Google Launches Online market and allows Direct downloading from the web. Easy Searching, downloading, etc.

this is also why the market has been on and off the last couple days
installing from the web doesn't work for me unless I run stock (it didn't work with AppBrain either). I'm running CM 6.1.1 on Vision
Didn't work for me either on cm6.1.1 or latest cm7 nightly.

Works like a charm with Gingerbread Villain. They made it so easy, you click install and by the time you pull the phone out of your pocket it's installed.
Holy crap, what a cool innovation!! That is just sweet! I'm on Gingervillian, so we'll see how it works. Regardless of if it works for me, I can accept that since my phone is hacked. This is sweet for most of the Androids out there running stock.
Works fine for me and im running the lastest CM stable, 6.1.1

are you using *@gmail.com for your android market login?
I am GAFYD. I'm guessing that is contributing to my madness.
What version of the Market is everyone running? I have a rooted G2 running CM 6.1 and I have the old market and the new market sync doesn't work but my roommate has a G2 running CM 6.1 and he has the new market and his links work....I think it has something to do with that.

Is anyone else having issues downloading apps remotely from the newly launched Android Online Market with CM6.1? It may or may not be related to the ROM you're using, I'm just curious.

Android online market?? U mean the one built into the Rom or is there a literal one online now?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
I'm having issues. When I login, select an App and then choose install, I get the message 'There are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account'.
Not sure if the online Android Market (market.android.com) is unable to detect a device if it's on a rooted / CyanogenMod OS?
I just tested this....Worked just fine. Incredible running 6.1 stable and invisiblek kernel.
Glad to hear it's working for you. Anyone else? I'm still experiencing the same issue(s). If I go to My Market Account on the top right after I login (market.android.com), I can see Orders which shows all of my Apps. When I click the Settings tab, I get 'There are no Android devices associated with this account'.

It just went live today. So cool
I'm also using CM6.1 and it downloaded just fine. Is the account you're signing into the same online and on your phone? (dumb question I know, but just wanted to check )

Yes it is.

I am having the same issue - but on a Desire running Oxygen ROM 2.0 (Gingerbread).
There was not post in the desire forums about this, but now it makes me wonder if it might be related to the version of the Market Place that is running on the device? (Old version in this ROM)
I've got an Inc running Cm6.1 with Invisible Kernel.
It recognizes two devices on the account (One presumably being the Droid I previously owned.)
It says it installs, my phone simply never receives the information, I guess.
Are you guys all on the updated market?
I'm on the updated market and it's working for me - if you're not on the latest market, my guess is it's not going to work.
Could also be it's the first day of the new online market, they could still be working out the kinks, I'd give it a couple of days before worrying about it

That's true. I might have to update the market and see if that does the trick.
The only other issue is, like I said, the two devices showing up, even though I only own one device.
I'm using a rooted Desire with HTC Stock-ROM and the web-market doesn't work as well.
As of today, still having the same issue(s). Been seeing this problem all over the web after I do some searches. Seems I'm not alone.
I'm having problems as well.
I am running market version 2.2.7 which i found an APK for around here.
I see my Incredible (and presumably my old Droid too) listed, but it says last accessed on Dec 26 or so.
So it possibly isn't connecting to the market in some way that it needs to be?
I have CM6.1 and i cant access the online market either. i have market version 2.2.1.1
I am also running CM 6.1 and Market version 2.2.11 and I can't get the new web market to work either. I thought it was because I didn't have the latest version of the Market, but I guess that's not it either.
One solution to the "There are no Android devices associated with this account." problem is to remove accounts.db and Market settings: http://hacktheman.org/fixing-android-market-website/
Was wondering if anyone else has tried the new web version of Market today (http://market.android.com), specifically anyone using the CM7 Nightly Builds. It would be great to pick apps in the web version to have installed on your phone OTA, but I'm wondering if the otakiller in CM7 makes this impossible to use. I tried to install one app but nothing seemed to happen. Anyone else try?
I tried it on cm6.1.1 and the latest nightly. Neither worked for me.

Same here. Works like magic
Are the people having success, accessing the web store from their browsers, and the people not having success accessing the web store from their laptops/desktops?
I would think that could make a difference.
EDIT: Now that im at my desktop, i decided to test. I was able to browse/use the market on the desktop web browser, and install OTA directly to my G2 seamlessly. Currently running CM 6.1.1

I think the purpose of having the Android Market on the web is to allow people the ability to view applications and install them OTA, and I don't believe it's supposed used on one's phone. It's very similar to AppBrain.
I love it... super convenient for me.
It's still not working for me - tried it from my laptop, it says that it's installed on the web but nothing happens on the phone. Tried Google's troubleshooting, that didn't work either. Wondering if a full wipe will help fix it but really don't want to go through that again...
It's not working for me either running CM7.
Works well for me using the CM 7 latest nightly (24).
My wife uses an unrooted G2. She likes using Google Talk video chat on her computer. She would love to be able to use it on her phone, even without a front facing camera. I've read elsewhere that Cyanogen has started incorporating 2.3.4 and Video Chat into the nightly builds for the G2. I'm hesitant to root and flash her phone with the current nightly build, since I don't to risk giving her an unstable phone that has broken other features she used to using.
What's the rule of thumb for jumping to a CM build in a case like this? Do you wait for a "stable" build to be posted? If so, about how long it take from the time they start incorporating the stuff you want into nightly builds before it becomes stable (a week, a month, etc)?
just do a nandroid of current rom then flash latest build anf give it a try, some builds are pretty stable aand have lot of fixes with current issues, if bad and have issue you can wipe and restore
Or use tango or fring... or search for the apk that has the updated video chat incorporated
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA Premium App
I tried tango and fring, but neither of them work with the desktop browser version of google talk video chat. We've got the whole extended family on gtalk vc, so in order for video chat on the phone to be value added, it has to work with that. Thanks though.
Just root, download the google talk 1.3 flashable zip, flash with rom manager or in recovery, all done.
I haven't seen the zip in the g2/dz forums but I found it through google...

I don't think gtalk 1.3 will work on anything before 2.3.3. At least that's what I have been reading. I got it working perfectly on CM 7.0.2 by flashing the new gapps version.

How's the stability of 7.0.2? Any significant bugs? Also, I see that 7.0.3 is now in the list of stable builds -- were there be any reason for me not to flash that instead of 7.0.2?

I did push a new googleservicesframework.apk while trying an alternate method. That just gave me force closes when trying video of audio. I flashed the same gapps as you and it stopped force closing and I get two way audio and video.
I'm running CM 7.0.2 with pershoots kernel on a G2.
Jgariano,
7.0.2 is perfectly stable for me. No problems to speak of. I read the only change in 7.0.3 is a security fix, so no major changes.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I need to flash a googleservicesframework.apk as well... I don't have any options for video, and the audio link is greyed out, although it if pushed, it says 'calling' but doesn't really do anything. There is no video option at all, and when viewing my status from another g-mail account, it doesn't show the video camera icon.

I have the same 'problem' with google talk. Everything works fine except the video calling. I can't select it. (When i open talk and then click on my own name, there isn't a box i can check to accept video calling).
i have tried to flash it too,but gtalk disappeared in the applist
why?
My understanding is that there are a few layers to this problem.
1) The hex edited libflashplayer.so (altered file that makes the site believe the flash is on a windows comp and not an android device) that is floating around out there will cause Hulu to work when using CM7 7.0.0 and Warm Z twopointtwo RLS1 (confirmed) but must be re-pasted into the data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib every time that the phone is rebooted.
This is due to the fact that the stock flash 10.2 that is installed on these roms does not have the hex-edited libflashplayer.so in the .apk.
2) On most newer Rom releases (have not confirmed all of them,) the process of replacing the stock libflashplayer.so with the hex-edited version does not cause hulu to work. This could be due to several reasons that are beyond my understanding.
Does anyone on here know of an app that is a good replacement of hulu, or have the ability to create a hacked Flash 10.2 apk that will resolve all of these issues? I would really like to have some tv streaming access during my downtimes, I'm sure others would be much appreciative as well.
Hulu came loaded on Skyraider 4.0 and works fine...I'm watching it right now.
I had seen some feedback saying that was hit and miss for some people. I like that it is preloaded on Skyraider 4.0.
I would like to see some other Roms cook it in too...
Yeah but the flashplayer on skyraider is 10.1 not the latest 10.2
It works on Ruby ROM. It's not as smooth as Flash 10.1 though. It's not choppy but it does have pauses in the video about every 20 seconds or so. I would just stick with 10.1, I don't see any benefit to 10.2 for the Inc.
For the hulu app to work go into your browser settings and turn off mobile view.

False. This only works on Roms where the hacked flash.apk comes cooked in. On *most* newer roms...where it's not cooked in...modding the flash with the libflashplayer.so exploit does not resolve the lack of hulu function, regardless of browser settings.
It is not detecting your browser settings, it is detecting your version of Flash, which is specific to Android phones, and therefore currently blocked by Hulu.
I wish it was this simple, but sadly it is not. Confirmed with test.
Ran into this issue over the weekend. App worked fine on CM7, then I switched to MIUI yesterday and couldn't install it. I looked at the online version of the Android Market, and a dialog box said this app wasn't compatible with the Incredible 2. I'm currently waiting on a response from the developer. Has anyone else had this problem?
I use Tweetcaster Pro just fine. I'm running stock rooted 2.3.3 though
I went back to CM, and now it's visible in the "My Apps" section of the Android Market. Guess it's a MIUI issue. Odd.

I noticed my phone reports to the Market differently when I'm using MIUI. MIUI reports it as Verizon HTC Incredible 2 but if I'm running a different Sense ROM it gets reported as ADR6350. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it, I'm going to lean towards yes.
I used tweetcaster pro in either the first or second official release for the Inc2. 1.7.22 I think it was.

Try restoring it from titanium backup or something. I'm able to install it just fine from Amazon market, don't own it on Android market though.
I restored from titanium and was able to launch the program / log in, though I was getting FC's from other apps so I reverted to my old ROM and never tested.
