the T-Mobile branded ROM.
When I start the phone holding down the vol-down key, it says:

(maybe that helps)
Who ever is able to get me that Desire working will definitely get some donations for beer from me!
Thank you in advance!
First thing would be to go back to stock but the German T-Mobile ROM isn't available so that's out the window. Only thing you can try is to roll back to 2.1 and see if it then works. Follow this guide to roll back your HBOOT/ROM back to 2.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
I did try to roll back my mobile phone even to the 1.2 something, that you can get from shipped roms webpage. The problem is that it is not really supporting the sLCD phones, if I downgrade I have a black screen.
Any other ideas?
What if I downgrade, root and use a custom ROM - could that help to solve my problem?
If so, what custom ROM would you conider to be the best right now in my case?
That guide I posted puts the correct 1.21 with support for SLCD Desires...follow it then you can what you want
I think I tried the guide already, with the result, that I had a black screen after rebooting the device. But I will try again.
I have the same issue with debranded (not rooted) Desire (T-Mobile), 2.10 damaged wifi. I have the original AMOLED version. I wonder now if I can still repair it somehow without loosing data, settings, applications etc.
So it seems to happen with the sLCD as well as with the AMOLED.
Any more users out there that have/had the same issue?
My phone is brand new, no software, apps or data on it that I would miss so I can try everything out to repair it.
I was in a mobile shop here in Vietnam and the guy explained to me that I should download and purchase an APP called "Super Manager Andriod" that would allow you to delete files in the ROOT. He said if I go to the folder /something/wifi/... there will be only one file in there, if I delete it, the WiFi would work again.
From my point of view that makes not a lot of sense, can he be right? The app cost $8 and if anyone here thinks that might work without a rooted Desire, please tell me.
Are there any other apps that allow you to delete files from ROOT that are freeware?
Solution (NO DATA LOSS)!
Credit goes to OOK, I've just added more detailed comments:
1) Create and insert a gold card
2) Download http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_HTC_EU_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_releaseol2djq7rqarka2ka.zip
3) Copy it to the gold card and rename to update.zip
4) Power off the phone
5) Power on while holding Volume Down
6) Wait until everything is loaded and displayed, scroll with Volume Down to Recover and press Power button
7) Press Volume UP + Power buttons when warning triangle appears
8) Scroll down with Volume Down to Apply sdcard:update.zip
9) Press Power
10) Confirm restart by Power button when the installation is finished (press once, it takes some time to show some progress)
11) Wait, wait, wait, and finally wait.
12) Enjoy
My recommendation - do you have debranded Desire? Always have goldcard inserted (ie. transform your normal SD card into goldcard and use it normally)
Did this work with your Desire?
I am quite sure I tried this already, I will download, unzip, rename, install again and see what happens.
you dont unzip, you just move the zip file to the sd card
If I have created a GoldCard once, will it stay a GoldCard, or do I have to create a new GoldCard after I format or change data on it?

creating a goldcard alone will not damage or make you lose anything
My big question is that if i have my goldcard inserted and choose to do the OTA update to 2.10.405.2 on my debranded desire, should there be any problems????????
No, the gold card is needed to allow the OTA to install. Without it you get ID errors (or issue with it not fully installing)...you can't apply the OTA to a rooted phone, though

[Q] HELP! Desire refuses to work after update

Ok, I think I need some help here.
I have a german (GSM?) HTC Desire, running Froyo 2.2.
Some days ago I flashed unrevoked3 and had root s-off.
I wanted it to use adFree (no success) and screenshots.
So today an update was provided and without further thinking I chose to apply it.
Now all my desire does is starting - restarting - starting - restarting...
Pushing Vol. down and pressing startbutton brings me to the HBOOT screen, recovery gives me a black screen with a phone icon and a warning sign in red.
clear storage does not affect anything. I am trapped.

=( help?
ok, if you didnt already know, you should never apply an OTA update to a rooted phone.
what rom was on your phone originally? was it branded to a provider?
please give as much information as possible as it is likely that you will need to run the RUU to get it back to stock.
The phone was bought at a 0² shop in germany. Running a stock rom. No branding (soft/hardware).
ok, you could try running this RUU...
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
this will wipe your phone, unroot, s-on but will not touch your sdcard.
put you phone into fastboot (power on and back key)
connect to PC - FASTBOOT USB should show on your phone
Run the RUU youve downloaded
if you need to, you will have to root / S-OFF again after this has completed.
EDIT-- make sure you run it as administrator if not using XP. And turn off any antivirus etc...
Better link for the RUU:
http://www.multiupload.com/LEJCW182AH
Really big thanks for the fast reply. I will try this. Downloading the stock rom with 17KB/s... having a 16000DSL connection... oh boy. I will have a nap now.

Wow. Big thx. Downloading with 1,5MB/s now.
The RUU flash stops after a while giving me an error saying something with user ID. I guess this happens because it´s not an 0² rom. HTC has special roms for 0² germany. (I had a HTC Leo, same here. I had to download a special 0² stock rom to get back to total factory settings.)
I hope there is Desire stock 0² rom somewhere...
Don't think there was an o2 DE RUU available, got a link for the o2 UK one?
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe
No MultiUpload this time, sorry
Well, I tried 4 or 5 different WWE and Europe ROMs now. Everytime the same: ERROR # xxx USER ID bla bla. The flash is cancelled then...
Nothing works. Hours of research...
That's because you need a gold card, without one you're screwed
Nope.
I solved it.
I downloaded OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2 (3085)
(Froyo OTA manual update) renamed it to update.zip and put it on my sd. Then I booted to the bootloader, switched to recovery (I figured out how to get to the blue recovery menu) and then I installed the update.zip. It aborted suddenly, but somehow android boots normally again. Seems like it works fine. Testing now.
Ok, the system did run buggy. I downloaded this at the o² Germany website, installed it on my desire and now everything works like a charm again.
=)

HELP PLEASE! DHD Bricked? Tried to DEBRAND WITHOUT GOLDCARD

So my DHD is stuck on the black screen with HTC logo and an error symbol in each corner. This happened after trying to install an unbranded stock RUU on my DHD which is branded and is on Vodafone AU with 2.2 and 1.32.178.5. I read that somebody else fixed this problem by reinstalling the original software with RUU. However i can only find my exact software in a zip, not RUU...Also i don't have a gold card.

[Q] DZ is not booting - HTC bootimage freeze

Hi guys,
right now after hours of looking around for a thread helping me out... i need help of an expert. My history:
I was ending a telefone call normally when the DZ was freezing in that event. After some time i had to put out the battery, nothing else seemed to help. After that the desire z freezes while booting (HTC boot logo) in a boot loop.
technical facts:
Vision PVT Ship S-Off
HBoot 0.85.005
Microp-0425
Radio 26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Oct. 11 2010 20:10:38
What i did to my phone:
After geeting my DZ i was rooting it with adb and one of the how-TOs of xda-dev. Everything was fine. Then i was installing cyanogenmod 7.0.3 through rom manager. Afterwards i tried MiUI. All was working fine for me until that event after finishing the call. CWM is not installed anymore due to a try to install the PC10IMG.zip from the rooting progress directly through the SD Card and hboot.
Updating from SD-Card also does not work. Fail-PU is more or less the only info i get from hboot. Also it gets stuck when updating radio V2. No reaction of the phone. Update from hboot is not finished normally.
I have no clue anymore...bricked?
Any suggestions helping me out are welcome.
Thanks in advance
Alex

Are you sure CWM isn't installed? Try powering on while holding down the vol+down to get into the bootloader and selecting "recovery"; you may just have a bad recovery file.

Hi OriginalGabriel,
when i choose recovery, there is the screen appearing shortly when the SD card is prepared. Then the phone gets dark and i need to pull the battery! At the end there was MiUI on the phone, which is, as far as i experienced, based on cyanogenmod.
There is another issue i try to understand:
I have no chance to connect with adb. I tried it on hboot but no chance. MyHTC is showing up at the device manager. I need to go back to s-on somehow, otherwise i have a problem.
Thanks for any hint.

[Q] HTC Wildfire S not booting up

I searched the forum for such an incident and even though there were similar incidents none of them could help me see where i was going wrong. The phone was sent to get its screen replaced and the idiots at vodafone reflashed it. Ever since it refuses to pass the HTC screen. It can still go to bootloader and flash mode. I tried the simple method of putting the .zip on the SD card but it tells me CID error, I honestly dont want to send this back to vodafone i fear if it returns this time it might explode if i try to turn it on.
Summary:
1. Phone wont pass the HTC screen
2. Tried the simple reformatting method
3. ?
Any insight to this puzzle would be greatly appreciated
thanks
do you know your cid? if you do you have to open the file you're trying to flash and edit the text file that needs your cid

no i dont, and the methods of obtaining it i saw in the similar instances required the use of a CID getting app, but this requires the phone to be on and booted, which it cant do
Have you unlocked your bootloader? If you have, boot into the bootloader, enable fastboot and flash ClockworkMod Recovery, then install a ROM.
The bootloader doesnt seem to be unlocked, i'll look into it and post the results thanks
Ok by some miracle the phone is now booting but i want to ensure its stability I used the CID getter app and the CID is [VODAP102] please tell me where specifically to pop this in the readme file in the zip
I put the CID number in the android-info text file everywhere i saw that it needed a CID number and it goes to bootloader checks the .zip then return to the hboot main screen :/

Still havent made any progress, once again my plea is for assistance with this quandry
I also tried flashing ClockWorkMod Recovery and it put me back to the bootloader screen
Ok, I have been doing some reading and it seems this can be solved by making a goldcard and flashing from it, or by unlocking the bootloader, I tried both of these procedures with the relevant guides found on this site. I am now lost and confused to wether i should still try to fix it or jus throw it into a wall

I live in Jamaica but the HTC Wildfire S i got is from Vodafone Germany. I would allow you to do remote access but i wish to understand this process as I am getting a HTC G1 soon which I want to MOD the hell out off
You say that ever since Vodafone sent your phone back, your phone hasn't been booting ? First thing to do is send it back to them, if you're absolutely certain it's their fault.
