Is there an app that shows your notifications in a widget? Like SMS, Gmail, missed calls, etc.? This is to open possibilities for widget-based theming through hiding the notification bar.
I did some searching on many websites as well as forums and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Not sure if this is quite what you are looking for but you can do this with LauncherPro
You can hide the notification bar, and then have the dock display missed alerts for gmail, missed calls, and sms
So here's what I ended up doing. I found an app called SMS Unread Count that shows your SMS, missed calls and Gmail in widgets. I put those on my WidgetLocker lock screen. Then I used your idea with LauncherPro for when I would need to see my notifications after I had unlocked the screen. I never found an app to show ALL notifications in a widget, but then I figured out you could press menu to bring the bar back temporarily.
I think it looks pretty good. Opinions?

I switched from launcherpro to zeam because with zeam I swype up on my screen the status bar is gone. I swype up again and its back. While its gone, swype down and it pulls down even thoughthe bar is gone

i dunno how to. I don't wanna use whole themes, just the icons.
I don't remember where its somewhere in the vibrant forums but to customize the icons you can use ninjamorph. They had a guide in the forums there.

Download da theme with icons you want to. Use after that go to your home screen and press on da icon n press edit then just press the pic of the icon and change it I don't know if you can costomize the ones in da drawer though

You can download pictures off the web, any size, drag an aplication to your home screen, long press, click edit, now a screen your homescreen will show a dialogue, select the icon on the left
now you get the option to select a picture, crop a picture or pic one from an ADW icon pack
I personally prefer cropping and selecting pictures, I've made my screen look like this

Thanks.
I ended up not using a dock on my home screen.
I use swipe up to open app drawer, home key to make a call, and long press search key to txt msg.
Desktop VisualizeR
There is also Desktop VisualizeR. You can pick what icon you want to use and then associate what app you want to go with that icon.
Love this phone. However I am so used to HTC and like to have a full calender on one page, locations on another and music on another . Is this not possible on all these blank screens? I long touch screen and no option for widgets comes up.
Long press on a widget in the widget drawer to drag it onto the screen

Another good widget app is Make Your Clock if you like to design your own. In the following screenshot, the analog clock and the top three widgets on the left were made with MYC.

collection skin thread, don't forget to thank the OP
Wow so many answers and none what OP asked. Lol. ( Alex did actually.)
You don't get widgets like that on android 4.0 +. You go to app drawer and than get to the widgets, swype to get them or press the tab named widget.
Also you won't find a full calendar widget on stock android, you have to install third Party app/widget.
Download APW Widget:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rdr.widgets.core
OR!!!
Wizz widget:

Here is ZPlayer for a full screen music widget:

Running AOKP JB M1 Build 5. Just received an update to Gmail that says I should have the option to delete emails from the notification bar, but I still only have the option to "Reply" or "Archive".
Does anyone know how to set this up so that I can delete without actually having to open my gmail?
Go to the Gmail settings and see if you can enable the delete option.
Well mine updated, and I don't have any options in the notification bar other than swiping it to make it go away. I'm on Jedi Jelly.
Must be a ROM thing then...I did go into Gmail and can now swipe to delete which makes more sense to me then archiving.

I can do that from within the app. But just not when I pull down the notification bar.
"What's in this version:
Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and up:
• Reply, archive or delete from notifications - no need to open the app"

I went into my Gmail settings and changed the Swype action from archive to delete. Voila...I can now delete emails from the notification bar...badass.

I feel ripped or just stupid. It's just not working.
Edit : yeah I'm stupid. Seems silly that I have to swipe down every time on the email notification itself to see the delete box. That was never mentioned anywhere. I found that gem on the support page. I thought it was supposed to be automatic. If there are 2 emails, it doesn't let me do it though.
Just did a complete factory reset on my S3 (due to some connectivity issues) and I'm reevaluating the apps on my phone. SO what apps do you have? Specifically in your dock? And where do you get your icons if you change from the standard ones.
My old setup is:

Sweet, thanks.
I'd like to expand the topic a little.
If people are using the SPH-L710 and the Samsung Smart Dock then what ROM are they using?
Mine just wont work together.
Peace...
Does anyone know if only one notification is allowed on HTC's lockscreen or is this just a 'bug'? I currently have VIPER 1.60 ROM installed and I have asked in their thread, but still haven't got a concrete answer. Viper allows additional apps to appear on Lockscreen if enabled, however what I have noticed is that for whatever reason only 'one' shows on the expandable lockscreen at a time. (I have enclosed a pic for reference). So say for instance-->if I get a a FB notification and a TapaTalk notification at the same time only ONE will appear on Lockscreen..no matter if u expand the widget or not.

I tried DashClock widget but didn't like it so much...installed Locky Notification Widget. It seemed to fit my needs better.
