Im so impressed with the SGII compared to other devises it just continues to amaze http://pocketnow.com/smartphone-news/comparison-iphone-4s-vs-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-video
Wow, I have to admit, I'm impressed
I have just gone from the HTC Sensation to Samsung GS2 and overall the samsung is better especially now its overclocked to 1504 but the sensation had an awesome screen for viewing and i loved the curved face.....and the very missed led.
There is more to it than who can open the applications faster, etc.
I owe a epic 4g touch, so I am partial towards this device. That being said, the iphone 4s was neck and neck with it, and possible as fast if you account for the longer animations.
The iphone 4s processor is clocked way lower than the gs2....it is trade off for battery life. While samsung was worried about being the faster android first and foremost...it appears that apple knew their device was more than fast enough...so they upped the battery life.
Sadly, there is no comparison between the graphic chips in these two phones. The iphone 4s blows away the mal 400...and is only bested by the high clocked version in the ipad 2.
The screen on the gs2 is big and beautiful...while the clarity is better on the iphone 4s thanks to the pixel density (this is true...not in the same way that the evo3d owners were claiming their screen was better...it is not...I just sold my evo3d....apple has a great screen here). So it comes down between big and beautiful...vs smaller and clear while still pretty.

Did you miss all the posts about poor battery life and yellow/green screen tint? Anandtech really lol
Have you missed all the post about yellowed tint and poor battery life is the gs2 forums? What about battery life and Los signal in our very own epic touch forums?
No phone is perfect. I don't see how that contradicts or supports what I said.
did anyone else see the other 10000 threads about the same thing???

Besides what was already said, you are all falling Epicly, as this is not the SGII section. Close but no cigar, this is the E4GT section. LOL
Any chance a moderator could fix them up?

I know which section it is....i owe the phone.
Our phone has had it share of problems, as does most phones. Is it that hard to see the point I am making.
I love the epic 4g touch...amazing phone. Just to make that clear. But that doesn't mean one can't be unbiased and not act like a fanboy.

Yep, clear as mud. Did you look around at all before starting this thread? As was already pointed out, there have already been plenty of these type of posts in this section.
That article has nothing to do with this phone no matter how similar you think it is. And there is a SGII section that it would be fine for posting in.
If you're looking to create a new discussion on the iphone topic, you're not, it's been beat to death and everyone is tired of them. You like the phone? Great, go get one. You can join MartyLK and his quest to win XDA over and all become crapple fanboys. Check out his argument in the general section, or every other thread that is crapple vs. anything.
And I'm sorry that you "owe" the phone, that's kinda weird. LOL

I am not the op I was just responding to his post.
If you read it, it should be evident that I was not promoting the iPhone or the galaxy s2 . I really not sure I understand the argument against my post. Maybe you didn't read it? Never the less....enough of the bs....I feel like this forum is full of children.
I own the phone....and don't give a damn about what phone Is better because I thoroughly enjoy the epic touch. But again....everyone's response here is odd...and pitiful to be honest.
Anyway, take care.

Sorry about that, I was in a hurry and at work. I could have sworn I saw your name as the OP.
Anyway, show me a side by side of the E4GT and the iJunk and that's fine. But what point is there putting the SGII in this section?
And as far as people who love the iJunk so much, the majority are paid by crapple to be fanboys. They either don't want to lose the sponsorship, are getting perks, have some kind of vested interest or otherwise in crapple. I just haven't seen an unbiased review on any of crapples products. Here's a fact about biased supposedly unbiased reporting: http://www.computerworld.com/s/arti...se_the_smartphone_IQ_once_again?taxonomyId=15
Read on down to paragraph 4 of that article. "A new antenna design addresses notorious dropped-call problems that plagued iPhone 4." I bet when he was reviewing the iJunk 4 he never mentioned that it was plagued with anything, ESPECIALLY dropped calls. They're all a bunch of phony, fake, biased and paid for reviews that lead smart, non tech savvy, people into buying crap.

dude you gotta realize how annoying it is to see the same threads over and over and over. A quick search of iphone4s vs et4g would have yielded you a handful of threads already open about the same topic. Anyone who has any type of forum etiquitte knows to search before posting, on top of that, the OP picked the sorest topic to post about. iPhone vs anything does nothing but turn into a flame war ending with name calling. Every forum...every thread.

Agreed, I was just replying to the thread. I did not create it.
So I feel like I have a decent unbiased comparison here so flaming aside I will put my 2 cents in. I have owed every android phone sprint has offered, along with a few att and tmobile devices because of my job. I posted in the other thread about who was jumping to the 4s and said I was not but my wife was because of a program she needed that worked flawlessly on ios but not so much on android....
After day 3 of her having the iphone she said she would rather have my e4g over her 64gb iphone that we bought OUTRIGHT! So of course I asked her why and being not so techy she said "I like it better". So we switched phones for a day and this is what I came up with....
Clarity of the iphone screen is awesome from little tiny fonts to zooming in and not seeing pixelation. Camera was comparable to my eye after zooming in, no printing though. That being said I have owed every iphone except the original and they all are the same, more or less, software wise. After using the 4s I returned it for a second e4g. I still think the iphone has the most forgiving and accurate keyboard but the screen size on the e4g makes up for that easily. App quality is nice on the iphone but android has done well in that category now as well. Siri is boarderline creepy...my wife asked random personal questions and it answered "I try to stay satisfied but this is about you not me" lol...but does its job well however I will never get used to any voice recognition, ios or android.
So all in all, I won't ever really down technical innovation, but after using both I am much more content with the e4g....and the $920 after taxes that came with the return. Like I said, just my 2 cents though.

Honestly I think posts like these are a bit pointless. You're on an Epic 4G Touch forum, what do you think the majority of the responses are going to be?
Not sure if any of you guys have heard of The Verge yet, but its the new tech blog type of venture Joshua Topolksy (the Engadget guy). I like it but we will see if they become Apple fanboys over there too. I started a thread regarding LoS just to get the issue out there. Here is the link! Blow this sheeeeit up!

Ya know, it bugs me that every little issue with the new iPhone is plastered all over every tech blog on earth and yet our phone gets nothing mentioned about the major issues it has for some people. Hope something comes of this.

Lol the The Verge/This is My Next was started by the exodus of the Apple fanboys from Engadget.
Engadget's coverage of Android got significantly more even-handed after they left.
If you ask me, the only people who think Topolosky and crew are Apple fanboys are Android fanboys. Joshua's daily phone is the Nexus S which he's been very happy with, plus he had some fantastic coverage of ICS. (and was very impressed with ICS)

First the Android fanboys get mad because Engadget posted an article about how the Evo 4G had a capped frame-rate. (remember that EVO owners?? I sure do) They said, "how come Engadget only posts negative stuff about Android and not about the iPhone??" Never minding the fact that "Antenna Gate" got loads of coverage. Now you're complaining about them not covering the LOS issue?
Oh well, nothing to do but laugh I guess.

Yes I'm complaining. The iPhones issues will be addressed much faster because the average person can read about them anywhere and that puts pressure on Apple to fix a device that "just works". Our issues are listed here and on Sprint forums so the rest of the world doesn't know that Samsung and Sprint drag their feet with important updates. There's no pressure on these companies except from people they've already taken money from. Apple has to uphold an image and it will. Samsung and Sprint just have to keep blaming each other and putting off what they surely can fix.

No worries guys, didn't mean my post to come across so snippy. And I agree that it would be great to get some coverage of this issue (though I personally haven't had it yet.. knock on wood). I also completely agree with poppygt that Samsung/Sprint will just blame each other until someone puts some heat on them.
I love Android, but getting support for anything more than the most basic of functions is the one thing that is really frustrating. When you find a bug, there's almost nothing you can do except post about it on the internet. The problem is that there are 3 throats to choke: the carrier, the manufacturer, and Google. None of them is really setup to do much. Both the carrier and the manufacturer just want to get you off the phone as quickly as possible. Their only way to really help you is to replace your phone, which is usually pointless when dealing with a bug. I guess Google kinda/sorta has a support site where you can file bugs, but it's not exactly easy to find and it's hard to know if anyone ever looks at them, let alone fix them.

If everything was vertical within Google/Android like Apple is, it would be a lot less of a headache for us. Funny thing is, the sales for Android still don't really suffer even with bugs on the manufacturing side of things. It has the "bad ass" factor, haha. Majority of users (not us XDA folks) don't even realize the bugs, they will think its their phone and like you said just get a new one so that in itself prevents issues from getting more attention because everyday consumers don't really think of it as a bug but the phone itself.
Anyways, I love android. The end. haha.

That whole "mysterious space age" stuff isn't exactly attractive to the mainstream market. Maybe only techies and sci-fi lovers.
On topic: I thought the commercial was a little limiting (doesn't show everything about the device), but yes, something like THAT does attract the mainstream market a little more.

Only Borg type people are iphone users. Plus your supporting shady business practice.
The biggest turn off is the tiny screen. Ive also told people I couldnt deal with such a small screen.
Why do we have to argue/debate with people over this? My brother and his gf both have iPhone 4S's, I don't give a ****, that's their choice. I don't get the constant competing with users of cell phone OS's.

I've used both platforms extensively and there are definitely strengths and weaknesses to them both. The arguments back and forth can be pretty funny especially on forums like Engadget. The statement that iPhone users are dumb though is one argument that I find ridiculous. Out of all my friends i am definitely the most tech literate. I flash roms, theme my phones, even write some applications. A lot of the people I know that use iPhones are doctors and lawyers, but don't have that much interest or the time for technology so simple is good. To think you are smarter than someone because you can switch out your launcher or overclock your phone is pretty stupid to begin with. Most of this is just effort. You are probably kidding, so not directed at you... this just always comes up in these "discussiond" especially when folks starting getting personal. Cheers.

(Me) Tell me what you love about it.
(Him) It works when I need it. Plus my laptop iPad and phone can be sync together It's easier to use The apps are better made And more stable
From the official iPhone killer.
The only valid reason is the sync between Ipad,MacBook,iPhone
Otherwise its not, the quality of the apps is dependent on the app developer, and they both work and do about the same things.
I don't mind people preferring iOS, I don't but if he does that's fine.

One acquaintance's argument for getting his iPhone was "because it just works"...I couldn't respond to that meat filled rock solid argument, so I got the E4GT.
In the end it is certainly preference between how the device will scale over time and I would get bored with an app drawer interface real quick!
I like to compare iPhones and Androids in the same manner as I would compare model airplanes. One one hand, you have the Snap-It model airplanes (iPhone) that are easy, you don't have to use glue, virtually no skill is needed, and it looks like it does on the box, as the manufacturer intended, it just works. I like them for their simplicity.
On the other hand, you have higher level model airplanes that require some knowledge of cutting, sanding, gluing, and attention to detail (Android). In the hands of someone skilled (like many on this forum), it will pretty much substitute for the real thing after you've added all of the custom touches. I like them for the patience needed to fine tune every detail.
Of course, there are those in the middle who like a little bit easy, but also like to feel as if they've actually done something worth their while (iPhone jailbreakers, beginning rooters). These can go either way, they can look really good, or they can look like garbage. Two different worlds, two different crowds.

It's been a week since he wasted his money and downgrading. So I will see and let you know

I second that, well done on the analogy.
A guy sold his saws-all and got a hand saw, I asked him why he said "It just works"
Its like throwing out the bait caster reel (yes there is a learning curve) and using a bamboo rod to fish, meh "It just works"
"It just works" is a reason when you have no reason.
I hope they have a healthy credit card (for the app store) and good eyesight (screen). That's what it boiled down to for me. You should start laying wagers on how long it will take until they come back to Android.
If the iPhone works better for him, then great. It is a phone, not a competition. There is no reason to be offended if someone likes a different phone than you.

"it just works" is a pretty valid excuse for any idiot to purchase an iphone.

To add to that, some people prefer iPhone bcoz its easy to use. Well if they think they are children/90 year olds then surely iPhone is great for them!

Its funny my 3 year old daughter knows her way around mine and her sisters' android phones.
I played around with my brother ifail it feels to restricted to me. Can't do half the basic things my epic can do. The fact it has a only built in battery is a no no for me. I can't see my self ever owing an ifail. Apple is just a phone wanting to be an Android.

Well He is correct about the sync smoothness. Everything iCrap makes has seamless sync. Thats all iCrap has going for it compared to Android. Not to mention the proprietarinism of iCrap.
BTW, ask him what does he do when he needs more ROM or a replacement battery. Also ask him how many Widgets he is using.

this is stupid because he obviously doesn't have a care in the world about roms, widgets, or replacement batteries. not a single **** is given.
i get faster data speeds than iphone than the epic touch. Something is wrong with the modem/radio on the touch
Honestly, from switching over to the iphone 4s this past weekend, iphone 5 here i come.

when he said ROM, i think he meant Read-Only Memory (storage space).
this is a huge issue at my sprint store. people bringing back 16GB iphones constantly, "doesn't hold as much as my android did, need a bigger iPhone"
i don't take offense when people want an iPhone. it is a very well built device. but i do have a few problems with their decisions
1. It is NEVER based on fact. its based on whats popular, how awesome their friends told them it was. same with the htc evo. it was a great phone no doubt, but FACTUALLY, the samsung epic 4g had better hardware. people just knew the evo name.
2. I ask each and every customer what the reason is for choosing the iPhone, so that we may determine together what is the best choice for them. the ONLY viable reason, "i already own a mac and an iPad". Wonderful, let me ring that up for you. if you already have heavily invested into the Apple Ecosystem, there is no reason to have an android. but most of them dont have one. its cool? thats a pretty hefty investment for cool...
3. "it just works" or "it doesn't have any problems". FALSE. last week, i had a customer tell me his iphone was superior to my E4GT because "iphones NEVER freeze, but every android ive seen does". The argument was concluded in .08 seconds on google. every device has its problems. at my store, there have been MORE iphone problems than E4GT problems (we are also a repair store). at a sister store, just the opposite. so "working better" is NOT a valid argument...
4. Apple's business ethics rival that of Enron. a poster said earlier that its not a competition. you're right, because apple CANT compete. you can gauge their level of fear in relation to the lawsuits and doctored photos they have. how many lawsuits between samsung lg htc motorola? they just try to outperform... not put each other out of business. and if they DID put each other out of business, it would be ''may the best man win''. not, ''shut em down because im scared to lose sales''.
5. finally, if youre ok getting on board with a completely closed OS, thats fine. but then, my average customer, wants to know how to make their iphone do what their buddys s2, RAZR, or htc can do. (see uninformed decision). i just dont want anyone telling ME what to do with MY stuff once ive paid for it. would you buy a tv from a company that told you what channels to watch? i wouldnt. but if so, get an Apple TV LOL

have a great day!
