My wifi wont work. Wont connect at all. How can I fix this?
I have never seen anyone have this problem with my rom, only data connection errors, which is a DK28 modem problem. You can post your question in the rom thread, maybe someone has seen this...

I re-flashed the rom and its fine now. But I am getting data connerction errors. How do I fix those?
Those seem to be quite common, I had those even when I had 2.1.
You could try to remove sprint's throttling...
Try following this guide, http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/sprint-ep...reaming-pandora-skyfire-tunewiki-over-3g.html
Yes remove sprints throttling. I did it and its the best thing you can do. My 3g used to crawl and now its decent. Easiest way to get mal is dl connectbot off the market. Make sure you change all 4 things inside that menu.

How's goes it out there? This is my first question on XDA so forgive me if I sound dumb.
I have a rooted EVO via Unrevoked. I am using Myn's latest Rom, my kernel version is 2.6.32.25-netarchy-toastmod-4.2.1-cfs-bfq-havs-more-smartass. It runs pretty well for the most part, but I have crappy service where I live. I am usually between 2-3 bars. I want to know if there is a way to speed up my internet tether and my 3g speed.
Another question I have is I flashed Myn's latest Rom and I wanted to go and try other roms. The only thing is my Nandroid is missing from my recovery menu. Any clue as to where is went and/or how to get it back..?
Sorry if these are in threads already as I'm sure they are, but my internet is slow(as I stated above).Hopefully some kind soul would just work with me a little so I dont have to wait for 9000000 different threads options can be looked up and wait 10 years to do so.

Get sprints airave if you have cable or dsl internet. You will have full bars. Or get a cell signal booster for about 300 bucks from radio shack. This will also give you full service.

you COULD try and update your radios. What version on Myn? Is it his newest? If so then do thr PRL to 1.90. If your having issues with the phone not sleeping at night, extreme lag etc then downgrade to 1,77
I am on the latest version of myn's. RLS5.

I have the latest version of Myn's. My prl is 1.90_003. Now how would I go about downgrading my prl? Also what does updating/downgrading your prl do? How can I tell if my phone is sleeping? Also any clue on the nandroid? Sorry for the overwhelming amount of questions, I have limited resources right now unfortunately.. but I greatly appreciate everyone's help.

Just an idea, I read a post today that was talking about dialing ##3282# in the dialer, going to edit mode, type in the password found using MSL reader from the market, go to ADVANCED, then change HTTP PD Proxy Port to "0" and change HTTP PD Proxy address to "0.0.0.0"....
I looked for the post just now but couldnt find it... Anyway, several people on there were talkin about it increasing their 3g speeds ( and allowing them to dwnld mp3's), and sure enough I did it and my average (over 4 tests before and 4 after) went up about 25%.... Anyway, dont know if this will help you at all since your's is an actually service issue but it's worth a try... Hope it helps -- and by the way, I am in no way a professional, just simply passing some stuff along so do your research and dont just take my word for it... good luck mate
OK folks, don't understand what's going on here. All I have done so far is
Rooted with Zedomax v3
flashed stock kernel back on the phone
WiMAX definitely worked when I got the phone, but now I get stuck at "Obtaining IP Address"
Any ideas? Here is a link to my pastebin of WiMAX interface starting up...

The only way to tell what happened is to try a different kernel or rom and see if it works. If all fails go back to stock, if it fails then then you must have lost your wimax keys... and that would suck!

hmm, thought I read that Samsung doesn't have wimax keys in the same way that HTC does. They are embedded in the device and can't be lost. Plus, I make it pass authenticating to the tower, just seems to have problem establishing IP
Odin the eg30 stock rom/kernel that crawlj posted. It should fix it. This is what has been fmdone to fix the wifi and 4g problems.
Sent From My Evo Killer!!!
It looks more like a network problem to me (albeit a convenient one). Since the problem is obtaining an IP, then your wimax radio is having no problems actually getting the signal (otherwise it would hang on connecting) and problems identifying the connection. What I would do, if it were me, would be to flash crawrj's stock tar (the whole stock rom in tar form), factory reset and try again.
If it still hangs after that, then it's the tower and give it a day or two to get it's own panties out of whatever twist they're in.
Sometimes this kinda stuff happens to me too, but it always starts up again eventually

I may very well be in the same boat as you. I got the phone the other day, brought it home, rooted it and went to work. Two mornings back to back at school my connection was hit or miss (mostly miss). Now today it seems to never have a connection unless I reset APN and reboot the phone. Contacted T-Mobile about possible issues and there was nothing they could suggest besides what I already tried. So of course the first thing I thought was it had to do with Odin and rooting. Does anyone else have anything about this? If rooting is causing the problem I have no problem going back to stock and keeping it clean. The only other thing I can do is bring the phone back, get a replacement, and try again. I'm 50/50 right now.

Yea, no problems on Beastmod, its been my rom since I got the phone. NO ISSUES!! Try this however, 1. go into recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvic, fix permissions, reboot. 2. Flash another radio and see what your results are with that. The KJ3 worked nice which is the dual banding telus radio. I recently switched back to KL1 to compare results. However, good luck and let me know what happened. Out of curiosity, what rom have you flashed?

I have downloaded and done a clean install of the latest ROM from Team-Venom "Wicked Sensations v2.0" First of all the ROM is so in depth, and runs smoother than any other ROM I have used in the last year. There is only one issue. The only way I can use mobile data is if I switch the mobile network to CDMA, 4G LTE does allow me to send and receive phone calls but no text messages, or any data whatsoever. . I have read all of Team Venom's thread, well most of it anyways, and I cannot find anyone else having this issue. I am aware of the rules of the forums, so I am posting this under the Q/A as not to bog down or step on anyone's toes, in the developers thread.
Is there a fix for the 4G data issue, or is it just my phone? I have tried everything I can think of such as..
Flash stock Kernal
Flashed the latest radios
flashed the latest PRL's (not sure what that would do but I did it anyways)
tried toggling airplane mode on and off.
Since nobody else is having this issue, I am not sure what else to try. also, when I am using LTE, I DO NOT have the 4G icon next to my signal bars, like I do when I am on 3G.
Before you ask, yes, I do in fact live in an area that does have 4G, I am in Kansas City Kansas.
Anyone with an idea or know how I would be grateful.

MSL#
jonapunk said:

Thanks for the replies all. I have done the suggested troubleshooting as follows
1: did a fresh install of the ROM (after wiping EVERYTHING first)
2. went through setup of the device (just to verify 4G was still not working, which it was not)
3. went to dialer and input ##486#
4. chose the reset option
5. entered my MSL # and then the phone did a factory reset.
When the phone came back up I had to go through the setup again, and had to turn on wifi to get through it because the data was still not working.
Also if anyone comes accross this and wants to know how to get the MSL # download a terminal emulator from the market and input "getprop ril.MSL"
Or check out this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28182339
Also while investigating the MSL further I found this possible solution-
"The phone needs to be re-provisioned as follows ##72786# or ##SCRTN# the phone may restart twice, after the restarts, launch a browser and type in your phone number on the prompt."
After following this, when I opened the browser I was not prompted to input anything I was only greeted with a connection error. :crying:
I am still searching for more answers. I am exploring ##DATA# but there is more in here than I am familiar with so I will hold of on this until I know what I am doing.
In the mean time 3G works so I am still able to use my phone just wish I could tether my 4G to my laptop.
Any other ideas are more than welcome.

Tha'ts weird, I just checked mine and it says global network. I switched it toe CDMA LTE and it works. Even sent a test text message to the wife phone and have no issues.. O here might be the issue. If you go to ##3282# under view then advance, see if LTE is enabled or disabled.. If it is enabled then I bet that is why you do not get 4G service.. I believe LTE does not have 4G service just 3G.. I have done this and my 4G went to 3G after enableing it.. If you have it disabled you will get 4G service..
That is a good idea but even then you have to wait five min. inbetween lol why couldn't I remember my old login that would be way easier

Well I have finally been able to get 4G data working on v2.0!!!
1. Wipe EVERYTHING
2. Flashed sensations v1.3
3. Reboot phone into recovery
4. Flashed v2.0
5. BEFORE REBOOTING OUT OF RECOVERY, Flash latest sprint radios
6. Reboot phone one last time
This has made 4G data work for me.
Im in the car right now, will try to remember to post a link to the latest radios. And PRL Updates. Those are nice to have too.

I don't use a MVNO, so I am not sure which regular troubleshooting steps would clear away your carrier settings. (I'm thinking using EFS Clear in Odin is the only concern, but that is sometimes needed for modem issues.)
Based off that rom's thread, you must be using the NS4G modem. Since your issue is with connectivity:
Perform a CWM backup of your current setup.
Flash an Epic modem rom and FC09 modem. (You can flash the modem using CWM. There's a thread in the dev forum w/ links.)
Try testing connection again.
I'd normally tell a Sprint Epic user to boot into FC09 multiboot and update profile & PRL, but I don't even think the PRL update would work for you. I'd then say, start from scratch by using Odin to flash FC09 with repartition checked. If they still had issues with connectivity, then I'd recommend using EFS clear in Odin when reflashing either just the FC09 modem or the entire FC09 tar.
Because you are on another carrier, I'm weary of suggesting you use Odin so quickly. If you haven't already, dive into your phone settings and document your carrier specific info you changed to get it working. This way, if you end up doing something that resets your original changes, then you can reconfigure it.
So give the suggestion that is listed above a try.
Since I'm very much a noob myself, I'm only tossing this out to possibly trigger an idea for someone else: Would perhaps the issue lie in the Build.prop or one of those similar files? I've poked around so many of them I can't remember which hold what tidbits of info... I know the Build.prop holds most of the primary carrier info, but I seem to recall another one that stored a bunch of info for a bunch of the other carriers (though that might have been for roaming and may not be of any help here).
*shrug* Otherwise, I's gots nothin' lol
