I am trying to stream a 163 mb MP3 over A2DP - to my parrot carkit. I am running stock Froyo.
After 10 minutes, the app that streams the mp3 crashes without any notification or error msg.
To rule out the obvious i have tested the following:
* tried several apps: standard streaming media player / winamp / mixzing.
They all crash after aprox 10 minutes without notification
* stream does not crash on "normal" streaming (so it crashes only on A2DP)
* tried 2 bluetooth devices (Parrot mki9000 and Voiis Stereo), on both devices stream crashes.
- i increased the buffersize to rule out buffer problems. Same issue occured.
is there maybe a 10 minute streaming limit for A2DP?
I attached the log of my phone of the time when the stream crashed. From the log, I cannot clearly tell what's going on.
Any advise would be much appreciated.
I'm using poweramp player with A2DP streaming via Bluetooth to my sony carhifi. I also use big/long files and never get a error or fc like u.
Maybe it's the file? Try another kbit/s like 192 or somelike...
But I don't think this is the clue... because I use 320 kbit/s files and it's working for me...

Do you mind sharing the link to the mp3 you are streaming, so i can try if it works for me?
Just for that we don't misunderstand each other (because my English isn't perfect...)
U are playing (big) local mp3 files stored on your SDcard in a player on your phone while connected via Bluetooth to your carkit (A2DP)?
Right?

No, i am streaming an MP3. So the MP3 is on the web.
Oh sorry... I meant streaming from phone local files to car...
In your log file it says "disconnect to pid4860" this is the player. Then it says, that there is a bad keycharmap and then its loading default querty keyboard... strength... do u use any modded keyboard? I don't know if it has anything to do with that, but it's in the log...

U connect with mobile network, or over WiFi?

I connect with 3G because the purpose is to listen in my car.
And yes i do use an alternative keyboard, SlideIT.
Mhh... maybe try to uninstall the keyboard...dunno if it has an effect, but u can test
I had issues in older android versions and it helped to deactivate the HFP-profile in the Bluetooth-settings for your parrot device. There are 2 options, just check only the box called like "use audio of phone via BT", not use for call's.

I'm not sure how much people have tried this out yet, but has anyone managed to successfully play videos via dlna (connected media tab in galleries)
eg. i can play an avi file perfectly locally on the device.
but everytime i try to stream it via windows media server/orb media server, i get the message 'Sorry this video cannot be played'
anyone else?
maybe something htc needs to fix?
Tried resetting your router? Maybe thats it.
I tried this and had mixed results: Tversity on win 7 would serve up the videos but none would play. Normal shared folder would let me play .mp4 but not .avi
Ooer!

I am trying to figure out how to enable a 2nd player in the unit, on first run it pops up and asks me which player to use, but only the supplied mplayer is available, if i could get it to see say rockplayer, then these issues would go away

I agree, I'm feeling this is another bug, mainly because the local video playback using htc video player (or whatever its called) is intermittently useless. sometimes it works, sometimes it plays the first five seconds and stops, sometimes not at all. All on the same video at different times.
vplayer works fine though..
also it seems unlikely that resetting the router will help, as airvideo via my iphone works fine, but i will try later on when at home again.
Haven't tried this yet, but have you checked that you have all the right codecs installed on your pc? I know windows media player has a hard time with certain codec's and file types where as vlc player doesn't, yet i don't know how this would sit when streaming video.

I think this is an issue with playback of videos on the phone, not on the computer...
If the file plays back fine on the computer, then it's not gonna be a codec problem (from the computer's side anyway).
Having this problem too. Is someone going to contact HTC?

I have very similar results. Using Windows 7's Media Player Streamer I can browse all my videos , music and photos , but none of these can be played (the server works ok,'coz I still can play videos and other media from other PC). I've some better results with XBMC's media stream (UPNP server) the photos works fine, but still can't play other media.
I can't manage to open the DHD's video, audio or images using DLNA connection.
At the beginning I think that the problem is with codecs, but since this media is opened with no problem once it copied on the phone I'm sure there is a problem with the player playing content over UPNP connection.
I had that kind of issues with an old ubuntu install, but all was fixed when installed VLC Player, so I hope someone can make a good port of VLC to android.
I've managed to playback mp3s and looked at pictures stored on my computer via my phone, so that part is OK, but videos are a no-go, which is a shame.
Very simple answer to this people.
The Desire HD and Z does not support "Play To" Receiver
Because of this AVI wont work.
Just check DLNA's website.
Compare it to bluetooth,
Both are very sensitive to compatibility and such
Never mind...

Well that's just stopped me buying the HTC Media Link, like htcsense.com they big this up in their adverts and then can't deliver.
Avi seems not to work, but I've managed to stream to my phone .mp4 files.

some avi files have actually started playing. most stop within a few seconds though.. if it can do this, why not the whole video?
Also i did check DLNAs website, and they've actually certified the Desire HD as a M-DMP device. I know they've only tested it with images (according to the certificate) however the description of a M-DMP device is:
These wireless devices find and play content on a digital media server (DMS) or mobile digital media server (M-DMS).
Examples: mobile phones and mobile media tablets designed for viewing multimedia content.
So it must be a HTC bug? (based on the fact that it DOES play the start of some files and that it is M-DMP certified..)
EDIT: well it must be a codec thing.. rockplayer plays all these files fine.. even locally the 'Videos/gallery' app can't play them all. Maybe HTC should use ffmpeg like rockplayer.. then it might just work
I spend many hours trying to figure this out , all but streaming video don't work ..any suggestions ?

Me too, but if only there was a way of making vplayer (since that plays everything so far) the default player when a video is clicked on from the connected media view
Same problem here.
1. Connected Home on Samsung Omnia 2(Win6.1/6.5) works
2. Doest work on Samsumg Galaxy Tab (froyo 2.2)
3. Doesnt work on Desire HD (pic, music, video)
So can I assume its something to do with Android?
same problems here with the HTC Media Link. far too many video files play ok on my htc desire from win7 pc using Skifta.
i've been attempting to find successful filetype/bitrate settings through freemake video converter (which allows hard-coding of subtitles) with little success when pushing to the media link.
Q. does anyone know a guaranteed filetype, bitrate, size which works through media link?
Q. are there any XDA devs working on a rom to fix this thing? excellent hardware in need of a little homebrew tweak if ever there was
It works fine on my DHD with Sabsa Prime V16 no issues at all. (Audio /Video/ Photos)
Hi, I'm looking for a way to stream all pc audio to my android phone. The idea is to use the android phone as wireless headphones.
This would probably involve some sort of client server setup similar to Gmote, or what the winamp app does. However I only want audio, so that I can play Video on my TV and listen via wifi on my headphones through my android (HTC Desire).
I've searched the forums, and have only found a few similar questions but no solutions. Its my opinion that this would be an excellent app, if a developer would pick up on it.
I have looked at virtual audio cable as a possible solution - unfortunately I don't have the tech know-how to acheive this. Possibly the audio could be grabbed by VAC and input into Winamp (e.g.) and then streamed via winamp to my phone?
.... any ideas.

These are then just wireless headphones? The idea is to be able to use wired headphones wirelessly, by stalin audio over wifi to our phones.

I was also looking for something like this. Currently the Desire comes with a Bluetooth profile to do the opposite - that is direct all phone output to elsewhere e.g. laptop, but it'd be great for the other way around!
Thanks MasDroid. I have a pair also but not with me on my long weekend vacation...

OK, then you want to do more than "use the Android phone as wireless headphones" as per your first post. You want your phone to receive the audio in order to process it? If so, can you clarify? Sounds interesting and potentially useful.
Will VLC serve your purpose? You can setup a VLC http server on your PC and you can browse your PC files from your phone VLC app. Not sure but maybe, on the PC, you can direct all audio to a filestream. Anyone?

we are thinking of an app that streams whatever sound is coming from the pc to the android phone. me for example i control my pc with the phone via gremote when im laying on my bed. and because the cable of my wired headphones are too short i cannot listen to videos and movies without disturbing the ppl at night. so such "active" apps like the one with vlc and so on isn't really what (at least) im looking for. it should be passive and just stream the whole audio.
i hope u understand

Pretty sure gmote can stream music to your phone. There is a little check box to say weather it's phone controlling media player on your pc, or pc streaming media to your phone. Use it when I'm doing gardening so I have access to all 200Gb of my music.

I had no problems bluetooth pairing with my Audi A4 car kit.
Just searched for car bluetooth device from my HTC Desire, then connected. Was asked for PIN Number, just entered 0000, same with my car. Finished!
Have a more stable connection than with an earlier LeeDroid Version.
In MX Player I also selected software driver (fast).
While trying to use hardware acceleration. had only black screen.
try to install the decoder package aswell. on market too

If I'm not mistaken, player downloads necessary codecs after first launch.
Im always download a movie on my computer
and watch on my phone streaming from the computer via htc media server app.
After i update my phone to v1.28 it seems the htc media server dont recognized a video file on my computer anymore.
It recognized only the music file.
have u guys also a problem with htc media server?
I have this issue as well, worked fine on my Senastion running ICS - Sense 3.6. I think it is a bug in the software.
Download bubbleupnp. U can even set it up to watch ur videos using mobile internet, or even another WiFi to which your media server on. Used with mx player it can play almost all files.
Very good app, I stream music and videos off my home media server when I'm in work 20 miles down the road.

I thought we should be able to have our SGS III's show up as a media or mp2 player. It seems no matter what USB device I plug into, it is not recognized as a media player.
In particular, I have tried in the USB of cars: a Lexus, and a Mercedes. I have also recent purchased a Pioneer BT Car radio for my old '56, and it too does not recognize it.
Do I need to have my music in a particular folder or something? Any ideas?
