Hello everyone,
Does anyone knows which technology uses the Desires Z compass.
Is it a hall effect sensor (without raw magnetic pieces)?
I got a case with a magnetic closure and I m affraid with time that it might
demagnetize the sensor.
Thank you for your replies.
Thought I had seen this post all ready. Just checked your recent posts and I see you posted same question a couple of days ago.
You shouldn't douple post, it clutters up the forum. If you want to push your post back to the top of the forum, post a new reply in your original post, the usual thing to right is "bump 10 chars"
I'm afraid I can't anwser you question, have you tried google.

Thank you for your reply.
I wont double post again.... I just wanted to move my post into the Q&A section.
The sensor ref. isnt specified in the Z datasheet.
I havent found any piece of information about which sensor HTC uses.
It seems the G1 has a "hall effect" and I have read somewhere the HD2 has a "fluxgate".
Anyway, does anyone know if a digital compass can be damaged by a magnet with time?

Its a lethear slip on case. I free ball my phone until I am in the car and this case would work nice as a mount without having anything bulky in my car. (Suction cup mounts, ac mounts)
Why not post in the accessory section

Mystery - Not to sound rude, but the Announcement "Have a question???" clearly says "Please post all questions in the General Section."
But, posting in Accessories will probably get better answers.
I wasn't trying to be a **** either and I appla you for posting in general and not in development. But if you read the accessory section its all about accessories and there reveiws.

handslap for wrong section, but..... prolly not gonna find one like that for the epic because of the keyboard... while some people dont use it and all, marketing wise its not logical to sell a leather slip case that nerfs the hardware keyboard...... that beeing said maybe fascinate or mesmerize version can squeeze a epic in??
This thread made me laugh. Best wrong subforum post all month...but only because it was an honest mistake and I've read about 600 "When's froyo coming threads" in the dev section.
BTW, Mystery is now the official "XDA - Epic Phone Accessory Nazi"! If someone posts anything in dev about bedazzling a phone, I know just who to call.

Re: Forum Suggestion /"State of the Site"
i tried posting in where i felt was the appropreate thread linked to in the "state of the site" but it has already been closed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10673299
anyway i completely agree with many of the administrative decisions discussed there. i just have some suggestions to help those work, coming from my experience as a new member my first few days. (few weeks ago)
first of all how did i come here? google searches for questions i had about my captivate. after finding info on XDA few times through google, i realized this is a place i may want to check out more, but it took some looking around just to understand the BASIC POINT of what XDA was all about. Something that would really help people understand "THIS IS THE PLACE!" could use a short, straight to the point "sub-title" at the top of your webpage beside your xdadevelopers logo. something that reads like:
"the home for smartphone development, troubleshooting and ideas.."
the second small issue i want to bring up is new users not being able to post in development forums. WAIT!! I AGREE WITH THIS. BUT, when i was new here i was seeing not able to post in a dev forum talking about something i needed info on, and i was seeing other minor members in other threads getting "chewed out" for posting in a "developers" forum.
HERE WAS MY CONFUSION: www.xda-DEVELOPERS.com it appears to a noob straight off the google express that the whole site is developers...
i started looking for www.xda.com forums.xda.com ect....
it took a bit of searching around the site before i realized the "Developers" section that i couldnt post in was the SUB-forum of the Captivate sub-forum.
it was just a bit confusing until i saw the layout of the site for all the different phones and the sub catagories each had.
i hope these suggestions can bring forth some ideas that can help the integration of new members.
Thanks for your opinion
Yah, I really like your idea. We're going to consider it.
what ever happened to these suggestions?
dude i flet the same when i first got here! great recommendation!

Hi there,
I'm a noob and this is my first post so please don't rip in to me for this or for the fact that I am resurrecting an old post
I thought that it would be better to quote a post that reflected my feelings and possibly (hopefully) answer my questions.
I have an HTC Inspire that I imported into Australia from gsmnation.com as I liked the feature set of the phone and it was compatible with my carrier over here unlike the Desire HD that is available locally but not compatible with my carrier.
I have lurked around these forums as an unregistered user since having my phone and used the great advice shown to root it and put Android Revolution 4G 4.0 by mike1986 on it.
Have been very happy with it but now I want more.
In particular I would like to put Gingerbread onto it with Sense 3.5.
I had been following a thread about RCMix3d Runny v4.0.
I took the plunge and registered at XDA but now I can't even view the thread without getting the vBulletin message saying that members without a post count of 10 or less cannot post in developers threads.
Fair enough I say but surely we can at least view the threads.
I can view various other threads but i cant even find the one mentioned above.
Can someone tell me if the thread has been deleted (all 1264 pages according to Google cache search - I was up to page 127!).
Have tried searching using XDA's custom Google search feature but can't find the thread anywhere.
Any advice about whether the thread still exists or if I am doing something wrong that is not even letting me view the thread.

That thread was removed at the op's request which is why you aren't able to view it.

Ah Ok.
Thanks for the quick response...Very impressive.
Is there an alternative for this ROM or another sticky for that one around the place or has it been obliterated from XDA?
I have downloaded the ROM to my PC but if there is no longer any support for it on these boards then my quest for a nice GB ROM will have to continue.
I wonder how receptive capychimp is to noobs? I am in awe of the guy
Hi,
Noob here!
I read your "[New Members][Guide/Tour] Get the most out of XDA!!" and I thought it was great.
Being a noob, I couldnt press the thank you button, so I just thought I'd say thank you for taking the time and the effort to write the guide.
Thanks again!

Hi,
Apologies if this has already been covered or if this is the wrong location to post this.
I am a fairly junior member. Although I have been a member for 5 years or so, I have been more of a reader than a joiner.
I noticed today, that my posts number next to my user name dropped to 0. I may have not poted much in the past, however, not sure why they dropped to 0.
I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me.
Thanks.

Hmm, I cannot see that any of your posts have been deleted (moderators can see deleted posts), so I'm not entirely sure what's gone on...

I as well only see 3 posts, which were posted today. I will notify the admin of this
@ miller-might This can happen if you made all or nearly all of your posts in one thread. If the thread is then removed / merged / deleted then the posts can disappear completely.
If you think you may have posted in a single thread, then give us an idea what the thread may have been called or it's subject if you don't remember the title. However, I should point out that as others above have said, if the posts still exist the Moderators would be able to see them even if deleted.
Mike
Many thanks for the help. I think they may have been originally in the same thread as at the time I was following developments and roms for my the HTC touch pro.
Not to worry, I was just a little confused, but makes more sense now.
Thanks again.

This is a question, so should be in the "Q&A" forum, not here - although I'm sure a Mod will move it quickly enough.
I'm not going to answer your question as it took me less than 10 seconds and Google to find the answer - so I'm sure you can do the same.
Read the XDA Rules and search before asking ...
excuse me dear......
I had opened many tabs from different sub forum of here... and I mistaked about correct place...
please move it... thanks...
I had searched many in google... but i didn't find answer...

Exactly the same link I put under the word "Google" on my post - if the OP had been bothered to look.
I get pi$$ed off with people on here who claim to have searched - when it is so obvious that they haven't at all.
What it comes down to is they actually don't know how to word the search correctly so as to get a decent result.

Sir,
I know how to search and az I told I searched before open the topic :|
but it's obscure :|
read this page:
nfcworld.com/nfc-devices/motorola-droid-razr/
-----------------------
The Motorola Droid Razr has not been advertised as an NFC handset, but a teardown has revealed it carries an NXP PN544 NFC controller chip.
-----------------------
and comments that is it's below:
Q: Yea, but are we saying that with ICS the RAZR will have NFC enabled?
A: I don't think anyone knows the answer to that yet...
So........
you don't have to learn I do :|
but it's obscure, so I ask it

I think that you have answered your own question as well as anybody on XDA possibly can. Nobody knows - although the chip is in the phone, it may never be accessible to software, whether it is GB, ICS or JB.

So if I'm reading all of this correctly, you're magic 'Google search'(Complete with the extra douche topping of your little animated superiority video) produced no actual answers? God forbid that someone comes onto an Android developer's message board to find out if someone here has an inside scoop, so to speak.
Not everybody is as mighty with the Google as you are, not every Google search returns the same result. You have to word your searches correctly, and some people are bettet than others. It used to be that you came onto message boards and could ask a question like this and the answer would be 'Well, it looks like the phones have the proper hardware, but it's going to require an OS level bit of code before anyone can use it, and nobody has given an actual timeframe for when this will be done, if ever.'. Now, it's a bunch pf snarky A-holes trying to see who can deliver the killing blow.
It was a legitimate question, and this was a legitimate forum to post it in. Your special Google search still didn't really answer the question, and it didn't answer the question from the perspective of Android developers, who would be MY first resource if I were looking, too. If you don't like the question being asked, then for God's sake, don't read the fracking thing. There is no law of physics that dictats that you can't pass up a post on here without reading it. I don't really understand people like you who get their panties in a twist because someone posted a question on a message board. How did this question being posted here impact your life? Me, U can't stand condescending rude people, especially in places where people go for help, so I like to call them out on it.

I'm awfully sorry to have offended your sensibilities, but who the f**k do you think you are? You sign up to XDA and the very first post you put is to resurrect a thread that is 3 1/2 months old - not to contribute anything useful, but simply to try and pick a fight?
I actually commented on the OP predominantly because it was clearly in the wrong forum - that is what the Q&A or the device specific forums exist for.
I also ended the thread with;-
I think that you have answered your own question as well as anybody on XDA possibly can. Nobody knows - although the chip is in the phone, it may never be accessible to software, whether it is GB, ICS or JB.

which is no different to what you just posted. It is obvious that the OP doesn't use English as his first language, so trying to get all technical is of no use. The OP 'Thanked' me for my post, so he obviously had no problem with it, and he hasn't been back on here since as he is one of the many who sign up here, ask one question and are never seen again.
As for your comment about the XDA Noob Video, I didn't create that, but I personally feel that everyone who joins XDA should be forced to watch the entire thing and read the whole page of forum rules as well so that this place was able to keep to the goodness it has achieved and maybe lose a lot of the people who sign up nowadays simply to demand answers as they feel they are 'entitled' to an immediate response from people who help out on here for free in gaps from real life.
Righto, that's enough. Question answered, playtime over.

Hey i just got myself a m9 and wanted to root it.
So i searched the forums here, and half the tutorials, info and links that i can find seem to be outdated.
Between the bootloader unlocking not even having the same name, the links not working... There's no fastboot option, and the info as to what you should do in that situation is, zero.
Would be nice if someone knew a bit more about this and could make an updated version for an actual m9 with android 7.0.
New around here, sorry if i'm not supposed to post here, a lot of this seems a bit confusing and frustrating imo
Ps: i've downloaded everything i could find and still nothing to do, even fastboot won't work.

Just being desperate and looking for any help. Kinda tired of reading, searching and finding one outdated post after the other, read through 50 pages for nothing etc... If someone could just point me in the right direction. It would be easier. But it seems like people mostly get annoyed by posts that ask questions and rather tell them to read a readme, or nothing. But no help. I'm sorry. I'm just too lazy to read a readme in every "discussion" to see if this is the right place or is there a more appropriate place to post this troubleshooting? help? q&a? htc? one m9? how many do i have to read? you get the idea? But you probably know so much about everything that this seems normal to you and you just don't understand how everyone else doesn't know as much as you. And how someone could dare post a question in the wrong discussion.
Either way, i'm going to ask to get this post deleted since it's useless I might make a updated tutorial with working links some day.
Cheers, thanks for the great input though...
A simple "Hey man just letting you know that you're posting in the wrong place, you should post it here *insert link*, good luck with your phone " wouldn't be too much or too hard to ask for? instead of some arrogant "read the readme, ok bye" like thnx for nothing.
Maybe you didn't bother reading this part and thus you didn't have any "understanding" for my situation "New around here, sorry if i'm not supposed to post here, a lot of this seems a bit confusing and frustrating imo "
Which of the links in the ReadMe thread isn't working and which part of it is outdated? It contains everything you need to know. That's why it's pinned at the top of the general and the Q&A section (in contrast to all the other outdated guides you mentioned) and that's why it's (literally) called ReadMe thread. You asked for someone writing an up to date guide and I asked whether you saw the existing one. That's it.
