The reason that i ask this question is that i bought my mother a droid incredible 2 as she needed a solid phone to use for her business and something for her emails, easy web access, amongst many other things business oriented that her LG flip phone couldnt do. The issue is i dont live anwhere near her so i cant do the only root methof that we currently have, bc im not there, and it would be overly dificult to remote in and explain to her and all that. My question is, is there going to be something as easy as unrevoked or revolutionary that will come out for this update? THat i can explain over the phone, not a problem. Dont flame me for asking, if you look at my stats ive been here for some time and dont need someone telling me to wait if im a noob, im not, i just dont have easy access to the phone. also, is there any easy way to to tether? without root? like changing something in the service menu? that is a fool proof tested way to work? sorry for all the questions, ive stopped coming here for a while bc f some dooche in the fascinate forums, that ended up in the thunderbolt forums, that then ended up in the bionic forums and i just got tired of him. Good to be back all, thanks in advance for any help

"Any progress on 2.3.4 Root update? Besides Clip?"
I've read through the forums and the answer seems to be, "Yes, you can now obtain root without the clip. But only if you're competent in Swahili, like everyone ought to be. Otherwise, you don't have any business asking questions about how to do it."

I figure to keep people from posting threads after threads saying "please help I bricked my epic" I figured it be easier to have someone do it for them. Since I have plenty of time I figured I do this. If you would like me to root your device simply pm and I will give you instructions on how I will remotely control your pc (if I do it remotely then make sure you have a nonstock usb cable for example a blackberry micro usb) or you can send it to me. If you send via ups etc then you'll be paying for back and forth.*Disclaimer*if anything happens which more than likely WON'T its not my fault BUT will try my best to fix it.
I doubt this will take off but why not put it out there.

Not a bad idea... in my opinion if you can't figure out how to root it you don't need it rooted though. The rooting methods are easy enough and qbking has made some easy to follow videos for everybody... my 12 year old niece rooted her epic following the video and she is no techie in any way! If she can do it everybody can! Not a hit to you though. I commend your efforts!

While I applaud the objective of your kind motives, I have to say that if someone can't root their phone on their own, they don't need it rooted. You have to be able to troubleshoot to fix problems, which requires an understanding of what is happening on your device.

Id say thats noble, but i agree that if you can't learn to root it yourself then you don't really understand the gravity of what root access is capable of.
Second, if I send you my phone, and you root it, flash CWM and brick it them I'm SOL... And if it works before you touch it, but not after, then it would totally be your fault. You may not be liable, but your hands make it your fault.
anyhow cool idea, maybe find a way to guarantee or insure your work and i bet people would pay 10 or 20 bucks for rooting.

Don't be afraid to root. On these phones it is extremely easy and there is always Odin which can rescue you from almost anything.

Well:
1st U'll get rid of all the useless crap T-MO/ ATT pre-install on your phone.
2.- Better Battery Life.
3.- Unleashes Phone true potential, it works the way it was intended.
Plus many more performance and battery Tweaks, Overclocking abilities (push ur phones CPU to work Harder) , UnderVolting (control Over battery Voltage with proper usage increases battery life).... among other awesome things if u are interested!,

Cool. I will look into more before I do it. I worry my phone will turn into brick. I saw a few thread floating around.
Just read and read and read some more. As long as you follow all the guides step by step and are making sure everything you do is meant for YOUR device, you won't end up bricking your phone. In fact, you'll be pleased with the results. Guaranteed. But remember, every instructional thread you read has a warning. Read them carefully and if you're still uncomfortable, don't be afraid to ask more questions. Anyone willing to respond to a question typically knows what they're talking about.

According to samsung if u flash a custom binary u have voided ur warranty. New devices like in our case the S3, Even S2 has a binary counter which keeps counts how many times have u flash ur device with a custom Rom,but even with this counter installed there's always a work around to reset this counter and "cash in" in our warranties. So feel confident that u can root and always bring back ur device to stock and have full warranty coverage.!!! SO HACK ON AND FLASH AWAY!!! U' WILL LOVE IT! :good:

There are ways to reverse back to stock and reset your count to Zero so that T-mo cannot tell you rooted and you can return your phone if you need to. You need to search Unroot Galaxy SIII for instructions or look here in the forums.

Read some more than this guy even said. If you don't know even what root is then make sure you have read enough to know what you are doing first. We were all noobs once so we all know what your thinking. But you will not regret taking the leap on root. You just get so much more out of your phone than you can imagine.

I'm an idiot and my search skills suck. I know there is a thread around here on getting the t999l back to factory to return it but for the life of me I can't find it all I can seem to find are the ones for the t999. Can someone point me to the right thread?
Follow the same instructions for the T999 but use firmware for yours.
Ok Im an idiot I guess. lol Time to go search for the t999 ones and follow them now thanks doc!
Hey Doc any idea why I may not have wifi after flashing the stock rom? ANd why I cant seem to get triangleaway to work?
Never Mind got it. Did it with mobile odin first and it went sideways evidently. Hooked it up to a windows box and its back to all the lovely (ha!) goodness of stock.
Cool, glad you figured it out! Good job!
No thank you doc without the work you have done I would be stuck as well as a lot of other people on here. Now to deal with Samsung's lovely warranty department.

Just out of curiosity did you trip KNOX?
I'm not sure how to tell. I used towel root and installed triangle away to check that and it shows good. I had a shield thing come up after that but if you tell me how to check I will let you know.

Boot download mode. Look for the Warranty Bit. If its set to 1, its been tripped.
This means they have the ability to deny you a warranty claim. I have heard many reports of warranties being honored regardless of this though, so I wouldn't worry too much if it is tripped.
