Can i update my existing the Official ROM released for TILT2 by HTC - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have a HTC Tilt2 (ATT) and there was a official ROM that was released for this mobile.
But i was just wondering if i can update this... Iam NOT using this mobile now. However i unlocked mobile with official unlock code provided my HTC / ATT.
Now if i update this latest version of ROM (1.something to 2.10.502.4), then will i have to unlock the phone again ??? I was just wondering if i need a new unlock code or the same unlock code that was provided to me earlier should work here.
I am sure it should work (my assumption - as long as IMEI of the mobile is same, unlock code should work). But just wanted 2 take a confirmation before i get my mobile updated.
Can some expert advise on this ???
ALSO can somebody tell me how to take a back of all contacts data / music data / video data from this mobile and restore it after getting it updated to a new ROM ?

Are you using the latest version? If so there's your problem... no voice support. You need to go back and download the previous beta version which supports voice calls on a Hermes. You need Beta version 2.2.0.20. PM if you can´t find it.

Boy, that's strange. I'm running 2.2.0.20 under Black Shadow with no problems (over wi-fi and 3G). I presume Skype don't realise that they have made this mistake with the latest build?
Simply meaningless!!

Skype is surely aware of the problem. Although they are still using pictures of skype running on TYTN on website, they have the following explanation in knowledge base. I think a guy from samsung did stg bad to someone from skype I can't think of a rational explanation for this situation. Supporting a processor in a beta release (which works smoothly) and realizing that it did actually not support that processor in the next release, Bull****.
From Sype:
"If you have a device with ARM 9 v4 Processor for example: 32bit Samsung: S3C2410, SC32442 and S3C2440, or IntelStrong ARM SA-1110, then calling is not supported by Skype for Windows Mobile in the 2.2 Gold Release. However, you will still be able to use chat to keep in touch with your contacts.
Below is a list of devices that only support chat. Note that this list is not complete as new devices are released all the time. All devices identical in construction to the ones below will support chat functionality:
• E-TEN Glofiish X500
• E-TEN InfoTouch M500
• E-TEN InfoTouch M600
• E-TEN M700
• Hewlett-Packard iPAQ rx5900 Series
• Hewlett-Packard rx4000 Series
• Hewlett-Packard iPAQ rx3700 Series
• HTC TyTN
• HTC P3600
• i-mate JASJAM
• Qtek 9600
• SPV M700
• MDA Vario II / v1605
• 8525 / M3100 / Trion
• Dopod D810
• Dopod 838
• Dopod P100
• Acer n311
• Mitac Mio P550 Digi-Walker"
Hold onto that working beta release!
The crazy thing is that it works pretty well - I've had "proper" conversations with someone from Spain (from the UK).
An explanation to why skype does not support V4
Quotation from skype forum from user Touche
"This is my 5 cents: If you look at the About dialog on the Skype for Windows Mobile 2.2, you'll notice that it says that it uses the HelloSoft voice engine. This engine does not seem to support the ARM v4 instruction set, since it crashes on all devices with that CPU. They probably use some of the v5 specific instructions in order to speed up the codec. The older versions of Skype for Windows mobile used the GIPS voice engine (also according the about dialog), which worked on almost all devices, but on the other hand was much slower than the HelloSoft engine.
Now, it seems that Skype for all other platforms has stopped using the GIPS voice engine and migrated to Skype's own one instead. That might be the reason why GIPS is no longer used in the Windows Mobile devices."

I have WM6 Black Majik on my 8525 (cingular) and I downloaded the version from the link in this thread and installed it however I am unable to make phone calls I was using 2.2.0.18 and I could make calls only on Wifi but not on 3G so I tried this one - with this one calling is grayed out completely Any ideas? Maybe I need to keep using .18 but need something to get it to work on 3G? I am able to browse the web with no probs.
PS - never mind, a reboot seems to have fixed the issue

difference btw. mobile 6 from rogers or original HTC?

hello everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the mobile 6 upgrade provided by rogers and the generic by htc?
It might be helpful to qualify or set some criteria for the comparison.
Also (afaik), there are two HTC ROM`s.
1) T-Mobile WM6
2) HTC Generic A
3) Rogers
4) HTC Generic B
i just mean as to whether anyone knows if rogers has removed any features of WM6 in their upgrade, compared to the generic A (or B)
I have used the HTC, Tmobile and Rogers ROMs. the T-Mobile one is slow, and has a ton of tmobile branding on it. The HTC is faster, supports bigger micro SD cards and looks prettyer - in addition to a few tweaks such as the JOGGER... The Rogers is the one im using now, and has a ugler default home screen/graphics compared to the HTC one, but seems a lot faster.
As far as fewer features, the HTC is always up-to-date with the Rogers a bit behind; as far as I can gather from reading these forums. But the tmobile seems *far* behind and is a real pain in the ass.
In short, my best experence so far has been Rogers. The Rogers and HTC are similer in features, and the t-mobile lacks a lot of the newer stuff.
Specifics
Hi, I too want to ask the same question. I'm a bit of a n00b and I got my DASH recently. I thought the lastest HTC ROM was the better than the Rogers ROM but after reading through the threads in terms of comparison. It now seems to me the Rogers ROM is a bit more stable. Then again, the consensus is split with factors surrounding individual devices.
Specifically, can someone give me programs that come with the Rogers and/or HTC (B) ROM? Does Rogers ROM include a working OZ Messenger (I know that people are still trying to figure out how to get OZ to work for the latest HTC)?
I made a list of my T-Mobile apps/folders so that I can see the difference. This is what I get when I load up the start menu:
-Messaging
-Instant Messaging (OZ Messenger)
-myFaves
-Contacts
-Voice Notes
-Calendar
-Internet Explorer
-ActiveSync
-Call History
-Settings
-t-zones
-Tasks
-Messenger
-Pictures and Videos
-Windows Media
-Comm Manager
-File Explorer
-Handango InHand
-Live Search
-Music Plug-In
-Set Up E-Mail
-Speed Dial
-Task Manager
-Voice Command
-Windows Live
-Accessories (Calculator, Clear Storage, Internet Sharing, Restore Setp Up - E-mail Plugin, SIM Manager, Voice Recorder)
-Applications (Adobe Reader LE, Camera, Java Application, Video Recorder)
-Games (Bubblet, Solitaire)
-Office Mobile (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
-T-Mobile HotSpot
Thanks all.

Phantom Alarm Bug
There is a reported issue of multiple alarms going off even though the alarm is turned off in Settings. There is no known permanent fix at this point.
Phantom alarms can be cleaned up by following these instructions:
1. Load SKTools Smartphone Edition (Clean up and uninstaller utility)
2. Select View -> Maintenance -> Notifications Queue
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and there should be multiple entries already checked for “Clock.exe”.
4. Select Action -> Delete marked
5. Do a soft reset (turn off then back on).Helpful Applications and Add-ons

Stock android since 2.1 has it.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

also tried to find something about it, no luck yet ...
Also I have had no luck with the non-sense roms to get synch setup if security requirements are in place (unlock screen with pass or pin)

my htc hd7 and wp mango upgrade (?)

hi
I have bought my htc hd7 from o2 germany.
2 weeks ago, mango upgrade is available for my phone. I have updated my WP succesfully but,
this mango is different.
no messenger, no wifi hotspot, no general ringtone option etc.
my mango version is 7.10 (7720)
In you opinion, what is the problem?
Hey buddy...I don't think the official wifi hotspot and general ringtone have been released.therefore, we are on the same boat,no worries.
In regards to the messenger, make sure you sign in to the correct windows live account,as microsoft don't allow secondary live account to get the messenger functionality and they blocked IM+ from offering live messenger...which is shame....
If you confirmed you use the same live messenger account as the primary account in your phone, then you can just simply go into messaging hub and set the chat status to online. For facebook, just go to setting and add the facebook account.
thanks for you reply.
when do they release these options for mango? do you have any information about this?

For the wifi hotspot,i think it is coming soon...got people reported that Mozart in India already receiving the latest HTC update which added the wifi hotspot function. However, not sure when for htc HD 7...I think it won't be too long.
For the ringtone stuff,I didn't use custom ringtones much(honestly never use it before). AfAIK, there are apps on marketplace that you can buy and download some new ringtone...
Is it a spl update?
i can't remember an older spl but now,spl is 5.xx
