Is there a way i could change the color ???

You mean a software one? Because it depends on which keyboard you use and if a theme dev mode the apk
You post more questions about changing this out changing that. If you search you can see what's out there and why not just flash a theme. Alot of stuff your asking for can be found in a theme

Just ignore everything he says if its not helpful many people have talked to him about this but he continues to post useless "search and you will find what ur looking for" replys.
As far as I know you cant I think you would need to do a hardware mod inorder for this to work. I could be wrong dont take my word for it I searched and could not find anything. H

Why don't you go look at his other 5 threads asking how to change one element of the rom.

Haven't seen any talk of this.
Any chance of our devs taking a look at the code and seeing what we can do in terms of new kernels for the Epic?
Why do people insist on posting source from other phones. A source from another phone is completly useless untill we have are source.
Are source code will have are specific drivers needed. No one elses source. The only time a source code from another phone is worth anything is if theres mods cooked in and then we can modify are source with said mods.

It's not just 'another phone'.
The Vibrant is literally the same phone as the Epic, minus keyboard and camera...how different do you really think the source code is?
Do you think Samsung coded from scratch for every little different SGS...

4g ffc cdma key board. Can we build a rom and kernel with there source? Yes but we won't have a radio, 4g and both the ffc and keyboard won't work.
This had been discussed beefier with the i9000, fascinate and nexus s source wa posted here

I understand that and I respect all the work the devs do, but I don't understand why it hasn't been undertaken. I've been rusty in linux but if we don't get source for the epic soon, I might begin taking a look.
FWIW, Vibrant kernel's support the Epic FFC and I'm more than certain a whole host of people would be more than willing to run a custom kernel that didn't have working 4g or keyboard.
Moved to Q&A, as nothing here is actually being developed

The biggest thing is no working radio. what's the point of running a custom kernel on a phone if you can't make a phone call or text

It hasn't been undertaken because of the amount of work it is to reverse engineer that stuff. I know I would hate to spend a month or two getting it to work and then have an official update come out and make all my work pointless. The closest anyone has come is noobnl and the others trying to build CM6.
And also, you might be able to live without 4g and keyboard, but what about the radio? The Vibrant and Captivate are both GSM phones, not cdma.

And I want a million dollars and Jessica Alba, but that isn't happening either.
GingerBlue and GingerRed would be sweet. You'd think it'd be easy enough being that is for the vibrant and amosher13 already has the Gingerbread theme rockin'...i do know that a545nova has some themes that work, but they aren't quite complete. You can find them here. The Gingerbread Hell theme is close to what you're looking for. There are a few problems with it though. The "3G" and arrows are still green for some reason and so is the battery charged indicator that pops up in the left corner of your notification bar. It also is missing a lot of the red themed icons. Give it a try though, it is close to the GingerRed theme you're looking for...

Sorry to disappoint but it looks like no one is willing to at least not until we get an official release of 2.2
It shouldn't have ro be ported. Personally I've ran bootimages from other android phones
Android Creative Syndicate- From spontaneous ingenuity, comes creative brilliance
Porting animations aren't hard to do as long as they are the same size resolution or bigger than the resolution of the phone their being ported to. I couple script changes and scaling. I might look into this when I get some free time for ya. Can't promise anything though.

Threw a quick bootanimation of this together for ya. Keep in mind I edited nothing and merely pasted what frames were provided onto a 480x800 black background. Heck I didn't even test it, but should be good to go!

That animation looks really cool. But it's a Honeycomb ani. I wouldn't really feel right booting my phone to that ani when I'm on a leaked version of froyo. Then again, I'm a traditionalist

its very stable also she won't be disappointed.
Honestly I wouldn't install anything unless you plan on keeping it updated for her.
I did this to a couple family members phones and it got annoying when they would contact me sarong this and that are broke and there 3 versions behind on updates.

I have kept my wife's Epic on 2.1 just because of this fact.
I used to load custom roms on her old phone and it became a PITA trying to make sure everything was up to date, not to mention she never was quite understanding as to why it didn't "just work" when she came across a bug/"feature".
I bought the epic and kept it stock because I knew it would keep her happy for awhile. The only issues she's had on 2.1 is no flash and the GPS garbage. While they are both addressed in 2.2, i'm still not willing to flash DK28 and she's content to wait.
That being said, I have been very happy with The Epic Experience 2.0.07. It's very stable and runs great. If she "forced" me to update her Epic, I wouldn't have any reservations giving her this ROM.
I've really enjoyed ACS's roms as well but haven't tried their roms since Syndicate 1.0.2 (based off of DI18). They do great work.
Official 2.2 is coming soon....maybe...we hope....hang on a little longer and wait for a ROM that will "just work" unless she really has an understanding of what running a custom rom means.
Just my .02
Di18

The ROM out of the box. STOCK. Not only that, just wait for the release next week of Froyo assuming that is correct and will still come out.
My wife has a Blackberry, and even when I update the market she is like...what are you doing to my phone?
Women usually NEVER mess with anything on their phone. There are only a few of them out there like us who mess with things non stop.
If you install something and all hell breaks loose, you're going to have a handful trying to fix every problem she has. She may have none, but you are ALWAYS taking a chance with a ROM.
As you can see from the Dev thread, everyone has the same phone, but not everyone has the same WORKING phone. Some have no problems like myself, and some have 4 and 5 problems. You end up with that, you'll be fixing her phone and then hoping you do everything correctly. It is one thing to screw up YOUR phone, but hers? You'll be single if you do. lol
I would leave it alone.
Its funny how my sister is very technologically challenged but was able to jailbreak and maintain her iphone 4 all by herself and it works with no problems.
Id leave android to the curious/risky people and just get her an iphone4

Because ext4 was introduced after we had dk28. There is no point to developing on a dead os

Well it is. We have froyo about 75% of the epic users went to froyo. All the devs went to froyo. Ota is hopefully soon. So how can you say a 2 year old os ain't dead.

No it is more that I would like to see it done and try it out!
It shouldn't be all that hard to modify di18 to support ext4 as well. I think you just have to change the mounting of the partitions, assuming that the proper kernel module for ext4 is already there. Dameon87 would be the best one to ask about how to make a di18 kernel ext4 compatible.
They should totally make one!! Even tough official 2.2 should be out soon lol
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
yep lol, but soon enough we will have the best of everything.... or we better! then we can enjoy Froyo with all the goodies, and then start jonesing for Gingerbread, lmao.
Like mystery said its a waste of time when there is something new out, the developers try and try to make it the best it can be,
I was a bit skeptical to get on a non official release of froyo:
But once i saw apps and hulu which i couldnt have on 2.1,
and heard so much how bonsai rom was clean and fast and stable. I finally made that leap and im not looking back at all!!
i know have HULU, Andy 83 which is so sweet and Humans vs aliens which i am addicted too: and no issues what so ever,
Yes there was somethings that i needed to fix: like gps and mms but handcent is better anyway.
an old version of mixup i believe it was had ext4 support listed in the changelog. i was looking into this recently as well. i bet you it would be pretty damn fast. fastest thing out there. that is, until they release 2.2 ota and we do the same thing with jit.
