Does anyone have a link to a camera apk that can be used with Cyanogen 6.1 Stable that has an 8MP wide screen option?
This is my biggest peeve with CM, I will not use any other ROM but it KILLS me not to have wide screen shots with 8MP.
Anyone, please help!
+1 one for this +1 more if you find one that works with CM7 PREFERABLY the sense one....I really like the sense cam alot more than vanilla
Market app?
Which one?

I may be wrong, but if I can remember from my CM6 days, is there an option for a 6MP mode? I think one of the 6MP modes has widescreen. Because really it just cuts off pixels vertically to make the picture widescreen, thus resulting in a 6MP ish picture.
The pictures I've taken in widescreen on the sense camera listed as 8MP widescreen are actually "3264 × 1952 (6.4 MP)" according to Aperture.
Do you recommend any specific one?

Any of them should have 8 mp otherwise just download on wifi and return it quickly if it doesn;t...camera pro zoom fx has 8 mp.
Just installed the latest CM7 nightly. It should be under 6M Pixels (wide)

I just got my one x and I have to say the camera is most disappointing, it sucks it's basically unusable. I haven't upgraded my phone for ages the last one I had was the omnia 2, and I would say that one had a simillar camera, just with less useless features.
I don't own another good phone camera so I can't compare but from experience in apple stores, even the iPhone 4 camera is much better. The camera doesn try to focus when you press the shutter you don't even notice when was the image captured its like capturing screenshots from a live video feed instead of a real camera. The colors are oversaturated but if you turn it down a knotch it's undersaturated. 8mp sensor is pointless, the results almost never get better past 1mp. White balance sucks it often gets a purple tint. The live display is also terribly delayed unlike the iPhone 4s. The noise level gets crazy at times, reminds me of the ipad2 camera.
I don't know maybe I'm getting too used to my mirroless camera. I still love this phone though, even if it has no camera.

Please use one of the existing threads about the camera quality, we have already enough of them.
Closed.
So whether it be on the stock camera, or the aosp camera mod, why can't we get 16:9 aspect ratio? When I'm using the aosp mod the screen is showing the camera in 16:9 so why wouldn't the picture be saved that way? Is anyone working on a tweak for this?

It looks like stock has several 16:9 settings.
3264x1836, 2084x1152 & 1280x720.

Ah Ok. I guess I have only been looking at AOSP. 4.2 Camera.
This is a dumb question I know I see a difference in megapixel count and it seems to be wider on the sides with 3264x1836 versus 3264x2448 any real benefits to either? I'd like to hear from a professional. I've also noticed hurt quality images placing my device in its side to take photos versus in portrait it throws off resolution and makes things look weird, and since taking landscape I've noticed once transferred to a computer it doesn't need rotating anymore ! Lol big kid moment

What is a good app people are using in place of the default camera / camcorder in CM 10.1?? I just found it to be too basic. Thanks.
The stock one is actually pretty good.
Although not perfect, fastburstcamera lite will get you multiple images as fast as our hardware supports it. However we have a similar feature in our camera settings.
Also, hdr camera+ (or its lite counterpart) takes some nice hdr pictures with very adjustable settings! We have an HDR feature as well but this app has been an all-time fave of mine.
If you just want to "pretty up" your pictures, I recommend snapseed. It's got technology from Efex team from Photoshop Filters, acquired and rebranded by Google. It's been the best for me on Photoshop, it's that good on Snapseed as well.

Just wanted to add some extra credit.
The three images below are taken with an Epic 4G on CM10.1 The first, features the camera in CyanogenMod 10.1 without effort in adjusting your settings, the other is HDR Camera+, and the last is using the HDR mode in CM 10.1 with proper setting adjustments. If you take the time to make adjustments to accommodate your environment, it'll turn out great. All were taken in a dark room.

as you can see image quality is not very good. My wife galaxy Ace did batter Picture. Second photo was taken by front camera and is much much better.
Try to reset your camera app settings or use an alternative app to check if the problem is with hardware or software.

EDIT: Wait, do you mean that the picture is small and low quality? If so open the camera press the settings icon, scroll down until you see 'Resolution' then set it to the highest. Then scroll down and set the image quality to superfine.
Hi guys,
I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem, but when my phone switches from the main photo sensor to the super macro, there is a clear difference. There is a shift and the colors are not the same.
Here a video to show the problem :/

Same moment, same distance but two photos very different :
the first one is the main camera, and second one is the super macro. The switch is not natural

It's a different camera on the phone isn't it? The switch would be expected. The phone isn't doing everything with just one camera/lens.

This is correct. Super macro mode uses the ultra wide camera. Every 'zoom level' in super macro mode just crops image from the ultra wide camera.
The difference would not be too noticeable? Especially in terms of colors and angle!
