Hey guys can you tell me if I am running the latest stuff to run Myns Rls5? I installed and flashed it but when it finishes and I can unlock my Evo it goes to the HTC white screen and stays there... any suggestions? Here is a screen shot of what I am currently running.
I did this last night. Easiest way is this:
Flash this:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9a1ju....00.11.19_WiMAX_27167_R01_PRI_NV_1.90_003.zip
^^That will update your Radio, WiMax, PRI, and NV all at the same time. After you flash it, it will ask you to reboot. Let it reboot. When it comes back up you will see a phone graphic on a gray/black background. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE. It is flashing the radio. Your phone will reboot into recovery once it's done. When you're back in recovery, Flash Myn's ROM. Then you should be good to go from there.
I forgot to add. Wipe EVERYTHING before flashing the ROM.
Well you are up to date on the firmware side. But how are you installing this(amo-ra or CWM) ?

I dont know why people use clockwork when so many have trouble with it. amo-ra is just as easy to use.
I am installing through ROM manager. is this the wrong way ? And should I install the radios from the link in my first reapond? By the way you guys are faster than anything!! Thanks for the quick responds!

Sorry this might be a stupid question but. What's amo-ra? I only use rom manager and never heard of anything else besides that .

ROM Manager is just bloatware. Download Quickboot from the market. I use that to quickly get into recovery or bootloader.
Yes, use the link i provided. It will flash all the firmware upgrades you need (radio, pri, nv, wimax).

Go to the bottom of ROM Manager. What do you see listed as your Recovery?
By you using rom manager, you are using CWM, don't use it; just download it to your sd card and install it like that, but make sure to use Amo-ra.
I hate when people don't provide references from where they got the links so here is the thread for the firmware upgrade i provided. You can download from here (the combo) to make sure it's safe.

A little off topic, but was wondering if someone could quick answer my question. I have been using this ROM for a couple of weeks, and also using Riptides theme, I tried using my hdmi yesterday and it didn't work. Just wondering if it is disabled with this Rom? Appreciate if someone could answer this with out having to look for or start a new post. Thanks

Some people have been having problems. My suggestion would be to make a nandroid backup, flash the ROM without any mods and test whatever you want to test. If it works without any mods, then you know that your mods are causing the problem. I personally have never used the hdmi out so i can't test this myself.

I just got an INC and it was 2.2 out of the box. I have a ton of questions. I did look around for the answers. If I ask something that has already been answered, I apologize.
1. How do I know if I have an LCD or Amoled Screen
1a. Do I need to know this for a recovery image (Dont you have to have one?)
2. I have not done anything yet but download titanium-What do I need to do with this?
3. I keep hearing about a nandroid backup? How do I do this?
I am sure I forgot something but I will edit if so. I have been trying to figure this out but I am finding a lot of conflicting answers when it comes to doing things with the INC. I just want to make sure I have everything in order to flash a vanilla rom.
Thanks
I cant post any links cuz im a noob on this site but I used the Root guide and remove bloat guide from jonamerica
just rooted mine a couple of days ago! I have not added a custom rom yet but my Hydra kernel is sick and I removed all my bloat with Titanium. Have fun! I sure am loving the results.

I can't post links either, but here is some information to help you get started. There are guides to rooting in these forums and on other sites; google "root incredible slcd".
1. Check the SKU on the box your Incredible came in. If it ends in W3 you've got an SLCD screen. Apparently all (or nearly all) of the new units (that is, those sold in the last few months) are SLCD.
1a. Yes, it makes a difference. Carefully read the instructions before you root to make sure you've got a recovery image for an SLCD screen.
2. Titanium won't work until you're rooted.
3. After you're rooted you'll be able to do a full backup through the recovery console.
I googled it and found this guide. Awesome tool t

I am in no way saying this in a mean way so please don't take offense but I think you should do a little more research before you pursue this. Just clicking a different subforum this pops up: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744807
use the search feature here, read all you can about rooting, clockwork, berzerkers recovery, and especially unrevoked. know the risks you are taking doing this. know that you WILL void your warranty. i'm not trying to scare you, i just don't think this is something to be rushed into.

It's totally cool. I appreciate the info. I did try searching but maybe not deep enough. I'll check out the info. Thanks
Ok so I have been reading from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739428
I think I understand the clockwork thing. I read this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725744
I have the drivers installed on my pc and rooted. After reading from the above links, does that mean I should run this file.
http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recover....5.0.5-inc.img
I'm asking because I do not want to do anything without making sure...anymore lol
After doing that. I will have clockwork installed, correct? Except I have no clue what version of unrevoked I ran. I am rooted though. I know I am rooted and everything. I did this so I could install a vanilla rom. But I have to say, I am honestly lost. I have rooted other devices but am realizing that I literally know nothing about this stuff. So, sorry about all the questions and I'm trying to learn.
Ok, I realize I am like the dumbest person on this forum but. I have root. I have BAmod Recovery installed. I did the backup from recovery and did a batch recovery in titanium of all system data+apps. Am I good to go as far as backups go? And I have flashed roms before, just not on this phone. Once I have done these two things. Am I ok to flash a rom?
I try and keep it as simple as possible-
1. Root (to open up your phone's system)
2. Backup (just in case u mistake- u have to be rooted to even make a backup. Just rooted is not really much by itself, it just opens the doors so-to-speak)
3. Rom (apply all the different goodies previously unavailabe to you on your non rooted phone- someone else created these for all of us losers to enjoy for free-just make sure the rom you use is specific to your phone and android version)
Use these
1. Z4
2. Titanium
3. Rom manager clockwork
Also, bootloader/ bootstrap recovery- after u dload a rom to sd, use this to boot into recovery and select it from sd and reboot with

If the guy has an Incredible, are you saying he needs to use bootstrap? I have that on my Droid X because of Motorola's *lovely* gift to us, but NOT on my Dinc. Just curious...

Good point-
the rom manager should work for this on the inc.
I have better luck with the bootloader on the x, as you said since we have the nice kernel on lockdown with the x. Ha

The bootstrap will make a backup and also reboot your phone into the bootloader where u can pick the rom to boot into from your sd. There a few programs, at least, that do this -verify your phone compatibilty.

I think this will be my last real "noob" question. I've done some searching, but no real clear answer.
Just how exactly do I install a ROM? I'm thinking of trying both Virtuous and Cyanogen, just want to test them first. And do I still need to use / have the goldcard I initially made to downgrade the firmware, or can I turn that into a "regular" SD card again?
PS - With Virtuous, will using something like LauncherPro slow it down? Or will it not matter?
Thanks again in advance.
EDIT: I also kinda need to update the radio, I have no mobile data on the stock 1.34 radio...lol.
I bet you could of figured this out by googling "how to flash rom on g2/dz" faster than typing this question lol. Get rom manager, flash recovery with rom manager, download rom you want from rom manager, click okay...pretty easy stuff.
Sent from my Vision using XDA Premium App
However sometimes this does not work. A manual install of whatever comes down to downloading and dropping the .zip file of the ROM and whatever Google App pack into your root SD mount. Boot into recovery by Pwr+Vol Down, do a full wipe of both cache and the phone. Then Install Zip from SD card, flash the rom, then the gapps. Reboot.
Yes your back key will function in root.
Edit: When mounting your sd card onto the computer make sure USB debugging is on.
Thanks guys, I did end up figuring it out, now I'm just trying to flash my radio...there's 1 thread with goo dinstructions, but they're still not clear... eugh.
I feel more and more noob with this haha.
Well do a lot of reading before you go and install just any radio.... Make sure they are compatible. I don't want to see your next noob question be "I bricked my phone please help"

That's how i learn it.
No, I made sure to read everything I could. I just couldn't find any noob friendly radio instructions. I installed Virtuous, just trying to update to the recommended radio. lol
Rmk40 actually just released a program all about radios. Go check it out.

SERIOUSLY, careful. No offense, but if you're not sure on the details of how to flash a ROM, chances are you don't have the knowledge to safely flash your radio.
I feel competent flashing roms, pushing files with adb, and radios still freak me out. If you mess up, there's not turning back =/

I have a ROM flashed now. Just haven't found any real concise instructions on how to flash a radio.
The problem I find with most of these guides is that they say "If you don't know this blah blah google it", rather than explaining the method and how to do it / why it is important.

I think you should get clockwork mod premium and check out the options on there, it will basically download the rom for you and complete all the necessary steps to have a working install. I've been flashing roms since the G1 in 2008 and I still have some small issues here and there when doing it manually but if you want a safe bet, go with the clockwork mod app :]

why flash your radio though? I'm using CM7 RC4 with Pershoot kernel en stock radio... reaching up to 30 hours of uptime (with average usage) and good connectivity.

When I run Cyanogen internet is fine. But on Virtuous the Internet will not work. That is why lol.
I picked up an Epic today, and for the life of me, I cant seem to get things to flash right. I'm no stranger to this sort of thing (G1, MTS, HD2, NS4G)... but this phone is just giving me trouble.
First time I tried things, I followed everything here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091680
The oneclick worked without a problem, the rom appeared to flash fine in clockwork, but would not boot. I'd get the samsung logo, then a black screen, and there i'd sit. Couldn't get past it. After several wipes and reflashes, I decided to start over and Odin back to stock.
So now, on round two, I followed this instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076967. Same idea, just, as I understand, a newer version of clockwork? Again, root and clockwork installed fine. I followed the instructions to convert to EXT4 to the letter, which all went without error. I then flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873347. I made sure to get the EXT4 version. Flashed, rebooted, and it gets stuck at the Samsung logo.
So, odin back to stock again. Can anyone help me try to figure out what I am missing here? I've followed all instructions completely to the letter, and the best I can tell I'm using the correct roms. Any ideas?
Maybe simple, but I know in the clockwork menu when you are flashing the rom there are two choices that look similar. One is update and one update from zip. Make sure you are choosing the right one.

I'm choosing the right one. I've got plenty of experience finding my way around clockwork, which is why i'm so baffled as to why this isn't working. I'm no stranger to the steps involved here. Either I'm not understanding something, or i'm flashing the wrong roms. Just trying to figure out where i'm going wrong.

If you used CWM 3.0.2.5 it does not convert to EXT4. You have to run another script to convert before flashing an EXT4 ROM. You have to flash the ROM before booting right after the conversion.
Try running this script from CWM just make sure you have the ext4 room you want to use on the card LOL yes I have made that mistake DOH!

Well... I broke it. I'm rather confused by how things work with this phone.
I did what ya'll said, and as told, did not wipe (despite reaaaally wanting to.) The rom booted and such, but I had lots of problems. I attributed this to lack of wiping. I really wanted a fresh go.
So, I decided to try again. I wiped and reflashed this rom. Now... won't boot again, just sits on a black screen. I don't get it. Why am I not allowed to wipe data when using this rom?

+1 what he said also after u flash you might want to enable journaling

Where your phone seems to be a little temperamental I would recommend it for the best experience.
It says on the rom page not to wipe... I didnt wipe coming from midnight rom and acs script took care of everything while flashing... I havent had one fc and no problems yet.... I wonder what the issue is

Decided to just completely start from scratch. I did exactly this:
Odin back to stock
One-click 3.0.2.5
RFS2EXT4
Flash SFR-1.1.1
Didn't wipe anything, this is ALL I did. This worked. I still don't understand why I had all this trouble in the first place? Is it the phone, or am I doing something I shouldn't? It seems like the issue is with wiping before flashing. So, what happens if I want to try a different ROM? I can't imagine I need to Odin back to stock every time...

What does this do? Doing a google search gave me instructions on how to enable/disable journaling, but it's not a term i'm familiar with and nothing actually explained why I'd want to do this.
This issue is with stock EC05. It has something weird going on especially the OTA that requires wiping. Same for the new Bonsai release, wipes only needed colming from stock EC05.
Do you BONSAI?

Journaling allows for the extra write to the phone so there is no corruption if you have to pull the battery or you drop it and the battery falls out. If it is not enabled then you might get a lot of FC's after replacing battery and booting up. Also FYI with this phone when you shut it off and the screen is black and the home lights are out it is NOT truly OFF until you fell the quick VIBRATION then it is truly off.
You shouldn't have to go back to stock each time but it seems that you might be having some other issue. You using the stock USB cable? Might want to get a good one from a store other then Sprint. Just a suggestion I have seen a ton of issue's related to the stock cable.

Hello,
In October I purchased my first true smartphone, the Galaxy S3 i747.
Since then I have rooted and just have a few simple questions.
I haven't installed a custom ROM, and I really don't know much about them other than that they are an alternative to the stock android os (4.1, 4.0, etc.) that comes with your phone. I have a few questions about ROMs.
I have heard good things about cleanROM, and I want to download it to my phone, but I can't seem to find my phone's version of it. Does it even exist for my version? If not, what are some excellent alternatives? (Must be able to change status bar, I hate the grey one in 4.1.1, just updated tonight) Finally, with a custom ROM, will I ever have to do anything with the stock OS again? Because I get this error message now after i have upgraded to 4.1.1, that doesnt let me check for updates as I have rooted my phone.
Thanks a ton for your help guys, and sorry for the noobish questions!

Thanks a ton for your help guys, and sorry for the noobish questions!

I may be wrong but it looks like cleanROM is for only Verizon. I dont think Scott has an AT&T version because he does not have our phone.

Hello,
In October I purchased my first true smartphone, the Galaxy S3 i747.
I had the same questions as you did when I first started...
Best thing to do is go into the android development forums or the android original development fund a Rom, read some of the posts and feedback on it, and if you like what your reading try it out due your self.
Some roms are built around the stock TWz JB os so looks wise is minimal but alot of the extra crap removed i.e all att bloat crap apps that you never use, and other tweaks here and there.
All this into can be found on the OPs first post about the Rom, and make sure that Rom is due your phone!
Follow all pre flashing instructions, and backup!!!!!
Just flash and test it out, worst case you can just restore back to your back up and it will be as you never flashed.
There is a link with the most common Roms I'm pretty sure it's a sticky, I always use a rom that active support for it so as issues come up, they get resolved.
This stuff can get very confusing, read, search, and just post Qs some people like my self have no qualms responding to repeat questions as we all were there once before.
But search is your friend
Hope this helps!

I have a few more questions. What is a good backup application? I really know nothing about them so if somebody would reccomend one that would be great! Another thing that drew me to cleanROM is that usefull applications like kies air and dropbox weren't removed. Is this the case with many roms?
Thanks

Dropbox is always downloadable from the play store. Pretty sure it's the same deal with kies air, you can just redownload.
Backup as system is always done in CWM.
Backup applications and data for them,I highly recommend titanium back up, awesome app but phone needs to be rooted, with that app you can backup all your applications, flash a rom then just install titanium backup and restore all applications. It's very nice!

Thank you!
I'll find a rom and give it a shot, and report back if I have any questions.

Sorry for the double post, but I just realized after installing titanium that I no longer have root access. My device state is still modified and applications I had before I upgraded to 4.1.1 that needed root still work. However, no new apps that require root will work, and root checkers say my device isn't rooted help please!

So your phone isn't rooted..
Did you try to when you hold vol- and power does the phone boot into recovery mode which should be CWM ... if that happens you are rooted..
Otherwise try to start all over with Odin and the tar files you need to root.

I use Titanium Backup all the time. Everytime I install a new ROM, warranty my phone, or do any sort of wipe. It is amazing!! I dont ever back up system apps tho, just user installed. It backs up everything from the APK to saved games and settings!

Copy and paste that link into your browser and remove the spaces between "http"
..but I had root access previously, seems like the update took it away. I'll just re root

I previously used odin to root my phone, does odin do exactly the same stuff as cwm and can it flash the same roms as cwm? Or should I just start using cwm now and never use odin?

Odin is used to root the phone from stock.. it allows you to first install cwm and su ..once that is done, Odin isn't used any longer unless your reverting back to stock, CWM is used thus forward.

Thanks!
So I still have su, it just doesn't work. Will rooting again with odin affect anything negatively? I think I'll try Cyanogenmod once I root again, it seems like a good customizable rom

You should have no problems... And su needs to set permissions, and binaries..
I found this link with videos on rooting, very helpful..
