Hey guys, i was wondering if i can get any help with something i've been trying to work on. I recently bought an EVO for 50 bucks practically brand new, i had it flashed to metroPCS. I should've check this before leaving the store but apparently the HTC Wallpapers that came on the phone were erased. I've been able to dowload the wallpapers through forums. Now here is where i need help! I want to upload the wallpapers on my phone so that they appear in the original location, so as if never removed. I'm very new at this. Can anyone help?
I will gladly help you with this. The original wallpapers are filed away under /system/customize/resource and their formats are HTC_wallpaper_01.jpg and so on. To move your wallpapers there or any wallpapers simply do these command lines:
1. Adb remount
2. Adb push [yourwallpaper].jpg /system/customize/resource
An alternative would be to use root explorer. Copy files then navigate to s/c/resource then paste. Anyhow you need root to do this. Hope that helps.

Thanks I don't know much about rooting the phone, and honesty I'm kind of scared of ruining the phone. I downloaded an app called astro file manager from the market. I was wondering if maybe with this app I would be able to upload the wallpapers to my SD card and then move them into system/customize/resource, or is their another folder they must go in. Astro is a nice app but unfortunately it cannot edit system files - only files on your sdcard can be edited with it. Is your phone rooted? Rooting it will not break it but instead open up great options. The only way to modify system files ie system/customize/resource is to be rooted. I can help you with that if you'd like. Once rooted you can use root explorer (root version of astro) to move said wallpapers. But most roms will include stock wallpaper.
A walkthrough would be great!!!! I am not so sure if the phone is rooted, I thought maybe the phone was rooted when it was flashed over to metroPCS. If you can and don't mind if you can walk me through it i'll go ahead and give it a shot. Once again thanks for your time and help.
so i have tried everything just can't get this to work file explorer root titanium backup also through pc i am trying to get the stock browser i am using the one from frozen rom.... to transport to metamorphisis cant seem to get it to paste into the system/app section i was wondering if there is anyone willing to do this for me and attach a download link or a email attachment of some sort would be greatly appreciated... or is there a way to just pull the apk flash the rom and install the apk... thanks guys..
How can I add AllShare .apk to CleanGB EI22 Build 13. I downloaded the dlna.apk from a Epic thread but it will not install.
Any help would greatly be appreciated
It needs to go in /system/app/
Either use a root capable file explorer or adb push to get it there.

I deleted mine by accident .... I had to use abd as i would copy and paste with root explorer and es explorer and it wouldnt go ... but I have since found SDX Stock App Remover ....
In SDX if you dont know where the backups are back up something mount the sd or goto an explorer and put the dlna.apk in there .... you can then use restore to put it back

You need to set the permissions too... after copying the apk to system/apps long click it and go to permissions and then set too: read/owner on, Group on, others on. Then Write/owner on (turning on by clicking the corresponding box). All the other boxes will be empty. Hit OK. This will make sense when you do it... Reboot phone... You should be good to go...
VeNum ROM Question
Again, sorry for being such a Noob here, but I really like this ROM and desparately want to use it.
So, you said to extract the APKs to the "system/app" folder. I didn't see it a "system or a App" folder, or I'm not in the right place. I am viewing the files structure via Root Explorer on my phone.

Permissions
Ok, I found the files, placed the apks where you said to, changed the permissions as instructed, but the apk still will not install.
I'm trying to install the Samsung Weather apk. Some will install, but most of the original system apks won't.
Any clue?

Install:Copy to system/app and change permissions to rw-r-r then reboot then go to the same place and install it like normal app and you should have S-Voice!!!

Sorry bro.......running cm9 beta3/Nyancolonel...and the installation went well but.....it started force closing on me.......so I booted to twrp recovery and wiped dalvik and cache....also fixed permissions...and rebooted......but no luck still closing........any suggestions.!???

Haven't tried it yet but maybe it requires TW framework? Idk. I'm on AOKP right now, anyone else try this?
Edit: Actually it doesn't look like it needs TW framework since people are getting to work on their Galaxy Nexus's

running cm9 beta 3 nyan also and it works until i reboot. after reboot get fc. reinstall and works again.
Now.....after reinstall..should I reboot or no..?....I mean I will have to do a reboot eventually...

i would try it without a reboot at all to see if it does work for you. i did not reboot after installing.
I just installed and no reboot no move and it appears to work fine. I would love if eventually the microphone on the screen in cm9 in the search bar could be modified to run svoice instead of googles voice search

Push the voicetalk.apk to /system/apps and change the permissions, (or use root explorer) then open the APK file in winrar or winzip, go to the lib folder, then the armeabi folder and extract the libvoxtts.so from that folder. Put the libvoxtts.so file in /system/lib and change the permissions appropriately. Reboot and it will show in the app drawer under S Voice.
No problems on reboot at all. In fact... here are the S voice APK and the lib file already extracted for you, just open in winrar and put the apk in /system/apps/ and the .so file in /system/lib/, change the permissions on both files to rw-r--r-- and then reboot and you will be good to go.

I have downloaded the files. I have ES explorer and rooted phone. But I can not copy files to app folder or lib folder. I am getting msg, Files can not by copied or moved.

Go to settings check root explorer and then check mount system as rewrite able.

Thanks, that's it. SVoice started up but I was going thru help screens and next next and I get S voice stopped working. Checked files permission again and re-booted and same thing.
Hey..........everyone that's having problems with is apk........"LiLChris06"...has a .zip. for this I used it and this thing works like a charm........no fc's whatsoever.....and I tried everything from a few posts.......so thank him...I am just sharing this for the rest of us who had issues with this install....

Such a cool app. Works good. A lot of thing are missing and don't work. There are S voice setting we don't have because we are only installing the S voice app and there's more to it. But I will say this, if you are wanting a SGSIII before you try this. This is going to straight piss you off and make it worst. Sprint had better be bring us the full version of this phone.
