Hi
I haven't found anyone else in TP2 forums report this problem I have on reboot, but can anyone help? After inputting my PIN, a screen comes up stating "We're Sorry... A problem has occurred with services.exe" and it asks if I want to send a report to Microsoft, but if I click either "send" or "don't send", it then appears to function normally.
I, too, have this problem, but hesitated to bring it up here because my assumption was that it must have something to do with a tweak I have done or some software I have installed (and then subsequently uninstalled?). As such, the parameters are too broad (I would have thought) to be able to determine why this is happening. Are you also working with an AT&T Tilt2, stock ROM?
I too have this problem, if it occurs overnight, my alarm will not go off, and it get stuck on the time that it happens until i click ok. kinda sucks
I had it - tech support (AT&T) exchanged the phone
I had it - tech support (AT&T) exchanged the phone
It was within the first thirty days
my 30 days is up
Also got it with my TP2. Dutch stock rom windows mobile 6.5
Also getting the error after a restart sometimes, or randomly in wimo 6.5. Never had it until my wimo ran out of power when playing a game... It shutted off on it's own. Now i randomly get that error so once in awhile. I even did a hard reset, but still getting it sometimes. But not always after restarting...
Bit strange... Don't notice anything not working though. Everything seems to be working fine... Is there a way to disable error reports in wimo?

Wow, thanks for the info -- I was actually considering a hard reset because of this -- you've saved me the trouble!

I have stock HTC 6.5 ROM (WWE). It's not a major problem and only occurs if I reboot - luckily it does not happen randomly for me or when unlocking or switching the phone transmitter off and then on again.

Now, on reboots I'm also getting an error message about gwes.exe -- comes right after the one about services.exe.
I get it too. Stock Rom with plenty of apps and stuff added.

I started having this and other errors after installing Hou Ming's fexploreext205. I had just started to look for a replacement when I ran across this thread.

Darn, I don't have this app installed, but this line of investigation may yet yield results. I'm going to try to see if I can figure out the history of my installs (good luck!).
OK, I bit the proverbial bullet and did a hard reset. It's taken me a couple of days but I've got all the software re-installed (with a soft reset after each install! -- more or less) and so far so good: no service.exe (or any other) errors. Let's just hope there isn't some periodic thing that will trigger the error down the road.
I just downloaded and upgraded my Touch Pro2 now to the WM6.5 for GCC and Egypt. However, anytime i do a soft reset i get the following error message:
A problem has occurred with services.exe
And then the blah-blah about telling Microsoft about this problem.
This doesn't happen however if i shutdown and the restart the Touch Pro 2.
I have done a hard reboot and still i get this error. I have posted this on HTC support site. Let's see what they say.
Now appears cured!

For some reason I now don't get it. I have no idea why as I haven't been trying to solve it specifically and have not hard reset!
@azuka: Please let us know what HTC say.
i also have this problem..
using stock 6.5 WWE SEA rom
happened after installing some programs..
however doesn't seem to affect or give any problems after
clicking don't send or send ..
would love to know why this occurs tho..
thx
Same thing happened to me. I have the new leaked t-mobile 6.5.
I did the hard reset and it happened to me again after i installed a few programs so i decided to reflash the with the t-mobile rom again and thank God it hasn't happened since the morning. i have been installing the programs one by one with a soft reset right after every new install trying to recreate the problem but it hasn't happen..
i hope it stays that way.
I have the original HTC rom (ITALIAN) and I have this problem if i deactivate Manila and i activate Titanium interface. I think there is some program that try to "talk" with manila during boot.
Now I enabled Manila again and it works like a charm.. (But I miss Titanium interface.. )
HTC simply asked me to download the WM6.5 upgrade again and reinstall. This i did and surprisingly i have not received that error again. 3days+ now and still counting.
Hi all,
have had my Desire for a couple of months now, well pleased with it. I have not in any way modified it other than installed some apps from market. This afternoon after lunch while it was in my Brodit car holder I suddenly noticed it was asking for PIN code. Entered it, fine. But then a couple of minutes later, same thing again. And again.
Just now I was typing an SMS to somebody and just before finishing screen blanks out, then the screen asking for PIN comes up.
What the heck?
Anybody who has had similar problems and knows what causes/caused them?
I haven't had the battery or sim card out or anything, it just suddenly started doing this.
Cheers
//Joris
*edit*
I have tested switching off the phone, removing battery for a couple of mins then reinserting and rebooting, but same problem persists.
Wonderful, we're going on holidays in 2 days.... :'(
Well I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the problem was, tested with another SIM but same. Completely random, sometimes it would last half an hour sometimes not even a minute.
Did a clear storage/hard reset and after that all seems fine. Except for that my conversations were still there, but somehow if I get an sms from somebody now it's added to the wrong conversation. Then if I reply to it, it goes to the person in the conversation, not the person who sent the msg
Deleted all msgs now so should be sorted. Think a problem with all contacts syncing to and from Microsoft Outlook, it messed up all phone numbers like this:
46 2342423423
so no + and a space between country code and phone number. ANnoying as heck but haven't figured out if there's a setting in outlook or htc sync to solve this.

What ROM/Radio is it running?? is it unbranded??
I have no idea. Bought from Komplett here in Sweden, i.e. unbranded and unlocked. It's running what it came with since there haven't been any updates and I haven't the balls to start experimenting about with it
Strange, I just picked up my Desire today. I rooted it this evening and only noticed it happening after rooting it. I didn't run it for very long unrooted though, so I don't know if it's related. I wonder what's causing it.
maybe this helps:

Thanks but it goes to SIM lock rather than phone lock... like when you first switch on your phone. The phone doesn't reboot though, it just asks for the SIM pin all of a sudden, even when you're doing something on it.

i also had this problem (well more or less) for me it happened when my cellphone signal dropped to limited service (or no services at all) after the phone picks up a signal again its asks for a pin. you mind want to check this out aswell. i fixed this by going into the settings and fiddling around with network/mobile operator settings and such, soz i cant remember exactly, but this did the trick for me.
hope it helps.
I was going to take it back to the shop when I thought I'd try a different ROM first. I installed the OpenDesire 3.0.1 Froyo ROM last night and so far it hasn't done it yet. Maybe the official Froyo ROM won't have that problem either.
Tester app
Hi
I've been having the same problem on my X10 Mini Pro for the last couple of days. To try and figure out what's causing this I've made a small app that checks the sim-status periodically. If it's not available or a pin-code is required for unlocking it the phone starts vibrating plus default notification-sound.
If you're fast you can check your device's LogCat with aLogCat (available from market). At least you'll get notified that you're unreachable
Since I have no Market-account yet you have to upload it to your phone manually with adb. Search google for a howto.
See attached file.
Hi!
Do you have Exchange 2010 sync?
Hi have the same porblem with LG Optimus 2x.

Hey guys, i haven't ever really posted on here other than when i first got my TP2 months ago. Since then i have had 9 replacements for various things, all of which have been hardware related. Things like constant freeze-ups, always telling me i have un-read messages when i don't...anywhere. and some others but those two are the main ones. So i am asking you guys what do i need to do to stop myself from body slamming this phone across my living room? Every single phone i get has the un-read message problem. And after about a month of use they all constantly freeze. I can't stand having to do literally 8+ battery pulls a day because the phone doesn't want to work anymore.
Any ideas? What ROM are you guys all running and what seems to be the most stable? I have never upgraded a ROM before so i have no idea what i am doing there as i have always been a MAC user. However, i do have access to a PC. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Another thing it does is when i get a call or text the phone will vibrate non stop until i turn it off and restart it. This also happens 2-3 time daily.

What version of TP2 -- e.g, T-Mo USA, Verizon, World-Wide/Euro -- do you have?

The things that you mention are not hardware problems but software. So they can be solved by flashing a new rom. I suggest you read the how to flash for noobs thread.
Try a valkyre rom and read the last pages of that thread to see if there are issues etc
A new ROM may very well help sort out your problems, but the excessive problems you have been having make one wonder if there is not some other issue. So before you go to flashing a new rom, it might be a good idea to do some troubleshooting first to try and narrow down the problem.
First, a few questions:
1)What UI are you using? (i.e., Touchflow 3d, Sense, SPB Mobile Shell, Titanium, Classic today?)
2) What programs are you installing?
3) Are you doing any registry edits? Or using custom programs that do registry edits for you? (Things like configuration tools that you installed)
While answering the questions may shed some light on why you are having problems, here is the first thing I would try that could help narrow down the issue:
1) Dissable any custom UIs (start -> settings -> today -> items tab -> select Windows default -> hit OK) then soft reset your phone. Use it for a day and see if any of the problems go away, then report back.
I've got some other ideas, but will hold out on those until looking at your responses to the others above... good luck.
Hey guys and thanks for the replies. I am on a Verizon TP2. Running the stock HTC Sense ROM that came on my last replacement. I do not have anything custom running on the phone and only have 2 apps on the phone itself (facebook and personal assistant). I have given up putting them on there since i have been replacing the phone so often. Problems are still happening.
Thoughts?
Have you tried yet dissabling sense and running for a day to see if there are any improvements? If that doesn't work, I would move on to a hard reset, then disable Sense, and see if it is better. If it was, I would re-enable sense and dissable the email and sms tabs and see....
Meanwhile, I would also be reading the newbie guide to flashing new roms... as it is really odd to be seeing these sorts of problems with nothing installed on the phone.
I am correct that you haven't installed the facebook and personal assistant programs since your last hard reset? I only ask because the product description for the personal assistant looks like it is somewhat invasive into your phone (i.e., it can track minute use and such) and could possibly be the culprit for some or even most of your issues...

ur previous statement says your a mac guy. what a re you doing with a windows phone? thats just a recipe for disaster.....
try flashing to an NRG rom. I personally have been using cookie energy for months and never had any problems. this may be a lil too complicated for a "mac" user tho.
Well, I thought I'd let you guys know, my defy went to the official motorola service, now, before someone starts posting "room full of people who cares" pics, I'll tell you what where it's symptoms and maybe you can tell me if any had any similar issues.
A little background:
I'm in Argentina, and I got my defy from "Personal" ( that's the carrier) which has a 2.2.1 rom ( if I'm not wrong )
I used it for a bit and it was working so well that I didn't feel the need to mess with it.
Then, I started missing some stuff and I decided to install CM7 (rc1, v2), to see how it performed.
All good, for a while, but then, the following started happening:
- 5~8 times out of ten, sms's wouldn't go out ( and I had to re-send them until they did )
- I got delays on getting messages, and on other people receiving them.
- Sometimes I wouldn't get to answer a call, just got a "missed call notification SMS"
- Sometimes calls would drop when answering them
- FM radio started being CRAP, and getting either stuck on, or wouldn't turn on after being interrupted by other notifications.
- frecuent freezing .
I guessed it was CM7, so, deceided to get back to stock, and maybe rooting, just for kicks.
I went back to stock, but the problems kept happening.
And that's why I sent it to service.
Anyone got any similar issues?
I wounder if you had forgot ‘full wipe’?
This sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere in the phone hardware.

lol, of course I did wipe, I didn't got into GREAT detail of everything i did because it would be WAY to boring, but, I did tried a lot of stuff before sending it back.
I kind of know my way around android, but I don't blame you for asking, I've seen a lot of uninformed posts around here ( nothing wrong with that, not everyone has time, the patience, or the interest to spend HOURS figuring stuff out, and learning about android )

Yup, I also thought it could be either a SEVERE overage problem ( like a signal black hole in my apartment) , or a defective sim card , but I'm using my old HTC G1 for now, and it's working great, so, both of those are out.
Maybe ,your phone’s baceband does not fit for the sevice, download some app to change the baseband.
Many peope have the same problem reflected by forum in my conutry as far as i know. Most of them solve the problem by changing baceband.
(My english is so bad...but I really want to help you.)

If the baseband was incorrect, it wouldn't get signal at all.
Plus, the phone was bought in argentina, so the argentina stock rom for the carrier HAS the right baseband, and I still got issues.
I have no other explanation for it than faulty hardware.
Thanks, though, I know you're trying to help ; )
Hello,
I know that this would be better posted to one of the development forums but (new member) can't post there...
anyway, I have the captivate glide and I recently installed literom from the greater good. Anyway, I'm running into some bluetooth issues and I was wondering if anyone has had any similiar issues? The forum for that rom does not mention the issues that I'm having (at least not that I found).
Basically, my bluetooth works fine. As long as I don't reboot my phone. Any time I reboot, my pairing information is lost for any devices I had. I can scan for devices, but when I try and connect, it says invalid pin or connection refused. If I run through the pairing procedure again, it works until the next reboot.
Anyone have any ideas for me? I like this rom and don't want to re-image it with something else... my bluetooth worked fine on the last rom I had installed (but nothing else did pretty much, which is why I reimaged it)...
sorry for throwing this out in the general forum, but to be honest I'm not 100% sure that my issues are related to this ROM just mostly sure... anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
