Hello dear XDA
Well after finding a Lockscreen and a HTC Hub modifiing thread, i think we need a ringtone and sound thread as well to place all important info, sounds and ringers.
If there is already one, which i haven't found yet, mods, please merge.
Here are some Notification sounds i would like to share.
Big respect and thanx go to Tomal and eelco_akker for making them availiable.
Before coming to WP7, i was still using my trusty rusty HTC Universal. Thanx to the fantastic work of Tomal and friends, It was still very usable with Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5.
great device!
Now with chevron 7 ringtone manager we can customize sounds as well as ringtones on Windows Phone 7.
Just name the Alarm sound of your choise to Alarm-01 though Alarm-10 depending on which one you would like to replace (more here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938106)
for SMS and Email notifications its Alert-01 through Alert-10.
Just remember, its not possible as of yet to add sounds and notifications. Its possible however to replace existing ones!
Be sure to replace the ones you really don't want! Alternatively, after finding the ones you would like to replace in Windows dir., copy them to my documents/ringtones.
that way you can keep them, and copy them back to Windows dir if needed.
I have tested all this with attached Notification sounds, and it works great.
Importante Note! Alert and Alarm files MUST be converted to .wma format as requested by Chevron Ringtone Manager!
Ringtones work as mp3 apparently.
Try it out and post yours
thanks i can get some inspiration from it
does anybody have the wp7 lock screen and unlock sounds?
thanks

The supplied ringtones are useless. I've lost count of how many calls I have missed - I just can't hear them. To me - all the latest ringtones are nowhere as good as the old fashioned 'ring-ring' that used to be standard on most cellphones.
Anyone got a good replacement ringtone, one that is loud, simple (ring ring or similar) and easily available ?
Thanks
Mark
Something like this?
You can also edit a wav file and crank up the volume

Very nice - but I wouldn't call that simple
Whatever happened to the goodl old fashioned ring-ring ?
Mark
try this
I had the same problem, and my solution was to modify the "Old Phone" tone (taken from an SE T610) to a "double-ringtone", put it 6dB louder as original and converted it to .wma. I'm very happy now, since I use this ringtone I've the most time the volumecontrol 2 dashes down the maximum!

simple basic ringtone
I see there are a few posts with tones in files. If your looking for something to download one option is http://www.justringring.com
Hope it helps, Jon
I think the coolest thing to do is open a mp3 with audacity and chop it down a little bit then use a mp3 encoder to downsample it so its smaller, then encode it to WAV. It's so cool to hear Survivalism by Nine Inch Nails blast out of my phone when I get a call. Not simple, but the result is just AWESOME.
oldphone, oldphone2, btdoldphone, oldstyle............ Why only old style tones can be better and louder???? post some new style tones as well..
Hi
Does anyone know how to set mp3 as ringtones. I have the latest version of Windows Media 10.
Dhruv
You might want to try this little tool.... let me know if it works on the Blue Angel....
Good luck,
Frankman
it didnt work
not work
it wont work in my MDA III
Instruction
Hi,
That's very simple.
1) Open Explore from active sync on your computer.
2) Go to My Windows Mobile-Based Device\Windows\Rings
3) Copy your MP3 files here.
4) Then go to Sounds setup in your Blue Angel and select the ring tone with the name of one of your MP3 files.
5) Enjoy.
HI
I tried this on my orange m1000 with diamond on it and it doen't work. You can hold down you stylus over the mp3 and set it as a ring tone but it stil don't work. Is the utility list above supposted to create an icon or something?
Thanks
Gus

So when moving from AKU 3.3 to vanilla 6, I noticed some of the original ring tones were missing. One example is "oldphone". I know some others are missing as well, but do not recall the specific names. I extracted my SPB backup made under AKU 3.3, but for some odd reason it did not contain that specific tone. Is it hiding somewhere? I cant figure out why it wasnt part of the backup (it seems all other tones are there). Is there some way to decompile the 3.3 (or prior WM5) roms in order to extract those legacy tones?
Thanks in advance for assistance.

Can you tell me if the guitar ringtone is in WM5? I know at one time I had an electric guitar sounding ringtone..

That sounds familiar - I think it's in 5, but it is not in 6 (at least not in the original vanilla 6). Perhaps some kind soul will make the old tones available to those of us that miss them.

I kept all ringtones from WM5. Tell me where to upload to - I'll do it tomorrow.
Best regards,
I'd like to get my hands on a few old ring tones as well.
If you email me the file, I will host it on my server for everyone to access.

Here you go, all ringtones, alarm tones etc for WM6, the 'old phone' is included with them in the Crossbow sounds folder, have fun!
Edit:- Roaring Guitar included amongst them!

Much appreciated!
So I'm curious, why did 'oldphone' come with my original HTC rom, yet crossbow was missing it? I would have figured it would be the other way around... Unless the 'vanilla' 6 was so stripped down that it lacked the additional rings...?
How are you liking that Black edition, BOZ? I'm planning to switch over just as soon as I can figure out a proper way to backup / restore my call history (so I don't lose them during the switch).
Thanks again.

All the WM6 roms are cooked bare bones roms and they are put together by the developers on here, so they choose which ringtones etc are on the roms, they pick only a few on the assumption that people will have their own to add anyway, and every bit of space saved is valuable. HTC use a fixed list and apply them to every WM5 rom, so it is easy for them to appeal to the masses.
I am very pleased with this rom and it runs perfectly with no problems whatsoever after applying all fixes and patches, it is much faster than WM5. I really notice when switching between applications, TomTom 6 which I use a lot is very fast now, do not forget that I have also upgraded the radio for a much improved reception with the phone.

Thanks for posting this! I meant to copy all of the ringers off of my device before upgrading the ROM. However, after I did a backup, made sure all the documents I needed had been synchronized with my computer (so I'd have them in at least two places), and got everything else ready I never even got the feeling like I was forgetting something...not until I went to change my ringtone...
Thank again!
Thanks for the WM5 tones. I was thinking of downgrading to get a copy of the tones. You saved me couple of hours

Hi there,
I can't figure out how to change the regular/standard alarm sound to one of my own. I did manage to change the SMS sound to one of my own, so I thought that the procedure would be the same. Putting the mp3 in the \Windows directory, but that doesn't work.
I did see that all the alarm sounds are either .WMA or .WAV, so I changed my alarm sound to a .WMA and put it again in the \Windows directory, doesn't work either!!!
I have this personal wake up sound with my name in it and I'd like that to be my alarm sound, does anyone know how I can do that?
Where do I have to put the audio file?
Any help is much appreciated!
Rgds,
Albert
Edit: I just tried adding the .WAV audio and now I can see it in the alarm sounds, but when I chose my sound it just jumps back to the default sound, not letting me chose my personal sound. Oh this is so frustrating........I hope someone can help me......
you can try Pocket Wakeup... with it you can use mp3 files... it's so cool!

Your file can only be so long, not sure what the link is but shorten it, that should fix your problem

...or pTravelAlarm!
Thanks for the replies.
I'll give those 2 programs a try since I don't want to shorten my audio file......
It's 6-7 seconds long (don't really remember) and basicly it's a tune that says my name and tells me that's it's time to wake up.....hehe...
I'll let you guys know if I managed to fix my prob.....
Edit: Ok I just installed pTravelAlarm v2.7.3 and [MOD EDIT: Don't Mention WAREZ]
Now I've my mp3 file as my alarm......perfect!!
I couldn't find the pocket wakeup to download........I got this french site and it didn't work.....
but don't need it anymore........pTravelAlarm works great and I like the fact that it uses
big number and the stop and snooze buttons are big enough to push with the finger.
Thanks Athanaso77

Can you upload pTravelAlarm?
Cheers.
Thanks for the file!!
I tried to upload the cab file but I keep getting an error........I tried to compress (rar) the cab + keygen into 1 file but it says incorrect file or something like that.....
So here is the keygen for v2.7.3, just download it and use this keygen.

FIRST WARNING: WAREZ NOT ALLOWED.. NEXT TIME IS BANVILLE...
Is it possible to use my own MP3's as a ringtone/alarm?
Tried copying them into all kinds of directories and didn't get to choose them in TF3D
create a folder on your storage card called my ringtones (same name as the folder on the phone) put them in there and they will appear in the ringtone list
Thanks that worked for the ringtones.
Now only the alarm isnt cooperating. Any ideas?
try to copy the mp3 to your \Windows Folder
I think it has to be a Wav file, and I think there is a maximum file size too, but I am not 100% sure.
Well thats a step back... my S710 could do MP3's no problem :-/

Oh well at least on the kaiser I think it does have to be WAV, and they are both wm 6.1, maybe it is because the S710 runs wm standard, or maybe th touch pro 2 does play MP3, but then again I did say I wasn't completely sure....
Have a google for KaiSoft MP3Alarm, it will do the trick for you, and allows you to browse to any file.
Cheers,
Beasty
I got myself Klaxon
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-klaxon.html
Supports MP3's FULLY integrated in TF3D. And has some bonus abilities like shaking the phone=off, snooze = turn phone over (each with feedback via vibra) etc
Its even "thumbflick friendly"
I believe the development of Klaxon has been cut off. I think you would be better off with G-Alarm (though, that too has turned to payware recently, but you can still get the free 1.5.1 version that works perfectly - at least it does for me) which has all the same functionality as Klaxon and then some.

To change the ringtone you just have to put your favourite mp3 in windows/rings (on a German phone). Doesn't work for text messages though. On other windows mobile phones, you had to convert the mp3 in wav or wma, put it in the same place and they would show up in the text message alert list (I've done it myself and it worked). Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work for my tp2 right now. Any ideas, especially for individual text message alerts?
