Dual core HTC 's - Desire General

Just wondering if anyone has heard any reports leaks or rumours of any dual core HTC phones?
They seem to be sitting in the dark alot this year, My desire is my first HTC phone and I plan on sticking with them, just hope they like staying up to date with technology :S

Newest leak is HTC SAGA- aka Desire 2

has there been any actual real news for that recently - a quick google and all I can see is Feb 2010 -> july 2010...

Speculation about a 1.2Ghz dual core 4G phone called the HTC Pyramid:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/03/htc-pyramid-emerges-from-the-mists-of-speculation-with-a-1-2ghz/
Date: 3rd Feb; Unfortunately, looks likes it's gonna be a US only release.

Not that I know much a bout carriers and what country a phone has been released in, but if its quad band does that not mean it will work in most countries?
Or am I wrong? Haha
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

I would guess so... but it looks like some carriers in the US are doing strange things for 4g etc so I don't know if they would work properly elsewhere.

How many awesome phones will be out around that time ^^

Dual core? Lol they cant even sort out heat issues on single cores besides why would we need so much power in a phone? Im all for smartphones but jees talk about overkill

HTC One X and backbreaker tegra

Hi, guys im trying to buy backbreaker thd from googleplay but it says "your device is Not Suitable for your device" what can i do about That or any solution?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
If your device is rooted you have to edit the build.prop ( plenty of tutorial out there => search )
If you are not rooted i don't think there is a "legal" way.
Thank you so much

How is it possible that Backbreaker THD, obviously for Tegra, isn't compatible with my One X? I can buy it with my Desire, a bit strange isn't it?

But the Desire is two years old and has no Tegra. It has a very modest Adreno 200 video chip, so it's likely it won't even run the game and at best it will but on low quality. Why is it available anyway? There is a normal version of the game, which is less expensive. Why sell a Tegra game to a device that has no benefit of it?

Because in the app manifest you can't filter by CPU, but you can (and obviously the dev had done it) by screen density. That's about the only thing that's different and could make your desire suitable for the app, as it has the same density as the older tegra 2 phones. I would suggest contacting the developer as it would be a minor update on his part, so it can be done quickly.

There are other ways to block devices, you can filter out any device you want. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9510649/how-to-restrict-android-app-to-specific-device-make
So it's just plain laziness or greed of the developer.

Compare arc S to U.... U wins by miles. It has a lot faster processor and a lot faster GPU.
Compare One V to arc S - One V wins by miles. One V has beautiful display + decent processor (it is 1ghz but in reality, it was underclocked by htc from 1.4 to 1ghz because of the casing).
Compare One V to U - Xperia U wins by miles IF you are interested only in playing games, running apps faster and you are not interested in any kind of deving, not even root.
Xperia comes with a powerful GPU, the MALI 400 - the one that you can find in Galaxy S2, and a dual core processor Cortex A9 - 1ghz - again - the same processor that comes with Galaxy S2.
So IF you want only playing games, multimedia and such... 100% go for Xperia U.
Have a nice day!

That's a very informtive response and i thank you for it but are you sure those are the specs of the xperia U? I think you may have mixed them up with the specs of the xperia P.
Also, woudn't the arc S be superior due to it's faster processor (than the one V). You say it wins by miles but why?

Think I may go for the one V after all. Dont think the others are worth the £80 more or so and they are somewhat past the price range. Thanks for all the help!

Actually you can't force it to use only one of the main cores it will always use 2 you can force it to use the power save core but that will make your phone basically unusable.
There is an app called core control made by meltus which let's you turn off cores.

HTC like all other companies design their software around the hardware,so it was designed with a QUADCORE in mind, gaming or other ,and NO! SIMPLE TASKS WONT RUN SMOOTH BECAUSE IT WAS DESIGNED TO RUN ON QUADCORE AS WELL!

I dont think "it isnt designed to" is good argument here. It isnt designed to run cyanogen mod or miui or whatever either, but somehow its doing just fine. It wasnt designed to record videos @ 30fps, but look, now it does, i could go on and on about things it "isnt designed" to do but it does Either way you cant run 1core for now, minimum 2, and as i said earlier im doing it right now and no lags, even games are smooth.

Same here. I use two cores for gaming, simple tasks, and it doesn't lag at all. On Dead trigger, I'm getting 30-40 fps on two cores. The battery is much better when using 2 cores than 4 cores.

When is next HTC release?

As this being the "general" forum of latest HTC's android flag ship, I'm asking here.
After HTC released only WP8 devices on the 19/9/2012, I heard they will have another release on 26/9/2012. I'm really waiting for their phablet because the Note 2 is very expensive and the GPU is old..
Thanks

The next HTC device could arrive quicker & more of a powerhouse than you think.....
----
Speculation is mounting that the next Google Nexus 5 will in fact be the HTC One X 5. GSMArena.com has received a tip saying the 5-inch display-sporting Android handset will be made by HTC, and has even been passed on some specs.
According to the tip-off, the Nexus 5 will house a Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, a 12-megapixel camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper and a whopping 64GB of internal memory storage. It will also use a 2,500 mAh battery and will offer LTE connectivity.
However, what really stands out is the claim that the display will be 1080p – a huge task for a screen size of 5-inches.
Of course, it being a Nexus-branded device, we can expect the phone to run on the latest version of Android, with GSMArena citing the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 operating system, providing bug fixes and Project Butter for a smoother user experience.
Pocket-lint has been told that the HTC One X 5 is real (also known as the HTC Droid Incredible X), despite the handset having yet to emerge from its hiding place. When it does finally appear could it be in the shape of the Google Nexus 5?

I have worked with a lot of devices on xda ,and to be honest HOX has the least attention
I own a newly bought HTC Sensation XE and it has the twice the support that HOX has though its a years older than One X
beside the HTC One X hasnt been lucky with Tegra Chip inside since this chip isnt popular at all and it doesnt has any kind of support

another point Samsung Galaxy S2 even has more support than both of these devices together
SO when it comes to your question ? I think our device here is dying fast when it comes to support

Take a look at the legendary HD2 it's support beats the one x in every way that's due to the chip and s-off... And yes nexus devices support is way better duo to its price what broke the one x is the ****ty Tegra chip nvidia is known at writing bad drivers for Linux kernels so i wouldn't be surprised... When i bought the one x i knew that the support won't be amazing but i thought we will have s-off because that didn't happen the support is very bad so mhhh.. This overheating problem is mostly due to Tegra chip design not HTC and we can see that only HOX and HOX+ that has Tegra chips and after that point HTC has stopped dealing with Nvidia for uplifting an further chips

True but now it isnt posable to change some things i could on my desire and its harder to make custom roms like kitkat with sense 5.5
Tegra...
The only thing I don't understand why is so hard to port a ROM from the original Nexus 7
it has almost the same Tegra 3 CPU in it and it has all the drivers supplied for the latest Android 4.4 version...?

That's what I decided after this HTC experience as well. It was my first Android phone, and now I know that Nexus is the way to go.
Even HTC Desire has better support than HOX at the moment.
Lesson learnt, only buy Qualcomm chipset based phones
And by the way, kitkat kernel source for HTC one is already released. And we are still waiting for 4.2.2 kernel source.
